SlovIce: Haunting

Emil closed the door, before making his way towards the couch. He felt angry and sad. He didn't know what to do.

He glanced towards the paper in his hands, before he crumpled it into a ball. He threw it away from him as he broke down crying.

He had just returned from his boyfriend's funeral.

Samuel was Emil's only reason to smile. And now… Now he was gone. And Emil would never be able to see him again.

"You always used to joke that if you died, you'd come back to haunt me," Emil said. "Well, where are you? Why… why did you have to die?"

Emil continued to sob for quite a while, and eventually he stopped. He was so tired.

Wiping away the last tears, he glanced at the coffee table and froze. Laying atop it was a paper, actually more of a booklet, that had Samuel's photo. It was the paper from the funeral. The one that Emil had balled up and thrown away. He hesitantly picked it up, and it looked as though it had been crumpled up, but someone had tried to smooth it out again.

Emil shivered, before looking around. It… It couldn't be.

The prompt is: 'Imagine person A of your OTP died/ has been dead for a while and person B is remembering when person A used to joke that when they die they are going to haunt B.'

Short chapter, because even proofreading at this point is draining. Last night I sprained my ankle really badly, and am constantly under the influence of painkillers. So I'll mostly be in bed today. Hopefully it feels better by Monday, because I have to walk to work, and it takes between 10 and 15 minutes each time. And considering that even going to the kitchen or bathroom has become a chore… Oh boy.
