CHAPTER ONE
Galinda let out a shaky breath as she walked out of the bathroom, sniffling as she snuggled into her bed. Her face was flushed from the ten minute episode of vomiting she just had. Her cheeks were wet and eyes puffy from the crying.
"Are you okay?"
She looked over to her roommate, sniffling again. "Yeah," she said with a raspy voice.
"You were in there for a while. I heard you throwing up."
"I'm fine, Elphie. Just an upset stomach."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm okay."
"I can call the nurse."
"I don't need the nurse."
"What if it's more than an upset stomach? You could have the flu."
"It's not the flu."
"How can you be sure?"
"Because I'm pregnant!" Galinda snapped.
The room was quiet for a few seconds except for the shuffling of Elphaba getting out of bed and sitting on Galinda's.
"You're pregnant?" Elphaba asked.
Galinda sniffled and nodded. "Yeah..."
"Are you okay?"
"I will be."
"...Is it Boq's?"
Galinda's face scrunched. "No..."
"I was joking. Does Fiyero know?"
"I haven't had the chance to tell him yet."
"How long have you known?"
"About five minutes..."
"Are you going to tell him?"
"I have to. It's his baby."
"What do you think he'll say?"
"I don't know... I don't wanna talk about it right now, I just wanna sleep before I get sick again."
"Maybe the nurse will have something to help."
"I don't need the fucking nurse. Just let me sleep," Galinda snapped, turning over to face away from her.
Elphaba had never heard Galinda curse before, let alone hearing such a vulgar word come from her mouth. She respected her roommate's wishes though, and made her way back to her own bed, but not without worry.
The next morning, Galinda was up early, and like clockwork for the last week or so, was in the bathroom due to morning sickness. Being nauseous wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the vomiting. When she walked out of the bathroom, she was dressed and had her makeup on for the day, but her hair was still in a sloppy bun from sleeping in it.
"Are you okay?" Elphaba asked.
"Still pregnant," Galinda said, sitting at her vanity with a small yawn.
"Well yeah, but do you feel alright?"
"Not any worse than usual, I supposify," she said, taking her hair out of the bun and running a brush through it.
"Are you telling Fiyero today?"
"That's the plan. Might skip class if it takes a while to talk about it."
"I'll tell Dr. Dillamond you don't feel well and might not come."
"Thanks..."
Galinda pulled her hair into a half up half down ponytail before she turned to look at her green friend. "I'm sorry I snapped at you last night... I didn't mean to use that languification."
"It's fine. I can't say I wouldn't have said worse if I was in your situation," Elphaba said. "I've heard you say worse, anyways."
"You most certainly have not."
"I absolutely have. You and Fiyero aren't exactly subtle when he comes over in the middle of the night. I probably heard the exact moment that baby was conceived."
Galinda's cheeks flushed and her eyes widened. "You can hear us? All the way over on the couch?"
"And all the way in the bathroom. And when you're in your bed - you're literally ten feet away from me."
"Oh, Oz."
"I hear a lot of that, too."
"Stop that," Galinda said, standing up and sliding her flats on her feet. "We'll be more mindful. And quieter."
"I understand your needs, but I'd appreciate it."
"We will. Don't be late to class," she said as she grabbed her purse from a hook. "I don't know how long Fiyero and I will be, so... I'll see you tonight, probably."
"Good luck. Follow the yellow brick road."
Galinda stopped at the door, cocking her head at Elphaba in confusion. "He's just in the next hall, why would I go all the way to the yellow brick road?"
"I'm just joking."
"I don't get it."
"Never mind."
"...Kay. See you later."
Galinda got more nervous the closer she got to Fiyero's room. Her heart thumped harder with each step and she was sure she could feel her nerves wiggling and shimmying inside of her body. She eventually got to his door and let out a deep breath to calm herself before knocking.
She plastered a smile on her face as the door opened, only to frown when she saw her boyfriend's weird roommate. "Oh. Hello, Bick," she said, brushing past him.
"It's Boq," Boq said. "What can I do for you, Miss Galinda?"
"I need to talk to Fiyero."
"He's just in the bathroom getting ready for class."
"Alone."
"Yes, he's alone."
Galinda's eyes rolled before she turned on her heel to look at Boq. "I mean get out. I need to speak to him alone."
"It's not time for me to leave yet."
"It is now," she said, handing the munchkin his book bag and guiding him out of the door.
"What am I supposed to do until class?"
"Figure it out," she said, closing the door in his face.
Just as she turned around, Fiyero emerged from the bathroom in nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. She stared at his body for a few seconds, her mouth slightly agape.
"Well, if it isn't the most beautiful girl. Shall I give her a whirl?" Fiyero asked.
Galinda snapped out of her daze and smiled, looking at him. "Please."
Fiyero kissed her lips gently. "What brings you by?"
"We need to talk."
"We would have seen each other in Dillamond's class."
"We might not make it to class today. It's important."
"Important enough to skip class?"
"Yes."
Fiyero looked back and forth between her eyes, seeing the worry in them. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"
"Define 'okay'..."
"Are you sick?"
"Uh... not really."
"Are you leaving school?"
"No. Not yet, anyways..."
"Galinda, what's going on?" Fiyero asked, sitting on his bed.
Her eyes watered as she put her purse down. "We weren't safe..." her voice cracked.
"What? Are you in danger? By who?"
"No - we weren't safe."
"What are you talking about?"
"We haven't been using protection."
"Protection from what?"
"Sex."
"What? You said -"
"I know. I said it was fine because I thought it would be."
"Well, we'll just start using protection then."
"It's too late."
"What?"
Galinda sniffled, biting her thumbnail for a few seconds. "We're having a baby."
"What?"
"I'm pregnant," her voice cracked.
"Do you know for sure?"
"I took a test last night."
"Oh... Ozma..."
"I'm sorry... I didn't mean for this to happen," Galinda sobbed.
Fiyero pulled her into his lap, kissing the side of her head. "Don't cry. It'll be okay."
"How?" Her voice cracked. "How are we gonna have a witchling and continuate school?"
"We'll figure it out. Tons of students do it."
"Not at Shiz..."
"So maybe we're the first. We'll figure it out, Galinda."
"I can't be a failure, I can't be the first of the Uplands to flunk out of school," her voice cracked.
"You won't be. You won't flunk out, you won't have to leave."
"How do you know?"
"Because you're you. You won't let it happen."
"I'm not so sure."
"I am. I believe in you. You can do anything you set your mind to. You are the Galinda Upland. You'll never be a failure."
Galinda sniffled. "You think so?"
"I know so."
She smiled, staring at his eyes. "I love you, she whispered.
"I love you, too," he said, kissing her lips.
As they got lost in the kiss, Fiyero scooted them back on the bed, laying down and bringing her on top of him.
Galinda's legs straddled him, his towel was unfastened, and before they knew it, her panties were moved to the side under her skirt and she slid onto him, nestling herself comfortably against his hips.
Her hips rocked gently at first and picked up speed gradually over a few minutes. Just as they let out simultaneous moans and she soaked his lap, the door opened, revealing Boq - who hadn't covered his eyes quickly enough.
"Sweet Oz!" Boq exclaimed.
"Bick! Don't you knock!" Galinda snapped, quickly fixing her skirt to make sure they were both covered.
"This is my room!"
"Get out!"
"I forgot my keys!"
"You can get them later!"
"I need them for later!"
"Get out!"
"Fine! And it's Boq!" Boq quipped as he left, letting the door close behind him.
Galinda sighed and Fiyero laughed, getting a light smack to the arm.
"It's not funny," Galinda said.
"It kind of is," Fiyero said with a chuckle. "He's gonna dream about you tonight. Chances are, he won't wake up dry."
"Ew! I don't wanna think about that. He's been perving on me since middle school," she said, carefully getting off of her and fixing herself as he used his towel to dry his lap.
"He has a crush. Who could blame him?"
"It's weird," Galinda said, getting a pair of underwear out of a drawer and tossing them to Fiyero.
"Well, I have a crush on you, am I weird?"
"No, because you actually have a chance," she said, sitting on the edge of his bed as he slid his underwear on.
"You wouldn't even give him a little attention?"
"No. He creepifies me out. It's a weird obsession. He needs a hobby."
"You are his hobby."
"A healthy hobby."
