Prologue: Sealed
Gao Tallah, a middle-aged man with short brown hair and brown eyes looked up and smiled. (We did it.) Gao thought. (The evil that ravaged our planet Valtelia has been sealed in our Soul Barrier.) His old white lab coat was stained with blood and sweat covered his body. He stumbled in pure exhaustion wearing his worn out small black shoes filled with holes.
One of Gao's three partners, a woman with blond hair and blue eyes, smiled at Gao. Her name was Pam Williams, and she wore an outfit similar in appearance to Gao.
Pam slowly walked over and hugged Gao. It wasn't the kind of hug you give a lover, or family member, but to a friend; a friend you've known for just a short time in your life who helped you overcome an obstacle that once felt like it could never be done.
Pam sighed in relief as tears fell, not out of sadness, but out of joy. Finally, after three years of frantic labor, their hard work paid off.
"We did it," gasped out Gao. "Somehow we did it." He shook hands with short young male scientist half his age named Kazuki Mae. Kazuki's long black hair settled on his back. His black eyes stared at his friend as they shook hands. He wore an outfit similar in appearance to Gao as well.
"Our sacrifices were not in vain," cried Pam as she wiped away a tear. "At least those who died can rest easy knowing that monster is sealed away forever in our Soul Barrier."
"I'm so glad," yelled Kazuki as he stopped shaking hands with Gao. "We stopped him," as he was tackled by his lover. Her red hair was tied into a ponytail. Her red eyes stared into her lover's eyes as she kissed him. Her name was June Henderson. She wore an outfit similar in appearance to Kazuki.
"I'm so happy," gushed June as she embraced her lover. She saw Gao and Pam walked over to her and Kazuki. "All of our hard work paid off," as she was swept away in quick romantic bliss.
June was so overcome with happiness; one could feel the joy radiating out of her. In their celebrations the four scientists looked outside as they caught a glimpse of their world Valtelia, and the grim reality of their plight slapped some sense back onto them.
As Gao, Pam, Kazuki, and June saw the vile poison inch closer. Their smiles faded as their deaths inched ever closer.
They pulled off the impossible and stopped the evil they had once nicknamed {The Fiery Soul} by sealing him away, but that was it. Nothing could stop the poison from snuffing out the last few thousand lives remaining. On their now mostly empty poisoned dead filled world of Valtelia. June found the energy to walk to her console and began to record several readings.
"All the readings are perfect," laughed June with a smile as she brushed her red hair out of her eyes. "Our enemy has been…" An alarm sounded, and the young woman frantically worked several consoles nearly running over Pam in the process.
"Our Soul Barrier," yelled Gao as he worked quickly.
"Damn," shouted Kazuki. "Damn it all to hell." He quickly became absorbed in his work. He turned to Pam, nodded, and looked back at the console he was at.
"Done," sighed Pam, and she slumped her shoulders. "I stopped our enemy from breaking free from our Soul Barrier." She trembled. "But the seal…It's been weakened, and he may be able to use some powers still," as she raged. "Additionally, in a few hundred billion years he'll have the strength to escape. "Well so much for the permanent seal. We failed."
"Quick Gao," shouted Kazuki. "Make the recording. Perhaps the last hope of our universe is someone from the future stopping the evil that engulfed our world Valtelia," as he worked. "Our people, our race, and our entire history." Gao ran over to a large computer, sat down, and began typing at furious speeds.
"I'll reinforce the structure, and buy us all the time we can get," yelled out June," as she wiped away a tear. "We came this far now. We need that message sent," as she nodded at Kazuki. "That poison needs to be stopped even if for a short time."
"I'll help, June," added Pam. She joined her friend as Gao hit another button and he looked at a camera…
"To whomever this may concern," Gao began. "My name is Gao Tallah. I am one of the last of my people…"
