. . . . .

Rin and Obito watched Jiraiya make some last minute check overs of the seal written on the floor of their chosen work room in Konoha hospital. Obito hadn't told him who in detail, but it was enough for the man to figure it out. Despite how he fumed, he held his composure quite well as he helped them.

Kiisu stepped in the room, interrupting them. "You've got five minutes before the target arrives with Lekismon. If they see you Lord Jiraiya-"

"He'll bail. I got it." Jiraiya pushed himself to his feet. He looked at Rin and Obito. "Was this even your original intention when you asked me to teach you?"

Rin just smiled, and pressed a finger to her lips. Her hands trembled. Her entire frame trembled. She was sure she wasn't the only one wondering exactly how she was able to stand at the moment. She giggled, her eyes widening and her gaze focusing on Jiraiya.

Obito's hand grasped one of her own. "She's fine. This wasn't our first thought with this, no."

Jiraiya and Obito shared a look.

"Stop staring, you're making it worse." Obito almost pleaded.

Jiraiya nodded and sighed softly. "Without knowing the exact seal you'll be working against I can't tell for sure if your realized…" he gestured to the room around them, "...idea will work, but it is sound, and stable enough to not kill you or them if you fail."

Rin did a jig, still giggling. "Of course it will work. Of course it will."

Jiraiya walked past Rin and Obito, headed towards Kiisu. "I'm leaving him to you."

Obito turned to look at them and saluted. "We've got this. They'll be right as rain in no time."

Jiraiya and Kiisu left the room. Obito hated doing this at night, but it was the only time they could safely do it. Rin turned around. She grabbed his hands and swung them back and forth, up and down.

"We've got this." Obito looked at her as his heart fluttered in his chest. "We've got this."

They waited, standing just outside the center of the seal. He couldn't wait until they got the rest of the seal finished and worked out and the room stopped looking like a group of children were drawing graffiti on everything just for fun.

In due time, Lekismon appeared with Orochimaru in a swirl of blue ribbon. Orochimaru looked around the room, immediately studying his surroundings.

Lekismon was still pink and still a bunny, but was nowhere near as tall as anyone thought she would be. She was just a little taller than Kakashi was by the time he reached chuunin. But Obito knew not to disregard her for her size. She broke a sturdy table with a single punch and hadn't expected the attempt to work when she tried. Apparently one of the things Kiisu nabbed from Shizune was how Tsunade broke things and people with a single finger. Lekismon took on training the skill even when she was Lunamon. Solely to learn how to better protect Rin.

Orochimaru took in Rin swinging Obito's arms this way and that, and raised an eyebrow. "Problems in paradise?"

Obito was stiff, but kept his mouth shut. He had to admit that if anyone outside their group saw Rin at the moment, they'd immediately declare her unfit for work. The irony of their situation was not lost on him. It only further served to upset him about everything wrong with the current set up of society as he had come to understand it.

Rin's head snapped to the side like she had been slapped, but all she had done was turn her head so she was looking at the older man. "I'm in a one-sided, abusive relationship with life." She spat.

Obito felt her fingers twitching against his own hand. He squeezed them.

She grinned in response. "Pardon me for the impropriety."

Orochimaru chuckled in a mix of both amusement and boredom.

"Please do not goad Rin." Lekismon backed up so she was resting against the wall. "I am not sure I could stop her if she decides to attack you." She studied her blue Moon Gloves, adjusting them on her hands.

Obito shook his head, wondering if this was his life now.

"Hmm…" Orochimaru stepped forward. "We are discussing the more…intricate terms of your side of the agreement, yes?" He looked down at Obito. Obito looked right back at him.

"Yea." Rin pulled her hands away from Obito's. "If I'm right, you get to think properly again."

Orochimaru's golden eyes studied her as she circled around him. "And if you're wrong?"

"If I'm wrong, you now know a secret I can't make you un-know." Rin spun, holding out her arms. "I think that's worth you being my bodyguard. Don't you? Just one event."

Lekismon's ears drooped ever so slightly, but maintained her composure.

"Don't you already have one?" Orochimaru looked at nothing in particular.

Obito wanted to smack them both. Not even the most vain of Uchiha would attempt this. So who was more off their rocker? He couldn't tell anymore.

"She's for something else." Rin rocked back and forth as she waited. "Take your time."

Orochimaru took the suggestion, and thought about his options. All parties in the room knew that he couldn't voice his thoughts aloud, and even if he could, he wouldn't. He examined the seal drawn on the floor, looking at it, yet not trying to decipher the symbols more than he actually was from his training. He hadn't realized he hid his hands within the sleeves of his kimono as he folded his arms. No one pointed it out that he had.

They got their answer when he stepped inside the ring of drawn seals. He looked at Rin expectantly.

"Yours or mine?" Obito asked.

"Yours won't like him, I think." Rin replied.

"They're not people," Obito countered, "and I've got more chakra."

"You and Coronamon threw a fit when you realized it was him operating on you." Rin replied, fishing out her digivice. "Can you see Coronamon just hanging out with him?"

"Actually, yea." Obito folded his arms. "And that was only because you didn't tell me he was who you asked."

"Who else would it have been?" Rin huffed. She freely touched Orochimaru like he was a close friend. "Stand about there." She stepped back. "Yup. There. And take this." She held out her digivice.

Orochimaru looked at the item for a moment before taking it from her.

"When you're ready, focus your chakra on it, and prepare to have the world's worst headache. Like, imagine the worst headache you've ever had and multiply it a few times." Rin giggled, rocking back and forth. "It's gonna be so bad. You need to focus on your chakra for most of the time until it works."

"And if this doesn't work?" He asked again. "If you utterly fail?"

"There's things worse than death." Rin poked his chest. "You're experiencing one of them."

Orochimaru looked down at the device. He focused his chakra. Obito wheeled himself over to Lekismon. Lekismon walked by him.

"I give him thirty seconds before he starts screaming." Rin said, taking a step back.

A swirling barrier of glittering sparkles surrounded Orochimaru. His eyes narrowed in pain as he looked at it. His breathing slowly increased in speed. The seals around him lit up, illuminating the usually dark room. Rin's digivice glowed even brighter. Symbols spread out from the seal on the floor and crawled along the floor.

Orochimaru fell to his knees. His hair fell around his face. He curled in on himself, holding Rin's digivice closer against his chest. He clenched the device with enough force that it should have broken and cracked, but it held strong. He looked up at Rin, staring through squinted eyes. Rin's hair flowed around her. Her arms reached out over him.

He gasped, trying not to scream. He swallowed repeatedly. His eyes watered. He threw up though he was trying not to. Remnants of food and blood covered the floor. He stared at the mess he made, barely comprehending it, as his vision wavered.

"Holy shit." Rin said as the seals and her digivice glowed brighter. "They got you good."

"Down he goes." Obito said. "Just like Kiisu."

Orochimaru laid on his side, unsure of when he fell. His grip loosened on Rin's digivice as his arms fell away from his chest. His lips moved as he tried to speak. No sound came out.

"Good night. We'll take it from here." Rin said again.

He passed out, thought it was clear he hadn't wanted to.

Rin and Lekismon pooled their chakra together and continued the task, holding hands with their arms hovering over Orochimaru's body. They remained where they were for what seemed like hours. Blood continued streaming out of Orochimaru's nose and mouth.

"C'mon." Rin hissed. "Get off him already. How strong is this one?"

More waiting, more chakra thrown into the task. Eventually though, the barrier of swirling, glittering sparkles shattered like glass. The sparkles fell around them. Rin's digivice stopped glowing. She broke away from Lekismon.

Lekismon clasped her hands together and focused. An aura of green healing chakra surrounded Orochimaru. She started listing off medical complications.

Meanwhile Rin dropped to her knees, ignoring the mess around and underneath her. Her fingers were steady as she opened up Orochimaru's kimono and got to work. Obito stood, partially walked partially jogged over to them, dragging his wheelchair with him. He already had grabbed the scroll settled within the bag hanging on the handle. He unsealed the scroll and set the scroll and the spread of sterilized medical equipment onto the seat of the chair. He ignored the blood and mess he was stepping in.

When Rin asked him for a tool, he knew which tool to grab and handed it to her. When she asked for chakra, he put a Akimichi brand chakra pill in between her lips and pressed his hands to her back. His sharingan active, he studied all that Rin was doing. He massaged her shoulders when Orochimaru's heart stopped once, squeezed them when it stopped again. Lekismon never stopped speaking. The green never faded away from Orochimaru's body.

"Oh fuck you! You're not taking him, y-you wretched piece of shit!" Rin spat. Her chakra surged. A glorious swirling blue he'd forever remember.

Obito's eye burned by the time Rin finished. She turned around and looked up at him. "You've been dripping blood on my hair for the past ten minutes. Can you take care of that please?" She held up her own bloody hands.

He blinked, taking in the splatters of blood on her forehead. He gently dabbed at the corner of his eye with a sleeve and looked at the blood on the fabric. "Ohh, that's what that was."

"You're a dork." Rin replied. She walked him through how to clean up his eye while she cleaned up her hands and herself.

Lekismon continued pouring healing chakra into Orochimaru. The duo cleaned up the room. Kiisu joined them partway through.

"Was…was it this bad for me?" He asked, taking in the state of the room. "It looks like a murder scene in here."

"No." Rin replied. "His seal was stronger. They knew he'd struggle when he figured out what was done to him."

Obito was currently wiping the blood off of Rin's digivice with an antiseptic wipe. He was impressed. Orochimaru looked like he was sleeping as he breathed. He only had the barest hint of a scar in the middle of his chest to the left of his sternum. Nonou and Kiisu both taught Rin really well. There was no way anyone would think of the marred skin as a surgical scar.

The trio continued cleaning up. When they were mostly done, Kiisu rummaged through Obito's backpack. He grabbed a scroll from it. He set it on the seat, propping it against the back of Obito's wheelchair. "Change your clothes, or Lord Jiraiya will have a heart attack when he sees you. I'll be back in ten."

Rin and Obito looked at their destroyed clothes. A worthy sacrifice, they deemed. The green aura faded from Orochimaru as they finished up the last bits of cleaning up. Lekismon reverted to Lunamon and leaned up against the wall, half asleep.
