Chapter 36: Necron

Necron was born 1200 years ago to a union of the future White Akujin Avian Queen Dove and the previous Black Akujin King, Onyx. Onyx was seen as a more viable partner to her husband, the White Avian Akujin King at the time, Porcelain who neglected her at best and abused her at worst. Onyx was a reserved and stoic individual, but otherwise honorable. Necron was born of this union, and her child from her previous union with Porcelain, Alba, vehemently disliked Necron from the moment he was born.

200 years later, the King of the Center Akujin, Nefarious, was defeated by the Teigu users, Onyx and Porcelian lost their lives to the Teigu users, forcing them to leave the continent to head to the Western nation of Berli, forced to live alongside Humans and the West Akujin.

Necron used to be a gray fluffy bird chick humanoid who was constantly bullied by his feathered dinosaur humanoid brother, Alba. Necron was once cutesy, innocent, and gullible. Other Black Akujin would ignore him and White Akujin would use Necron as a punching bag.

One day, he was assigned a mission to go alongside a Mole Akujin called Moldwarp. Both were seen as the weak links of the Akujin and this commonality was something they could relate to. On the journey, they looked at the night sky patches that exposed themselves to the toxic clouds born of unrefined Orichalcum mining. Necron felt a strange kinship with Moldwarp, as they both had to deal with the prejudices of their respective societies.

They managed to reach their target- a thug who was kidnapping Akujin babies to sell on the Black market. Moldwarp would use his tunneling techniques to bury the thug half-deep into the ground with Necron giving the final blow. However, reality is rarely that nice, as the thug had a Majin-butsu, Bobbi-Bobbi, and a boomerang that always hones in on a target. Moldwarp was fatally wounded as the weapon phased into the ground and killed him. Necron was cornered and helpless.

He then came to a revelation- Weakness is unforgivable. Power allows everything. With that Necron's resolve hardened as he activated for the first time the abilities inherited from his father. The ability to control dark matter- becoming intangible to attacks, bending gravity by extension space-time to his will and solidifying it into two vulture-headed tendrils that cause the target to age at a rapid rate, manipulate solar energy, disintegrate targets, release microwave emissions to melt/overheat targets, have telekinesis, and manipulate nuclear energy via quarks.

The thug, surprised by Necron's sudden transformation, stumbled backward, dropping his weapon. Necron's eyes burned with a cold, calculated rage, the cutesy demeanor of his youth replaced by a fierce resolve. He hovered in the air, the gravity around him distorting as his dark matter wings unfurled. The open road grew colder, a chilling aura emanating from his very core. The thug's eyes widened in terror as he realized the true power that lay before him.

The thug was then telekinetically compressed by the use of the vulture-headed tendrils touching him, forcing the brute to collapse in on himself with a singularity now at the center of his core. Necron would bring back Moldwarp and give him a proper burial.

The Center Great One of the Akujin, Nefarious, was sympathetic to Necron's plight and allowed him to train under an ancient Great Grey Owl Akuij with tiny black spectacles and black bio-mechanical armor. Bubo the current Black Avian Akujin King and Onyx's predecessor/mentor. Feeling guilty over not preventing Onyx's death at the hands of the Teigu users, he felt like he should atone by training his son.

Over time, Necron drastically changed from a small, helpless creature with an innocuous personality to a blackish gray 7'3 humanoid wearing sleek, streamlined black armor over his muscular body. His armor included: a black, transparent visor shaped like a beak that covered the top part of his head; two circular ebony shoulder guards of large size with the words Nemo dat quod non-habet etched in blood red, had beaked demonic faces on his respective elbows/kneecaps/wrists, a smooth breastplate armor with two vicious red eyes etched in the center, a raised diagonal grid shaped stomach armor, a skeletal pelvis shaped armor around his waist, upward pointed spikes on the sides of his arms/legs, two pitch black arched wings emerging from the shoulder blades on his back and a purple line that went down to the chin and to both sides of the head. His yellow sclera eyes with red irises stared from behind the visor.

However, his power would prove to be too immense so he personally wore armor over it- causing his appearance to be A 6'7 winged male with jet black, biomechanical armor had horrific faces of demons, skulls, dragons, and other monstrous creatures engraved on random parts of his armored body, which was fitted over his extremely muscular physique. His hands had five claws with five-toed talons on his feet; his wings were less like bird wings, being more like shadowy matter shaped like wings and his head was covered by a vulture-shaped helmet, which had black sunglasses over his eyes.

Necron's personality was now very different-

Necron normally has a calm, relaxed attitude, hardly ever showing any signs of emotion, but emotes immensely when he is either very happy, usually during an exciting fight, shocked by an underhanded order from his superiors/horrendous action by his peers, or very angry, against warriors who falsely boast of their superior strength only to balk in fear/prove to be weaklings and dishonorable people who use repulsive trickery to win. He usually looks down on all the humans he comes across, but he will come to respect them should they have the following two requirements: firstly that the fighters take combat seriously, and secondly that they are strong fighters. Because his way of life is centered around fighting, Necron tends to ignore non-combatants, unless harming them will bring out the hidden strength of an adversary that views those non-combatants as close comrades/family/lovers. He has a high opinion of himself, as he regularly deems certain individuals "worthy" or "unworthy" of fighting him.

He mostly speaks plainly and firmly to others and is never afraid to speak his mind, giving the impression he's a callous and brutal enforcer. However, underneath this composed exterior lies a man with a powerful, self-applying, dependable code of personal honor and general morals that separate him from most Akujin. He does not take the lives of anyone unless the job demands it- even then, he restricts himself from killing children and defenseless women and usually ends up apologizing for his actions to them afterward. He is also very loyal to his superiors, as long as they aren't too detrimental to the Akujin race, especially those guilty of treason against the wishes of Nefarious. But while in the presence of individuals who behave dishonorably, cheat, mock others, or otherwise do not follow the rules, he displays a ruthless and highly brutal behavioral pattern of violently attacking them without warning. However, if there is a worthy enough opponent, he will provoke conflict between them and even be willing to brutally torture a man's loved ones, if that said opponent is a decent man to raise his strength to his level based in hopes that the tragedy they would escalate their power. He is also a decent strategist, careful, and will take precautions if a threat is too dangerous.

He genuinely believes that through the Akujin rule, natural order can be reestablished and the corruption of humanity can be quenched out. He is a genuinely fair and protective leader to his subordinates, especially compared to his cruel and apathetic brother who treats his subordinates at best with lies meant to keep them under his thumb and is physically/psychologically/emotionally abusive to them at worst. As such, he doesn't approve of senseless torture and brutality that doesn't serve a greater purpose- therefore he'll justify it if sending a message of intimidation will lead to a benefit to the Akuiji or bringing out an enemy's powers to get a worthy fight. He does not condone those who beat, kill and rape women- even if they are his superiors, being held back by his own lack of powers and by the laws of Akujin to not do so. He also despises cowards who sell out their comrades to save their own skin, making a duty to punish them. Negrot believes in constant training and diligence compared to his brother's laziness on orthodox methods and schemes at power through elaborate plans. Reluctantly, he lets Alba do what he pleases as the latter is the stronger of the two except for the one time that he managed to keep his future mate away from Alba's clutches before the latter would rape her. This hints that Necron doesn't see his own self-worth and is secretly looking for enemies in hopes that they kill him and not have to suffer under Alba's shadow.

For these reasons, outside of his mother, Dove whom he has a complicated relationship with, he despises the White Akujin Kings for their underhanded nature, especially after their implied hand in making Nefarious' wives disappear, causing Nefarious to go into despair, Solar-Flor the White Plant King enforcing obedience to the humans of Berli and becoming the ruler of the Akujin in all but name.

By extension, he doesn't like the White Akujin heirs, especially Alba for being equally unpleasant, but he hates himself for Solar-Flor's roots being implanted in all Akujin outside of Solar-Flor himself to restrict them at any time, controlling their actions and undermining their sense of honor. While he will protect the women and youths out of obligation, he doesn't necessarily like it. He managed to finally surpass Alba for a significant amount of time, but then recently, Alba's form/power completely changed for unknown reasons, the power-gap was then re-established.

The Black Akujin heirs and by extension, the Black Faction treat him with far more respect, often helping him with boosting his defenses. While he doesn't attack women, he's forced to admit most of the heirs who are girls are stronger than him, and he takes their harsh training to increase his endurance/resistance to negative effects with stride. He respects Monstrosity most of all. Whala the Black Sea-Life has a heavily implied curse on him.

He vehemently dislikes working with the human elites of Berli, disliking how they ruin the ecosystem by their selfish need to have Orichalcum for their wealth, not bothering to refine it first, which led to the outskirts of the land being polluted. Despite this, he treats the humans who starve to near-corpses in the lower class and the middle-class suffering under the elite- with indifference because Humans are all evil in his eyes, it's that the elites are just eviler in comparison.

Over centuries, Necron would fight worthy enemies and gather 10 commanders who follow him loyally due to his dedication to the ways of the Akujin and integrity.

Necron Mission 60,000

This is one of the many missions that Necron has undertaken.

He was to escort one of the Kaiser's distant relatives, a nice girl of noble lineage from assassins. Her name was Rey, a cousin of Regina, unlike the latter, was a pacifist who didn't train in fighting. While Necron personally disliked humans, his code of honor couldn't turn a blind eye to allowing a woman to die.

As Necron flew overhead, scrying the area for potential assailants, he managed to locate some suspicious figures hiding in the bushes, ready to attack her.

"Attacking a woman from the dark and from the dark, in general, is why I hate assassins," Necron cursed as he flew down and punched some of the assassins from the side, killing them in one strike. However, one of the assassins managed to dodge and land a blow on him. Necron was impressed since most humans would go down in one strike.

"I felt that one. Good. Good. Amusing. It's worth going on missions for an occasional fight like this once in a while.," he remarked as he continued to parry the strikes, but he then punched the bulky assailant away.

"You lack battle experience despite your power. Hence why you lost. I need to adjust some of my movements. I'll end things here. But know that you're my prey-," Necron said to the assassin.

Suddenly the assassin was shot from behind by an Ira blast from above. Necron looked up to see it had been fired by his brother, Alba who is an above-average-sized winged knight with vaguely avian motifs. His small helmet had a purple ponytail and two purple ris eyes peered from behind the eyeholes of the featureless face cover. His feet had three talons while his hands were platinum fingerless gloves with mechanical-like fingers. Two metallic wings grew on his back with the wings made of purple energy.

Cruel, insane, sadistic, selfish, yet sharp-witted and cunning, Alba delights in the suffering of others, both physically and mentally, and relishes pure chaos. He happily provokes and manipulates others for his own amusement, and ruthlessly tortures anyone who irritates him or gets in his way.

"Your bloodlust is hindering your mission sense.," Alba explained before he fired at Rey's carriage much to Necron's confused horror. He grabbed the collar of Alba, demanding "What is this treachery?!"

"Simple. Rey was someone who would've caused unnecessary problems if she was allowed to live. The mission was always to isolate her to kill her off.," Alba explained.

Necron's grip tightened on Alba's collar, his rage burning like the sun he could manipulate. "You lying sack of feathers! Why wasn't I informed of this?!"

"Because Solar-Flor, that weed knew you'd do it. You're too nice to let a girl go alone unprotected.," Alba replied. His eyes gleamed with a twisted amusement at Necron's outrage.

Necron rushed to the sight of Rey's carriage and picked up the body...the hair, however, was brownish-red instead of brown. Rey had a double planted by Quasimodo, the hunchback Prime Minister of Berli.

"Tch. We should've seen that coming. Now she's going to raise a rebellion to her cause.," Alba remarked.

"We live for millennia why should we worry about the actions of the changing times? Solar-Flor for all his talk is very Human.," Necron cursed.

"He'll kill for saying that.," Alba remarked as he crossed his arms.

"He's going to have everyone killed eventually once he's got another attack force. It's only when it'll happen. The only way is to find the heirs.," Necron remarked.

Alba, knowing that Solar-Flor would kill Alba himself eventually, sparked an idea. He then told his half-sibling, "I don't like your knightly act, but I have information. The Queens of His Eminence are still alive."

"What?," asked Necron, surprised.

"It's something Solar-Flor wants under wraps to maintain his control. The Humans did ultimately but he pushed them to it. The Queen have been imprisoned for 500 years underneath the Center Continent with their unborn children- all Six are alive. The Queens respectively have twins.," Alba explained.

"What's your angle?," asked Necron.

Alba sighed as he replied, "I didn't like how saccharine they were making the Akujin, but he's so negligent, that the Queens are much better leaders than the weed in hindsight. And the rate things are going, all of the planet is going to die at this mutt's hedonism and pedophilic perversions."

Solar-Flor despite his habit of being casually intellectual with apathy and small talk meant to unnerve others, was infamous for his shotacon tendencies.

Necron's mind raced with the implications of Alba's revelation. If the queens were indeed alive, and had twins, it would mean that there were four potential heirs to the Akujin throne. This could shift the balance of power within the kingdom and perhaps offer a chance to restore the natural order he believed in.

"Thank you.," Necron said as Alba brushed it off.

The two then flew away to the caves of Berli.

A little while later

the caves of Berli, a hologram of a brown-haired man with dazed, half-lidded eyes wearing regal robes too loose for his person and a woman with a black bobcut hair-style wearing a pink mink over a Chinese style dress appeared before Necron. They were the Kaiser and Kaiserin respectively of the humans of Berli.

"How could you not see that it was fake? Did you and Quasimodo work together on this? Solar Flor's gonna have you pay for this.," the Kaiserin scolded Necron.

Necron remained stoic, his mind racing with the information Alba had given him. "My apologies, Kaiserin. It's likely she's under the protection of Guy."

She winced at the mention of the hero of the rebels, a thorn in her side for the last 20 years. "I suppose that's possible," she conceded. "But we can't just let her fester in the underbelly of our city, spreading dissent and encouraging rebellion."

Necron bowed respectively, not wanting to deal with another word as the Kaiser consoled the Kaiserin as the holograms disappeared.

He then saw his mother appear in his direct vicinity. Dove the White Avian Akujin Queen is a blond woman of above-average height with white feathery angelic wings growing on her back, she wore a white dress that was segmented and had golden iris eyes. Her hair was back-length and she had talons for feet.

"Mother," Necron addressed her, bowing slightly.

Dove is mature, composed, logical, sophisticated, and intelligent. She is also relatively level-headed in terms of how to fight, stating that if one excuse for a battle is to fight out of hatred, prejudice, or simple competition, as the Black Faction does, then it is merely instinctual and animalistic, and that it makes the challenger look "childish," "unworthy," and "not much of a warrior". Though Dove believes it's 'acceptable' when it involves vengeance, she does not view even that as a reason to fight. Unlike many of the Akujin- even in the White Faction, Dove is somewhat pacifistic has despises engaging in combat, unless it involves self-defense and protecting those dear to her heart. She refuses to finish off weaker or injured opponents and will stop fighting them once they've been disabled or incapacitated. Dove is relatively calm and silent when fighting, preferring to speak only when spoken to, a rather uncommon trait among most Akujin. She enjoys reading and often reads a book, something she has in common with Rose, the White Plant Heir's mother. Dove is a loyal, respectful, and trustworthy warrior, who will diligently follow the orders of her commander, provided said commander has proven his worth. She's also knowledgeable, analytical, easygoing, fairly compassionate (usually towards her friends), humorous in her own right, and exhibits a cheerful, energetic demeanor when off-duty.

Her eyes fell upon Necron, a mix of worry and disappointment swirling within them. "Necron, you must be careful with the information Alba has given you. His intentions are never pure."

She was aware that Alba inherited Porcelain's haughty and cruel personality, something she despised and was the reason she preferred Onyx's honesty and nobility, even if they disagreed on the view of combat.

Necron nodded solemnly, "I understand, mother. But if there is any truth to his words, then the fate of our people could be at stake. I will handle this with caution."

As he began to walk away, Dove said "Akujin used to be Danger Beasts who attack anything with hostility and instinct And then in becoming Akuij, we regained our capacity for reason. One who possesses reason should require a reason to fight."

"Fighting in itself is reason enough. No need to involve human excuses like politics, religious dogma, or altruism.," Necron argued.

Dove's gaze grew stern, "But it is our duty to ensure the survival of our kind, not to indulge in meaningless battles. Remember, your father believed in honor and valor. Do not let the shadows of his death consume you."

"Death completes an individual. Dying in a bed, withering away one's wits and being feeble is unbecoming of a Black Akujin. It's better to die in battle against a worthy foe fairly. I have nothing but praise for his death, but it's my obligation to fight the Teigu that killed him no matter the user to prove that I am worthy of his name.," Necron replied.

"But you have my blood too.," she remarked.

"We never come to an agreement. Neither I or Alba see things the way you see them.," Necron answered.

Dove's expression softened, "I know. But I hope that you will find your own path, one that is not marred by anger and vengeance."

"You never get it. Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.," Necron replied as he flew away. Dove gritted her teeth, acknowledging he was right about not understanding his mindset.

Necron flew for a bit and landed as he then approached his 13 other colleagues, cloaked in darkness.

"You're going to fight the Grand Chariot user?," asked the apparent leader, larger than the rest.

Necron nodded.

"It's an obligation to my heritage.," he explained.

"Good. As much as we like fighting, this mission if it's true, is one we have to prioritize the safety of the heirs and potentially the lost mind of Our Eminence.," said another with one red iris and one blue iris in their respective eyes.

"I'll serve as a distraction.," Necron requested as they nodded.

"Don't get too reckless.," said another one, one of the most softer voices.

Necron nodded as the 14 proceeded to warp away.

Next Chapter: Whala

Author Notes: While it is strange that I went directly to Necron only to go back to Whala, who's Necron's inferior, Necron gives us more of what the Black Akujin heirs are like generally more than Whala who's an outlier to the general mindset. Necron is the opposite of his half brother and this chapter shows it in full.

His relationship with his family is complicated as they belong to the opposite faction whose mindsets are alien to him fundamentally. Which is tragic on its own.

Whala's background is going to be more straightforward in comparison.
