They both started as friends, the usual thing. He was the happy-go-lucky troublemaker and she was the boring nerd in Magnolia High School. They are basically joined on the hip, one can't be seen without the other. Lucy will help him with his grades and he will bring her to different adventures. The adventure consists of him, his cat Happy, sometimes with Gray and Erza, where they'll do spontaneous stuff. One time after school, Natsu felt restless so he invited Lucy for a midnight swim.

"Come on, it'll be fun!" Natsu insisted as they sneak into their school. They were headed upstairs and Lucy had a feeling where they were going.

"Fun?! Are you out of your mind?! This is breaking and entering!" she aggressively whispered through clenched teeth, looking around to make sure there were no guards, "I can't believe we're doing this and… Why do you have the keys?"

"Found 'em lying around at home, figured we'd borrow them for a bit." he said casually, unlocking the doors.

"What?!"

"Ssshhhh, do you wanna get caught?" he hissed, covering her mouth with his hand. Lucy smacked his hand away and glared at him, but still followed him inside. As suspected, they were in the school's swimming pool exclusive for the swim club. "Dad left the keys and mentioned no one will use this tomorrow."

"And that was your definition of asking permission? Taking the keys? I can't believe I'm part of this crime." she cried, hands pressed on her cheeks as she thought of different scenarios of them getting caught and suspended.

"Come on, it won't be fun if you're not with me. We're partners in crime!" He gently draped his arm over her shoulder, pulling her into a reassuring hug.

"Yeah, right." Lucy said sarcastically, puffing her cheek. Deep inside, her brain was sending alerts as her heart skips a beat. Damn him and his charming self.

Once inside, he tossed the keys onto the bench, next to his scarf, before turning back to Lucy with a grin. The place was dim and the only light source was from the sides inside the pool.

Lucy was absorbing the place when he scooped her into his arms in a bridal style and, with a mischievous grin, tossed her into the pool before following with a loud shout, 'Cannon ball!'. She yelped when the cold water hit her skin and almost hit Natsu in the face when she was trying to get her balance. He wiped the water on his face then grabbed Lucy's waist to make sure she was stable.

"What the fuck, Natsu?!"

"Language, Lucy. A lady like you shouldn't be cursing." Natsu teased with a grin. Her breath caught as Natsu's hands lingered on her waist, his warmth seeping through the chill of the water. She could feel her heart race, not from fear, but from something else. And she knows what it is. Her hands clutched the collar of his wet shirt as they stared at each other for a few seconds before Natsu burst out laughing.

Lucy, caught up in his laughter, couldn't help but join in. She pulled away, only to dunk Natsu underwater with a mischievous grin. When he resurfaced, sputtering, he pinched the bridge of his nose and blew out a burst of air, trying to clear the water from his nose. His eyes squinted in mock annoyance, but the smile tugging at his lips gave him away. Lucy couldn't stop laughing, but her laughter quickly faded when she caught sight of Natsu's mischievous grin. Her heart skipped a beat—she knew that look all too well. It only meant one thing: trouble.

"Oh you're gonna get it, Luce!" Natsu declared, his grin widening as he closed in on her.

About ten minutes after splashing and playing around, Lucy began to tire and moved to the edge of the pool. As she leaned back, catching her breath, she suddenly became aware of how her soaked shirt clung to her body, outlining her light blue bra. Heat flooded her cheeks, and she quickly looked across to see if Natsu noticed. Lucy had never been bold—perhaps tonight, she would indulge that curiosity and see where it might lead.

On the other hand, Natsu quickly averted his gaze, his heart pounding in his chest, ears turning pink. The sight of her had been enough to send his thoughts spiraling, an image of Lucy, drenched and beautiful, lingering in his mind. His imagination, unfortunately, went rogue, conjuring up visions of her spread out, wet from the pool. He shook his head violently to dispel the thought, scolding himself. If Lucy ever knew what ran through his mind, it would be the end of their friendship, and that was a risk he couldn't afford.

Then he heard the soft splash of water, followed by the sensation of delicate arms winding around his shoulders. "L-Luce?" he stammered, a shiver running through him as her chest pressed against his. Uncertain where to place his arms, he felt a mix of excitement and nervousness.

Lucy giggled, her lips just inches from his chin. "Thank you for tonight," she said, before leaning in to kiss his cheek.

Ever since that day, they both sensed that something had changed between them. Their friends made it obvious, teasing them whenever they were together. Lucy and Natsu would either shrug it off or insist they were just friends.

They found themselves physically closer than ever, sitting next to each other, with Lucy feeding Natsu her lunch and Natsu holding her bag on their way home. Sometimes, Natsu would wrap an arm around her waist and pull her close whenever a guy approached her. In turn, Lucy would ensure she had his full attention whenever girls tried to flirt with him.

The tension was palpable, and their friends were beginning to tire of their ambiguous "more than friends but less than lovers" phase. "Just fuck already!" Cana exclaimed with a groan one evening during their get-together, where Lucy was practically sitting on Natsu's lap due to the lack of space.

All day

And all night

We'd stay up

It felt so right

We were so young

We were so dumb

We would get drunk

And then hook up

One night, they lay on Lucy's humongous bed, still laughing from one of Natsu's dad jokes. As their laughter faded, they found themselves facing each other, smiles lingering on their faces. Natsu gently tucked a stray hair behind Lucy's ear, his palm resting on her cheek as they gazed into each other's eyes. The moonlight streamed through the gap between the curtain and window, reflecting in Lucy's eyes and making them sparkle like tiny stars. Natsu was in awe, captivated not only by her beauty but also by the warmth radiating from her presence.

"Wow," he whispered, unable to tear his gaze away. "You look like a goddess."

Lucy chuckled softly, a blush creeping onto her cheeks as she looked away. "You're just saying that because of the moonlight."

"No, really," Natsu replied, a playful grin spreading across his face. "It's all you, Luce. Even without the moon, you shine."

Suddenly feeling shy, Lucy's heart raced, her cheeks flushing as Natsu continued to stare at her intently.

"S-stop staring at me, idiot," she stammered, lifting his hand from her cheek. But he caught her wrist, interlacing their fingers slowly. "Natsu!" she squeaked, completely taken aback.

"Luce…" he whispered, his smile transforming into a soft grin. "I like you."

"Wh-what… I-I…" She sat up, her face burning with embarrassment. Lucy wanted to say so much, but her mind felt overloaded. Looking down, she noticed Natsu still grinning like an infatuated fool. Taking a deep breath, she finally managed to mutter, "I like you too."

"What was that?" he asked, leaning closer.

"I said I like you too! A lot!"

They were both 17 when they attended their first party. After winning the volleyball match against Sabertooth High, one of Natsu's teammates hosted a party, inviting all the juniors and seniors from Magnolia High School. Naturally, Natsu's girlfriend, Lucy, was by his side. It was also their first time trying alcohol. Even though it was illegal, everyone was drinking and having fun. The music blasted for hours, and as the night went on, Lucy realized she was a lightweight. The alcohol was already taking effect—she became clingier and more flirtatious with Natsu. Not that he minded; in fact, he found it hilarious when she asked him to scratch under her chin like a cat, even purring against his chest.

The next morning, Lucy could barely remember the events of the previous night, but the pounding headache was a clear reminder. Thankfully, it was the weekend, but she couldn't escape her parents' reprimands.

"Thank goodness Natsu was sober enough to bring you home. You scared us, darling. You wouldn't answer your phone, and it was already, what, 3 AM?" Layla sighed as she sat in a nearby chair, rubbing her forehead. "Your father won't be happy to know his underage daughter went drinking and came home late."

Lucy bit her lower lip, nervously toying with her fingers. She had never done anything so reckless before, and the shame weighed heavily on her. Raised to be a proper lady, she felt like she had betrayed everything they had taught her. "I'm sorry. It won't happen again."

Layla stood and hugged her daughter tightly. "It better not. Now, call Natsu and invite him over for dinner. You should thank him for tolerating your drunk ass self."

Lucy couldn't help but laugh as her mother pulled away, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "You said 'ass'. Never thought I'd hear that from you, Mom." They both chuckled, the tension easing a bit.

Their first time wasn't as romantic as they had imagined. It was quick, their breaths tinged with the scent of alcohol, accompanied by bursts of laughter. In the host's bathroom, a small make-out session escalated into a flurry of hands and clothes being discarded. Natsu's kisses traveled from her lips down to the south of her body, turning into gentle nibbles to playful bites to tongue darting out to taste her skin. Their soft moans quickly gave way to cries of each other's names, filled with the thrill of the moment. It wasn't long before Natsu lost himself in her, their adrenaline surging before gradually fading.

"I love you," he murmured, kissing her one last time before carefully letting her shaky legs slide to the floor, allowing her to regain her balance.

"I love you too," Lucy gasped, still wrapped in the warmth of the moment with her arms draped around Natsu's shoulders.

Suddenly, a loud knock echoed through the bathroom door, making them freeze. "Hey! If you're done fucking, let us use the toilet! There's only one here!"

They both burst into laughter as they scrambled to gather their clothes. When Natsu opened the door, he was unexpectedly shoved aside by a newcomer who rushed straight for the toilet. Dropping his pants, the guy didn't realize Lucy was still there, prompting her to scream in shock. In an instant, Natsu covered her eyes, "Dude! What is wrong with you?!" He swiftly walked her out of the bathroom, shaking his head in disbelief.

From that moment on, they began to explore each other's bodies with curiosity and enthusiasm. They took their time discovering what they liked and didn't, reveling in the sensations of their skin touching. Natsu delighted in hearing Lucy's soft moans as he thrust into her at just the right spot, the sounds igniting a fire within him.

In turn, Lucy cherished the way she could elicit those primal noises from Natsu when she took control, going down on him with determination. She loved the way he would grip her hair, his breaths hitching as he whispered words meant only for the intimacy of their shared moments. Each exploration deepened their connection, creating a thrilling blend of pleasure and intimacy that left them both craving more.

We were ok

We were alright

Staying awake

'Til the sun rise

We were in love

Couldn't stop us

Like a good drug

Never enough

Natsu and Lucy's relationship could be described as "almost perfect." They rarely fought, were inseparable, and shared secrets like a well-kept treasure. Their connection was undeniable, but when Erza grew frustrated with the couple for neglecting their friendship, she decided it was time for a change. She invited all the girls for a getaway at her family's cabin in Akane Beach, hoping it would give Natsu and Lucy a chance to reconnect with their friends.

"I just want to make sure you're safe, babe," Natsu reasoned, his hands resting gently on Lucy's waist. Despite his concern, Lucy felt a pang of guilt for not spending enough time with her girlfriends. They were currently lounging in the Dragneels' living room, engrossed in yet another horror movie, when Lucy broached the subject.

"Just for a week with the girls. I already told Mom and Dad, and they're fine with it, as long as there's no alcohol involved." Natsu's expression shifted to one of disappointment as he pouted, laying his head on her lap like a kicked puppy.

Lucy rolled her eyes, running her fingers through his hair. "Don't be such a baby, Natsu. You can hang out with the guys while I'm gone. I promise I'll keep you updated."

For a moment, Natsu fell silent, and Lucy felt a pang of sympathy for him. With Gray away at his cousin Lyon's for the summer and Gajeel working part-time at his father's mechanic shop, the only company left for him was his clubmates, who were throwing yet another party that night. Unfortunately, Natsu didn't feel like partying without Lucy by his side.

"Wendy has also been begging you to join her at her school's summer camp. Maybe that's a sign for you to go," Lucy suggested.

Natsu whined, burying his face in her thighs. "Yeah, but that's a month away from you."

Lucy sighed, feeling the weight of their impending separation. They shared a comfortable silence until Natsu suddenly got up, stretching his arms overhead before leaning down to kiss her softly.

"Not enough," Lucy murmured breathlessly as he pulled away. She cupped his cheeks and drew him in for another lingering kiss.

"Alright, but I'm keeping you by my side at all times when I come back," he said with a playful grin, closing his eyes and resting his forehead against hers.

"I'm not going anywhere when you return. I love you, you know that?" Lucy said, her voice soft yet firm.

"I love you too, Luce," Natsu replied, a genuine smile breaking across his face as he leaned for another kiss.

During that one week, Lucy would send Natsu videos and pictures of the beach, the girls, and even her swimsuit. Unfortunately for him, Erza had restricted her from video calling him the first three nights, allowing only goodnight texts and digital kisses before sleep. Lucy loved reconnecting with her friends and the gossip she'd learned in one night was both shocking and overwhelming, but nothing compared to how much she missed Natsu. There was a saying that echoed in her mind often now: "distance makes the heart grow fonder."

Cana had the girls in stitches as she recounted how she and Bacchus almost got caught with their pants down by the police. Lucy couldn't stop laughing, grateful that Gildarts hadn't been around. She could only imagine how protective he would have been if he'd found out his daughter was almost caught in the act.

Later, when everyone had fallen asleep, Lucy slipped outside for some fresh air. The cool breeze tugged at her hair, and the soft sand shifted beneath her bare feet as she wandered toward the shoreline. The gentle sound of the waves lapping against the shore and the distant twitter of stray pelicans created a peaceful rhythm that calmed her racing thoughts. The moon hung low, casting a silver glow across the water, and the stars above twinkled like they were singing a soft, timeless lullaby.

She sat down on the cool sand, feeling the grainy texture beneath her as she pulled out her phone. Her fingers hovered over the screen for a moment before dialing the number she knew by heart. The line buzzed, and soon enough, the one person she missed most filled her screen.

"Hey, Luce." Natsu's voice, even through the pixelated, dimly lit screen, sent warmth rushing through her. His face, illuminated by the glow of his phone, was the only thing visible in the darkened room he was in.

"Hey, baby. How are you?" Lucy asked, her voice soft as she nestled her chin on her knees, her body curling slightly to brace against the cool night air.

"I'm okay, exhausted. Wendy's friends are a bunch of energy balls. I could barely keep up with them," Natsu chuckled, the sound fuzzy through the weak signal, but it was enough to make Lucy smile. The woods where Wendy's camp was being held weren't known for having the best connection, but hearing his voice—even through the static—was comforting.

As Natsu began telling her stories about his day, Lucy let his voice wash over her. She could picture him, the goofy grin on his face, his hands gesturing as he recounted how he almost tripped while chasing the kids. She giggled softly, her fingers tracing lazy patterns in the sand as she listened, savoring every word.

"I miss you," Natsu said after a pause, his voice quieter now. His eyes stayed fixed on the blurry image of Lucy on his screen, and the distance between them felt heavier in that moment.

"I miss you too," she whispered, her heart tightening as she stared at the moonlit ocean in front of her. "We'll see each other soon."

"Yeah, we will," Natsu replied, but Lucy could hear the longing in his voice, the same longing that had been creeping into her chest for days now.

As she sat there, listening to the soft rustle of the waves and Natsu's voice, a memory surfaced—the warmth of his arms around her, his heartbeat steady beneath her ear as they lay in bed together, the way he would absently trace circles on her back when he thought she was asleep. It was these small moments she missed most, and she couldn't wait to have them again.
