Romance Trials Of A Sniper Chapter 3

As the days slowly pass by things quickly fall into routine with Omega now included.

Because Omega had assisted Nala Se with her own experiments on Kamino in the past, she is now assisting her and other medical personnel.

Doctor Karr retrieves her in the morning, takes her to the labs to commence with the child's assigned tasks, and multiple times a day Omega makes her way to the lurca hound kennels to give the animals their food rations. Without a data pad at hand to possess, there are very few places Omega to gain access to on her own without clearance. The places she is permitted to venture she is allowed free reign as long as she doesn't cause any trouble with misbehavior.

Sora isn't around the child that much, but she's got to admit that the youngster's natural curiosity and outgoing personality are refreshing in this dark, depressing, and dreary place.

For Sora, it's good to see she isn't alone in feeling as she does in this dark place.

Sora soon discovers that she isn't the only one drawn to Omega and is compelled to keep an eye out for her wellbeing.

One of Omega's duties is to carry genetic blood samples extracted during medical examinations on the prisoners. This time around a sample is taken from Omega to be added to the others.

Sora accompanies her to Nala Se's lab as she delivers them.

The affection between Nala Se and Omega being no secret, Sora goes over to a machine to check over some samples from a separate research project to provide them some semblance of privacy.

Nala Se and Omega speak quietly with each other, but, because of how tight the space already is in the lab Sora can still hear what they say to each other.

Alarmed that Omega's blood is one of the samples from today's extractions, Nala Se said "Omega, your sample was taken?"

Nodding, Omega said, "Emerie said it was routine."

Sora can't refute that. Even members of the staff are getting their genetic samples taken and mixed in with the experiments here at the facility. Doctor Hemlock is so keen on getting results for his work that he's looking even to the medical personnel and the stormtroopers to add to the specimens already on file. Sora's already went through the process, and she was so happy when it was confirmed that none of hers were viable.

That would've been a nightmare if it were.

Nala Se appears to be of the same sentiment and doesn't want Omega to be on the receiving end of anything Doctor Hemlock has in store for those chosen.

Nala Se swiftly disposes of Omega's blood before it can be submitted for testing under untrustworthy eyes, erasing traces of any data on Omega in the system.

"Why are you discarding it," asked Omega, confused, watching Nala Se dispose of the vial containing her blood.

"Tell no one," urged Nala Se. "It is safer this way."

"This research, it's not like we did on Kamino, is it," said Omega, somberly.

Shaking her head, Nala Se said "No, it is not."

"I don't understand. Why did they bring me here," questioned Omega.

"To ensure that I cooperate. The Empire seeks the reproduction of a genetic M-count, but the experiments on the specimens have yet to yield the desired result," explained Nala Se.

"What specimens? You mean the clones," said Omega, struggling to make sense of it all.

"No. Not the clones," said Nala Se.

It's then that Nala Se spots Sora glancing their way, having heard and witnessed everything they did and said to each other.

Sora has caught Nala Se destroying Omega's blood sample when they thought her back was turned.

Nala Se and Omega both freeze, believing they're about to get into major trouble from Sora alerting Doctor Hemlock about it and on classified information that shouldn't be shared with those that don't have clearance.

Sora will do nothing of the sort.

Sora wholeheartedly agrees with what Nala Se just did. She's not going to rat the Kaminoan out and is certainly not going to do so for the foreseeable future.

A small smile curling her lips, Sora places a subtle finger over them showing that their secret is safe with her.

Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.

So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.

I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
