Kagome ran back as fast as she could. Damn, all these damn demons!
She was sick of everyone telling her to sit down and be quiet. She was sick of him playing games with her head. She was sick of people dying for her when she was capable of fighting not only for herself but for them. Isn't that what the mate of the West was supposed to do? What did he think would happen?
She didnt even have time to be happy about being with child. Of course, she doubted that love was the reason it was growing inside her. Knowing him he would take it away once it was born, hell, he was sure cruel enough. She was just his last resort.
This was stupid. War was stupid.
Kagome ran back into the battlefield. Blood drenched the ground and though the grass may been thirsty, this blood only brought death.
Then a loud clatter in the sky had her looking up. But she was no fool, though many thought she was. Her barrier kept those of ill intent away.
"No!" She gasped as she saw a dragon pierce the chest of Lord Tashio. The large powerful dog fell from the sky, back first. Kagome ran to him, but then a woman appeared and cradled his head in her lap.
It was Sesshomaru's mother.
She looked calm and collected, much like her son. But the dog demon was dying.
"I can-"
His mother's eyes shot up at hers, "Why are you here,"
"Why does everyone keep asking me that!" She yelled,
"You carry our house inside you, leave this place!"
"Im not leaving, I can heal him,"
"No Kagome," He breathed,
Kagome quickly knelt and they grabbed each other's hands, "Inu Papa,"
"Go,"
"But I can help you,"
He smiled at her, blood seeping from his nose, ears, and mouth, "To heal me, would be to kill him," He pointed at her tummy,
Tears formed in her eyes, she knew they would not let her heal him and he was too weak to heal himself. He was going to die.
Kagome looked up at the woman,
"Leave Miko, I will do what I can,"
Kagome slowly stood up, his blood now all over her.
She looked every which way "This is my fault too,"
"No," He coughed, "No," He said again,
"Go now, Miko!" The woman yelled her eyes going red with anger.
Kagome backed up.
"Naraku," She whispered and looked around "Where is Sesshomaru," She asked herself.
Her father-in-law reached out as if to suddenly stop her, but Kagome was gone and his hand fell into the dirt.
Tears formed as she saw the death. She felt like it was all her fault. Maybe if she had been quiet. Maybe if she had listened.
Did it matter what she did?
Kagome felt her mate, a pulse told her he was close, but a cold feeling told her something was wrong.
She came to a high point and stopped she she saw Kikyo and Inuyasha, both bloody, both tired. Inuyasha had his head against hers "Kikyo," He whispered.
She was dying too?
Inuyasha paid her no mind.
Kagome closed her eyes and walked calmly to the main point of the ridge.
She looked down and scanned the area till she found him.
He was fighting with one blade, his other arm was missing and blood stained his clothes.
There was strange magic, she felt it on Kikyo and down on the field.
"Naraku," She whispered,
Kikyo snapped her eyes open and turned her head towards Kagome.
"No," Kikyo whispered, but it was too late.
Kagome was glowing, she backed up, ready to run right off the edge.
Kikyo moved, twisting in her lover's lap. With what power she had left she lunged for Kagome, but it was too late. Kagome ran jumped and brought all the power in her hands together and a power no one ever knew rolled over the dark blood stained ground and grey sky.
Everything went silent.
She sacrificed the one thing she wanted most in life because she loved him.
They warned her, but she didnt listen and now that it was gone, she had nothing else to lose. Her 9 lives were up, what life was left flew out of her fingertips and she fell out of the sky.
They told her she could never have a baby, especially with him. He told to her to take the vow, but did she ever listen to him? No. In the end, they were right, she was wrong, and her power won over her wants. She never ruled her own life. Why was she born with such a curse?
Why did she have to love him? He never wanted her love. Demanded she do her duty so that he wouldn't be stuck with her.
Well, now he was free.
Her hands fell to her flat tummy as they fell. "Im sorry," She whispered to the baby, "But give mommy a moment and we will be together," Her eyes closed and everything went dark. Two hearts stopped beating and it brought him the great demon Lord to his knees in a way no battle ever could.
