Twilight, Princess Cadence, and Shining Armor were able to inform the Princesses and their friends about what happen that morning, informing them that both Comet and Daylight ran away from the Crystal Empire, heading towards the mountains after learning about the dream between the raven and the pack of wolves. Both Princess Cadence and Twilight in one of the rooms, crying their tears out which it's loud enough for Shining Armor to hear. He looked at the door with sad look, feeling bad for not trying to comfort them since Princess Cadence and Twilight need to be alone, but he's also feeling worried for the two foals getting themselves into danger.

The rest of the Mane 8, 6 foals, Spike, and the Princesses arrived at the Crystal Empire, learning from Shining Armor who told them about Comet and Daylight having a dream few days ago while running away from the empire without them. It got them worried, doing a frantic search all over the Crystal Empire. They even ask the Crystal Ponies if they see Comet and Daylight running off somewhere, but unfortunately, neither of the ponies have seen them since they've arrived yesterday. The Elemental Masters even help them searches the two foals in between Ponyville, Canterlot, Appleloosa, and the Everfree Forest, but neither of them had luck at all.

"Sorry, y'all, we couldn't find them here." Applejack said.

"We looked everywhere, and we even look all over in Equestria!" Rainbow Dash adds.

"We asked them if they saw Comet and Daylight, but neither of them saw them leaving." Fluttershy said sadly.

"But that doesn't make any sense, why would they leave without us?" Storm Hawk asks with worry. "Why couldn't they tell us about this dream they've been having? I mean, I notice Comet and Daylight are very tired in school, it's not like them!"

"I saw it, too." Rose Lotus agrees. "What could this dream about the raven and wolves be so important? And why at the mountains?"

Apparently, Princess Luna and Wild Heart were the only ones who know about why Comet and Daylight left Crystal Empire that morning, because of the dream they've been having for the past few days. Also, they learned of the trials of the totems and what they're for, which Comet and Daylight now know what those three trials are for, and the reason why they left.

"I believe I can tell you about why they left." Princess Luna said, earned their attention. "The reason why is because they found the answers of the trials they alone will have to face."

"Trials? What do you mean?" Twilight asks when she and Princess Cadence came out of the room, approaching them.

"The three trials Comet and Daylight will face are three animals: Fox, Wolverine, and Bear." Princess Luna explains, using her magic to show three animal totems. "The fox is a cunning trickster who would mislead to others, they are very clever and intelligent to provoke of harm other animals. A task that's important to learn to trust in themselves. The wolverine so fierce and resilient they would show their enemies the meaning of fear. A task to face them. And the bear, an intimidating animal and a task that they must find strength deep within themselves."

It got the ponies very worried about it and realizing why the two foals left without them. But with everything they've learned from the Princess of the Night and the trials, it got them thinking that they need to find Comet and Daylight at the mountains and bring them home.

"But what they'll be heading is filled with danger! They're too young to go to that path on their own." Twilight protests, went to mother mode. "We have to find them and maybe we could..."

"No!" Princess Luna interrupts. "This is the journey and quest that both Comet and Daylight must face alone."

"What?! Why?" Golden Charm exclaims in shock.

"Yeah, what gives?" Apple Shine adds.

"We cannot interfere, it will not only upset them, but it will also upset the spirits." Wild Heart told them when he approached from the entrance with a serious glare. "Comet and Daylight need to do this on their own. Despite them being young, they are ready to face the trials and their journey is theirs alone."

"And this is where they have to learn their human heritage and for who they are, we must hope that Comet and Daylight pass the trials and made it home safely." Princess Luna adds.

Both Princess Luna and Wild Heart were making a valid point while telling them about the two foals passing the trials, learning about their heritage, and finding the answers on why the raven leading them to the pack of wolves in the mountains. The ponies can see that Wild Heart and Princess Luna are serious, which they can understand what the two are telling them, but they're still worried about Comet and Daylight leading themselves into danger. Princess Cadence and Twilight are starting to fill their eyes in tears, looking at the outside of Crystal Empire, hoping for their kids to get back safely.

At the forest, both Comet and Daylight are readying their magic while a wolf snarls at the two, charging after them as they fire their magic which causes the wolf to leap away. Comet and Daylight dodge from the pounce, firing the bolt again as the wolf dodged it as well. The fog began to clear up which causes Comet and Daylight to widen their eyes when they saw a wolf from their dream.

"You're the wolf from our dream!" Daylight exclaims, which the wolf stops and looked at them in confusion.

"Wait, you saw me in my dream?" The wolf asks, but gasp in shock. "You're the guys from my dream!"

"Yeah, we also saw a raven and wolves from the snowy mountains and ice ground." Comet told him.

"So did I, and...I also remembered about the totems." The wolf agrees. "Anyway, what are you two doing here? Shouldn't you be heading home?"

"I'm sorry, but we were heading towards the mountain to find the wolves." Daylight said. "And, we were wondering if you can help us."

"Why?" The wolf asks. "I came here to look for my daughter, her name is Aleu."

"Why? What happen?" Daylight asks, worried.

"Well, I told her about her heritage and her appearance, she got that from me and we had a fight, and next thing I know she ran away." The wolf explains, sighed with guilt. "It's my fault that I didn't tell her sooner."

Comet and Daylight can tell that he felt bad for not telling her sooner about Aleu had a wolf appearance from her father and not the dog appearance from her mother.

"Anyway, that's why I came here looking for her." The wolf said. "My names Balto."

"I'm Comet Stardust. This is my sister, Daylight Savings." Comet introduced to him. "We were out here in the forest, heading for the mountains to find the wolves. But if Aleu is there, maybe we can work together to find her."

"Wait, you want to help me?" Balto asks surprisingly as Comet and Daylight nods. "I don't know, I don't wanna put you two in danger and..."

"Balto, we can't go back to the Crystal Empire. We just want to go to the snowy mountains to find the wolves, which is why we're going to help you." Daylight points out.

Balto can tell that the two foals are serious about helping him find Aleu while heading for the snowy mountains to find the pack of wolves. Though, it would give them help on passing the trials and finding her.

"Alright, you can come, but stay close to me and don't get lost." Balto said with a sigh in reluctance as they head out. "So, what was your story? Have you two got into a fight with your mother?"

"Not exactly, but you wouldn't believe if we tell you." Comet told him.

"Well, care to enlighten me?" Balto inquires.

Comet and Daylight told them about their past while Balto listens carefully of what they're telling him.

An hour later after Comet and Daylight told him about their backstory, Balto was astonished about them once being humans on Earth. Balto felt bad for the two foals, which he learned about Comet once known as Elijah from Brooklyn, New York, who had a normal life with his parents and having a very bad situation of being picked on from kids age for his heritage and related to his uncle and his aunt who are affiliated with the Italian Mafia and killed in a crossfire after saving his friend. He also learned about Daylight lived in Norfolk, Virginia after her birth parents passed away because her father died of cancer and her mother passed away. He was also glad that the two foals had a good life and a loving family in Equestria since they got second chance.

"I see, I'm sorry about what happen to you both." Balto said with sincere. "But at least you got someone who cares and love you."

Comet and Daylight smiled at that, thankful of his sympathy. They then continued to head out to look for Aleu, which they were at the river to look for her. With no luck, Balto, Comet, and Daylight kept looking for her while try to get around, but the white clouds were gathered around and it turned into a shape of the wolf's head, howling. Balto, Comet, and Daylight couldn't help but felt like they're being watched from behind as they turned their heads around, and seeing that there's no one around. They then heard a cawing sound as the raven flew out of the clouds, past them and perched on a branch. Balto glares at the raven and spoke.

"You! What is it you want?" Balto demands as he, Comet, and Daylight walk towards the raven.

The raven responds by flying down to the ground, causing them to follow it when the black bird fly up to another tree branch, perched it.

"I think it wants us to follow it." Comet said.

"How could you tell?" Balto asks.

"We were following the raven earlier last night and leaving our family behind at the Crystal Empire." Daylight explains, glances at the raven. "I think it's trying to help us find Aleu and the wolves."

Balto raises his eyebrow, now understands why Comet and Daylight left their home because they ran away in order to follow the raven without their family. He already had half of mind on taking them back home and give them an explanation, but the other half wants him to help them find the wolf back since they're helping him find Aleu. He can only sighed in reluctance since they won't be coming back to the Crystal Empire and it's already too late to take them.

"Alright, but only if we find Aleu and getting you two back home." Balto said as Comet and Daylight nods.

And with that, Balto, Comet, and Daylight follow the raven, who's guiding through the foggy grassy meadow which causes them to stop while try to find the black bird.

"Wait, we can't follow you in this!" Balto shouts, searching for the raven. "Where are you?"

"Where are you?" The female voice said which it got their attention.

"Here!" Balto called out as he and the two foals are walking towards the log. "Keep talking and we'll find you."

But just Balto, Comet, and Daylight were climbing over to the log, where they were below the river current, they tread carefully and try not to fall into the river, tumbled a bit after the log tilted a little. They were able to regain their balance, slowly walking and noticed a fox tied up by a snare which made the two foals widen their eyes.

"A cunning trickster..."

'Oh no...' Comet and Daylight mentally thought while Balto sighed with relief.

"You look disappointed." The fox said with a smirk, glances at the two foals while Balto looks away. "And you two looked surprised."

Though, surprised isn't the right word to describe, more like they remembered about the fox as the cunning trickster as Comet and Daylight glaring at her.

"Sorry, we just thought you might be a raven." Balto points out, glances at the fox.

"And I thought you three might be the hunter." The fox remarked, struggling to get out. "But unlike you, I'm not disappointed."

Comet, Daylight, and Balto could be stay silent as the fox continued.

"Say, I'll help you find your daughter if you'll help me out of this trap." The fox said which made Balto and the two foals shocked, still trying to get out of that trap.

"How did you know we're looking for Aleu?" Comet asks.

"The raven told me." The fox answered simply.

"What do you know about the raven?" Balto asks.

"Less than you, I'm sure." The fox said. "Now, do we have a deal? Or don't we?"

"Yes, but no tricks." Balto replied, helping the fox by pulling the snare out of her head as he tosses the rope away. "There. Now, how can you help us find my daughter?"

"Easy, by giving you a little push." The fox replied as she slyly walks underneath him, pushes him, Comet, and Daylight as they fell into the river.

Balto, Comet, and Daylight are swimming to merge out of the water, but the currents were too strong and they're struggling to get to the surface.

"Why did you do that?!" Daylight demands, trying to swim. "Help!"

"Oh, but I did." The fox replied slyly. "And now, you must help yourself!"

Balto, Comet, and Daylight were still trying to swim through the currents, but it got them noticing the waterfall straight ahead, much to their dread. The currents dragged them into the waterfall, causing them to fall down into the water the second time and it them lacking oxygen as they desperately swim towards the rocks, grabbing hold of them.

"Are you crazy?!" Balto shouts, but ducks under from the current. "The current is too strong!"

"Then let the current take you!" The fox shouts back.

Balto, Comet, and Daylight widen their eyes in horror as the current swept them out of those rocks, merging them into the water as they're struggling to swim.

Meanwhile at the Crystal Empire, Twilight and Princess Cadence are in the room pacing back and forth with worried look on their faces. They were hoping for Comet and Daylight to get back home, but apparently, they've only been gone for only half a day and neither of them are having any luck of finding them. Their friends decided to call it a day to head home and hoping for the two foals to get back. Mario, however, stayed behind to keep them company along with Shining Armor, who needs an extra helping hoof, he went inside of the room. He noticed Twilight and Princess Cadence pacing around in the room.

"I know what you two are thinking. You're worried about them?" Mario asks, earned their attention.

"How could we not? I mean, Comet and Daylight have never been out on their own, not without telling us!" Twilight remarked. "We couldn't help it for feeling worried for our kids!"

"I know Aunt Luna doesn't want us to interfere, but we just want to see if they're okay." Princess Cadence adds. "I don't what would happen if they ever get hurt from dangerous creatures...or worse!"

Mario can understand how they're feeling about them, but seeing Princess Cadence and Twilight imagining what would happen to the two foals getting themselves killed is making it worse.

"Cady, you know as much as I do that Comet and Daylight can handle themselves. They learned from me and Twi." Mario points out. "They've been into bad situations before, you know that."

"They've only been with us during times in the situation." Twilight told him. "But on their own?!"

"Twi, the only thing we can do is have faith in them." Mario said. "This journey is theirs; you must believe in them."

"Are you sure Comet and Daylight can do this?" Princess Cadence asks as Mario nods, causing her to sigh. "Alright, but if we find out about Comet and Daylight aren't coming, then we'll look for them!"

Mario can only respond in silent, seeing Twilight and Princess Cadence very determined on finding those foals.

While at the river, Balto groans with his eyes open as he check his bearings, remembering of him and the two foals being swept from the current thanks to the fox. It got him worried as he begins the search, gasp when he saw two of the foals unconscious.

"Comet! Daylight!" Balto called out, rushes to the two foals as he checks the heartbeat from his ear. "Oh no!"

While Balto tried to save Comet and Daylight, both of the foals were inside of their conscious as Princess Luna approaches them.

"Aunt Luna!?" Comet and Daylight exclaims in shock.

"I went inside of your consciousness and apparently, you two were having a bit of trouble." Princess Luna told them, feeling a little worried.

"Does Mom and Aunt Cadence...know about this?" Daylight asks nervously.

"Yes, but I told them not to interfere since this is your journey." Princess Luna answered with a nod. "However, I think they wanted to see you when you're either asleep or something happen to you. I'm bringing them here now."

And with that, Princess Luna uses her magic to bring Twilight, Princess Cadence, and Shining Armor in their conscious mind. Both Twilight and Princess Cadence noticed them as they rushed to the two foals, hugging them in tears while Shining Armor just walk next them. Comet and Daylight felt bad for leaving them last night, but neither of them wanted them to get involved for the journey. They hugged them in return.

"Comet, Daylight, you two had us worried!" Princess Cadence cried. "What were you thinking?! Going out alone!"

"Do either of you have any idea what could've happen when somepony comes after you?!" Twilight adds as she and Princess Cadence breaks the hug.

Comet and Daylight could only stay silent, looking down in shame. Princess Cadence and Twilight can tell of how these two foals felt, which it's understandable. Princess Luna walks toward them.

"Can you tell us what happened?" Princess Luna inquires.

Comet and Daylight started explaining of how it happened while Princess Luna, Princess Cadence, Twilight, and Shining Armor listened carefully. Of course, they told them they met a wolf from their dream who goes as Balto, tried to help him find his daughter, Aleu, and instead meeting with the fox who was trapped and tricking them by fell into the river currents it left them unconscious.

"I see, it would explain how you two were unconscious." Princess Luna said, knew the reason why the fox did it while Twilight, Princess Cadence, and Shining Armor felt worried. "But I'm not surprised, considering that the fox is cunning."

"But why would that fox do that? All they ever did is try to help out!" Shining Armor said.

"Did they...fail the trial?" Twilight asks.

"No, the trial is far from over." Princess Luna answered. "But right now, they're about to regain their consciousness. And it's best we let them continue."

And with that, both Comet and Daylight disappeared as they're about to wake up.

Balto pressing their chests with his paws, trying to get them to regain their consciousness as Comet and Daylight cough the water out their mouths. Balto steps off of the two foals as they roll over to their fore-hooves, coughing and gagging out more waters. The two foals pants heavily for air, then looks over at Balto.

"Are you two okay?" Balto asks with concern.

"Yeah...We're fine...Thanks..." Daylight said, smiled with heavy breaths.

"Balto!" The voice shouts, earned their attention. "Balto, can you hear me?!"

"Boris?" Balto said.

"Don't worry, boychik! Boris is coming!" Boris shouts as the goose, and two polar bears named Muk and Luk ran to them as they jump into the river, but stops when the fog covered their path.

"What's happening, Uncle Boris?" Muk asks when he and Luk sandwiches the goose, who pushes them away for air.

"I don't know, I can't see nothing." Boris said. "Balto! Balto! Balto!"

"It's Aleu!" Balto exclaims, caught her scent.

"Answer me!" Boris shouts.

"Boris, I've Aleu's trail." Balto told him. "Go back and tell Jenna not to worry. We're going to find Aleu and her home. Come on."

"But what about them?" Comet asks.

"Don't worry, they'll let her know." Balto said. "Let's go!"

And with that, Comet and Daylight followed Balto, leaving Boris and two polar bears alone.

"Come, we do as Balto says and go tell Jenna." Boris said as he walked away.

"But, Uncle Boris, Luk and me want to go on a journey." Muk complains as he and Luk follows him.

"I'm sorry, boys, but this journey is for Balto and Aleu alone." Boris told them, but little did they know the white wolf watching from the cliff.

The sun begins to set beyond the horizonwhen Balto, Comet, and Daylight are now at the mountains facing three wolverines, who are surrounding them with vicious look on their faces.

"Your fears"

"We have no reason to fight with the wolverine clan." Balto said. "What do you want?"

"You invade our territory! What do you want?!"

Comet and Daylight remembered of the wolverine being very territorial, aggressive, and fierce to anyone who trespassing it. But since they're in the mountain territory, the wolverines are very furious.

"Only to pass through unharmed, I'm looking for my daughter." Balto said.

"We're looking for the wolf pack." Comet adds, but the wolverines aren't convinced as they surround them.

"They're looking for his daughter and the wolf pack!"

"Yes, and they follow the raven!"

"A raven! Why not a fox? Or did she outwit you?"

The wolverines laughed in mockery, causing Balto, Comet, and Daylight to slowly back away.

"Tell me, are you afraid?"

The wolverines laughed again with a sneer.

"No!" Balto remarked which is the wrong answer as the wolverines slowly walk towards them, making him, Comet, and Daylight back away.

"Come now, are you suuuuurrrrreee?"

They're now realizing what they were dealing with.

"Okay, okay, we're afraid-"

"Of course you are! And you must listen to your fears, let them lead you back to the safety of your cozy little home!"

Balto, Comet, and Daylight are now against the wall of the mountain with nowhere else to run and the wolverines slowly approaching them.

"Look, how they're given in to their fear!"

"Yes!"

"Soon they'll run home like a whimpering dogs they are!"

The wolverines continued to mock them, but Balto, Comet, and Daylight won't back down as they scowl at them.

"No! I'm afraid, but not of you!" Balto, Comet, and Daylight said, making the wolverines back away.

"I'm afraid of my daughter!" Balto shouts.

"We're afraid of losing our friends and our family!" Comet adds.

"And we're afraid of not finding the wolves!" Daylight adds.

"And we have to find them! So got out of our way!" Balto, Comet, and Daylight shouts as they get ready for a fight, but the wolverines decided to back down since they pass the trial.

"Stop following the raven!"

"Go home! Go home!"

And then, the wolverines vanished, leaving them alone with shocked look on their faces.

"Where did they go?" Daylight asks.

"I don't know, it's like they vanished...into thin air." Comet said.

"It's more like they weren't never here." Balto told them, sniffing the ground. "Come on, we'll find shelter and rest up for the night."

Comet and Daylight agreed as they followed Balto which the white wolf is watching as she vanished. While at the other mountain, a female wolf named Aleu is also at the mountain, running away from home after learned from her father that she's more of a wolf than a husky. She made herself a long journey and now she's starting to get tired when she notices the sun is setting.

"What am I doing?" Aleu questions herself with a sigh. "I'm running away, but I have no idea where I'm going. I've gotta get out of the sun."

Then, the cawing sound was heard and the raven flew to her at the mountain, earned her attention when the black bird past her.

"Are you following me?" Aleu asks when the raven showed her to the entrance of the cave, perched on a branch as the wolf went inside of the cave to rest up for the night.

That's it for the 5th chapter.
