Romance Trials Of A Sniper Chapter 5
Days turn into weeks and before any of them knew it months have passed.
The outlook for Omega is even more bleak the longer she's imprisoned in this loathsome, abominable, and awful place. With each day that passes the light within her seems to grow smaller, the spark of hope diminishing in the face of the countless terrorizations she witnesses others endure.
But Omega sees it as her duty to find some way to keep the spirit of hope alive, especially for Crosshair.
For those who pay attention like Sora, it's easy to figure out Omega's whereabouts these days.
Despite all Crosshair's attempts to chase her away, Omega keeps coming back. Determined to see him.
Omega is relaying to him her most recent meeting with a lurca hound in the kennels that she's grown extremely fond of.
"I dressed Batcher's wounds as best as I could. At least she didn't bite me. That's progress, right," sighed Omega, trying to see the bright side of it.
Crosshair says nothing in response, remaining slouched in a hunched-over position as he listens to her seemingly endless prattle.
Undeterred, Omega said "Maybe I can steal a med kit from the lab and see what I can use-."
"Stop," said Crosshair, crossly, snapping his head up.
Omega startles, peering through the bars at him in alarm.
Sighing, Crosshair sighed "What is your primary objective."
"Escape," said Omega, uncertainly.
"Then stop wasting time on lost causes. Forget the hound, forget me, and complete the mission," said Crosshair.
Shaking her head stubbornly, Omega said "Not without you."
Wearily, Crosshair said "If I get the chance to escape, I wouldn't think twice about leaving you behind."
Sora has difficulty believing that.
Omega isn't falling for it either.
"You're lying," she exclaimed. "You wouldn't do that. You're my brother."
"I'm not them," said Crosshair.
Unrattled by the display, steadfastly, Omega said "I'm not giving up, Crosshair. I won't let you either."
Seeing she's not going to get anywhere else with him, Omega decides to call it a day and leave. As she heads away from the cell, Crosshair's voice stops her.
"Omega," said Crosshair, blearily, moving to stand at the door.
Omega stops, turning toward him with a hopeful expression on her face.
A blank stare in his eyes, tiredly, Crosshair said "Don't risk anything for me. I belong in here."
"None of us belong here," countered Omega.
Crosshair had nothing to say to that. He watches Omega leave until she turns a corner and is out of sight.
Only then does Sora make her presence known to him.
"You should listen to her," said Sora, softly, stepping into the light where he could see her.
"How long have you been there," asked Crosshair.
"Long enough," said Sora, gently. "And she's right. None of us belong in this place."
Stiffening, extremely downcast, and forlorn, Crosshair sighed "You shouldn't risk anything for me either. Getting involved…If you are found out…you'll be locked up in here the same as me. The same as all of us."
"I already am," said Sora, sadly.
Sora then departs to return to her daily tasks.
Crosshair soon ends up in even more of a pickle because of Omega.
The poor thing had made a huge error by releasing the lurca hound she'd grown so fond of into the wild after discovering that the canine was going to be put down for her newly acquired domesticated behavior that would be proven to be a liability out in the field.
Omega ended up being utterly distraught after that so Sora decided to do her a solid.
During a surprise inspection in Omega's quarters, Commandos found a straw doll that the child had made with her own two hands and confiscated it.
Seeing that Omega needs something of her own to comfort her now more than ever Sora does her a favor and steals the doll back. In a lull where no one else is around Sora sneaks into Omega's quarters and places it in a spot that's hidden yet Omega will still be able to easily find it by herself.
Authors Note:
We are getting closer to where Crosshair and Omega escape Tantiss with Batcher. What do you guys think? Should Sora leave with them when they make a break for freedom or should she remain trapped on Tantiss with all the other prisoners?
I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D
For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.
Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.
So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.
I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
