My house was full with the entire pack and the Elders, their massive frames filling the living room. Sue came rushing out of the door and engulfed Leah and Seth in a tight hug. "I thought you left me." She said in between sobs. I looked down in shame, Sue just lost her husband, and I almost took her kids too.

Sam pushed my dad's wheelchair out, and the rest of the pack followed suit. He took a sniff of the air and wrinkled his nose. "What did you do? You smell like bloodsuckers."

I guess there was no reason to lie or hide what I did. "I went to the Cullens."

"What for?"

"I told them to leave and never come back." There was a beat of silence as everyone processed what I said.

"You have no right to make them leave. The treaty says-"

"She is the oldest of Ephraim's heirs, she has every right." Leah interrupted Old Quil, defending me.

"That is right. Are you questioning her lineage?" My dad gave Old Quil a death glare. He sneered and flicked his eyes at me. "Of course not, Billy. But she's a girl!"

A tremor ran down my spine. I wanted to strangle him then, and would've done so if his grandson hadn't held me. "He's not worth it, Rach, he's just an ignorant old man." Quil said.

"Her gender doesn't matter, Old Quil, she became Ephraim's rightful heir from the moment she phased." My dad smiled at me. I was surprised at how proud he looked, I thought he would prefer Jacob to claim the position as Ephraim's heir.

"Going to their land as a new wolf is foolish, you could've phased on their land and they will not hesitate to kill you. And you shouldn't have done anything before discussing it with us. They have proven to be useful allies, and we are not going to break the treaty, let them make the breach." Sam glared at me.

"I wouldn't be here if I can't control myself. And I didn't break the treaty, I merely told them to leave. It's them whose going to break the treaty by changing Bella. Unlike you, I couldn't let them do it without some sort of repercussions. In fact, you should be thankful. I did what should've been done a long time ago. We can stop phasing, and our life will return to normal."

"It's unnecessary. They were going to leave without you interfering."

"Yeah but what if they come back 70 or 80 years from now? Do you want them to ruin your grandchildren's life just like they ruined ours? Believe me, it's for the good of our people."

"Ruin? I think it's cool." Seth said with a small voice and Leah smacked the back of his head.

Someone laughed condescendingly. I didn't take my eyes off Sam - in case he did anything - but I didn't have to see to know who it was. It was Paul, the first voice I "heard" when I phased. The one who struggles the most controlling his emotions, and local playboy who whored it with almost every girl in La Push and Forks. "Don't pretend you're doing this for the good of our people. You are only doing this for your own selfish reasons. Your life was perfect before becoming a werewolf."

"But you don't know what it's like for someone like me. The bloodsuckers might have ruined your life, but to me, their presence is a blessing. For the first time in my life, I finally have a family and a purpose." He took a stance beside Sam and I finally looked at him.

"You probably love being a wolf-whore, but I didn't go to college just to be stuck here." I expected a hot comeback but instead he gaped like a fish when his blazing eyes met mine. His expression softened and he stared, unblinking, with a dumbstruck expression. There was a collective groan in the crowd, some laughed, some rolled their eyes. From the corner of my eye I saw Embry giving Jared a 5 dollar bill. But my dad cursed, and he never cursed in front of me unless something terribly bad happened.

"What?" I asked no one in particular.

Leah, being my loyal friend, said, "That jerk just imprinted on you, Rach."

Now that Leah mentioned it I recognized the look on his face. It was the look Sam, Jared, and Quil give their imprints; total love, adoration, and devotion. My fist connected with his jaw and it broke with a satisfying crack. He staggered a few feet backward. Sam and Quil restrained me before I hit him again.

"You imprinted on me?! Take it back, Lahote!"

He reset his jaw. "You think I want to imprint?! Let alone on a selfish bitch like you?!"

He spat on the ground and charged at me. Embry and Jared restrained him, Sam ordered him to go and he ran to the woods.

"If you're gonna phase, don't do it here." Sam hissed in my ear and gestured at my father who had been pushed back by my cousin Collin.

I calmed myself down and Sam let go of me to check on Paul. Leah grabbed my hand and examined it. "If it heals wrong it has to be broken again." I didn't even realize it was broken until she applied pressure to my knuckles.

"I think it's fine." I said as I clenched and unclenched my fist.

"Come on, you must be hungry. The first transformation is the worst."

"I'm sorry for my mindless act. Sam was right, I should have discussed it with you all first." I said once we were done eating.

"I think we would have agreed anyway. Sure, being a werewolf is great, but Kim wants me to stop as soon as possible, and I don't think she wants our grandkids to phase if the bloodsuckers move back here." Jared answered with a thoughtful expression.

"You're thinking about having kids already? Disgusting." One of the young ones asked.

"Shut up, pup."

"I'm not a puppy!" The boy started to shake violently.

"Brady, go! Don't phase in my house!" My dad's booming voice filled the house. He shook his head as Brady ran past him. "What's done is done. Now we need to do damage control. Show a united front. Tell us, honey, did they agree to the terms you mentioned?"

"Yes. They'll leave after the wedding."

"Then it's settled. They'll leave in a couple days and our life will return to normal."

I was so fucking thankful for my father.

Once everyone left, Leah beckoned me to follow her to the bathroom. She untangled my hair carefully and cleaned it of leaves and debris. I cried when she cut it. "I'm sorry but it must be done."

"I know, it's just, my mom loved to braid my hair."

"I know, I missed her too." Leah hugged me from behind and kissed the side of my head. She suddenly grinned at our reflection.

"Hey, remember when we were little and wished that you, Becca and I were triplets? Now we finally look alike."

I smiled at the memory. Our parents sometimes coordinated our clothes so we would match. "Yeah, and now we are truly sisters." I said. "Do you think Becca will phase if she meets a vampire?"

"Maybe. But they tend to avoid sunny places, I think she's safe in Hawaii."

"I fucking do hope so."

She left me alone as I took a hot shower. I shaved and cleaned the dirt that was accumulated under my nails. I stared at my reflection in the full mirror. I was at least 5 inches taller, my boobs and hips were accentuated. Gone was my double chin, and the extra fat in my stomach and limbs was replaced by lean muscles. My skin was smooth and flawless, there were no pimples nor blackheads. My teeth were perfectly straight, the small holes that were caused by cavities were gone. In short, I looked drop dead gorgeous. But it meant nothing to me now, I would never live a normal life.

I laid on Jake's bed, my mind went a mile a minute. How could someone imprint on me? It was a waste, I can't have kids and I didn't need his protection, I was just as invincible as he was. He could've imprinted on someone who actually needed it, like an abused kid or a single mom with three kids.

I hope my dad knows how to break the imprint bond, there must be something about it in the legends. It will save me a lot of headaches.

...but what if it can't be broken? What happen if I turn him down? Would he run away like Taha Aki when his Third Wife was dead, or would he hurt me, even accidently like Sam? I didn't know Paul other than the fact that he was still in high school, and was the most volatile in the pack, but it didn't mean I didn't care about him. Of course I wanted him to be happy, but why does it have to be me?
