A/N: KagamiPINKAgreste was on my mind lately, and I wanted to write a little something for her as a reward for being the best girlfriend ever.

It was a sunny day in Emerald City, and Shadow the Hedgehog parked his black 1970 Trans Am in front of Amy Rose's house. He could tell that her and her father Douglas were home because of the cars in the driveway: a pink 1971 VW Beetle cabriolet and a dark green 1975 Ford LTD Country Squire. After killing the engine, Shadow headed up to the front door and rang the doorbell. Shortly thereafter, Douglas – a red hedgehog with blue eyes and spines styled just like Sonic's – answered the door.

"Well, good afternoon, Shadow! How are you doing today?"

Shadow nodded. "I'm doing well. And how are you, Mr. Rose?"

"Please, call me 'Douglas', or 'Doug' if you prefer! You're as much a family member now as my little Amy is! Anyways, we're doing fine."

"Right. May I please come in?"

"Please, make yourself at home!"

Shadow stepped inside, and Douglas closed the door behind him.

"So, what's on your mind?" asked Douglas.

"First of all, I wanted to check up on you, see how you were doing after Amy's mom's…that is, your wife's death."

Douglas sighed. "Well, it hasn't always been easy. As much of a handful as Petunia could be sometimes, I loved her very much, and she made family time fun. Still, I'm doing the best that I can."

Shadow nodded. "Sometimes, that's all you can do. Still, if you need any help, Rouge and I are always here for you, as are Sonic and Tails. Amy's been really good to us, and we want to return that favor to her, and by extension you."

"Thanks, Shadow! That's really kind of you! I can tell you and Amy are going to have a happy family of your own!"

Shadow smiled. "You're welcome, Douglas. Now then, is Amy home? I wanted to see her."

"She is. Let me call up to her…" Douglas went upstairs. "Amy, Shadow's here to see you!"

"Coming, Daddy!"

Douglas came downstairs, and shortly thereafter, Amy rushed downstairs.

"SHADDY!"

Shadow smiled. "Hey, Amy!"

Shadow and Amy went up to each other and gave each other a big hug and kiss. They remained in the embrace for at least half a minute before letting go.

"So, what brings you here today?" asked Amy.

Shadow smiled. "Oh, I was just thinking about you today, and I wanted to pay you a visit. Mind if we go up to your room?"

"Not at all!"

Amy led Shadow up to her room, which was just as pink and girly as ever, what with the the pink wallpaper with red hearts, the random pop idol posters, the random plush toys and the blanket on her bed, which was red with pink and white hearts. They sat down on the edge of the bed next to each other.

"So, what's on your mind, Shaddy?"

Shadow put his hand on Amy's shoulder. "Amy, I've been thinking about you lately, about us, and I wanted to thank you for every single thing you've ever done for me. You've not only given me a lifetime's worth of happiness, but you made me believe in love. I also wanted to let you know how proud I am of you for the way you've handled various setbacks in your life, especially your mom's death. I don't know exactly how you feel about it, but I'll always be here for you just as you've been here for me. You're the best girlfriend I've ever had, and I wouldn't trade you for anybody else."

Shadow smiled, while Amy put her hands over her mouth, trying to absorb what he said to her as best as she could:

"Shaddy, that…that's the sweetest thing you've ever said to me! You're the best boyfriend EVER!"

Amy and Shadow wrapped their arms around each other and kissed each other. For Shadow, this was the culmination of months of trying to deal with past trauma and accept himself for who he was, not to mention trying to find love in a world of people who feared and hated him just because of what they thought he was. Ever since that time she had accidentally glomped him thinking that he was Sonic, all he could think about was wanting to get to know her better, to show her that he appreciated what she did for him and also to give her a chance to be happy. In doing so, she gave him a chance to be happy as well. Never had he imagined that his lucky color would be that hot shade of pink, but he wouldn't have had it any other way.

For Amy, this was a chance to stop chasing around someone who would never ground himself to her and to finally find true love with someone who not only understood her, but would gladly share every precious moment with her. With every second she spent in his arms, every second she felt his lips against hers, she'd completely forgotten about how bad she felt for being foolish enough to obsessively pursue Sonic, and instead thought about how wonderful it was that she found a guy like Shadow, who not only took in her love and used it to heal himself, but offered her some of his own healing when she needed it. In sickness and in health, this was the guy she wanted. Eventually, they broke away from the kiss, but kept their arms wrapped around each other as Amy rested her head against Shadow.

"Amy, I could never leave you for anyone else. You're the only one for me."

"Awww, you're so sweet, Shaddy! I love you too!"

Shadow and Amy remained locked in their sweet embrace, yet another happy moment in the lives of two people who were made for each other.
