Happy shook his head at Jax picking up a girl at the gas station; even if he had no problem taking the before and after pictures of her dickhead boyfriend. He wasn't keen on this trip to Indian Hills, he wished Jax would have picked Bobby instead of me. The only thing that made it slightly better was that Helena had been on the lot that morning getting an oil change. Tara also had pull on the lot, giving him a slight glare as he was giving Noella their 'kiss-kiss'. He was glad most of Henry and Noella's activities were done and he wasn't missing anything.
Pulling up to Indian Hills, he hoped tonight would go smooth. Jax was telling Suzie to stick by him, making him chuckle. He wouldn't bring Helena to a clubhouse that doubled at as a brothel.
"You ready brother?" He asked making Jax turn his head.
"Always."
Happy followed Jax inside.
"Uncle Jury!"
"Jackson Teller!" The older man greeted Jax with a cheek kiss and hug. JT and Jury had served in Vietnam together.
"MC royalty in the house folks, Jax Teller and Happy Lowman," Jury introduced. Jax gave a wave while Happy just nodded.
A few girls came out in greeting as Jury led them to the bar. Happy fixed a scowl on his face. He didn't want to send off any vibes he was interested. It didn't work.
"We have them all shapes and sizes, it's on the house," Jury said. Happy deepened his scowl.
"I got an old lady, not interested," he growled finally getting the girls to back off.
"I'll be damned," Jury murmured, looking surprised.
"His wife is pretty cool, damn cute kids too," Jax added. Happy tossed him his scowl.
"Settle down killer, it's a compliment." Happy took his beer, tapping it with Jax's and finding a place to sit.
"Um…can I sit by you?" Suzie's nerves were plan in her voice.
"Sure," Happy knew the girl was out of her depth in this place. The brunette who had been talking to her had made it worse.
"You have a wife and kids?" She asked. Happy nodded.
"How old?" Happy looked at her. She seemed like a nice girl that just had a bad taste in men.
"My twins are five, a boy and a girl," he said.
"You don't bring your wife with you?" Happy forced his annoyance down.
"No."
"Does she ever go to a clubhouse?" Happy growled, his patience out.
"Mine. Go back with that other sweet butt," he walked out to the parking lot feeling his phone vibrate.
"Yeah carina?" He was slightly worried. Normally Helena would wait for him to call her on a run.
"Hey babe, I know you're busy but Noella has an ear infection. I don't know how I missed her symptoms but she wants to talk to her daddy. Can you do that right now?"
Happy gripped his phone hard. This was the first time one of his kids was sick beyond some summer allergies. All he wanted to do was go to his baby girl and make it better.
"Put her on." He heard some rummaging before his daughter's voice came on the line.
"I don't feel good daddy. My ear hurts and I'm all hot," Noella whined. Happy took a deep breath.
"I'm sorry mi princesa, I wish I could make it all better," Happy said.
"When you coming home daddy?" Noella sounded like she was starting to cry. Damn it did he want to be home.
"Tomorrow baby, then I'll cuddle you and we can watch Beauty and the Beast ok? I love you," Happy comforted.
"Promise?"
"Promise Noella, give the phone back to mama," Happy heard someone coming up behind him.
"Thanks mon amour. And don't you dare feel guilty, kids get sick," Helena firmly said.
"Still don't like it, I gotta go," Happy replied seeing Jax take out a joint.
"Ok, call me when you are leaving," Helena said hanging up.
Happy took the joint from Jax, needing it to calm back down. They discussed the conversation with Jury; Happy agreeing with Jax on a patch over. But he wasn't an officer, he was fine with his position in the club. Jax gave him a sympathetic pat on the shoulder when he heard Noella was sick. If they weren't patching over the Tribe Jax probably would have sent him home.
Happy knew church would end in the vote to become part of the Sons of Anarchy. He rolled his eyes when some brother from the Reno charter called out, "Patch over party!" It got loud and crazy quickly from there. It would be in bad form to go to bed right away so he grabbed a shot of tequila and a beer. Sitting so he could just watch the debauchery, Happy fixed his scowl back on his face. He sneered when a woman sat by him.
"Not interested sweet butt," he snarled. She didn't move.
"Neither am I. I'm exhausted but have to be out here. If I sit with you, maybe chat a little, then I can sneak off to bed."
Happy gave her a once over. She was classically pretty with red hair and brown eyes; on the plump side but it worked for her. He could chat for a bit then sneak off to bed as well.
"Fine," he conceded. The woman smiled.
"I see a ring, tell me about your wife."
Happy told her about Helena, and the kids. He bitched about not being there for his little girl, even threw in some Spanish cussing for good measure.
"I wish I had a man that adored me half as much as you do Helena. She's a lucky woman." The redhead said.
Happy shrugged to that. He was no relationship expert, and he was the lucky one. They stayed in amiable silence, watching Clay cut in on Half-Sack and the sweet butt he's been with all night.
"Leave ten minutes after me," Happy finally said. He needed sleep.
Happy was the first patch up in the morning. He took his time finding the gym area of the clubhouse. He made short work of his calistetics routine, even adding in burpees for cardio. After his shower, he had breakfast at the bar. He ignored the passed out bodies around him.
"Look at this mess!" Tig's voice came across the clubhouse. Happy watch him and Juice weave through the mess.
"No creo que te hayas perdido mucho hermano," Happy grunted (I don't think you missed much, brother)
"What? English Hap," Tig complained grabbing a whiskey bottle.
"He said you didn't miss much," Juice said sitting next to Happy.
"Says the man who gets pussy whenever he wants with a beautiful woman," Tig groused.
"Don't talk about my wife," Happy half-heartedly sniped. He knew Tig respected Helena, and he wouldn't do anything that jeopardized him seeing Noella and Henry.
The men waited until a phone call from Jax had them mobilizing. I just want to get the hell out of here Happy internally grumbled. He grabbed his guns and listened for the plan. A shoot out was not how he wanted to start his morning.
Thank God Jury has it in with the Sheriff Happy thought. And he wasn't injured; Helena would ream his ass if came home with bullet holes with Noella being sick. Once it calmed down he stepped away to call her. She simply told him to ride safe and his daughter was waiting for him.
When Happy pulled into his driveway, he finally felt calm. Rushing inside he scooped Helena up in a passionate kiss.
"I'm happy to see you too," she said when he finally released her. He trailed his hand to her stomach, a questioning look in his eyes.
"The prenatal and anti-nausea are working. I'm just tired but we need to talk later about telling the kids and Lupe. We are due for a visit. Now your daughter is in her room, go get her babe," Helena said pushing him down the hall.
Happy opened Noella's door to find her playing with her dolls on the bed. He smiled when she noticed him. She hopped of her bed, looking tired and pale, but still demanded to be picked up.
"Daddy! I missed you!" Happy kissed her nose.
"I missed you to princess. Go get mama to set up the movie, I'm gonna say hi to Henry."
Noella scurried off when he set her down. Moving to his son's room, he walked in seeing Henry building something with his legos.
"Whatcha building mijo?" Henry snapped his head to his father.
"Papa! I'm making a tower," Henry explained crashing against his legs. Happy absorbed the hug, ruffling his son's hair. Needs a haircut.
"Tomorrow, after work, I'll test that tower. You don't feel sick do you?" Henry shook his head.
"Ok papa, love you!" Henry went back to his building. When his son was focused on something, he stayed that way. Kinda like Happy when he was tattooing.
"Te amo, mijo."
Happy went out to the living room, seeing Helena had set up the couch with blankets. Happy got comfortable before pulling his daughter to him. Noella snuggled as close as she could, her head on Happy's chest. The movie was only half-way through when both father and daughter were fast asleep.
