Chapter 6: Enchanted to… EAT YOU??!

/

Ami grunted to stay awake, while Haru shut her eyes and listened as the cargo – the two, were being taken deep into the heart of the hell – train. Their destination was not spoken by their captors as clearly. In Japanese, but no. It sounded to be a language that Ami did not recognize from her stay. Maybe it was Ancient, or…

No.

As she looked back, there was something about the dialect that was morphed; Mandarin, but not really. Could there be other demons from a single destination or varying ones?

~ The Madame will let you in; be kind, she may even keep the shining one as her plaything! ~

The worms with gator mouths cackled and shoved the two, Ami and Haru into a barrier – held off room. Ami was not bound and held a hand to her mouth at a smoke that did not reek of demon scourges. Just, lazy herbs.

In the center, was a dark web. A large one with smaller spiders all around it and crushed bones – marrow still intact. At the fortified web's left, was a winged beauty, not caught up in the threads but resting gently. A pipe to her mouth that extended an arm's width.

Opium, that was the smell. Ami looked to Haru who had failed to change forms due to the evil presence here. The eight eyes that bore back into the young chosen, those stuck for a good few seconds before a voice sighed out, ~ My Lady Jorogumo did not sense you and your allies in time. We mean the Goddess's vassal no true harm. All we are here for is to supply our stock of the suffering. It's tradition. Is it not, Lady Jorogumo? ~ The butterfly wings on the back of this strange fae were alight – the images within were as a kaleidoscope; many facets as a fly's eyes.

Or a spider's as an arm or three extended from the massive web. Her body was mortal in look, but she was all but a god of the eight-legged weavers of legend. Grey, black and white markings of a mystic gourd of immortality were inked into her lower abdomen. Her lowest, having no concern as she seated herself on her side. Her arms and hands wore a glove – like black set of claws on each. Her eyes were of many, the two main orbs were ruby red and even silvery white, as her light brows were nearly fine as spider's silk. Guessing her to be in charge today, Ami still had trouble with quips like her dad. He was the king when it came to taunting villains, yet…

This, was a big boss. Ami's first nemesis!

~ Your scent is of three more. I smell a fae on your body. Why do you side with the foxes, child of the solar gods? ~

"I…have a mission, but you don't. You can't hurt anymore humans." She told the spider daemon aloud.

"We are here to stop whatever is happening to so many victims, and you're the one to blame –

~ Don't you dare talk to Lady Jorogumo like that! ~

Jorogumo lashed out at Ageha as she swiftly let her claw clasp the fae's wing. ~ Don't interrupt, my child. ~

She let go, Ageha looking very spooked as she backed away. ~ Bring the other one to me. The young granddaughter of my former enemy shall not miss her ally's execution –

~ Lady

~ GO . ~ Hissed the spider queen. ~ The sun child is my guest. I shall not harm her, lest I bring upon the wrath of Amaterasu – hime. ~

"Ama…. you can't hurt my friends!" Ami shouted, earning a whine from an ailing Haru. " Haru!" Ami cried and slid over to her fox family member. ~ She is weakened by the toxin Lady Ageha's tools produce. You shall be unharmed as well, if you cooperate. ~

"I'm not hurting anyone or getting hurt... You have to stop, go back to your world –

~ My world? ~ The spider's body started to shift. Her fangs dripped as she morphed into a full animal before Ami's eyes, her eyes looking down on the freshman student. ~ You are in it, little trespasser; this is not your home. I know it. You smell of the water of some other ocean. This home was always mine, I come here today to seek out my throne as before. ~

"I don't know your story." Ami huffed. "Tell me then, so I can send you off. I'm not as afraid as you want me to be."

~ Guts and glory…. just as he. I smell the red king as well in your heart. He still lives? ~

"No." Ami lied. "He's gone. Never coming back."

~ I see. ~ The spider spun round as Haru morphed into a small fox. ~ Are you certain of this? That fox emits an aura and it tells me… ~ The spider slung over as Ami held a hand over her face. The venom that dripped was saliva. It….

~ That, you are lying to me, dear goddess…~ Jorogumo lilted, chidingly to the teenager. ~ You must not do such things. I too am a god of olden eras. Tell me, is the red king among your kind –

"NO!"

~ You WILL tell me!! ~ Jorogumo howled, the spider morphing into a full form of a large orb weaver as her thread cut through the dark to bind Ami in its clutches. ~ Your scent is so sure, not unwavering. You know something. Secrets in the court are well known between rivals. Then, do you know who my rival is, young miko? ~

"No." Ami winced as the threads cut into her skin…

Then, she screamed. The pain…how?! She had to fight back! Bloor dripped onto the dusted floorboards, Ami whimpered and bit her lip. Enduring the next hit, she had to be brave…

Haru was on the ground, looking near decayed in a heap. "No…. I'm not your targ –

" AAnh !"

~ Careful what you say next to me, young priestess. ~ The demon god's face looked unbearably hungry for answers her dark fingers clutched Ami's chin. Jorogumo held the teen there while the bindings dug in slowly, making her prey twitch and writhe as best she could.

~ This silk can only be cut by a true magus. You are not one yet…. if you tell me about your dear friend you're failing to protect right now, I will give you the power to cut through –

"I….am not a monster like you! Let… US … GO !"

/

The plan was to find the intruders and knock them all out. Ageha returned to the place she had believed the others in. Her enemy's child, her familiars and another fox. The child was a muse to gods of the fallen empire. Ageha was only a cover. She had no choice since bringing the spider from its burial. As a character from a time ago, dedicated to eradicating the line of Seimei's once and for all, she had yet to steal the last cursed girl's power. After her mother had gone missing, the girl's great grandfather had been wounded by Jorogumo's remaining poison which now resided inside of that child's blood. If she embraced it well enough, Jorogumo could take that power and devour the last member of the Abe clan. She had to.

Ageha reverted to her red-haired human form. She had no true desire to dye it that shade, yet hiding her wings in her work skirt and heels and looking like a victim might allow her the element of surprise. As her wings let off a fine powder, the group of exorcists were set free from her maze for a bit, while Jorogumo took hold of the young chosen's full attention.

"I see a light up ahead –

~Iyori – SAMA! ~

Aya and Iyori were joined by Kaede, who's senses after the story of how Iyori's curse was a lure of a specific demon….it left her wondering who the red head in a heap by the door was. "Is she…a victim too?" Aya looked at the walls. No miasma. ~ There is nothing here that tells me she has magic, she is fine. For now. ~

"No." Iyori ran over to the flushed human guise of Ageha. "Are you ok, miss?"

"I…. I…' .can't…." Ageha clutched her chest, as if in a terribly harsh agony. "Aya - san, you have to carry her. We need to find the right car where Ami is. Kaede. You know my story; you know why I carry on when I become so weak because OF that demon. It's not a tale told often, yet she has to be close."

~ I won't let you face that yokai by yourself! Ami Chan failed; we should fall back. ~

"I won't let these humans and you, suffer because of my great – ancestor's mistakes!"

"They weren't, though." Kaede added, "This enemy of your family's is real, and must be exorcised quickly. My sibling and my charge are in danger. None of us are strong enough, is that what Aya is telling you?"

Ageha bit her lip, looking weak while she hated hearing commoners speaking of her mistress like some common thief. She was by far more alive than Seimei! How were they so clueless?

"We can't leave her…. Look." Iyori sighed. "I'm sure you know I can't be left alone –

"She….is going to …. ugh…." The red head fainted, becoming heavier as her body increased by a faint spell to duplicate her kilos. When Aya went to try and move the body, it would not budge. "She's paralyzed to the floor!" Aya gawked. ~ We must try to dislodge…. I don't know. I can't stay. Kaede! ~ Growled out the forest ninja spirit. ~ You must watch over Iyori while I look for an exit to the train car. Stay here. Do not leave her side. ~

"I…. You care about Iyori that much to abandon your charge? What about –

~ Your charge will be there, if this is all an illusion. ~ Aya said with no real empathy for poor Ami, a real assassin. It ticked Kaede off as she growled out in annoyance.

"You wanna say that again, killer?? Huh??"

"No." Iyori shook her head. "I'll summon Saturday. You are both giving me a headache with your incessant disputes."

"And you are just acting like Iyori can stay in a corner like a child! She's your contracted!" Blurted out Kaede. "Why don't you care –

~ I can break through! Just, you must trust –

~This is getting tiresome, is it not…? ~ The red head breathed as her arms reached to grip Iyori close.

~ Too late, dear ladies. I'm sure you'll find your way through the path this time, that is…~ The demon's wings expanded as she let her real form be seen by the two daemons...

~ Iyori! No! Ageha …you will not have her! –

~ Insect, why don't you show that boring fox… what you really are??…. ~ Ageha laughed as her petal like wings of a summer spectacle started to rain a fine powder. "Aya – chan!! Help !!"

Aya was…. she looked to her body, her shaking frame as she hopped –

No….

~ IYORI !!~

The cackling fae – butterfly took Iyori and carried her through a new barrier, the other two left by the other to navigate the current train car. Their charges, still separated.

Raku held his skull while they were almost to the police station. John jumped back as the djinn's book collapsed open in midair above the seventeen-year old's chest. "Is he –

"He's found something, or it's calling us away on business."

"It's a map." Hisao gasped. "That boy –

"A living archive." John saluted the men and scooped up his apprentice. "Fun chat; we could be a while. It says a transport is needed –

"In Kobe…. Sun Woo?"

"Hai! Y- yes?"

The older officer dragged out a new smoke from his extra pack. "We can afford to take one more ride. Who are you hitching one from this afternoon, Mr. Constantine?"

/

Yumi had to wait for Jackie to return from the other room and her phone call. She came out of the kitchen, her hands to her sides and scrunched eyes less apologetic towards the one she was currently looking to see again. Her boo, her girlfriend. In Japan, the closeness of others wasn't so outgoing as it was in other countries. "Any luck, Jacklyn –

"No. But she has to be at that school. Do they have an address? A number I can reach?"

"Not that I know, but Shoji…" Yumi thought, "He may have a better answer to our question."

/

Dick Grayson had his ticket, not that it was to get on an early vacation with medical leave involved. He wasn't that old, not like some. On his left he spotted someone else waiting and staring at their cell. A girl with a hi –

He stopped.

Anna??

She was built more like a marine than the last time. At twenty, he had to agree that Slade and Sara's training programs definitely did vary. She had been wielding some weapon since her arms were defined, she wore some cropped sleeveless hooded navy green workout top and cargo capris to match. Maybe she was on call?

He had to go over there. This was a flight to see his other kid and, and he needed to know why she looked to be headed to Japan as well.

Dick shuffled by as she continued to act as if her cell was more important than reality.

"Ah…. hello?"

Looking up, the face of his once – teen rebel rouser, changed dramatically sooner than anticipated. Her hazel green eyes blinked before nearly tripping over her bags. "Damn it! That was too close…. what are you doing here, dad??"

"What are you, and where is your partner?"

She frowned, brow mincing his opinion of their relationship. "I'm not his partner, we do team ups. Not today, so…. What? Are you going to see Ami or Shoj?"

"Only place they are that I can reach to make sure –

"Don't be so modest." Anna huffed. "You sneak around like it's your business –

"I call, you never even text –

"Want me to lose my finger in a warzone?"

" Why, Annie???"

"Why the –

She turned to the intercom.

~ Last flight boarding to; Tokyo Japan International –

"Gotta go."

"I can't stop you, but tell me. Is it is retcon? Espio –

"That's classified." She shot and gripped her bags like a Tamaranean. "I'm gonna miss my flight, you should just focus on Ami. I might be there for a few days –

"We could, just chat."

"No secrets." She put up a finger. "Oh, shut up…." Anna growled with a low groan, disappointedly, while Dick pulled out his own boarding ticket.

"What?"

"You. Are sitting next to my boss."

/

Anna's boss was actually a shocker too.

Rose Wilson had stayed away since sticking it out with Slade on the side. The heroes had imagined her forever a lost cause, now…. she was a stand in for Slade in keeping Anna's fire at bay. "Why not daddy's jet?" (So, in this to keep the Renegade arc stable; Rose has a weaker version of the serum's slow aging effects. She is told "twenty-five when it should be in her early thirties, so Dick is picking on her. He also should be middle ground but due to the serum in his previously discussed in my arcs from Slade saving Dick's life, he also maintains this despite the rest being hard to grasp. Dick is both confused and frustrated with Anna's desire to work on occasion with Slade because of her lack of trust in Astarte's motives. He also helps her better than her superior to control her fire of the phoenix. If she lets – Oh, right. The other arc will tell you previous info about her powers.)

"It's going through…. some maintenance. So, officer? –

"Just, Dick." He grumbled. "I can't believe you stuck it out with him?? How old are you? Twenty - five?"

" You have to be pushing forty." Rose grinned snidely, one eye as mocking as her dad's blue – grey.

"At least I'm stuck with her baby pictures, sure… but you don't have to –

" Ow!"

Someone, specifically ANNA, had kicked the back of Dick's seat. "She has your temper, you know. Pretty funny to see you both getting along." Giggled Rose, as she pulled out a magazine from her carry – on bag. "Take a nap or something. By tomorrow, you won't have to worry about your kid - soldier."

/

So, different characters will end up in the same country LATER. Don't rush. Iyori is like a power source in post stories (Roku going after Dick in new beginning arcs) (similar to Shounen Onmyouji.) She's also cursed to carry a power that came from Jorogumo's venom and that will be explained with Ageha's true identity and backstory. Anyway, I also have a surprise as to what Aya really is! Think…..insect with a little bit of heart? Not a beetle!
