Author's note

I do not own these characters except oc ones.

No matter how tired he was, he refused to stop, he had to get as far from the Pridelands as he could. He didn't believe they would try and bring him back, but part of him feared they would just to make him miserable. He ran away when the pride was asleep.

He knew it was stupid running into the Outlands with creatures such as jackals, vultures, etc. But he'd rather take his chances. What was the point of being in a safe place if you were surrounded by those that hated you? He had to be a good distance away now.

"You probably made the right decision in running away, after all you could have ended up like the one that becomes a bitter tyrant that end up defeated by his nephew, and eaten by the ones he betrayed". Taka jumped in shock from the voice he heard, a crow standing on a burned tree.

"Where are my manners, I'm someone who seen you ruin your life, one once". The cub was confused. "What are you talking about".

"There are many alternate worlds out there, some perhaps has only one little change, another might have many big ones".

Taka thought that sounded very cool. But he had a question. "Why are you here"? The crow turned away, "I shouldn't be, at least not directly, I merely watch, I am not to actually interfere".

"Are you here to warn me about the future", Taka wondered. "I cannot tell the future, even I don't know, only the past on what worlds there already are".

"So why are you here"?

"I do not exist in one world, or any. I simply observe. I do not usually interfere directly; I consider it an abuse of my power".

"Then why are you talking to me", responded Taka.

"Good question, I observe the creatures of the Animal Kingdom. Mammals, reptiles, insects, fish, dinosaurs".

"Dinosaurs", Taka asked confused. He remembers when his brother told him about them, he was so scared that they would come and eat him, he couldn't sleep for the next few days.

"They were here during the earliest days of the world. Here they are extinct. In other worlds, younger than this one, they continue to live".

Taka found this very cool to hear. "Can you take me to one of the different worlds"?

"I didn't talk to you so I could send you somewhere else, I'm merely trying to warn you, so I can give you a say in your own destiny. And you should consider yourself thankful I did. After all, there are many who has or had it worse than you that I didn't try to comfort".

"Let me go, I have nothing here".

"I can't send you somewhere you want, it would be an abuse of my power".

"You said you already abused your power that when you spoke to me. And you say you want to give me a chance to control my own destiny".

The crow seemed to be thinking it over. "Alright, but to a location of not my choice, not yours. My power will send you somewhere random and I won't know where until the job is done".

Taka nodded in agreement.

"The world you will be in, I will come to meet you once, later on and give you the choice to return, but I will not interfere in what happens to you before that, so know your life is in your paws, if you die, there are no second chances for you. Knowing this, would you like to proceed"?

Taka considered backing out, it seemed suicidal. He broke his back once, when Mufasa pinned him, how could he survive in a place that might be worse than this. Then again, what did he have to lose?

"I'll go", he announced.

"Very disappointing, you're smarter than that, but I guess I'm to blame for underestimating how much you hate yourself and your life, I can see you made your choice about this decision, but I will ask you again, are you sure"?

Taka nodded, making the crow swoop at the cub, Taka quickly covered his eyes, but when he removed his paws, the place he was in didn't seem that different. He had no clue where he was, it wasn't the Outlands, but appeared to be some kind of wasteland nonetheless.

No life of any kind. The crow could have at least brought him so some place where he could drink. "I guess I should find some water".

Easier said than done, keeping track of how long it's been, one hour has passed and he had no drink. To make matters worse it was dark. Then he saw something he never saw before, a weird bird, but not like any he saw before it was bigger than most, long neck, big wings and had a beak that resembled a pelican.

It was also recently eaten. Feeling his stomach growl, he decided to see if there was any meat left over. He needed to hurry though, whatever killed it might not be that far away. But he was scrawny, his brother and brother's friends usually compared him to a mouse, why would anyone or anything eat him?

Sniffing around the corpse he was able to find a bit of meat, not exactly a good taste but he was in no position to be picky. He was practically a vulture now, having to eat dead bodies.

When he got his fill, he prepared began to walk away until a loud roar got his attention. And seeing the source, he ended up paralyzed in fear. It was the biggest creature he saw in his life.

Taka heard about this creature, Mufasa told him about it, the tyrannosaurus rex, the kind of the dinosaurs. How big, they were, their sharp claws and teeth and always glaring at what will be their next victim. He couldn't get to sleep for the next 6 nights. It was only after that, Mufasa told him, they've been long dead for millions of years. When his parents found out what Mufasa did, they took his side of course, his mother found it amusing and his father was more disgusted with Taka for being a coward.

Taka realized in horror he was sent to a place with dinosaurs and he was in trouble.

But now he was looking one right in the eye. The predator ran towards him, but it was only when he tried to eat him on one bite that Taka came to his senses and jumped out of the way. Taka went as fast as he could, what was he thinking coming here?! He'd rather face leopards and jackals.

His pursuer was catching up to him, His mouth heading down for the target, Taka screamed as Sharptooth ate him. Sharptooth never saw this creature before, but he liked the taste that was for sure. Suddenly the beast was disturbed, Taka wasn't dead yet. He held onto its uvula. Taka put its claws into it, and did it over and over.

Not being able to handle it much longer, Taka was spit out. Taka ran without even looking at it. The dinosaur was still coughing, that thing would pay for this attack on his pride!

Meanwhile a dinosaur named Littlefoot was woken up by a hopper and followed it. "Hey, hopper! Come back", called Littlefoot. "Hey", Littlefoot said as it hopped away again. He was going to follow, when someone eh met earlier ran up to him.

"You again? GO away! That's my hopper", said the threehorn known as Cera.

"Uh… I saw him first", replied Littlefoot. "Well, he's in my pond", she pointed out". She slid down the ramp and followed it to the murky water. However, Littlefoot followed her down and bumped into her. Annoyed with him, her attention turned back to the hopper that went under the water. Thinking she saw the hopper again; she went for it but it turned out to only be a bubble. Littlefoot noticed another bubble but it popped.

Three seconds later, a bubble began forming under Littlefoot and it managed to topple him out of the way, while Cera jumped for it, thinking it was a hopper, but it was only another reflection of one.

Seeing another bubble appear she jumped for that one as well. She could hear Littlefoot laughing in the background.

"Over here", he called out. "Hey this is fun", she said as a bubble formed under her and Littlefoot went to pop another one. Their fun was interrupted as something bumped into Cera, it didn't have much effect, but she still noticed it.

"Who are you", she demanded to know from the new guy. Littlefoot stopped what he was doing and turned his attention to Taka. He was orange brownish, green eyes and panting heavily.

"I'm 'pant' being 'pant' chased".

"By what", asked Littlefoot. Suddenly a shadow began descending upon them, a low growl could be heard. Littlefoot and Cera saw the source.

"Sharptooth", shouted Cera.

The 2 ran or at least attempted to escape, ending up with Littlefoot and Cera only for them to slide with Littlefoot on top of Cera while calling for his mother at the same time.

They both screamed and got out of the way before Sharptooth could squash them. They ran into the thorn bush and Taka was following them, fearful for his life. Taka assumed they'd be safe as Sharptooth wouldn't be able to get in.

Sharptooth lost sight of them, growling he continued to look around, he was going to find the 3 of them, especially that 'thing' that he was forced to spit out. He would crush him, then eat the remains.

As he turned, Littlefoot pulled Cera by the tail to keep them out of sight, Taka was behind them a few feet keeping his eyes on the massive predator.

Sharptooth wasn't letting them go that easy, using his sniffer he put his head through a hole. His snout was above them, the only thing between him and them was a long thick branch.

His snout lowered it and the 3 flattened themselves into the ground. Air from his nose was touching them.

"Let's go", Taka said quietly. They cautiously made their way away from him.

They came across a small bush splitting into 2 halves. "This way", Littlefoot gestured to the path on the right. Taka nodded but Cera shook her head and went the other path. Littlefoot and Taka went after her. "Come back, you're going the wrong way", Littlefoot called after her.

Sharptooth dove after them, making Cera scream and Taka almost trip in shock as they ran into another thorn bush. Littlefoot didn't notice that he ran into vines until it was too late. Taka stopped to look back, seeing Littlefoot trying to run but the bush holding him.

Sharptooth's head was getting closer and Taka could only watch in shock, too afraid to go near the massive predator. Just then Littlefoot managed to escape the vines and they hit Sharptooth in the face making him pull his face back and burst out of the thorn patch making Cera scream again. His right eye was in pain and he used his claw to get rid of the thorn.

He was furious and leaped, landing right behind the 3, making the ground shake and causing them to fall over. Sharptooth blew his breath at them, ready to kill.

A large tail suddenly hit Sharptooth in the head, knocking him back into a big rock. Taka saw their saviour was the same species as Littlefoot.

The trio ran underneath her, while Sharptooth tried to get up. Taka heard the short Dino with the long neck call her mother. She nudged her son. "Run, run"!

Sharptooth ran at her, and tried to get a bite but missed her. She quickly hit him back.

The kids were still a bit to close and Cera would have been squashed by Littlefoot's own mother, had said son not moved her out of the way. "Look out"!

As the fighting kept going, Sharptooth took another snap at Littlefoot's mother, twice but missed and she hit him with her tail again, this time knocking him into the cliffside so hard he cracked some rocks. They tried to flee but Sharptooth was not giving up and leaped after them, landing on Littlefoot's mother, tearing off part of her flesh.

Taka covered his eyes too after seeing this. When Littlefoot moved with Cera, he had to push Taka out of the way too. Sharptooth leaped, and was on top of Littlefoot's mother, putting his teeth into her back. Taka couldn't take any more of this and ran away, ignoring Littlefoot calling him.

When they were out of sight, Taka sighed in relief, although he felt bad about leaving the others behind. Thinking it was over, then an earthquake began or as the dinosaurs called it, earthshake. He was hit in the head by a rock and was knocked out instantly.

As for the others. Littlefoot was separated from his grandparents. Cera from her parents. Littlefoot's mother and Sharptooth disappeared. As night came Littlefoot was still looking for her.

It didn't take long for Taka to wake up. "My head! Where am I"? He found himself lying on rocks. It seemed the earthquake has passed. Taka realized he was knocked out for a bit. He also knew that it was luck that prevented him from being eaten while he was out for the count.

Taka soon heard a familiar voice calling for his mother. He saw the dinosaur that saved them earlier. She appeared to be injured. He couldn't tell if it was from fighting the monster, or the earthquake. He saw Littlefoot run to his mother. He said 'mother', so lowly that Taka didn't hear. He watched the scene before them.

"Please get up".

His mother spoke weakly. "I'm….! I not sure I can, Littlefoot".

"Yes, you can. Get up".

Taka watched her tried to get up, only to fall again. Littlefoot made a small sound as he laid in front of his mother's head.

"Dear sweet Littlefoot? Do you remember…? …the way to the Great Valley? Littlefoot sniffed before he spoke. "I guess so. But why do I have to know if you're going to be with me".

"I'll be with you", she assured. "Even if you can't see me".

"What do you mean if we can't see you? We can always see you".

"Littlefoot. Let your heart guide you. It whispers, so listen closely". Those were her last words.

"Mother? Mother"?

It was heart-breaking for Taka to watch this. Was this because of him? Would she have lived, had he not been around? He was the one that led Sharptooth to them.

Taka walked over to Littlefoot, trying to think of a way to comfort him. He couldn't do much. "Littlefoot. I'm so sorry". He went and nuzzled him like a friend trying to be a friend to the dinosaur who lost his parent.

Author's Note

Anyone who saw the movie knows Littlefoot's Mother would have died anyway. Taka doesn't know that. And he thinks she would have lived had it not been for him.
