Stripe's Rainy Day Ride
It was a rainy day in Brisbane, the kind where the sky was a dull grey and the streets were slick with water. Stripe stood at the train station, waiting patiently for his train to arrive. He glanced up at the digital display, which showed that the next train was due in five minutes. The sound of rain tapping against the platform's roof was almost soothing, and Stripe pulled his jacket a little tighter around him to keep out the chill.
After a short wait, the train pulled into the station, its headlights cutting through the misty rain. It was a three-car trainset, an IMU160, sleek and modern. Stripe didn't hesitate—he stepped on board, finding a seat by the window. The train was warm and dry, a welcome contrast to the gloomy weather outside.
As the train pulled away from the station, Stripe settled into his seat, watching the rain streak down the window. The familiar rhythm of the train on the tracks was comforting, and Stripe began to relax, letting his thoughts wander.
But when the train arrived at the next station and passengers got on and off, Stripe suddenly felt a twinge of unease. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but something didn't feel right. As the train doors closed and it began to move again, the feeling grew stronger. Stripe stared out the window, trying to shake off the worry that was creeping into his mind.
Moments later, Stripe's worst fears were realized. There was a sudden, violent jolt, and the train lurched forward with a loud, grinding noise. The impact was terrifying, and Stripe was thrown against his seat as the train came to an abrupt halt. He could hear metal screeching and glass shattering—it was clear something had gone terribly wrong.
Stripe's heart raced as he tried to understand what had happened. The train had collided with something—a bus, he realized with horror. The realization sent a wave of fear through him. He was involved in a crash, and he didn't know how bad it was or if anyone was hurt.
The train was eerily silent now, the only sound the rain still tapping against the windows. Stripe fumbled for his phone, his hands shaking as he dialed Radley's number. When Radley answered, Stripe's voice was trembling.
"Radley, it's me. I'm on the train… We hit a bus. I—I'm okay, but I'm scared."
Radley's voice was calm and reassuring, though Stripe could hear the concern in his tone. "Stripe, just breathe. It's going to be okay. You're safe now, and that's what matters. We're here for you, no matter what."
Next, Stripe called Bandit. He explained what had happened, his words stumbling over each other as he tried to make sense of the situation. Bandit, like Radley, was calm and supportive. "Stripe, I'm just glad you're okay. Don't worry about anything else right now. We're all here for you."
Hearing his brothers' voices helped Stripe feel a little more grounded, but the fear still lingered. He then called Trixie, knowing she would want to know what had happened.
"Trixie, I'm fine, but there's been an accident. The train I was on hit a bus. It's… it's scary, but I'm okay."
Trixie's voice was filled with concern, but also relief. "Oh, Stripe, I'm so glad you're safe. Don't worry, I'm here for you. Just take it easy and let the authorities handle everything. We'll get through this together."
As Stripe hung up, he felt a mixture of emotions—relief that he was safe, but also a deep worry for those involved in the crash. He knew he had been lucky, and he was grateful to have his family supporting him. The emergency services arrived quickly, attending to the scene and helping the passengers off the train. Stripe followed their instructions, staying calm as he exited the train and moved away from the wreckage.
The rain continued to fall, a somber backdrop to the events of the day. Stripe felt shaken but was comforted by the thought of his family waiting for him. He knew he would be okay, thanks to their support. The train crash was a terrifying experience, but Stripe had come through it, and he knew that with time, he would move past the fear and anxiety it had caused.
As he made his way home, Stripe took a deep breath, grateful for his safety and the love of his family. The day had been a frightening one, but in the end, it reminded him of what truly mattered—being with those who cared about him.
