Gremano: Catlike
"Leave me alone, you bastard!"
Greece glanced over towards Romano, who was yelling at Spain, who was being overly affectionate towards his former colony. If Greece didn't know that it was nothing more than platonic, he would have been very upset.
Greece lightly petted his cat, which started to purr. He knew how to deal with Romano. After all, Romano was very similar to a cat.
Romano didn't like it if you forced affection onto him. If he wanted company, he would come to you. And he would only stay for as long as he felt like it. He liked to puff himself up when he felt threatened, making him seem stronger than he truly was. He didn't like it if people wanted him to do something when he didn't feel like it. And if you rubbed him the wrong way, he would lash out.
Smirking lightly, Greece made his way over towards Romano, his cat still in his arms. Romano saw him coming and looked about ready to explode.
"Could you take care of him for a moment?" Greece asked, indicating the cat. "I need to go to the bathroom."
Romano deflated, and he nodded his head. The cat was handed over to Romano, who made sure that he had a firm, but gentle, grip on the cat.
Greece returned a while later, and as expected, Romano was sitting calmly, stroking the cat. Greece made his way over to Romano, who looked up at him with round eyes.
"Thank you," Greece said, sitting down next to Romano.
Romano snorted, before reluctantly handing the cat back. Greece snuck a glance at Romano, and was pleased to see that he had a faint dusting of red on his cheeks.
The thing about cats was that one needed to earn their trust. You needed to take things slowly. Hold out your hand and wait for them to come to you. You needed to get the cat to feel comfortable with you.
And in Romano's case, Greece needed to let him know that he trusted him with his cats. Everyone knew how much Greece loved cats, so being asked to look after one was a huge honour, which helped calm Romano down. Greece loved cats, and he loved Romano. But he would still take it slowly. He didn't want to scare the smaller male away.
Personality-wise, I can see Romano being catlike. Cats are definitely tsunderes. And even though I grew up around dogs, I know that if you want to befriend a cat, you have to let them come to you while letting them know that you're reaching out to them. While attending university, the apartment complex where I was living had a few cats. I would usually crouch down and extend my hand, waiting for them to approach me before I did anything. Soon enough, the cats would come to me and rub against my legs whenever they saw me. Surprised me a few times. There was even one that came to lie down on my lap as soon as I sat down. My friend also has a cat, and she was surprised by the fact that the cat allowed me to pet him when he lashed out at our other friends.
