PART ONE: WAKING UP
PROLOGUE
"Welcome to the world of Pokémon."
I couldn't shake it from my head. It was almost like the words were right in front of me, in a black void.
Then, I could hear and feel something crash over me. Waves. Cold and wet.
Opening my eyes slowly, I could see the sky.
Wait. The sky?
I thought I was just in my bed. But now, for some reason, I was outside?
I managed to get myself up. But something was wrong. I felt a lot heavier than usual. And I was still caught up in the fact I was not in my room.
Looking around me, I could see I was on some kind of beach. The waves I could feel were washing over my body, and I was lying in the sand.
But that wasn't the part I was concerned about.
My feet looked… different.
And my stomach definitely was not this big before.
Also, I'm pretty sure I used to wear clothes. But here I was. Completely naked. On a beach.
"What is going on with me?" I thought. "This isn't my body."
Then, it hit me.
I was no longer human.
I don't know if it was the fact that I had just woken up, or if it was some kind of shock, but it didn't hit me until just then.
"No… no… I… I've changed," I thought. "What AM I?"
I looked at my body. There were some kind of orange scales all over it. My belly, which used to be a lot slimmer, was sticking out. My feet had three giant claws that looked very sharp. The same with my hands. Three claws.
The most egregious part I noticed was right behind me, however.
I had somehow grown a tail.
But weirdly enough, as I looked around my body more and more, I also noticed I had two wings jutting out of my back.
"So I'm some kind of dragon-thing?"
My mind raced. I wasn't whatever this thing was. I was human. Yeah, definitely human.
I was gonna wake up any second now, and everything would be back to normal. I would be in my bed. In my room. And I wouldn't be a monster.
But what if that wasn't the case.
I remember I had watched a lot of anime about reincarnation. Like, people turning into vending machines or swords or whatever, and being placed in some kind of fantasy world.
What if that was happening to me?
I sat back down in the sand, and put my head in my hands.
"If I'm really not dreaming, I need to face the facts," I thought. "I could be like this forever."
That thought alone scared me more than anything else.
Putting myself together, I looked around more.
I was, obviously, on some kind of beach. But it wasn't a large one. It was very secluded. Surrounded by what looked like woods. There was pretty much no way out unless you went through the trees.
"Well, I guess I have no choice but to explore this place."
And so, I got myself up, and began walking into the forest.
This was the start of my journey.
