CHAPTER SIXTEEN:
REVENGE IS AFOOT

-Udon-

Ruffles, Amp and I stood there, confused expressions on our faces.

Apparently, there was now an evil version of Mew that was trying to kill us, and he had already succeeded in burning down the Hidden Village.

"I know you all know the story of the Mountain of Mew," Aura said. "But I'm guessing you don't know the whole thing."

We shook our heads. This was beyond what we knew.

"Long ago, there was a team of scientists, looking to clone Pokémon. They were close many times, but couldn't seem to perfect it," he explained. "Until one day, they came across the Pokémon, Mew. Mew told them they would be granted any wish. So they wished for its DNA. When they tried the cloning process again, this time with Mew's DNA, it worked. But they didn't know what kind of twisted creature they had unleashed on the world."

"Mewtwo, as the scientists called it, woke up, broke out, and killed every single one of them," he continued. "Then, he began his reign of terror on the world, plunging it into complete darkness. Mew was so distraught, it exiled itself inside of a mountain, and never granted another wish after that."

This was a lot more information than Amp had given me at the start.

"Why is Mewtwo trying to kill us?" I asked. "Is it because we're Otherworlders?"

"That's what he tells the Elite Four," Aura said. "He says Otherworlders are a threat to reality, but the real reason is, he doesn't want any Otherworlders to find Mew. He knows if any are able to do so, they can put a stop to his tyranny."

"Wait," I said. "Pokémon like us aren't going to destroy the world?"

Aura nodded. "Anomalies, as some call them, are like minor glitches in reality," he stated. "No one knows what causes them, but they are not the apocalyptic sign the Elite Four claims them to be."

So the Elite Four, and possibly the rest of the world, was being lied to the entire time.

"How do you know this?" I asked.

"Because…" Loom stepped in, "I've been here for years now, and nothing has happened."

Everyone paused. Loom was an Otherworlder like us?

"Yes, it's true," she said. "I went through the same thing all of you did. I saw the words, I woke up on the beach, and started my journey to get home. But along the way, I got in a fight with the Elite Four. I would've been a goner if it weren't for Aura here."

She turned towards Aura, a smile grazing her face.

"I was too injured to keep going. No potions would help," Loom continued. "So he took me back to the Hidden Village to heal. Everyone there called me special. They said it was cause I was shiny or something."

"Years passed, and soon she became the new leader of the village." Aura said. "Until today, the Elite Four has been unable to find us."

Loom put her head back down. "Now my home is destroyed, and it's all Mewtwo's fault," she said.

She began to cry once more. This was a lot for her to take in. The only home she'd ever truly known since she got here was now rubble.

"We can stop Mewtwo together and get to Mew," I said. "Right, guys?"

Ruffles and Amp nodded. "You can count on us," Ruffles said.

Loom began to smile again through her tears.

"Thank you," she said.

Just then, I noticed that almost everyone from the village had been crawling out from multiple shelters under the ground.

They all were looking around at the devastation that had occurred. Their homes were now just ash.

"What do we do now, leader?" one of the villagers asked.

Loom stood up after her long time of sitting and crying.

"I'm afraid now we must all go our separate ways," she said. "These four brave souls, and myself, are going to stop the monster known as Mewtwo and his Elite Four. Whatever it takes, however long it takes, we will succeed."

Everyone in the village applauded. I could tell they were tired of Mewtwo's wrath. We all were.

So, after grabbing some much needed supplies and food from the bunker, the five of us decided to hit the road.

"Before we go," Ruffles said. "I thought of a name for us. I think you're all gonna like it."

"Yeah, what is it?" I asked.

He paused for a second for dramatic effect.

"I say we call ourselves Team Scarlet."
