Story: Luffy grows up in Marineford. This changes things—a lot. Sengoku is convinced she should've been a pirate and Garp is just so damn happy and proud. She's got three Admirals as over-the-top dads, a pirate Sir courting her, and a chain-smoking handsome best friend. Now that she's finally set sail, regardless of rank and being enlisted, Luffy will make sure she (and her crew!) will be roaming the seas freely and spreading Liberated Justice, no matter what any old geezers tell her. She may have ended up a Marine, but she still wants the One Piece and to be called the Pirate King!
Set as an AU genderbending fic, canon-rewrite.
Spoilers: Probably the whole series, at least up to Wano.
Warnings: Age disparity, canon violence, cursing and sexual situations…

Luffy the Pirate Queen
Chapter Three: Chore Boy

"B-but why?" Koby's jaw dropped.

The pretty Marine Commodore (and oh, wasn't that a freaking surprise) tilted her head and hummed.

"'Cause I said so," she shrugged and threw the finished pork bone over her shoulder, where the huge man beside her reached out and touched it, only for it to…disappear?

In any case, Koby continued to gape at Luffy (Commodore Luffelia?) as she somehow had another piece of meat to feast on.

"I speak 'Luffy'," a man interrupted, looking completely deadpan. Speak… 'Luffy'? "That is, Commodore Luffelia means that she doesn't want a scrawny coward to join."

Luffy blinked at the man. "Huh. Pretty much, Rokka."

'Rokka' flushed and frowned. "It's Lieutenant Junior Grade Rokkaku, Ma'am!"

She waved him off. "Too long!"

Koby stared at them in despair. But he really…he really, really wanted to be a Marine.

"I'll do anything!" he burst out. "Just please let me be a Marine!"

That caught their attention and Luffy scrutinized him with a hard look. Even the sleeping man on her lap seemed to wake up and vaguely lifted his sleeping mask to pay attention.

"What's it to you, scaredy-cat?"

His cheeks darkened. "I-I know I get scared easily! A-and that I-I can't lift things or do m-much now…but it's always been my dream to be a Marine! Even though Alvida forced me to be her cabin boy for two years, I never stopped thinking about that!" Thankfully, towards the end, his voice strengthened and he stopped stuttering so much.

"Is that so?" Luffy looked him up and down thoughtfully, eyes hard. "You were probably too scared to run away, right? But then how'd you get forced onto her crew?"

Koby flinched, wanting to crawl into a hole for this admittance. "…I was going onto a ship for a fishing trip and boarded the wrong ship…"

Luffy burst out laughing, dislodging Admiral Aokiji from her lap as she ended up into body-shaking, uncontrollable laughter.

"Shishishishishi! That's so dumb!"

Which, yeah, fair. Of all the stupid things he could've done, Koby really wished he had paid better attention.

"Mistakes like that can cost lives."

He flinched and saw Admiral Aokiji sitting up and looking at him sternly, sleeping mask raised. He started to cower, hunching over, only for Luffy to suddenly be by him and smack the middle of his back.

"Back straight and chin up! Don't be a scaredy-cat!" she said cheerfully, but even as she said it like that, her dark eyes —the color of onyx became pitch black and almost like empty voids. He inwardly shivered but refused outwardly, like he knew she would want him to.

"I-I know that and that's why I won't ever make that kind of mistake ever again!" he swore determinedly.

He held still, frozen under the combined stare of this group. But then Luffy nodded and swung an arm around him (wait, was it stretching around him windingly?!) and pulled him after her. She swung him in the direction of Rokka —Rokkaku? Lieutenant Junior Grade Rokkaku?

"He's all yours, Rok! Take care of the scaredy-cat, okay? He's gonna be our first Chore Boy! Scaredy-cat, put that determination into full gear if you really wanna be a Marine!"

Rokkaku looked at Luffy in dismay, even as he reluctantly took hold of Koby. "Yes…Ma'am."

Even with his new superior reluctantly taking him on, Koby felt ecstatic and thought he could finally fulfill his dream of being a Marine!

"You sure about that?"

Luffy looked over to Kuzan curiously. "Sure, why not? It's his dream and he's determined about it —no one can take away anyone's dreams, if you ask me, and if he is really serious about it…"

Kuzan shrugged. "Alright then. It's fine by me if you want to take him in."

"Perhaps now we can continue our journey to Dawn Island?" Kuma interrupted and Luffy remembered just what they were supposed to do.

"Eh, yeah, I guess. Gramps is probably impatiently waiting for us," she grumbled, though she was amused to see Kuzan actually pause. It made her remember he'd been Garp's apprentice at one point. "Anyway, we're almost there and this ship took us the distance in less than half the time!"

"I suppose that information should be logged?" Kuzan directed towards Kuma.

The quiet man nodded. "Yes, it already has. I and Dr. Vegapunk's selected team will be logging these kinds of things as we go."

Oh good, so Luffy didn't really have to deal with too much of that. Too much science, too much paperwork, too much official-ness…

"I guess I'll have to let someone know the ship's good to go," Luffy mused aloud. "Did we take all of Alvida's food and treasure?"

"…Luffy, we're not pirates," Kuzan sighed.

She smiled widely. "Of course not; as Marines, it's our duty to confiscate from pirates, right?"

He gave her a look, to which she just responded by continuing to smile at him.

"'Sides, Sen-jiji said something about budgeting…"

At that, Kuzan pinched the bridge of his nose. "To be fair, your food intake is unnatural and expensive. I've actually heard Sengoku swearing that you're going to end up bankrupting the Marines." It made him think about that. "I suppose it makes sense for you to feed that monstrous appetite of yours somehow. Sengoku's right, let the pirates deal with it."

That was said while Luffy was polishing off another slab of pork.

"I'm gonna go check to see how we are on time and how far left to go," Luffy rocked on the balls of her feet. "I'll see you later, Kuma-chi. Come with, Kuzan?" Remembering Ripper was there too, still looking chagrined at her, she gestured for him to follow along.

Kuzan nodded and they parted ways with the Warlord. Together, they headed towards the bridge to which, when they entered, the Marines in there stood at attention.

"Captain on the bridge!" one of Aokiji's apprentices said. Scrambling her memory, she kind of remembered his name. Grou or something…?

"Your orders, Commodore Luffelia?" Blonde and blue-eyed, the pretty woman gave a secretive smile to her. Luffy tried not to get all giddy, but she smiled widely back at least.

"One, it's just Luffy, everyone!" she said, inwardly exasperated that Sengoku had to come up with a formal version of her name for her papers. "Second, how are we on time? And are we heading to Dawn Island?"

"After that side venture," Hibari said, appearing close by and giving her a twitchy look. Whoops, Luffy forgot her other Commander was also irritated at her. "We are still on track to Dawn Island and haven't lost any time."

Luffy hummed, rocking on her feet. "Okay! Sounds good. Bari, if you're finished with whatever you were doing, you've got the conn. Grou, you have the helm. Robin, c'mere please!"

The blonde woman nodded and came towards her, though Luffy uneasily noticed the looks traded between Kuzan and Robin. It wasn't something new though; anytime she'd seen and visited Robin before and Kuzan was with her, the two were always tense around each other. Neither would explain to her about it though, but she wasn't that stupid and she did look things up on her own.

Ohara wasn't something Sakazuki or Kuzan liked talking about.

"I'm glad Croc is lending you to me," Luffy giddily led the way to the kitchens. Robin inclined her head. "You really don't mind?"

"No, I'm very pleased," Robin murmured. "It's a refreshing change of pace and it is very nice getting to be around you. Your presence has been calming, especially around Crocodile. He's been…most felicitous of late."

Kuzan scoffed and Luffy gave him a pout —she was well aware of her dads' opinions on Crocodile and his rather frequent solicitations to her.

"Will you be stationed around here, Admiral Aokiji?" Robin asked politely and Luffy glanced at him too, curious if he was going to leave after they reached Dawn Island.

"Nothing concrete," Kuzan shrugged, tone indifferent. "The initial assessment was for me to at least go to Dawn Island. But feasibly, unless I'm needed for something, I don't see any reason why I can't stay for a while."

"I see," Robin replied quietly.

Luffy's eyes darted between them quickly. "This won't be a problem, yes?" she asked cheerily, even though inwardly she was worried.

"No," they both murmured but that didn't ease Luffy's mind at all.

"Well," Luffy started, quickly reaching into a cabinet for something to eat, "there should be lots of distra —" Instead of some sort of food, her hand touched soft flesh and Luffy snapped the cabinet wide open.

Jewelry Bonney stared back with wide eyes, mouth stuffed with whatever food was in there, and crouched as small as possible.

After taking the pinkette discretely out of there and quickly disappearing into Robin's personal room, Luffy rubbed the back of her neck and tried to think what to do. Robin and Kuzan stayed silent, not knowing who she was supposed to be.

"Does anyone know you're here?" Luffy asked her, hiding her distress.

"No, I made sure," Bonney told her earnestly. "I even hid it from Vegapunk! I promise, Big Sis!"

So she snuck onto the ship without Kuma or Vegapunk knowing…or she was sure they didn't. Luffy wouldn't put it passed Vegapunk to know.

"You'll be in big trouble if they know you're here, Jewel," she knelt down and gently poked Bonney's forehead. "Kuma-chi's here, so I have to let at least him know. But we'll have to hide you somehow."

"If I may," Robin spoke up. "She can be here under my 'guidance.' As the ship's scholar and historian, I can pretend she is a relative that I took on as an apprentice."

Luffy glanced between the two and nodded slowly, thinking about it. Another thought popped into her head and she smiled mischievously.

"We can do that. But we should add a little something to it! How about a prank, Jewel?" Luffy giggled and Kuzan sighed exasperated, while Bonney looked excited. Robin's bemused state just added to Luffy's amusement.

"Come here, Jewel, and let me explain!"

Koby sighed in exhaustion, having swabbed this floor's deck. Lieutenant Rokkaku was there and eying his work, popping up to check in on him. He stood straight, even as he was breathing hard, but he'd completed his work and felt proud.

"Hm, good work, Koby," Rokkaku praised reluctantly. "If you stay on this path, then maybe you could earn your place here on Commodore Luffelia's ship."

Koby hesitated before he asked, "Um, Lieutenant Rokkaku? Is it Commodore Luffelia or Commodore Luffy?"

He paused and looked around. "Technically, on paper, it's Commodore Luffelia —the nobles and whatnot like pretentious things, so they wouldn't take her seriously or would scoff if she's just Commodore Luffy."

Oh, that made sense. He could actually see that…

"That said," Rokkaku allowed a slight grin, "while Commander Ripper is pretty straitlaced and why he will always call her out formally, I just do it all the time because I know it makes her pout."

That was surprisingly mischievous of the Lieutenant Junior Grade! He really didn't expect it of the other.

"I see you've been hard at work," a semi-familiar voice said and Koby turned to see who he sort of remembered was Commander Ripper (the man had been super quiet but hadn't minded glaring full out at Luffy earlier).

By his side was a young blond boy, who looked pouty and annoyed. His purple eyes narrowed at Koby, scowling fiercely.

"What're you looking at, loser?!"

Koby twitched, resisting the urge to shout back. Why can't he catch a break? He knew he looked like a weakling, okay?!

"I-it's f-future Admiral Koby!" he told him loudly, face red.

Damn it, that was his goal now that he'd joined the Marines! He was going to rank up!

"Tch," he scoffed at him. "Not if I don't become one first, shortstop!"

"How spirited, our Chore Boys are," Commander Ripper deadpanned, glancing between the two. He lightly pushed the newcomer towards Rokkaku. "Enjoy supervising these two, Lieutenant Junior Grade."

He turned from them and started to walk away. Rokkaku's jaw dropped and he hurried after him.

"W-wait, you can't be serious? Commander? Commander?! Ripper, no!"

Koby numbly felt a finger poking his cheek. "Hn…what's your name, pink baby? I'm Je —June!"

He gave him a side glance, balefully eying the smug boy next to him.

"I'm Koby and I'm going to be Admiral of the Marines!"

He hoped he could declare that confidently in front of his commanding officer and make Luffy proud!
