Chapter 18
April2000
Summary:
Bobbie forgives Roy and tries to help him out of his situation with Sonny. Roy wants to come clean with Sonny. Hannah learns the truth about her father and forgives him. Roy briefly returns to prison after his failed attempt to bring Sonny down.
Rae Cummings arrives in PC. She has a history with Alan.
Sonny wants Carly to marry him. He's already made the arrangements. Carly thinks Sonny is crazy and refuses. Carly is hopeful she will be rid of AJ soon.
Lucky returns.
4/1-14/2000
Lucky readied himself for a few trips, a reunion with his parents, and a return to Port Charles. Lucky and Helena arrive at the Triple L. This is their last stop. He wants to leave for PC. She gave him $500 and said his parents would be there soon, and he could choose to stay or go, but her work was done, "I'll be in touch."
Luke and Laura reminisce and determine the place they've been the happiest might be where Lucky would go. They head to the Triple L Diner in Vancouver. When Luke and Laura arrive, they are apprehensive. They spot Lucky at the counter with his back to them. Luke says, "Cowboy," and he turns around. Luke and Laura grab hands and are thrilled they are looking at their son. Lucky looks confused.
Laura ran to hug her son, but he didn't respond. Lucky punched Luke in the mouth, then ran out. They gave chase but lost him and returned to question the waitress. They discovered that Helena brought him there and that Stefan had appeared on the scene but had not spoken to Lucky. The waitress said that Lucky had planned to keep moving. Lucky asked a trucker if he had room for a passenger, and the man agreed to give him a ride.
Laura and Luke try to predict where Lucky will be. Laura wonders why Lucky left a trail if he doesn't want to be found. They finally agree that if Lucky has escaped, he will try to see Elizabeth. Luke suggests he look for Lucky and Laura to go home in case Lucky goes to Port Charles.
Nikolas tells Elizabeth he has a lead on Lucky. Stefan was in British Columbia. He tells Elizabeth they can be there by nightfall if they hurry. Elizabeth says, "Luke and Laura are already out looking for Lucky. They are better equipped to track him than we are. I trust them. Lucky told me the story of his trek from Canada to Port Charles, and Kelly's was considered home base. If Lucky is in British Columbia, he may be headed home."
"Are you sure you don't want to look for him together? You aren't still mad at me, are you?
Elizabeth sighs, "No, Nikolas, that is not why I don't want to go. I believe that Luke and Laura know how to find Lucky. I also have commitments to Chloe for one of her designs; I have classes at PCU and don't want to leave Tammy short a server."
Lucky arrives in PC and stays in hiding.
Stefan finds Helena on her plane, and she says, "Luke and Laura will soon discover the depth of my revenge." Stefan said he owed her a debt and reminded her that he had repaid his debts. He stood and moved the curtain aside. Two cops entered, and Stefan handed his mother into custody, quietly adding that he had settled his overdue account. As she was taken away, Helena says, "Stefan, remember, I come back. I always come back. You will pay for your betrayal."
Rae's looking for a Family Bible left inside a desk Carly bought Sonny. Sonny explained he donated it to a thrift shop. He calls and arranges for the shop owner to meet her. Tony helps. Rae sees Alan, a former lover at GH. Rae asks Tony if they could keep her search for her daughter between them, and he agrees.
At Kelly's, Lucky watched through the window as Elizabeth cleaned up. She felt eyes on her but saw no one when she turned to look. Laura enters and tells her about the encounter with Lucky. Laura tried comforting her by saying she was still hopeful and that Luke was still looking. Nikolas arrived, and Elizabeth excitedly gave him the update on Lucky. Lucky watched from his hiding place and wondered if his brother and Elizabeth were together.
4/14-30/2000
AJ approached the swings while Michael and Carly were playing in the park. Johnny stops him, and AJ says, "Whoa, Carly, what's wrong? I wanted to say hi to my son."
Carly counts to ten, as Jason told her to do whenever she's about to do something foolish. "AJ, I'm sorry, Johnny was only being cautious. Johnny, it's okay. AJ is Michael's biological father. We share custody." Carly watches in fury as AJ pushes Michael on the swings. A few minutes later, she says, "AJ, Michael, and I are due home. I'll have Letecia drop Michael off when it's your day for custody." She quickly ushers her son and Johnny away from the park. She returns to the PH, and she hands Michael to Letecia. She calls for Sonny.
"Sonny, I saw AJ in the park. Can you send him down the river?"
Sonny started laughing at her, "Down the river? Where is the river, Carly? You've watched too many movies."
They laugh, and she asks, "Are you making fun of me?"
"Yeah, a little."
"Forget I asked. Sending AJ up the river would hurt Lila."
"I wouldn't dare dream of hurting Lila, but did AJ do something to you or Michael today?"
"Does breathing count?"
"No, and you got to get over yourself, Carly. Don't do this to AJ. You will regret it. While I regret hurting Jason, I think this baby is the best thing that ever happened to me. I wouldn't want that taken away from me. It doesn't matter how our baby was conceived; the only thing that matters is that we love it. AJ must feel the same way about Michael."
Lucy visited the Quartermaines to ask about the Nurse's Ball. She asked Chloe about three or four designs for the Nurses Ball, and Chloe agreed before leaving. Lucy left a message for Elizabeth to request another design for the NB t-shirt.
Stefan met with the doctor who had examined Lucky while Stefan briefly had him. When asked about the topic of mind control, he admitted that his experience was minimal but that Lucky didn't exhibit any of the classic signs. He suggested there were milder forms of mind control that were less detectable.
Lucky was walking on the dock when he heard someone call his name. Mike had spotted him and hurried to him, "Wow! It is you. Everyone is looking for you." Lucky pleads with Mike not to tell anyone. He doesn't want to be found. Lucky explains he only wants to see his sister and brother. Mike asks, "What about Elizabeth? She was destroyed when she thought you died."
"Too much has happened. We've both grown and changed in the last year. We can't go back and start from where we left off. If you tell anyone, I'll bolt again."
"I don't like it. Your parents are beside themselves. Laura deserves to know."
"You have no clue what my parents deserve."
"It's your life, kid. I won't say anything." Mike leaves and calls Luke. He knows enough not to keep a secret like that. Luke is out of town, and Mike leaves a message. He drives to the PH to see Sonny. Carly was on her way out the door to go shopping when Mike dropped by. She thanked him for his gift of the rocker. Mike tells his son about his encounter with Lucky.
Sonny says, "Shit, Mike. You lied to the kid."
"Michael, what would you have done? Wouldn't you want to know? Would you tell Luke?"
"Of course, I would. Laura said Luke is out of state searching for clues but should return soon. I'll have Laura come to the PH and tell her personally. Damm, it's true. He's alive!"
Lucky sits on the bench and takes out a picture of Liz. He strokes it gently and sighs.
Elizabeth sat on the docks, remembering Lucky and their first kiss. As she gathered her belongings and prepared to leave, she looked back and saw Lucky staring at her.
May 2000
Summary
Sonny breaks Roy from prison and offers him money to leave town. Roy refuses, and they discuss taking down the dirty FBI agent. Luke is pissed to learn Roy has been lying to him about being an FBI informant and the danger it could bring to his sister.
Helena claims she rescued Lucky from Faison, but no one believes her tale of savior. Lucky publicly backs Helena's story, but privately, he accuses her of keeping him captive. Lucky is distant from Elizabeth and treats his parents the way he did when he found out about his mother's rape. He wants nothing to do with them. Stefan is convinced Helena is using mind control on Lucky.
5/1-15/2000
Laura visits Sonny per his request, and he shares information from Mike that he saw Lucky.
Lucky runs from Elizabeth after seeing her, leaving her devastated. Nikolas comforts her, and Lucky witnesses the encounter. Lucky remains distant and confused. He mixes realities with his feelings for Elizabeth and acts like he wants nothing to do with her.
Elizabeth went to the boxcar. She wrote him a note telling him that she loved him and was waiting whenever he was ready to see her. Lucky found the note. He read it carefully, then looked confused.
Luke returned home, and Laura told him that she had seen Sonny and that Mike had seen Lucky. Lucky does not want to see them. Dejected, the two of them decided that the best thing to do was to wait for him, and he'd come when he was ready.
Lucky surprised Emily in her room. They hug. Lucky is receptive and playful to Emily. She brings up Elizabeth and asks why he treats Liz so distantly. Lucky confided in Emily about his kidnapping and how he felt being "caged" for this past year. Lucky said that everything is different for him now. Elizabeth is stronger and no longer needs him.
At L&B, Elizabeth hands Chloe her final design and says she'll still help with the phones, but she can't complete further designs. She needs to focus on Lucky, but she needs to thank her for the opportunity. Chloe mentions that Lucy wants Elizabeth to design the NB shirts again. Elizabeth accepts.
Emily bursts in, "I saw Lucky! He came to see me at the house; he was happy to see me, almost like he never left. But when I mentioned you, he looked confused and said his kidnapping had changed him. He said everything was different, and you no longer needed him."
Elizabeth sighs, "I never needed him. I want him, and I've loved him, but I've always been my own person. I thought Lucky knew that."
Nikolas visited Elizabeth at her studio. She told him about Lucky's visit to Emily. Nikolas was hurt that his brother didn't contact him, but he consoled Elizabeth and said that Lucky's distant behavior was probably Helena's fault. Lucky watched through the studio door window as Nikolas and Liz struggled to sort out Lucky's behavior. Elizabeth agrees that Lucky needs space and less pressure from loved ones. After Nikolas left, Lucky knocked at the door. She opens the door, "Lucky."
"Hi. Your dad told me where to find you."
Tentatively, she says, "Come in. How are you?"
Lucky looks around, "Good, I guess." He sees her paintings and touches a couple. He points out that her technique has more depth now and explains how he used to watch her work. Lucky comes across a batch of sketches of himself and is awed when she shows him the portrait she painted of him. "It's an accurate picture of who I used to be."
"Used to be?"
"Everybody changes - you, me, even the shortcut to the boxcar. I found your note."
"I'm glad you came. Nikolas was here, and Emily said she saw you. Maybe we can have a Four Musketeers outing. Nikolas misses his brother." Lucky looks away and quickly leaves after thanking her for showing him the sketches.
Laura dropped by the studio. Elizabeth told her about Lucky's strange and distant behavior. She admits she still loves Lucky but is troubled by his behavior.
"Elizabeth, please don't give up. Luke and I remember how much Lucky loved you. We think you could be the key to helping Lucky remember his past. He's still the person in the portrait you painted."
"I'm not so sure. I can't be the only person to make Lucky remember. What Lucky told Emily was true. Time has changed things. We both are different. He thinks I no longer need him. The odd thing is he thinks I used to need him. I was never that person. I love him, but my father taught me I'm self-reliant. I proved that last winter when I helped Jason recover and stood up to the town."
"Elizabeth, have you developed feelings for Jason?"
Elizabeth shakes her head, "I don't know. He's Steven's age, but Jason helped me through losing Lucky and showed me how strong I am. I've lived alone, survived danger and all without Lucky."
"I understand your conflict, Elizabeth, but Lucky needs you more than he's willing to admit."
"Thank you, Laura; please let LuLu know I'll visit her soon." Elizabeth shakes off the feeling that despite her feelings for Lucky, she's feeling pressure from others that it is her responsibility to "fix" whatever is wrong with Lucky. She falls asleep dreaming of her past with Lucky and that unexpected goodbye kiss from Jason.
In the morning, after Elizabeth left and started a shift at Kelly's, Lucky returned to the studio. He broke in and gazed thoughtfully at his portrait. He also found a painting, unlike all the others. He turned it over and saw the label "The Wind." He didn't know what that meant. He left and walked toward Helena's yacht.
Laura and Luke speculated about what had happened to their son. They agreed that his twisted version of history is Helena and Faison's doing, but whatever the cause, his anger is real and directed at them. They decided they had to figure out what had been done to him.
Lucky informed Helena he was leaving for good. He doesn't want to hurt Elizabeth because she is a good and kind person. As Helena tried to convince Lucky to rethink his position, Stefan entered. He confronted Lucky and Helena and tried to persuade him to denounce Helena and admit that she'd held him prisoner. Still, Lucky stuck to the story that she'd rescued him.
Carly arrives at the PH and instructs Francis to bring in the rest of her purchases. Sonny is bemused at all of the crap she bought. Francis says, "Boss, there's more downstairs in the car."
"Okay, thanks. Carly, why don't you dress up in one of those outfits you bought? I'm taking you to dinner at the Grille tonight." Carly dresses up to the 'Nines' and stands at the top of the stairs. Sonny surveys her outfit but blanches at her footwear. "Carly, please change into flat shoes. You should not wear those heels in your condition." Angrily, Carly kicks off her shoes, trips, screams, and tumbles down the stairs. Sonny screams, "Oh No! Johnny, call 911!" He rushes to Carly, slumped on the floor, bleeding.
Lucky and Liz were in the boxcar. They kissed, but he pulled away from her, saying they couldn't pick up where they'd left off a year ago. They reminisced about their past and about the guitar he had, but he became uncomfortable and rushed away. Later, Elizabeth sees Nikolas and tells him about kissing Lucky and his strange reactions. Nikolas reassured her that a love like theirs doesn't just disappear in a year. Nikolas left and waited for Lucky on the docks. He comes face to face with his brother.
Nikolas says he can't believe it is Lucky. He tells his brother that although he knew he was alive, he was thrilled to see him and couldn't stay away. Lucky gets up. Nikolas tells him it is okay if he hits him, just not in the face. Lucky embraces his brother and tells him it is great to see him.
Carly began to bleed heavily, and the paramedics rushed her to the hospital. Sonny joined the EMTs, and the ambulance crew left.
At the hospital, Sonny wanted to stay with Carly, who was still unconscious, but Tony sent him out of the emergency room. He watched through the glass until Tony came to talk to him and said it was touch and go for the baby, but Carly's blood wasn't clotting correctly, and her life was in danger, meaning that Sonny had to choose between Carly and the baby.
Elizabeth is at her studio when Emily pops in. Elizabeth is distracted, and she explains she saw Lucky again. She says they connected and even kissed. "Em, Lucky doesn't want me. He pushed me away after our kiss. He seems fine talking about the past and the boxcar, but if he hears anything about the future, he shuts down."
"After being held a prisoner for over a year, it's no surprise that Lucky's head is screwed up. It will get better; don't lose faith." Emily leaves. A frustrated Liz breaks down a cardboard box with a box cutter. She cuts herself. She arrives at GH with her hand wrapped in a dishtowel soaked with blood. She checks in and tells the nurse she thinks she needs stitches.
Tony tells Sonny that the damage to Carly is dire. She will die, and the baby cannot survive. Sonny gives his permission to operate on Carly. Sonny sits beside Carly and says goodbye to his son. Carly survives the surgery, and the surgeon updates Sonny. Elizabeth comes out with her hand bandaged and sees Sonny. She rushes over and asks Sonny what has happened. He tells her they lost the baby. She offers her genuine sadness. Sonny explains the chain of events to her. He tells her that Carly doesn't even know because she has been unconscious since the fall. He asks Elizabeth to hold him, and she does.
Jeff heard about Elizabeth being in the ER and rushed to check on her. He witnesses a moment between her and Sonny Corothinos. He asks Tony what happened. Jeff sees Sonny's shirt covered in blood. Tony tells him about Carly and her fall. Jeff waits until he hears his daughter convey her condolences to Carly. He stops Elizabeth and says, "Are you okay? How many stitches?" He turns her hand over to inspect the ER doctor's technique. "Ouch, did you get a script for pain meds?"
"Six stitches. Just Tylenol, and I'm restricted from handling trays at Kelly's for at least a week."
"Could you let your old man look after you for two days? How are things with Lucky?"
Elizabeth sighs, "Worse than my stitches. I'll take you up on your offer. My car is over at Kelly's. I can ask Emily to bring it to the house."
Lucky breaks into Liz's studio and calls out to her. She isn't there. He looks around, perplexed. He finds blood on the floor and becomes concerned.
Carly awakened and asked why she was in the hospital. Sonny responded by saying the baby was gone. Carly does not understand and demands to see her son. She yelled to Sonny to leave so that she could see her baby. Finally, Sonny had to say that their baby was dead. Carly cried and continued to repeat that it was unfair; they had a son and did not get to hold him. Tony checked on Carly, and she asked if her mother had been notified. Tony says he left a message for Bobbie. Carly was discharged and was despondent.
Helena and Nikolas bump into each other on the docks. "My darling Nikolas, it pained me to see you so torn up over your brother's death. It warms my heart that I could reunite you. You must watch out for Lucky, especially from your Uncle. Don't trust Stefan."
"I don't believe anything that comes from your mouth, but thanks for returning Lucky, just in case.
Stefan and Lucky also meet unexpectedly. He tells Lucky that he will protect and help him. Lucky says that Helena saved him. Stefan poses several questions to Lucky about why Helena would do such things without reason. He thinks he can help Lucky uncover the truth. Lucky tells Stefan that the truth is that he owes his life to Helena.
Elizabeth and Emily planned a dinner for the four friends. Elizabeth was hopeful it would trigger memories for Lucky. They waited for Lucky and Nikolas to arrive with the orders from Eli's. During the meal, Nikolas toasted his brother and friends. Elizabeth reminded them to save room for the brownies. Emily added they had to make a wish for the Four Musketeers. They all said, "Best friends forever."
Lucky places his half-eaten brownie on his plate and says, "This is all wrong. I can't be here."
Nikolas says, "What the fuck was that?"
Elizabeth shrugs, "I don't know, but he's been so distant; he needs to decide what he wants without our interference."
Emily asks, "How can you say that? Lucky has been there for you and helped you survive after your rape. He needs your support now."
"No, all of you were there for my rape. My dad, Sarah, Bobbie, Gail, and Robin were there for me. I owe all of you, not just Lucky. Don't guilt me, Emily. That is not fair."
Emily runs outside to find Lucky mumbling against a wall. She yells out, "Liz, he's here. He didn't leave."
Elizabeth walks out, and Laura appears. Lucky assumed Elizabeth staged the meeting. He mouthed off to his mother and turned to leave. Elizabeth says, "That's your excuse for everything. You just walk away instead of addressing what is wrong."
"I don't want anything to do with her" (Lucky points to his mother). Laura's eyes well up with tears.
"How can you be so cruel? Laura has done nothing to you that you haven't forgiven her for. She's grieved for you. We all have, and since you've been back, you've been acting like a dick. Maybe you are right. We've all changed. There's nothing left for us if you don't believe I'm being honest with you."
"I'm sorry for hurting you; I think it's why we shouldn't see each other at all."
"You should apologize to your mother." Lucky shakes his head and runs off. Elizabeth says, "Laura, the dinner didn't go as well as we hoped."
"Elizabeth, hang in there. Lucky will come around. He loves you." Laura says goodbye, and Elizabeth whispers, "At what cost to me?" Nikolas leaves to find Lucky, and Emily tries to reassure Elizabeth. "Em, I deserve better."
Lucky ran into Luke on the docks and accused his father of lying in ambush for him. Luke asserts that not everything is about Lucky, but Lucky gives his speech about plotting parents and lies and how he wishes they would leave him alone. Luke says, "Message received, but your mother doesn't deserve this vitriol."
Lucky started to reply when Nikolas arrived, so he complained to him instead, saying that Nikolas was someone he could trust. Luke suggested that Lucky was perhaps a bit paranoid and asked him again what had changed. "I finally wised up, Dad!"
"Cowboy, when you get some manners, come find your mother and me, Nikolas, and look after your brother. Watch your grandmother, the Dragon Lady."
Helena is on the docks when Lucky comes up. He wants to finish where they left off because Stefan interrupted them before. He tells her he will be leaving Port Charles soon. Helena asks about his sister and brother. Lucky says he can't continue to hurt Liz. Helena says, "I admire your concern, but why should you care if you care unless you still love her."
"I don't, but she's a good person."
"I can't allow you to leave. Our work is not finished."
"What are you going to do, lock me up again?"
Stefan overhears and says, "No, because she will be charged with kidnapping now that you have admitted it."
"You are wrong. Faison kidnapped me. Helena rescued me."
"Lucky, everything you say sounds rehearsed. My mother is not to be trusted." Lucky is exasperated and says he is out of there. "Mother, Lucky is your pawn and nothing more. Your control over him won't last."
June 2000
Summary:
Stefan gathers more evidence to confirm his suspicion that Lucky's mind has been altered. He congratulates Helena on her success in getting Lucky to do her bidding. Helena counters with, "Chess is an excellent game."
Helena has plans to kill her son. She makes arrangements to poison Stefan. He is wise to her schemes and turns the tables and arranges to have Luke be charged with his murder. Laura pleads
Lucky tells Elizabeth his feelings for her have changed, but he wants her to be happy with Nikolas. She says she's not interested in Nikolas that way.
Carly recovers from the loss of her and Sonny's baby. Sonny promises to keep his business away from her and Michael. He wants her to stay. Carly wants AJ out of their lives.
6/1-30/2000
Nikolas and Elizabeth took a walk at the pier. "I saw Lucky. He told me things were over between us and wants me to be happy with you."
"What? That's ridiculous. Nikolas smiles briefly but recovers. You must have misunderstood; Lucky is still the same person he was a year ago."
"No, he's not. I'm not pretending he is anymore. But I'm also not interested in starting something with you." Hiding in the bushes, Lucky eavesdrops.
"If Jason were still around, would your answer be the same?"
"What? What does Jason have to do with Lucky?"
"You said you told Lucky you weren't interested in me, but if Jason was available, would you turn to him like last year?"
"Oh my god, Nikolas. I was not with Jason last year. He stayed in my studio, nothing more. I was not interested in you last year because of him; I just wasn't interested. I thought we moved past this."
"We have, we did. I'm sorry to throw Jason in your face again. I don't understand your and Emily's loyalty to him."
"Nikolas, I'm not having this argument with you again. Lucky is acting different, and he needs his friends. That is what is important."
Emily went to visit Elizabeth and noticed that something was wrong. Elizabeth recapped the last few hours and asked Emily if she saw anything romantic between Nikolas and her. "No, I don't. We will get to the bottom of the bizarre behavior."
Lucky got a room at Jake's and doesn't want his parents to know. Lucky contacted Helena to let her know of his whereabouts. Lucky also called Emily, who came to visit him. She asks him why he treats Elizabeth like he doesn't love her. "I can tell that Nikolas is in love with Elizabeth, and my brother deserves to be happy. Did something happen with Elizabeth and Jason last year?"
"Not what you think, but it's a long story, and you should ask Elizabeth. Look me in the eye and tell me you no longer love her." Lucky couldn't. Instead, he insisted that he had changed over the last year and that things couldn't be the same. "Lucky, it sounds like you are trying to convince yourself more than to convince everyone else."
Laura and Lesley Lu visited Elizabeth at her studio. Laura asked her if she was spending time with Lucky. "Laura, he's acting like I don't exist. I'm beginning to think there's no hope for us, and I should do what he says and leave him alone."
"Elizabeth, honey, please don't give up on Lucky because you may be my last hope in reuniting with my son."
"Laura, that's a lot of unfair pressure."
"I'm sorry, you are right. Luke and I miss him. Lucky always listened to you, and you were the reason he gave us the benefit of the doubt before Faison took him.'
Lucky tells Elizabeth he gets mad when his parents tell him how to think, so he has no right to tell her how she should feel about Nikolas. "I know you have been through a lot this past year, and I still love you. What did I do to lose your trust and faith in me?"
"I trust you, but when I get close to you, an invisible force stops me."
"Is there a wall between us now?" She takes his hand, and Lucky leans in and kisses her. As they were kissing, a frantic Nikolas burst into Liz's studio.
He yelled that he was sick and tired of tip-toeing around Lucky. "My Uncle is missing and or dead, and no one seems to care. The Commissioner arrested your father."
"Isn't it possible that Helena is to blame?" Lucky runs off.
An upset Lucky ran into Helena at the docks and told her she should be the one getting investigated for this crime. "Lucky, always remember to protect your queen." Lucky stops talking and has a vacant look on his face. Nikolas hid in the shadows as he witnessed the whole scene.
Nikolas intervenes between Helena and Lucky, demanding that his grandmother leave his brother alone. After she left, Lucky asked if Nikolas thought Luke was innocent, and Nikolas said yes. He wasn't ready to reveal what he witnessed Helena doing to his brother. He warned Lucky that he should not be hanging around Helena.
Carly told AJ she would do anything to keep him away from Michael. AJ again asks what he's done to warrant such hatred. She added that AJ belongs at the bottom of a river. When Sonny returned, Carly told him she ran into AJ at the docks. She asked him to kill AJ. Sonny replied that the damage it would do to Michael was not worth it. He was not willing to kill AJ as it would hurt Michael. He also promised Jason that, so far, AJ has done nothing wrong. Carly says she'll invent something if she has to. Sonny does not want Michael to look at them and think of them as his father's murderers.
Sonny was ready for another Nurse's Ball. Carly pretends not to care but will go because it's important to Sonny. She says she must buy a new dress to wear. When she returns, she shows him the purse she had purchased to wear with the dress and tells him it will hold all of her stuff. After he goes upstairs, she murmurs it will be plenty big enough.
Sonny says they are going to the NB for Stone and Robin. Carly silently seethes at the mention of Robin's name.
The Nurses Ball 2000
Mac leaves to pick up Robin.
Carly puts one of Sonny's guns in her purse. Sonny tells her she looks gorgeous and asks if she still wants to go. She says she is looking forward to it. Sonny stops her before they leave, and he asks for his gun back. "Carly, do you want to go back to Ferncliff? Are you going to feign insanity? You hate AJ. He's not my favorite person, but Michael loves his daddy. You must get along for the kid's sake."
"Bastard."
Sonny laughs and escorts her to the elevator.
Robin arrives and goes backstage to say hello to Elizabeth. They hug, and Elizabeth asks about her trip. "Robin, you look great. How is school?"
"Good, how is PCU?"
"About the same. My dad wants me to have a backup major. I can't earn a living as an artist, not yet anyway. It's good to see you; I must prepare for the next number."
Robin finds Sonny, "Sonny, hi!"
Sonny grins, "Robin!" He hugs her. "How are you?"
"I'm good. My health is good. I love Paris, and I am in medical school now."
"Yea? That's great. It's what you always wanted to do."
"Yeah. So, Mac told me Jason left. Is he okay?"
"We aren't in contact. You might want to ask Emily. He's sent her a few postcards."
Surprised, Robin asks why they aren't in touch and wants to know what happened. Carly walks up and snakes her arm through Sonny's. Robin forces a smile, "Hi, Carly." Carly calls Sonny honey, kisses him, and says they should get to their table. Sonny tells Robin he's glad she could be there for the Nurse's Ball.
During a break, Carly goes after Robin. "You've got a lot of nerve showing your face here."
"The Nurse's Ball? A charity for HIV and AIDS-related causes? Or Port Charles, in general. I did live here before you, Carly. What are you doing here with Sonny."
"We're getting married, Princess. You ruined things for Jason and me, and your friend Elizabeth Webber is why Sonny and I are together."
Robin makes a note to ask Elizabeth later 'WTF' Carly is talking about, but tonight is not about shit Carly says to annoy Robin. Robin says, "Have a good night, Carly." Robin exits gracefully and heads to the stage for her keynote speech.
Lucky changed his mind and attended the NB. He seemed happy to watch Elizabeth's act. Lately, it's been hard to determine if he is ever really happy or just under Helena's spell. After her performance, Elizabeth finds Lucky on the terrace and invites him to sit with their friends. Lucky agrees.
Nikolas took Elizabeth home to her studio. She told him he knew where to find her if he needed anything. She would like to be alone.
Elizabeth heard someone trying to break into her studio and got scared. She hit the intruder and tried to run but quickly realized that she had knocked Lucky out. When he regained consciousness, she asked him why he was sneaking into her studio.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were here. I stop by when you aren't here because it reminds me of how things used to be. I missed hanging out with you and watching you paint at the boxcar and the apartment above the garage. I cannot deal with the other stuff, like your constant declaration of love."
"Lucky, I don't want you breaking into my studio when I'm not here. You tell me you don't want us together, yet you break into my place. You are giving mixed messages. I feel as if you are stalking me. I've given up trying. I've accepted your choices; please accept mine. I'll walk you out."
Emily, Elizabeth, Juan, Lucky, and Nikolas attend a rave party in an abandoned house. Emily and Juan fight at the rave after Alison Barrington, a fan of Juan's, starts flirting with the budding young artist. An angry Juan and Lucky have a heated exchange about Juan's treatment of Emily. Juan kisses Alison, and Emily retaliates by flirting with an older stranger. Emily leaves the rave with her new companion, and a concerned Lucky attempts to follow them.
Stay tuned for July-
