Next morning

Issei was in his dimension early in the morning; he had just finished his morning cardio session and was now standing outside his castle. In front of him was his system window, displaying a task for him to do.

[New Task: World Building]

[Criteria: Create a habitable planet in your dimension to live in. Create resource-gathering and farming sections.]

[Bonus Criteria: Make it bigger than Earth for bonus rewards]

"I got this on Monday, but I kept it to the side since I had other matters to deal with," Issei says to himself. "I suppose there's no better time like the present to do so".

Issei then uses his dimension environment creation to create a tree before him. Instantly, a large tree sprouts from the ground and grows to an immense height.

Issei stares up at the tree with a contemplative face, "If I were to farm this tree for its resources and try and take it to the other world, it would vanish from existence upon leaving this dimension. That is because it only exists here; everything using my dimensional manipulation abilities can only exist in this dimension; it has always been like that..." he says to himself, remembering when he made himself clothes using the dimensional creation, only for those clothes to disappear when he entered the other world.

Issei sighs, "To create something out of nothing is difficult, which is why creation is stronger than destruction. To bring something forth into existence is harder than to take something out of existence", he says, throwing some shade a particular destruction ability from a prominent devil clan.

"But I guess destruction is cooler at face value," he resigns. "It took the Biblical God 7 days to create Earth, or so they say. Here I am trying to create a planet much larger in a single day or less".

Issei then glances at the sky of his dimension; he already has a plan for how to build the planet. He knew he was strong but knew his limits and that creating an entire planet larger than Earth was beyond his capabilities. So, he decided to break the process down and let nature do the rest.

First, he would have to make the inner core, which was made from solid metal.

Second, he would have to make the outer core, which was made from liquid metal.

Third, he would have to make the mantle, which is made from silicone minerals.

Fourth, he would have to make the crust; he didn't have time to focus on the finer details and would leave it to the others, which he would summon.

Lastly, he would have to create an atmosphere.

Knowing this task may be straining and exhausting; Issei decided to power up to the max.

[Satanification Stage 1 has been activated!]

[Stats have been increased by 10x]

[Demon Eyes Stage 2 has been activated]

[Stats have been increased by 50%]

Issei's hair turns white, and a malicious and sinister blood-red aura is emitted from his body when powering up.

"Alright, let's do this," he says in a chilling voice as he raises his hands into the sky, ready to start.

[Ability Used: Elemental Manipulation: Elemental Creation]

[Ability Used: Energy Manipulation: Energy Manipulation]

[Ability Used: Chemical Manipulation: Chemical Creation]

Issei focused his mind, drawing upon his extensive knowledge of planetary geology and elemental manipulation. The air around him shimmered as he began to form the core of his new planet.

The solid metal inner core first became a dense, compact sphere of iron and nickel. He infused it with intense energy, ensuring it would remain stable and generate the necessary magnetic fields. This would be the heart of his planet, the foundation upon which everything else would be built.

[Solid Metal Core - Complete]

Next, Issei concentrated on the outer core. This layer was more challenging, requiring a delicate balance between solidity and fluidity. He imagined rivers of molten iron and nickel flowing around the solid core, their movements generating powerful magnetic fields and contributing to the dynamic nature of the planet. The liquid metal surged into existence, encasing the inner core with a churning, vibrant sea of molten metal.

[Liquid Metal Outer Core - Complete]

Issei could momentarily feel the strain from exerting such power; however, his Satanification regeneration worked overtime to keep him in peak condition. The mantle was the next crucial step, a thick layer of silicate minerals supporting the planet's crust. He envisioned vast quantities of silicate materials forming a semi-solid, pliable mass, carrying heat from the core to the surface and enabling tectonic activity.

[Silicate Mantle - Complete]

With the core and mantle in place, Issei focused on the planet's crust. He needed to create a stable surface where life could thrive, with diverse landscapes, fertile soil, and abundant resources. Using his elemental and energy manipulation abilities, he sculpted the crust. Forming continents, mountains, valleys, and oceans was not his job but the job of another.

[Planetary Crust - Complete]

The planet now floated before him, a raw, untamed world filled with potential. Issei knew that to make it truly habitable, he needed to introduce an atmosphere. He summoned vast quantities of gases, combining them to create a breathable atmosphere rich in oxygen and nitrogen.

[Atmosphere - Complete]

Issei's job was finished; instantly, he powered out of Satanfication, his hair turning back to black and his eyes returning to his normal silver colour. He dropped to his knee and panted heavily, the strain from creating a plant finally taking its toll on him.

[Due to powering down, all Stats have returned to base]

Ddraig, observing the entire ordeal, said, "You've outdone yourself, partner. That was no small feat," Ddraig's deep voice rumbled, his tone carrying both admiration and a hint of concern. "But you need to pace yourself. This kind of exertion is taxing, even for someone of your capabilities."

Issei nodded weakly, still catching his breath. "I know, Ddraig. But it had to be done. There's still so much more to do, though," he replied, glancing towards the baron planet.

From what he could see, it was a vastly larger Earth, but it was blank; the only thing on the planet was the crust and nothing more: no ocean, no islands or continents, no nothing, just a blank canvas.

After 5 minutes, Issei could catch his breath; he looked at his castle and teleported the entire thing onto the new planet. While also teleporting himself there as well.

While this happened, Dark-sei watched with a sinister smile; with a wave of his hand, he removed the flat piece of land, which was infinite in size. That was where Issei lived for the past two years. Now, what replaced it was space, space itself.

"Asking him to create an entire Galaxy and Universe would be fun to watch and see him fail. But I guess I'll do this much for him..." Dark-sei says as his blood-red eyes pulsate, and suddenly, an entire Sun was created for Issei's new planet along with other planets to fill in the new Solar System.

Issei, who was now on his planet, watched a Sun being made, his eyes narrow as he knew who exactly did this.

"So, he's decided to help?" he thinks, knowing Dark-sei did this. "What's the agenda this time?"

Unbeknownst to Issei, there was more than a Sun being made. There was also an entire Solar System, Galaxy and Universe being made. Issei sighed, knowing that it's better not to question what Dark-sei does and just accept it, not realising this is how everyone in the other world feels about Issei.

Issei shakes off those thoughts, remembering he has things to do; he raises his hand forward and uses another ability.

[Ability Used: Elemental Creation: Life Creation]

Instantly, multiple elemental sprites appear in front of Issei, each one signifying a different element. Aside from the basic elements, such as fire, water, earth, and air, there were others, such as electricity, crystals, ice, metal, oil, and plant.

Issei then dropped multiple books on the ground, some about environments of fantasy stories such as floating islands, normal environments found in the other world, and others.

"I need you to read these books, get inspired from them, and design the entire planet from what you have learnt," Issei says as the sprite approaches to examine the books.

Then, a few sheets of paper were placed; these papers were for Issei's personal land. "These papers are my requests for all of you; make sure you follow the blueprints", he explains.

The elemental sprites buzzed excitedly, their colourful forms flitting around the books and blueprints. They quickly absorbed the knowledge, their glowing bodies reflecting their growing understanding and enthusiasm. Issei watched them with relief and satisfaction, knowing they would handle the task with the creativity and precision he needed.

Issei stood back, observing the sprites as they began their work. He saw their energy intertwining with the newly formed planet, each sprite moving to different regions to start their respective tasks. The Fire Sprite ignited small patches, beginning the process of creating volcanic islands and thermal hotspots.

The Water Sprite began to fill the basins and valleys, forming oceans, rivers, and lakes that would be the planet's lifeblood—the Earth Sprite-shaped mountains, valleys, and plains, adding texture and diversity to the landscape. The Air Sprite started the formation of winds and weather systems to balance the climate.

The more specialised sprites, like those of crystal, ice, and metal, started integrating their unique touches. The Crystal Sprite created vast, glittering caverns and crystal forests that shimmered with ethereal beauty.

The Ice Sprite formed polar regions and majestic glaciers, ensuring a balance of temperatures across the planet. The Metal Sprite created rich mineral deposits deep within the crust, providing the resources Issei would need for future development.

Issei felt the ground under give tremble as the ground he was standing on was being pushed up. His castle was on this land; he was being raised relatively high.

"Hmm, the average height of landmass underwater on Earth is about 2.8 kilometres. This planet is bigger than Earth, meaning that the landmass's height here will be exponentially higher," he says to himself as he continues to be pushed up.

As the landmass continued to rise, Issei took a moment to appreciate the sheer scale of what he had set into motion. The elemental sprites were transforming his vision into reality, each contributing to creating a world that would soon teem with life and possibilities.

The Earth Sprite, in particular, was working diligently to ensure the landmass that held Issei's castle was stable and majestic. Massive plateaus, towering cliffs, and rolling hills formed a dramatic and awe-inspiring landscape. The height of the landmass grew exponentially, eventually stopping at a breathtaking altitude.

"It'll take a long while for this planet to be complete; I'll give 5000 years", Issei says as he opens the system menu and goes to the ability tab.

He pressed on pocket dimension manipulation and maxed out the time compression to the max level. Now, he can dilate the entire dimension's time so that 5000 years will pass in a single day in the real world.

Issei has a satisfied smirk on his face, "I guess I'll check in tomorrow to see the results", he says as he opens a rift.

[Ability Used: Rift]

He enters the rift and goes to Kouh Academy, leaving behind a developing world.

Issei's day as a school counsellor was like yesterday; it was painfully dull. Aside from the students' meaningless problems, Issei had to decline appointment requests from Rias, who is still upset about yesterday's events with Akeno.

The only saving grace of today is some stories from the students who had rather interesting stories. Issei was now in the Academy Staff room, washing the coffee mug he had drunk from before putting it away in the drying rack.

Behind him, the entrance door opened, and another walked in. Sensing who it was, Issei smiled a bit; he could also feel the other person's emotions, ranging from happiness and longing to annoyance.

"I guess she's still upset; luckily, I got her a gift," he thinks as he turns around to see Rossweisse, a playful smirk on his lips.

Issei leaned back against the countertop, "You still upset, Rose?" he asked teasingly.

Rossweisse blushed, seeing the face Issei made when he was teasing her. However, she huffed and looked away, not wanting to give Issei the satisfaction.

"I specifically told you to come to your own Trial, and you said you would; imagine my disappointment when you not only broke your promise but also didn't listen to me", Rossweisse replied, still looking away.

Issei chuckled lightly and started walking towards her, "Did you really expect me to waste my time in a situation that was rigged against me?" he asked, getting close to Rossweisse.

Rossweisse finally turned her head to Issei, "Even if it was rigged, you should've still showed up!" she rebuts. "I really hope your tardiness doesn't rub off on Astrid!"

Issei laughed lightly, "She was content with knowing that I wasn't going. She said something along the lines of 'You're too cool to waste your time at boring meetings'," he replied jovially.

Rossweisse sighed, her resolve weakening slightly at Issei's charming smile. She couldn't help but feel frustration and amusement at his casual demeanour.

"You always manage to have an excuse, don't you?" she muttered, crossing her arms. "And what is this about you starting a gambling club?! Why are you encouraging students to waste money so casually?!" she scolds authoritatively, poking a finger at Issei's chest.

Issei doesn't bother trying to make an excuse since he doesn't have a good one to counter her accusation and doesn't want to reveal his secret fight club.

"Well, I don't have a reason aside from profit for that club", Issei answers.

Rossweisse's eyes narrowed as she listened to Issei's nonchalant admission, "Profit? Issei, these are students! They're supposed to be focusing on their studies, not gambling away their allowances," she reprimanded, her tone sharp and disapproving.

Issei raised his hands placatingly, "I get it, Rose. But it's not as bad as it sounds. The club teaches them strategic thinking, probability, and even some financial management. It's not just mindless gambling."

Rossweisse huffed, unconvinced. "That doesn't change the fact that it's inappropriate. You should be setting a better example."

Issei sighed, unable to avoid Rossweisse's reprimands. "Well, to make it up to you, I got you an apology gift," he says as he opens his pocket dimension and pulls out the handbag he bought the day before.

"Here, I saw this. I thought you might like it", he says as he hands the CHANEL Timeless Jumbo Classic Flap shoulder bag to Rossweisse.

Rossweisse's eyes widened in surprise as she took the handbag from Issei. Her stern expression softened as she admired the craftsmanship and elegance of the bag.

"Issei... this is beautiful," she murmured, running her fingers over the smooth leather. "How much did you pay for this?" she asked, though her tone was less harsh.

Before Issei spoke, he was in his head. "From what Göndul told me, Rossweisse is quite the cheapskate. If I told her that I paid over 2.2 Million Yen for it, she won't take the gift and ask me to return it," he thinks as he realises, he has to lie to Rossweisse again.

"I walked through a random garage sale yesterday and found this for cheap," he answered. "I thought you would like it."

Rossweisse's expression softened further, a hint of a smile playing at her lips. "Thank you, Issei," she said, her voice filled with genuine appreciation. "It's a lovely gift."

Issei breathed a small sigh of relief, glad that his attempt to placate her had worked. "You're welcome, Rose. I just wanted to show you that I care, even if I sometimes make... questionable decisions," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

Rossweisse chuckled softly, her annoyance dissipating. "You have a strange way of showing it, but I appreciate the gesture," she said, slinging the handbag over her shoulder. "I just remembered; Asia came to me yesterday asking if you could help with her training."

Issei's face became stern, and his eyes narrowed. "Did she now? And she couldn't have asked me herself?" he asked, a bit on edge.

Rossweisse chuckled nervously, unsure of how to phrase her following words. "Well, you see... Issei... you don't have the friendliest or approachable faces, and Asia seems to get timid around you," she replies.

Issei's face contorted in disbelief, "You're telling me that Asia is afraid of my face? Astrid doesn't have a problem when interacting with me; are you saying that an 11-year-old girl is braver than a 16-year-old girl?" he asked, his tone incredulous.

Rossweisse shook her head, trying to find the right words. "It's not just your face, Issei. It's your overall presence. You can be... intimidating," she explained. "Asia admires you a lot, but she's still a bit nervous around you. It's something you might want to work on."

Rossweisse was used to the side Issei had shown her and Astrid; she did spend three weeks with him. Within those three weeks, she noticed that Issei had a more nurturing and caring side as compared to his colder, reserved and dismissive side.

On Monday, when she had witnessed Issei's behaviour in front of the ORC and the Satans, she remembered Issei could come off as unemotional and heartless towards the ORC and others. Still, she knew what Issei would be like if you were on his good side; Rossweisse didn't know why, but that idea put butterflies in her stomach.

Issei sighed deeply, realising Rossweisse's point. "I guess I can be a bit... intense," he admitted. "I'll see what I can do for her,"

Rossweisse nodded, relieved that Issei was willing to make an effort. "Thank you, Issei. Asia looks up to you a lot, and I think your guidance would mean a lot to her," she said, smiling.

Issei smirked, "I'm pretty sure I'm not someone you should look up to. Given my usual theatrics", he replied playfully.

Rossweisse rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress a small smile, "Your theatrics are part of what makes you unique, Issei. Just... try to tone it down a bit for Asia's sake."

Issei nodded, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. "I suppose I can manage that," he said. "I'll talk to her and see how I can help with her training."

Rossweisse smiled, feeling a sense of accomplishment. "Good. She'll appreciate it, and it will be good for both of you."

Issei chuckled, "Who knew you could be such a diplomat, Rose?" he teased.

She blushed slightly, looking away. "Someone has to keep you in check," she replied, her voice tinged with affection. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some papers to grade."

Issei watched Rossweisse walk away, "Always keeping me in line," he murmured with a chuckle.

As Rossweisse walked away, Issei felt a familiar presence stir within him.

"You know, partner, you've become quite the softie," Ddraig's deep voice echoed in Issei's mind, tinged with amusement. "It's almost like you're... what's the term humans use? Whipped?"

Issei rolled his eyes, a smirk playing on his lips. "Be quiet, Ddraig. It's called being considerate," he retorted mentally.

Ddraig let out a low chuckle, "Sure, sure," he replied, his tone teasing. "I've seen lesser men bow down to their women throughout the ages, especially those of hosts of me and Albion. I pretty sure the Crimson Satan is scared of his beloved," he says, referring to Sirzechs and Grayfia.

"Lesser men? Who exactly do you know is greater than myself, who is also whipped?" Issei asked, a bit curious.

Ddraig huffed, "Aside from yours truly? No one", he replied with a bit of pride.

Issei raised an eyebrow at the statement, "Are you implying that a Heavenly Dragon such as yourself was once whipped?" he asked, his tone a mixture of disbelief and teasing.

Ddraig spluttered within Issei's mind, caught off guard by the sudden shift in the conversation. "W-What I meant was... there have been times when even dragons had to... show consideration," he stammered, trying to backpedal.

Issei laughed out loud, causing a few heads in the staff room to turn in his direction. He waved them off, still chuckling. "I can't believe it. The mighty Ddraig, the Red Dragon of Domination, once had to bend to someone else's will. This I have to hear," he teased, his amusement evident.

Ddraig grumbled, clearly embarrassed. "It was a long time ago, and it's not something I like to talk about," he muttered defensively.

Issei's grin widened. "Oh, come on, Ddraig. You can't just drop a bomb like that and not tell me the story. Who was it? Another dragon?" he prodded, thoroughly enjoying the rare opportunity to tease his usually stoic partner.

Ddraig sighed, resigning himself to the inevitable. "Fine, I'll tell you. But only because you won't let it go," he grumbled. "There was a dragoness. She was... formidable, both in power and personality. We clashed many times, but there was a certain respect between us."

Issei's interest was piqued. "And? What happened?" he asked.

"She challenged me in ways I wasn't used to," Ddraig admitted reluctantly. "It wasn't just about power or dominance with her. She had a way of seeing through my bravado and getting to the heart of things. Over time, I found myself... yielding to her wisdom and strength."

Issei's eyes widened in surprise. "So you were... in love?" he ventured cautiously.

Ddraig's silence spoke volumes. Finally, he responded, his tone softer. "I suppose, in a way, I was. But our paths were destined to diverge. She valued harmony and balance while I was... well, you know me."

Issei chuckled, "Yeah, I know. You were too obsessed with your rivalry with Albion", he replied.

Ddraig huffed, clearly not wanting to delve further into the topic. "Indeed. My rivalry with Albion consumed much of my attention and energy. There was little room for anything else."

Issei started to walk out of the staffroom and head back to his office, the occasional giggle escaping his lips as he thought about Ddraig's story. Ddraig, on the other hand, was regretting telling Issei anything.

X

During the day, Rossweisse was being complimented on her new handbag; although she appreciated the comments, she could feel a bit patronised, thinking the comments weren't genuine. She knew that Issei had gotten this handbag from a garage sale and didn't spend much on it; perhaps this was a new trend, she presumed.

It was lunchtime, and Rias called Rossweisse into the ORC clubhouse for a peerage meeting. Rossweisse entered the ORC clubhouse, her new handbag catching the light as she moved.

She saw Rias seated at her desk, her usual regal demeanour commanding the room. The rest of the peerage, including Akeno, Kiba, Koneko, Gasper, and Xenovia, were already gathered, along with Irina, who stood next to Xenovia.

"Ah, Rossweisse, there you are," Rias greeted her with a smile. "Please, have a seat."

Rossweisse nodded and took her place among the group, her handbag resting on her lap. She noticed Akeno eyeing the bag with interest and a hint of amusement.

"Nice handbag, Rossweisse," Akeno remarked, her tone light but with an edge of teasing. "A gift from a special someone, I presume?" she asked in the same tone.

Rossweisse blushed slightly, feeling self-conscious under Akeno's gaze. "Yes, he thought I might like it," she replied, trying to keep her tone neutral.

Everyone in the ORC gave Rossweisse a look of disbelief; does Rossweisse have a special someone? Was Hell finally freezing over? They all knew Rossweisse was quite strict and a bit insecure regarding relationships, so learning that Rossweisse has a lover was a bombshell for the other.

Rias arched an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "Oh? And who might this 'he' be?" she asked, her tone playful but genuinely interested.

Rossweisse shifted uncomfortably, realising she might have said more than she intended. "It's... it's a secret," she admitted quietly, her cheeks tinged with pink, not wanting to reveal her secret relationship with Issei.

Rias leaned back in her chair, a mischievous glint in her eye. "A secret, huh? Now you've really piqued our interest, Rossweisse," she said with a playful smile.

Akeno's smile widened, her eyes filled with amusement. "Come on, Rossweisse, you can't leave us hanging like that," she urged. "Just a little hint?"

Rossweisse fidgeted with the strap of her handbag, feeling the weight of everyone's eyes on her. "It's really nothing special," she insisted, trying to downplay the situation. "Just someone I know who thought this would be a nice gift."

Xenovia leaned forward, her expression earnest. "Well, whoever it is, they have good taste," she commented, examining the handbag with appreciation. "It's beautiful."

Rossweisse tried to maintain her composure, feeling the need to downplay the significance of the gift. "Oh, he just found it at a garage sale for cheap," she said, forcing a smile. "It's nothing too special."

Rias's eyes widened at Rossweisse's comment, and she leaned forward with a knowing look. "Rossweisse, are you sure about that? Because that handbag is a Chanel Timeless Jumbo Classic Flap. Even second-hand, it would cost well over 2 million Yen. It's not something you'd typically find at a garage sale."

Rossweisse felt a wave of panic wash over her. She glanced at her handbag, then back at Rias, trying to maintain her composure. "Oh, um, maybe it wasn't exactly a garage sale. Maybe it was more of a... special discount," she stammered, grasping for a plausible excuse.

Rossweisse then realises that Issei had lied to her, again, "He said he got it from a garage sale! Did he really spend over 2 million yen on this bag?!" she thinks in a silent panic, as the level of money being spent on her made her feel uncomfortable.

Akeno chuckled, clearly enjoying Rossweisse's discomfort. "Special discount or not, it's a beautiful bag and a very thoughtful gift. Whoever this mystery man is, he must really care about you," she states teasingly.

Rossweisse's heart raced as her mind swirled with conflicting emotions. The thought that Issei might have spent so much money on a gift for her made her feel a mixture of gratitude, confusion, and panic. She had to know the truth.

She got up from her seat and faced Rias, "I'm sorry, Rias, something came up, and I have to do it urgently", she replied in haste as she dashed out of her clubhouse towards Issei's new clubhouse.

Rias and the rest of the ORC watched in stunned silence as Rossweisse dashed out of the clubhouse. The normally composed Valkyrie's abrupt departure left them all momentarily speechless.

Rias exchanged a puzzled glance with Akeno, who was equally taken aback. "That was... unexpected," Rias said, her brow furrowing in concern.

Akeno nodded, her eyes still on the door Rossweisse had just hurried through. "I wonder what could be so urgent," she mused aloud.

Koneko, who had been quietly observing the exchange, spoke up. "It's probably about Issei," she said matter-of-factly, her eyes narrowing slightly.

Kiba, always the voice of reason, offered a thoughtful nod. "That does seem likely. She was quite flustered after the conversation about the handbag."

Irina, who had been standing beside Xenovia, chimed in with a concerned expression. "Do you think something happened between them?" she asked, glancing at Rias for guidance.

Rias sighed, rubbing her temples as she tried to piece together the situation. But suddenly, a pit starts growing in her stomach as if putting the pieces together, specifically about Issei's relationship with this Rose girl.

"Rossweisse, Rose. Ross, Rose. Rose. Rose. Rose... it can't be!" Rias thinks in horror, her hand covering her mouth, trying to process the information.

Akeno, who was also on the same train of thought, "Could this mysterious Rose girl be Rossweisse?" asked out loud, noticing the name play on Rose and Rossweisse, driving daggers into Rias's chest.

Koneko's eyes also widen in realisation, "It would make sense if she was; Issei only mentioned the name Rose after he returned from Norway, where he spent an entire week with Rossweisse", she mutters, a chill running down her back, making Rias's entire world flip.

Rias felt a wave of dizziness as the pieces fell into place. The timing, mysterious gift, and Issei's odd behaviour revealed one undeniable truth. She staggered slightly, leaning on the desk for support.

Akeno placed a reassuring hand on Rias's shoulder, her eyes filled with concern. "Rias, are you okay?" she asked softly, her usual playful demeanour replaced with genuine worry.

Rias straightened herself, her mind racing with the implications of the sudden revelation. She couldn't afford to jump to conclusions, but she had to know for sure.

"I need to confirm this," Rias declared, her voice steadier than she felt. "Akeno, Kiba, Koneko, Asia, Irina, Xenovia—let's go. We need to find Rossweisse and Issei."

The group quickly exited the ORC clubhouse office, their footsteps echoing down the hallways as they approached Issei's new gambling clubhouse. Rias's heart pounded in her chest, a mixture of dread and hope fueling her swift pace.

X

Meanwhile, Rossweisse arrived at the gambling clubhouse, her heart pounding. She tried to push the door open but found it locked, so she decided to knock.

Issei was overseeing a fight between two students in his underground fight club. Suddenly, his senses go, and he feels someone at the entrance door.

He then looks down at Ravel, "Someone is at the entrance door; I'm going to go check who it is. Just keep an eye on things here," Issei says as he makes his way to the staircase.

Ravel was slightly startled, thinking their Fight Club was discovered on the second day. "Oh- okay," she replied with a bit of apprehension.

Issei walked up the staircase and closed the fake bookshelf to hide the secret entrance. He then moved over to the entrance, but before he opened the door, he expanded his senses to see who it was.

Issei's eyes widened at finding out who it was, "I didn't think Rossweisse would actually show up", he thought to himself as he opened the door.

Rossweisse stood on the other side of the door, her expression a mixture of chagrin and uncertainty. She looked up at Issei, who opened the door with a surprised but calm demeanour.

"Rose," Issei greeted, trying to keep his tone neutral. "What brings you here?"

Rossweisse took a deep breath, clutching the handbag tightly in her hand. "We need to talk," she said, her voice steady but urgent. "It's about this handbag."

Issei's eyes flickered to the handbag, and he could see the look in Rossweisse's eyes. He nodded and stepped aside to let her in. "Alright, let's talk," he said, closing the door behind her.

They walked to the second floor of the clubhouse, away from the secret entrance to the Underground Fight Club. Rossweisse turned to face Issei, her expression serious.

Rossweisse wasted no time. She held up the handbag, her eyes searching Issei's face for answers. "Issei, did you really get this from a garage sale?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.

Issei sighed, realising that his little white lie had been discovered. "No, Rose. I didn't get it from a garage sale," he admitted.

Rossweisse's eyes widened, and she felt a lump in her throat. "Then where did you get it? And how much did you really pay for it?" she demanded, needing to hear the truth.

Issei met her gaze, his expression serious. "I bought it from a high-end store. It cost over 2 million Yen," he confessed.

Rossweisse's breath hitched at the admission, and she felt a rush of conflicting emotions—gratitude, confusion, and a touch of panic. "Issei, you can't just spend that kind of money on me," she said, her voice softening as she looked at him. "It's too much."

Issei stepped closer, his eyes filled with sincerity. "Did you really expect me to gift you something cheap from a random slum? Come on, Rose, you're worth more than that," he explained, his tone earnest.

Rossweisse's heart softened at Issei's words, but the unease still lingered. She appreciated his sincerity but couldn't shake off the worry that he was being too extravagant. "I understand, Issei. And I do appreciate the gesture, I really do. But next time, please don't feel like you have to spend so much money to show you care," she said gently.

Issei smirked playfully and got intimately close to Rossweisse. "I'll spend however much I want on you because you mean that much to me," he said teasingly.

Rossweisse's cheeks flushed at Issei's proximity and playful tone. Despite her lingering concerns, she couldn't help but feel a flutter of warmth at his words.

"Issei, you're incorrigible," she replied, trying to sound stern but failing as a smile tugged at the corners of her lips.

Issei chuckled, his breath warm against her cheek. "Guilty as charged," he said, his tone softening. "But seriously, Rose, how did you figure out that the bag was expensive?" he asked.

Rossweisse glanced away briefly, feeling a bit sheepish. "Rias pointed it out during the peerage meeting. She mentioned the brand and the approximate cost," she admitted, her cheeks still flushed.

Issei raised an eyebrow, "Leave it to Rias to notice the finer details; of course, she'd know the prices for designer wear, coming from practically royalty", he thought.

Issei remarked with a chuckle. "Well, I guess the cat's out of the bag now, so to speak."

Rossweisse rolled her eyes, but her expression showed a hint of amusement. "Yes, it seems so," she replied, unable to suppress a small smile. "But Issei, please promise me you won't spend exorbitant amounts of money on gifts in the future. I appreciate the sentiment, but it's the thought that counts."

Issei smirked defiantly, "Sure, sure, whatever you say, Rose," replied, his tone a mixture of playfulness and dismissiveness.

Rossweisse narrowed her eyes at Issei's response, knowing all too well his tendency to be impulsive. "Issei, I'm serious," she said her tone firm. "I don't want you putting yourself in financial trouble just to impress me."

Before Issei can respond, there is another set of knocking at the front door; the two turn their heads towards the direction of the door.

Issei's eyes narrow, wondering who it could be this time. He expanded his senses to check who it was; he felt that it was the ORC members. "Seems like you were followed here; Rias and the others are here," he says to Rossweisse.

Rossweisse's eyes widened, her mind running 100 miles per hour, and she knew her secret relationship with Issei might be compromised. "Issei, we-" she starts before Issei cuts her off.

"It's fine; they won't find out," he says as he stretches his left arm forward.

[Ability Used: Rift]

He opens a rift for Rossweisse to walk through, "This leads to my counsellor's office. I'll deal with the uninvited guests," he continues.

Rossweisse hesitated momentarily, torn between staying with Issei and facing the ORC members or taking the opportunity to slip away unnoticed. The confidence in Issei's voice and the seriousness in his eyes convinced her to trust his judgment.

"Alright, I'll go," she said, giving Issei a grateful nod before stepping through the rift.

Issei made his way to the entrance of the gambling clubhouse, his expression calm but resolute. He opened the door to find Rias and the rest of the ORC members waiting outside, their expressions a mix of concern and suspicion.

Issei scoffed, "What do you fools want now?" he asked, annoyed that ORC came again today just to interrogate him.

Rias's eyes narrowed at Issei's dismissive tone, her expression growing more serious. "Issei, we need to talk," she said, her voice confrontational.

Issei leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms over his chest. "What's this about now? Did something happen?" he asked, feigning innocence.

Rias narrowed her eyes, not fooled by Issei's casual demeanour. "Rossweisse left the clubhouse in a hurry, and we thought she might be here," she explained, her tone serious.

Issei smirked, knowing that he had to keep his composure. "Oh, what makes you think she is here?" he asked, his tone smooth and unbothered.

Rias was irritated by Issei's usual demeanour and scowled, "A hunch. Is she here or not?" she demanded in the same tone.

Issei knew he couldn't bypass that answer with his dismissive attitude, "No, she's not", he replied unbothered.

The frown on Rias's face grew, even if it were by a fraction. "Then where is she?" she asks, trying to hold back her anger.

Issei shrugs his shoulders, "Who knows, the last time I saw her was in the staff room" he replied

"And what did the two of you talk about when you were in the staff room?" Rias asked, hoping it wasn't like the Akeno situation yesterday.

Issei sighed, "Well, she informed me that Asia wanted my assistance with her training," he answered, looking towards Asia, whose face went red from the attention on her.

Rias also turned to Asia, "Asia, is this true?" she asked in a severe tone.

Asia started to shrink, the gazes of both Issei and Rias on her, "Ye- yes! I did ask Rossweisse if she requested Issei give me a bit of help!" she stutters out.

Rias then turned her gaze towards Issei, who was now looking at her, "Now, is that all your questions answered? If so, then leave. I have better things to do," Issei says in a bored tone.

Rias's glare on Issei intensifies, "Issei, be honest with me", she starts in a low tone. "Is Rossweisse this Rose person?" she asked demandingly.

A lump formed in Issei's throat; he knew he'd have to answer carefully; otherwise, his secret relationship would become jeopardised. "Is that why you're here? To confirm whether I'm in a relationship with Rossweisse? Pray tell, what makes you think it's Rossweisse?" he asked in a dismissive tone.

Rias's eyes narrowed further, her suspicion not abating. "The timing, the name similarity, and the fact that you've been acting strange ever since your trip to Norway with Rossweisse. It all adds up, Issei," she said, her voice firm.

Issei remained leaning against the doorframe, his expression calm and composed. "Rias, you're making a lot of assumptions here. Just because Rossweisse and I spent time together in Norway doesn't mean we're in a relationship," he replied smoothly.

Rias's eyes flared with intensity; the suspicion in her gaze shifted to something darker and more unsettling. She stepped closer to Issei, her posture stiff and her hands clenched into fists at her sides. "Issei, don't play games with me," she said, her voice low and trembling with barely controlled emotion. "I can see through your lies."

Issei raises his eyebrow, sensing the change in Rias's demeanour. "Rias, I'm not lying to you," he insisted calmly. "There's nothing going on between me and Rossweisse."

Rias's eyes bore into his, her expression twisting into a mix of hurt and anger. "You've been distant, secretive, and now you're trying to tell me there's nothing between you two? I can feel it, Issei. I know you're hiding something from me," she hissed, her voice gripping an almost desperate edge.

Issei's expression becomes stern, feeling the anger in Rias rising. "Like I said already, there's nothing going on between me and Rossweisse, and even if there was, why are you so concerned?" he asked.

Rias's aura flared, crimson energy crackling around her, reflecting the storm of emotions within. "Because I care about you, Issei! Because I can't stand the thought of you hiding things from me, especially when it involves another woman," she shouted, her voice trembling with intensity.

Issei held his ground, meeting Rias's gaze with a stern one. "Rias, you need to calm down," he said, his voice serious.

Rias's anger only intensified at Issei's calm demeanour. The crimson energy around her surged, and her eyes glowed almost ferally. "Don't you dare tell me to calm down!" she shouted, her voice echoing through the hallway. "You've been keeping secrets, Issei! You can't just brush this off like it doesn't matter!"

Issei's own aura began to flare, a reaction to Rias's escalating fury. An oppressive aura enveloped everyone, the ORC members, and a feeling of cold, crushing, and suffocating sensation was washing over them. As if being dropped into a cold and violent ocean and dragged and drowned into the dark abyss.

"I said, calm down. I mean it," Issei says in a threatening and low tone, his blood-red eyes glaring into Rias's crimson-red eyes.

[Fear has been Induced]

[Target's Stats have been reduced by 46%]

Rias felt the full force of Issei's aura, its intensity cutting through her anger and replacing it with a sharp pang of fear. She stepped back, her aura flickering and dissipating as the oppressive feeling enveloped her.

Issei maintained his gaze, his blood-red eyes still active. "Rias, I told you my answer; I won't repeat myself again," he said, his tone still serious.

Rias's heart pounded as the oppressive aura weighed down on her. She took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. She knew pushing Issei further in this state would be unwise. She had never been on the receiving end of his aura, except for when he fought Heracles and Jeanne. It was both unsettling and a stark reminder of the power he had.

Issei gradually lowered his aura as Rias backed off, his eyes returning to their normal silver colour. He glances over at the other members of the ORC, who are still frozen in place from his aura burst.

His eyes then land on Xenovia, remembering that he still had to return her newly forged Ex-Durandal. "Xenovia, you're here? Good, this is for you," he says calmly as he opens a pocket dimension and pulls out Ex-Durandal.

The holy sword radiated a gold light and had lightning sparking and arcing around the blade.

Xenovia's eyes widened in surprise as Issei handed her the newly forged Ex-Durandal. She took the sword with awe and gratitude, the weapon's radiant energy pulsing in her grip. "Thank you, Issei," she said, her voice steady but filled with appreciation. "This means a lot to me."

Issei then pulled a book from his pocket dimension, "Take this as well; it's a book on how to utilise that sword better. When I re-forged it, I noticed you don't take advantage of all the sword capabilities. So this book will help" he says in the same tone, handing the book to Xenovia.

Xenovia takes the book and looks at how thick it is. "Thanks, Issei, but I'm content with the way I use it", she replied in an appreciative tone, not wanting to read the thick book.

Issei grew an annoyed look on his face, "You mean aimlessly swinging it around?" he asked in an irritated tone, causing Xenovia to flinch. "Had you used your sword to be full capability, then it would've been broken by Cao Cao in the first place".

Xenovia tried to say something, but Issei moved closer to her, his eyes glaring down on her, causing Xenovia's face to grow a bit red.

"You WILL learn everything from that book Xenovia; I won't let a good weapon go to waste in the hands of a moron", he says harshly, "Either you learn from that book, or I beat that book on your thick head until all the knowledge from it is sated into you. Do I make myself clear?" he asked in a tone which promised pain if disobeyed.

The atmosphere in the room shifted dramatically as Issei's tone turned harsh and authoritative. Xenovia, taken aback by his sudden change in demeanour, swallowed nervously. She had always respected Issei's strength and leadership, but this was a side of him she hadn't experienced before.

The only ones who weren't affected were Kiba and Akeno since they had been on the receiving end of such treatment since Issei had trained them. Akeno, however, felt a bit jealous, wanting to be in Xenovia's place, and was scolded by Issei.

"Issei, I appreciate your concern for my improvement, but..." Xenovia started, her voice wavering slightly under his intense gaze.

Issei interrupted her, his eyes narrowing dangerously. "No 'buts,' Xenovia. You will study that book and learn how to use Ex-Durandal properly. This isn't a suggestion; it's an order," he said firmly, his voice brooking no argument.

Issei then looked towards the ORC members, saw Koneko, and remembered he had to take her to see Kuroka in the Underworld. "Koneko, you'll be coming with me after school today", he says calmly.

Koneko's ears perked up at Issei's mention of her name, her eyes widening slightly in surprise. "Why?" she asked, her voice quiet but tinged with curiosity.

Issei's silver eyes stared into Koneko's yellow eyes, "Someone wishes to see you and speak with you", he replied.

Koneko's ears twitched at Issei's words, her curiosity piqued. "Who?" she asked, her voice soft but firm.

Before Issei answered, he pondered for a moment. "If I tell her that Kuroka wants to see her, Rias won't allow me to take her with me. And Koneko herself may not want to go."

Having made up his mind, "You'll see", Issei answered cryptically.

Koneko frowned slightly at Issei's cryptic response but nodded, trusting him despite her curiosity.

Rias, sensing something amiss, stepped forward with a frown. "Issei, if this involves Koneko, I have the right to know what's going on," she said firmly, her eyes narrowing slightly.

Issei's eyes landed back on Rias, "She'll be fine; you'll have her back by 4", he answered curtly.

Before Rias could retort, Issei spoke. "Now, if that's all, please leave. I have things to do," he says seriously as he closes the door on them.

Rias stood there momentarily, her hand still raised as if she were about to knock again. She clenched her fist, frustration evident in her expression, but she knew pushing further right now would be futile.

She turned to the other ORC members, her face a mask of determination. "Let's go. We have things to speak about," she said, her voice firm.

The ORC members nodded, though they exchanged worried glances as they followed Rias back to their clubhouse.

X

The school day passed uneventfully, with Issei doing his job and the ORC members focusing on their classes and individual tasks. As the final bell rang, signalling the end of the school day, Issei made his way to the ORC Clubhouse, where Koneko was waiting.

Koneko stood with her arms crossed, her expression curious and impatient. "Are you finally going to tell me what's going on?" she asked as Issei approached.

[Ability Used: Rift]

"You'll find out soon enough. Let's go," he replied, leading her towards the rift he had opened.

"After you," Issei said, gesturing for Koneko to step through first.

Koneko hesitated for a moment, then nodded and stepped through the rift. Issei followed closely behind, the rift closing behind them as space-time converged and closed up.

As they stepped through the rift, they found themselves in a secluded area of the Underworld.

Koneko looks around; she recognises this place as the Capital, Lilith. She notices the residents around them start staring at them and pointing fingers, specifically at Issei.

Issei, in the meanwhile, expanded his senses and scanned the entire Underworld, looking for Kuroka's signature; he felt it in an abandoned part of the Underworld. He also scanned the area where his fights took place last week and learnt that the reconstruction of the area was well in progress despite the short time frame.

"Come on, let's go," Issei says as he moves towards Kuroka's location.

Koneko hurriedly stuck next to Issei and followed him. "People are staring at us, or more rather, you", she said in a low whisper.

Issei scoffs, "So? Let them look. It matters not to me", he replied dismissively.

Koneko's eyes narrow, "You do know it's illegal to enter the Underworld via space-time manipulation unless authorised by a Satan, right?" she asked in an incredulous tone.

Hearing that statement, he snorts. "If it's illegal, then why is it so easy to commit? Wouldn't it be more appropriate for them to enforce said laws? That way, events such as the one on Saturday can be avoided," he replied, referring to the invasion that almost wiped out the Devil race if it weren't for Issei's intervention.

Koneko frowned slightly at Issei's nonchalant response but decided not to press further. However, she knew he had a point. Despite the laws, the Underworld's security measures had proven insufficient during the recent invasion.

Issei glanced over at Koneko's petite form, wondering how she'd take the upcoming news. Kuroka had told Issei the reason why she killed her former master; in honesty, he hoped that the two could resolve their issues.

Issei lets out a sigh, "This will take too long if we walk, "he says as he picks Koneko up by the scruff on her neck, akin to an owner picking up their pet cat.

Koneko's eyes widened in surprise as Issei picked her up by the scruff of her neck. She shot him a glare, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment and irritation. "Issei! Put me down!" she demanded, her voice filled with embarrassment and annoyance as her limbs dangled in the air.

Ignoring Koneko's protest, Issei just looked at her impassively, "Close your mouth; you wouldn't want any bugs flying in", he said with a sly smirk as he started running at blinding speeds towards their destination.

Koneko's protests were drowned out by the rush of wind as Issei sprinted through the streets of Lilith at a speed that left the city's inhabitants as little more than blurs. The buildings and landscape zipped past them in a blur, and objects flew and tilted to the side from the force he generated as he ran.

Within Issei's mind, a particular theme song started playing, "My name is Issei Hyoudou, and I am the fastest man alive", he says inwardly, causing Ddraig to groan in annoyance.

"You've been watching too many superhero shows, partner," Ddraig rumbled, his voice filled with exasperation.

Issei chuckled mentally as he continued to run.

Within moments, they arrived at a secluded area on the outskirts of the Underworld capital. As they approached their destination, Issei gradually slowed down and gently set Koneko on her feet. She quickly regained her balance, her cheeks flushed from the experience and her hair slightly dishevelled.

Koneko, holding her abdomen, moved over to a nearby bush and threw up her stomach contents. Issei, having a heightened sense, could smell the putrid odour but could discern that a majority of the vomit was sweets.

Koneko finally caught her breath, looked up, and glared at Issei. "You could've warned me," she muttered weakly.

Issei huffs, "Perhaps it'd be wise for you to eat a more well-balanced diet than consistently eating sweets all the time", he refutes as he points his palm towards the vomit.

[Ability Used: Elemental Manipulation: Elemental Generation: Darkness]

The darkness swirled around the vomit, starting to swallow and dissolve it into nothing so he wouldn't have to continue smelling the horrid odour. Koneko watched in astonishment as the darkness absorbed the vomit, leaving no trace behind. She straightened up, still feeling shaky but managing to regain her composure, a low hiss escaping her lips at Issei's words.

"You're one to talk about diets, Issei," Koneko retorted, her voice still weak but gaining strength. "Not everyone can maintain a perfect balance like you."

Issei shrugged nonchalantly, folding his arms across his chest. "It's just discipline, nothing more, nothing less," he stated casually.

She sighed, straightening her uniform and trying to ignore the residual queasiness. She looked around to see where Issei had taken her; she saw she was at the home of her former master.

Koneko's eyes widened in shock, "This place... this was she..." she muttered as a flood of bad memories flashed through her mind.

Issei slaps Koneko's back slightly, "Come on, don't chicken out now. Face your traumas", he says as he leads Koneko to the front entrance.

The two walk inside and see the destroyed interior. Koneko slowly but surely walks through the house, her mind racing as he remembers the memories in this place. Each one weakened her resolve to move forward.

As they walked, Koneko couldn't shake the feeling of unease. Memories of her time here flooded her mind—memories of training, harsh lessons, and her former master's demanding voice. She clenched her fists, steeling herself against the rising tide of emotions.

Issei then moved over a hidden passageway and forced it open with his brute strength, "My spacial awareness sensed that something was amiss here", he thought, pulling the fake wall off the hinges.

Koneko, hearing the breaking of objects, turns to see a passageway that she didn't remember when she was here, "What's that?" she asked in confusion.

Issei didn't say anything and gestured for Koneko to walk in first; she hesitantly walked to the passageway and looked down to see a long hallway with a light at the end.

Koneko hesitated at the entrance of the hidden passageway, her heart pounding with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension. She glanced back at Issei, who gestured for her to go ahead. With a deep breath, she stepped into the dark hallway, her footsteps echoing softly against the stone walls.

Issei followed closely behind her, his senses on high alert as they ventured deeper into the unknown passage. The air grew more relaxed and the darkness more oppressive, but a faint light at the end of the corridor beckoned them forward.

As they reached the end, Koneko covered her eyes with the bright white light; her eyes flickered, trying to adjust from the complete darkness to the light. When she finally saw the room, she was astonished; in front of her was what seemed to be a research base.

"What... what is all this?" Koneko muttered, trepidation in her voice.

Issei moved forward and saw a book on one of the tables; a thick layer of dust and spider webs covered it. Issei swipes his hands over the book, and instantly, all the dirt and grim disappear. Some smaller spiders flee from the Issei's movement to the corner of the table's edge.

Issei then opens the book and looks through its contents. "These must be his research notes," Issei commented, scanning the intricate scripts and diagrams. "It looks like he was studying demonic transformations and enhancements."

Koneko leaned closer, her eyes scanning the pages with fascination and dread. "He was always obsessed with power... with making us stronger," she murmured, her voice tinged with bitterness.

Issei then looked at Koneko from the corner of his eyes, "And do you know what he did to achieve that?" he asked, knowing Koneko didn't have a shred of information.

Koneko shook her head, "No, I don't", she answered.

Issei then turned his head towards Koneko, "Let me start from the beginning", he started. "Your former master was obsessed with the idea of creating Super Devils, enough to experiment on the members of his peerage."

Koneko's breath caught in her throat as Issei's words sank in—the implications of what he was saying sent a chill down her spine.

She stared at him, her eyes wide with disbelief and horror. "Experiment... on us?" she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper.

Issei nodded grimly, his expression serious. "Yes, Koneko. Your master was conducting experiments to enhance demonic powers artificially, pushing the limits of what was considered safe or ethical," he explained.

Koneko's fists clenched at her sides, her nails digging into her palms. "I... I had no idea," she admitted, her voice trembling.

"Your sister, on the other hand, did; in fact, she was the one he experimented on the most. I'd assume the genes of a Nekomata and the ability to use Senjutsu was his bread and butter to achieve the results he desired", Issei articulates.

Koneko stood frozen, the weight of Issei's words sinking in. Her mind raced, processing the shocking revelation about her former master's sinister experiments. The thought that her sister had been unknowingly subjected to such cruelty left her feeling a mix of anger, betrayal, and deep sorrow.

Issei watched her closely, his expression softening slightly with empathy. He could only imagine the turmoil Koneko must be feeling, confronting the truth about her past in such a stark manner.

Issei then leaned against the table, "It doesn't end there", he stated. "Obviously, he couldn't create Super Devils as he hit a bump in the road. He knew that he needed another test subject, another Nekomata, to be precise," he continues.

Koneko's eyes widened at Issei's revelation, her heart sinking further at the implications. "Another Nekomata... you mean... me?" she whispered, her voice trembling with fear and disbelief.

Issei nodded solemnly, "When Kuroka learnt of his plan, she proceeded to slaughter your former master and anyone associated with him, all to protect you", he revealed.

"You were told that your sister became crazy on Senjutsu and killed her former master and everyone else in an uncontrollable rage, but that was far from the truth. And you've been under that impression for a very long time," he continued.

Koneko's world shattered around her as Issei's words tore through the carefully constructed illusion she had lived with for so long. Tears welled up in her eyes, blurring her vision as she shook her head in denial.

"No... no, you're lying!" she choked out, her voice breaking with anguish. "Kuroka... she... she couldn't have..."

Issei's expression remained resolute as he watched Koneko's emotional turmoil unfold. He knew confronting the truth would be painful for her, but it was necessary for her healing and growth.

"If you won't believe it out of my mouth, then there's someone who can tell you the same thing and even more," Issei says as he points to the lab entrance.

Koneko, with tears still in her eyes, turned her head to see what Issei was pointing at. She saw her elder sister, Kuroka, on the verge of breaking down.

"Shirone..." Kuroka muttered in a downcast tone.

"Big sister..." Koneko whispered, her voice barely above a hoarse whisper. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she took hesitant steps towards Kuroka, her legs feeling like they might give out beneath her.

"Shirone..." Kuroka repeated softly, her voice cracking with emotion. "I'm so sorry..."

"Is it the truth? Is what Issei telling the truth?" Koneko demanded, tears rolling down her face.

Kuroka's eyes filled with tears as she looked at her younger sister, her heart breaking at the pain evident in Koneko's tear-streaked face.

She nodded slowly, her voice barely a whisper. "Yes, Shirone... it's true," she admitted, her voice trembling with guilt and remorse.

Koneko staggered forward, her legs feeling weak beneath her as she closed the distance between them. "Why... why didn't you tell me?" she choked out, her voice thick with sorrow and hurt. "I... I thought you..."

Kuroka's shoulders shook with silent sobs as she wrapped her arms around Koneko, pulling her into a tight embrace. "I wanted to protect you, Shirone. I couldn't bear for you to know the truth... to know what he did to us," she confessed, her voice raw with emotion.

Koneko squeezed Kuroka's hands, a tear rolling down her cheek. "Why did you leave me behind? Why didn't you take me with you?" she asked, her voice filled with years of buried hurt and longing.

Kuroka's expression softened, pain flickering in her eyes. "I thought it was for the best, Shirone. I had to protect you, even if it meant leaving you behind; if I had taken you with me, you would've been hunted down as well," she explained, her voice barely above a whisper.

Koneko trembled in Kuroka's embrace, her heart torn between relief at finally knowing the truth and the lingering pain of years spent in ignorance. She buried her face against Kuroka's shoulder, tears flowing freely as she struggled to come to terms with everything she had just learned.

"Protect me?" Koneko whispered hoarsely, her voice muffled against Kuroka's clothing. "When they found me, the higher-ups wanted to kill me just because I was related to you! If it weren't for Lord Sirzechs, I would've been executed!" she says as she openly sobs,

Kuroka's arms tightened around Koneko, her tears mixing with her sister's as the weight of their shared pain and suffering enveloped them both. "I... I didn't know, Shirone," she murmured, her voice thick with regret. "I never wanted any of this for you... but I knew how the Gremory's treat their servants and was confident you'd live a better life."

Koneko pulled back slightly, looking into Kuroka's eyes with anguish and longing. "I was so alone... so scared," she admitted, her voice trembling with vulnerability. "I thought you didn't care about me anymore..."

Kuroka's heart shattered at Koneko's words, her hands cupping Koneko's face gently. "I never stopped caring, Shirone," she whispered, her voice filled with sincerity. "You're my little sister, and I love you more than anything."

Tears continued to flow down Koneko's cheeks, her breath hitching as years of emotional turmoil finally found release. She wrapped her arms around Kuroka again, holding onto her sister as if afraid she might disappear again.

"I'm sorry, Shirone," Kuroka murmured, her voice trembling. "I'm sorry for everything you had to go through because of me."

After a few moments, Koneko pulled back from Kuroka's embrace, wiping tears from her eyes. "I want to know everything," she declared, her voice steady despite the lingering sadness. "About our past, about our family... everything."

Kuroka nodded, her resolve firming as she met Koneko's gaze. "I'll tell you everything, Shirone," she promised. "We'll start from the beginning, and I'll never hide anything from you again."

The two hugged each other, embracing their pain and love for the other. Kuroka, still hugging Koneko, looked towards Issei. Kuroka mouthed a silent 'thank you', to which, in response, Issei nodded understandingly.

Issei decided to leave the sisters to their own and wandered through the research lab to look for information. He stood before a bookshelf that hid another hidden passageway; he pulled the bookshelf off and revealed another passageway.

Issei walked down the hallway to a more specialised and advanced lab; he saw all the technology and documents.

"How interesting", he muttered as he snapped his fingers.

[Ability Used: Pocket Dimension Manipulation: Portal Creation]

Instantly, a giant portal materialised on the floor, swallowing all the room's contents. He also held the book he found and dropped it into the portal. All the objects that were swallowed by the portal were transferred to his dimension.

"I wonder how the elemental sprites are fairing with the construction of my dimension", he wonders out loud before looking at his watch. "Looks like it's almost time to meet up with the Phenex Family. he mutters.

[Ability Used: Rift]

Issei has opened a rift to the Phenex Castle and entered it, leaving Koneko and Kuroka to themselves and an empty room behind.

X

Issei appeared on the other side of the rift, looking ahead and seeing the pathway that led to the Phenex Castle—the path lined with trees with flame-like leaves.

Issei walked forward, the rift behind him closed, sealing space-time back together. As he walked, he reminisced about his last time here.

"I was a completely different person, and for a different reason," he says to himself, remembering he was here because Riser had developed a fear of Dragons from their second fight.

He took the castle's exterior, remembering what was much larger than the Gremory Castle and even his own since he had no servants and was only occupied by himself.

He made his way to the front entrance and was greeted by none other than Ravel.

"Took you long enough!" she exclaims in her usual tone.

Issei chuckled at her greetings, "I had other things to do before I got here", he explained. "How'd you get here?"

Ravel huffs, "I took the train to the Underworld", she answers.

"Ah, I see. I just used Rift to get here," Issei replies.

Hearing Issei's words, Ravel frowns. "Issei, it's illegal to travel to the Underworld via space-time unless authorised by a Satan", she scolds.

Shrugging his shoulders unbothered, Issei responds, "So I've been told," he replied nonchalantly.

Ravel sighed, shaking her head at Issei's nonchalance. "You really should be more careful. The last thing we need is you getting into trouble with the authorities," she chided gently.

"Well, you're here now. Come on, the family is waiting for you inside," she continued, turning on her heel and leading him through the grand entrance of the castle.

As they walked through the ornate hallways of the Phenex Castle, Issei couldn't help but notice the subtle changes since his last visit. The castle seemed more vibrant, and the Phenex family's presence was felt strongly throughout the decor, with motifs of flames and birds of fire adorning the walls and ceilings.

Ravel led Issei to a large, opulent room where the Phenex family had gathered. Lord Phenex, Lady Phenex, and Ravel's older brothers, Ruval and Riser, were all present, their expressions varying from curiosity to cautious optimism.

"Issei Hyoudou, it's good to see you again," Lord Phenex greeted, his voice conveying genuine respect.

"Likewise, Lord Phenex," Issei replied, inclining his head slightly in acknowledgment.

Lord Phenex chuckled slightly, "Please, call me Reynald." he urged politely.

Issei smiled warmly, "Well, if you insist, Reynald", he replied similarly.

Lady Phenex approached with a gracious smile, her eyes reflecting warmth and kindness. "Welcome, Issei. It's been some time since we last saw you," she greeted, extending her hand.

Issei shook her hand gently. "Thank you, Lady Phenex. It's an honour to be here."

Like her husband, Lady Phenex lets out a small chuckle, "Like my husband, please roll me, Rosalind", she informs.

"Consider it done, Rosalind," Issei replies.

Ruval Phenex, the eldest of the Phenex siblings, stepped forward next. He was tall and dignified, exuding a calm and collected aura. "Issei, it's good to see you," he said, extending his hand. "Your reputation has certainly grown since we last met."

Issei shook Ruval's hand firmly. "Thank you, Ruval. It's good to see you too."

Finally, Riser Phenex approached. "Issei," Riser greeted, nodding with a mix of respect and familiarity. "I'm glad you could make it."

Issei returned the nod. "Riser, good to see you," he replied.

Ravel stood beside her parents, her usual confident demeanour tempered by a hint of formality. "Issei, please have a seat. We have much to discuss," she said, gesturing to a comfortable-looking chair.

Rosalind was the first to speak, "Before we start with the main discussion, I must apologise to you, Issei. I learnt that the last time we spoke to each other caused a rift between you and Rias Gremory, and for that, I deeply apologise," she said solemnly with her head bowed towards Issei.

Issei has flashbacks to that day, Rias's overreaction and ostracisation at the ORC's hands. In truth, he is grateful for that day and the following day when he was ambushed and almost killed. Had he not gone through those events, he wouldn't have become the person he is today.

Issei smiled reassuringly, "Please, Rosalind, you are not at fault. It was just miscommunication and overreaction from myself and Rias", he replied.

Rosalind looked relieved at Issei's reassuring words and nodded with gratitude. "Thank you, Issei. I appreciate your understanding. Now, let's move on to the matters at hand," she said, taking her seat.

Reynald spoke next; his tone was serious yet welcoming. "Issei, we have been impressed by your recent actions and the power you've demonstrated. As a family that values strength and unity, we believe there is potential for a mutually beneficial alliance between us."

Issei leaned forward slightly, intrigued. "An alliance? I'm interested to hear more."

Ruval, the eldest son, spoke up next. "Given the current state of the Underworld and the various threats we face, we believe that forming strong alliances is crucial. Your abilities and reputation have made you a key player, and we think an alliance would strengthen both our families."

Issei considered their words carefully. "What exactly would this alliance entail?"

Reynald explained, "We propose a formal agreement that includes mutual support in times of crisis, shared resources, and joint training sessions. Additionally, we believe it would be beneficial to engage in collaborative projects that could enhance our collective influence and power."

Issei nodded thoughtfully, taking in Reynald's proposal. The idea of a formal alliance with the Phenex family certainly had its appeal. Their resources and influence, combined with his unique abilities and power, could create a formidable force.

Ravel, listening intently, leaned forward; she knew the true reason for this alliance with Issei. After the events of the invasion, it became clear that the Underworld had people who'd step on others to raise themselves up.

The Phenex family knew exactly who these people were; having Issei as an ally meant protection from said people. Issei's existence flipped the scales of power, and the Phenex family knew by being on his side that they were guaranteed protection. They understood they couldn't rely on the current protection of the Underworld; having someone like Issei, who is essentially a one-person army, was beneficial to them.

Rosalind cleared her throat, drawing Issei's attention. "Issei, beyond the obvious benefits of shared strength and resources, there's another reason we're keen on this alliance," she began, her voice steady but carrying an undertone of urgency. "The recent events have shown us that the Underworld is not as stable as we once believed. There are factions and individuals who would use any opportunity to advance their own agendas, often at the expense of others."

Ruval nodded in agreement with his mother's statement. "The balance of power in the Underworld is precarious. There are those who see your rise as both a threat and an opportunity. By forming an alliance with you, we can ensure mutual protection and support against these factions," he explained, his tone grave.

Issei absorbed their words, understanding the deeper implications of the proposed alliance. The Phenex family sought more than just strength in numbers; they sought stability and protection in an increasingly volatile world.

"I see," Issei said, his voice thoughtful. "Well, I don't see any downsides for either of us. What are the requirements to make the alliance between myself and your family?" he asked.

Rosalind and Reynald exchanged a glance before Reynald spoke up. "Issei, our family believes strongly in the bonds of marriage as a way to solidify alliances. To that end, we propose that you consider taking Ravel as one of your brides," he said, his voice steady and confident.

Issei was momentarily taken aback; he looked over at Ravel, who met his gaze with determination and nervousness, a blush on her face.

"Well, I have no problem with it; Ravel is a lovely young lady with many talents. Anyone would be fortunate to have her as a partner; however, at the end of the day, it's Ravel's choice, and I wouldn't want to force Ravel to do something that she doesn't feel comfortable with," he replies.

Ravel felt her cheeks flush even deeper at Issei's words, appreciating his respect for her feelings.

Issei sighed, "Besides, it'd be quite bothersome for someone to intrude on the wedding ceremony and ask to fight me over Ravel," he replied. "Isn't that right, Riser?" he asks, his gaze meeting Riser's.

Riser couldn't help but chuckle at Issei's remark, a hint of embarrassment colouring his features. "Yes, that would indeed be bothersome," he admitted, shaking his head with a small smile.

Ravel, though still blushing, smiled at Issei. "Thank you for considering my feelings, Issei. This alliance means a lot to my family, and I understand the importance of strengthening our bonds. I am willing to be part of this alliance, not just for the benefit of our families but because I respect and admire you," she said, her voice filled with sincerity.

Issei nodded, appreciating Ravel's willingness and their mutual respect. "Alright then, if Ravel is agreeable, I accept this proposal," he said, his tone firm yet kind.

Reynald's expression softened with gratitude. "Thank you, Issei. We appreciate your understanding and your willingness to join our families."

Issei then remembered a topic that he wished to discuss, and he knew that this was a perfect opportunity to do so, "If may, there's something which I would like to discuss with you. It's something off-topic from what we were initially talking about", he asked.

Reynald nodded, gesturing for Issei to continue. "Of course, Issei. Feel free to speak your mind," he said, his tone open and inviting.

Issei then leaned forward, "I assume that you've been briefed about the events on Saturday and how the members of the Hero Faction were using Phoenix Tears?" he asked.

The family exchanged knowing glances, "Yes, we informed." Reynald states firmly. "We aren't sure how they got their hands on our family products, but from what the Former Governor Azazel mentioned, he said that these Phoenix Tears were modified", he finishes with uncertainty.

Issei nodded in confirmation before creating a portal to his pocket dimension. He pulled out a nearly empty vial, placing it on the table for everyone to see. This is the same vial that Issei had picked from Cao Cao's headless corpse.

"I picked this up from Cao Cao's corpse after our fight finished", he explains. "But as Azazel had mentioned, these Phoenix Tears were modified, enhanced if you will".

Ruval raised an eyebrow at Issei's last statement, "Enhanced?" and asked for clarification.

Issei nodded in confirmation, "Yes, enhanced. These Phoenix Tears seem to give the consumer a mock regeneration, enough to regrow organs and a boost in power. What determines the amount of boost in power is how much damage they take prior to consuming the elixir", he explained.

"If the consumer suffers a little amount of damage before consuming, then they receive a low boost in power. And if the consumer suffers a large amount of damage before consuming, then they receive a large boost in power. Although that is through speculation from what I observed between Cao Cao and Georg, who both consumed this," he says, tapping his finger on the vial's cap.

Reynald and his family listened intently as Issei explained the properties of the modified Phoenix Tears. They exchanged concerned glances, realising the implications of such a powerful substance being used by the Hero Faction.

"This is concerning," Reynald remarked, his voice measured. "The idea that someone has modified our Phoenix Tears to enhance their effects... That could pose a significant threat if it falls into the wrong hands."

Rosalind furrowed her brow, contemplating the implications. "Recently, Mephisto Pheles had revealed that someone was mass producing artificial Phoenix Tears. Could this be it?" she asked, her tone reflecting concern for their family's reputation and the safety of their products.

"I haven't personally encountered these artificial Phoenix Tears yet, but if they're related to what I found on Cao Cao and Georg, then it's likely they're part of the same problem," Issei replied, his voice reflecting his concern. "The fact that they can enhance power and simulate regeneration could make them incredibly sought after by individuals or factions looking to gain an edge."

Ruval crossed his arms thoughtfully; his brow furrowed in deep contemplation. "The Hero Faction's use of these enhanced tears suggests a sophisticated understanding of alchemy or magical enhancement. It's not something that could be done without considerable knowledge and resources," he speculated aloud.

Riser leaned forward, his expression grave. "Issei, do you have any leads on who might be behind this?" he asked, his tone indicating his readiness to take action.

Issei shook his head regretfully. "Unfortunately, I don't have concrete evidence yet," he replied.

Ravel, who had been quietly listening, spoke up with a determined look in her eyes. "We must investigate this further. If our family's products are being misused or counterfeited, it could tarnish our reputation and endanger lives," she said, her voice firm and resolute.

Reynald nodded in agreement, his expression grave. "Agreed. Issei, we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. It's crucial that we take immediate steps to address this threat," he said, his tone decisive.

Issei nodded in acknowledgment, grateful for their understanding and readiness to take action. "I'll do everything I can to assist in the investigation," he assured them, his commitment clear.

Rosalind looked at Issei with a mixture of gratitude and concern. "Thank you, Issei. Your involvement will be invaluable in uncovering the truth behind these modified tears," she said sincerely.

As the meeting drew close, Issei and Ravel took their leave from the Phenex Castle. As Ravel led him through the castle halls, he looked at the art canvases on the walls; one caught his attention enough for him to stop moving and stare at the portrait.

Feeling that Issei had stopped, Ravel turned around to see what had happened; she saw Issei staring at her family portrait, which was painted instead of photographed. The reason why this caught Issei's attention was because of the sixth member, which he hadn't met yet. The boy was quite frail and sick-looking as if a gust of wind would knock him over.

"That's right; Ravel had another older brother—the second eldest child of the Phenex Family. I have never met him before, nor have I heard anyone talk about him," Issei thinks.

Issei then sees Ravel's attention on him and decides to ask, "Who's he?" he asks, pointing at the frail-looking boy.

As Ravel saw what Issei was pointing at, he could feel the melancholy rolling off Ravel as if it were a sensitive subject.

"Listen, if you don't want to say it, it's fi-" Issei replies before Ravel cuts him off.

"No, no. It's alright; since you are going to become a part of the family, it's only right for you to know," Ravel starts. "That is my elder brother, Rylan," she says.

Issei's momentarily widened, remembering he had heard that name once. But it wasn't from either the Phenex family or anyone else. He remembered what Shalba shouted when Issei chased him across the artificial dimension on Saturday.

"Rizeviem! Euclid! Rylan! Someone! Please! Save me!" Shalba screamed desperately.

"Could Shalba have been talking about this, Rylan? Did Ravel's brother join the Khaos Brigade? Why? For what motive could he have had? Shalba disposed of that Diodara brat for being a nuisance; what place does this frail boy have in the Khaos Brigade? Power? And who are the other names Shalba mentioned?" Issei thought, and he decided to answer further.

"How come I never see him around," he asked Ravel.

Ravel sighed softly, her gaze lingering on the portrait of her frail older brother, Rylan, before turning back to Issei. "Rylan... he's not around much," she began slowly, choosing her words with care. "He's been ill for most of his life since he was very young. It's a rare condition that affects his health severely."

Issei nodded, understanding the gravity of Ravel's explanation. "I see... I'm sorry to hear that," he replied sincerely, a sense of empathy evident in his voice.

Ravel smiled faintly, appreciating Issei's understanding. "Thank you, Issei. It's been challenging for our family, especially for my parents," she admitted, her expression reflecting a mixture of sadness and resilience. "Rylan's condition is similar to Sairaorg's; he was born 'defective', as the higher-ups put it", she explained with a bit of venom at the end.

"His ability to use Hellfire and Regeneration was subpar, and his demonic power and magic aptitude were also low. On top of that, his body wasn't made for combat," she states. "Because my elder brother, Ruval, was being married into another family, the title of clan heir was shifted onto Rylan. However, the Devil Council saw him as inadequate and forced our parents to shift the title onto Riser", she continues.

"Rylan blamed my parents for not standing up for him, and he distanced himself from us; I haven't seen him in over eight years", she finished dejectedly.

"I'm sorry, Ravel," Issei said softly, his tone filled with sympathy. "It must have been incredibly hard for all of you, especially Rylan."

Ravel nodded, her gaze drifting back to the portrait of her brother. "It was... and still is," she admitted quietly. "Rylan's resentment towards our family runs deep. He felt betrayed, abandoned... and he chose to distance himself rather than confront those feelings."

Issei affectionately placed his hand on Ravel's head and ruffled it to cheer her up. Meanwhile, he had his own thoughts on Rylan.

"Being born weak and then becoming an outcast of the family is more than enough motive to join a terrorist organisation. But I can't throw around baseless accusations without proof; it'll only look bad on my part," he thought.

Ravel glanced up at Issei, surprised by his affectionate gesture but appreciative of the comfort it offered. She smiled softly, feeling a sense of warmth from Issei's genuine concern.

X

Issei had left the Phenex Castle and the Underworld entirely, now back in Kuoh Town. Because his dimension is still under construction, he had to get an apartment to stay in for the night.

It was now evening in Kuoh, and Azazel and Issei were talking on the phone.

"Don't go in my dimension until I say so; it's currently under construction", Issei says.

"Oh? Construction? What exactly are you building?" Azazel asked, a bit curious.

"Well, if I told you, then what kind of surprise would it be?" Issei answers cryptically.

Azazel huffs, "Well, whatever it is, it better be good", he replies. "Hey, if you aren't in your dimension, where are you staying for the night?" he asked, a bit concerned.

Issei looked out of the apartment window, admiring the view from the height, "I'm renting an apartment for the night", he answered.

Hearing this, Azazel chuckled, "And pray to tell, why not stay at the Hyoudou Residence?" he asked, practically smiling through the phone.

Issei sighs in annoyance, "You know exactly why..." he answers, referring to Rias.

Azazel chuckled softly, understanding the unspoken tension between Issei and Rias. "Ah, yes, that would complicate things," he replied knowingly. "I heard you came close to revealing your secret relationship with Rossweisse today?"

Issi chuckled, "Yeah, it was quite the save", he replied.

"Rias may start growing grey hairs soon..." Azazel replied jovially.

"Uh huh, anyways, I have things to do, farewell", Issei says as he ends the phone call.

Issei then sits on his bed and leans back onto the mattress, taking in the events of the day.

"Some much information in one day..." he mutters.
