Gaius walked into his room holding a bowl. But Merlin couldn't keep his head straight. He didn't know if this was real. There was no way possible he moved from the armoury to lake to his room. He put the soup on Merlin's drawer and rushed to kneel by him. "Merlin." he spoke softly. But still Merlin couldn't focus on him. "Merlin!" Merlin attention snapped at him.

"G… Gaius?" Merlin felt the sweat trickle down his face, "What… what is going on?"

"I was hoping you might enlighten me on that." Gaius said with a light smile.

"I was by the lake… I was with Lancelot…. Freya... and-!" Merlin bolted to his feet, "We are in danger!" Gaius rose to his feet and put his hands on top of his hands.

"Merlin calm down!" Merlin looked at Gaius reassuring eyes, but he couldn't trust it… it could be another hallucination.

"I will not! Morgana is here… in Camelot!" Gaius nodded his head, looked at his bed, before he shepherded him to it.

"Is that why the armoury was in such a mess?" Merlin swallowed deeply.

"She was there and we fought." Gaius didn't say anything and his eyes held no judgement, "And I killed her or hurt her." Merlin wiped the sweat from his forehead and eyes, and Gaius nodded with a sympathetic look on his face and patted his shoulder. Does Gaius think I'm crying? She was too far gone. The time for mercy was far gone. "She went too far Gaius. I did what I had to do." Merlin didn't know why he felt the need to justify himself to what felt like an illusion.

"I see." Despite the fact that he had justified himself to Gaius, Gaius's eyes still felt probing. Merlin didn't like it. They sat there next to each other in silence before Merlin cleared his throat.

"What? What's wrong?" Gaius stood up and paced, "Gaius what is it? I know you cared about Morgana but she went too far." Gaius stopped pacing and looked at him and sat beside him. His eyes were conflicted. Like Gaius was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

"Merlin… I don't know how to say this." Gaius stopped talking and scratched his jaw, "You said you killed Morgana?" Merlin nodded not wanting to interrupt Gaius, "How sure are you that you killed her?"

"I ran her through with a blade. It was also a direct hit. I'm pretty sure I know what I did Gaius. I heard her body hit the floor." Gaius licked his lips in nervousness, "Gaius whatever it is… just tell me."

"We didn't find a body-."

"So? She can vanish in a blink of an eye."

"Or blood. Or anything." Merlin didn't say anything and just kept looking at the illusion of Gaius, "Where did you see her?"

"I was with Gwaine and I saw her walking through the courtyard." Gaius shifted uncomfortably.

"And did Gwaine see her?" Why was Gaius asking all these questions?! Merlin shook his head trying to contain his anger. Why was Gaius questioning him? He never did that before! "Merlin… is it possible you imagined this entire encounter?" Merlin looked at Gaius and he kept his tone level and his expression calm.

"No. I know what I saw and I know it was real." Merlin scanned his memory to find a way a person could corroborate his version of events and then it dawned on him, "I chased after her! I ran after her. People must have seen that!" Gaius scratched his head.

"Merlin, a sighting of Morgana would... there would be chaos if anyone saw her. No one there in the courtyard, saw her. They saw you running but nothing else." Merlin felt his breathing quicken once again, "The armoury was in a state…" Merlin stopped listening to Gaius. Was it possible? Did I… Did I imagine it? Merlin looked up to look at Gaius. He could see Gaius mouth move but he couldn't hear what he was saying. Merlin blinked and rubbed his eyes to try and concentrate on what Gaius was saying. But even then, he couldn't hear a thing. Until there was this wheezing sound. It sounded like someone was struggling to breathe. Did Gaius have another patient?

Merlin looked around him… where was that sound coming from? Even if Gaius had another patient why would he be here? It was then Merlin's blood ran cold as he slowly turned around…

Gaius was incredibly confused. He was sure Merlin was with him… in the beginning at least. He didn't know exactly when he lost Merlin. But one benefit was that he could see exactly what happens.

As soon as Merlin turned around, he bolted from his bed. He looked like a cornered animal. His eyes were frightened and in shock. His breathing was harsh and quick. And his face was red with exertion. "Merlin?" Merlin didn't focus on him; his eyes were on his bed. Gaius turned around to see if there was anything but there was nothing, "Merlin?" It was at that moment Merlin collapsed to his knees. Gaius bolted to his feet and went to Merlin. Did he pass out? Gaius went to his knees by Merlin, to see Merlin had in fact not passed out but his eyes were filling with tears. Before like a burst dam, Merlin let a loose a torrent of emotions. Whatever held Merlin back before, no longer seemed to work.

The tears pored down his cheeks as he panted words that Gaius couldn't comprehend nor understand. Whenever Gaius tried to reach Merlin to reassure him Merlin would bat his hands away and just carried on crying. "I'M SORRY WILL!" Merlin shouted, "I AM SO SORRY! Please forgi-!" Merlin's eyes went gold and he sent himself flying to the wall knocking himself out.
