Damon was sitting behind his desk, going through the books, while his bartenders and waitresses were busy working tonight. Damon hoped to wrap things up quickly so he could spend more time with Elena and Bella. Mostly with Elena. With Elena working so much and Damon having to close the bar after working late nights, they hadn't been spending much time together, and Damon couldn't help but miss her already.

Damon also thought tonight would be a good opportunity for them to start talking about living together, so the three of them could be a real family. Ever since Bella had asked him why they weren't living together, Damon couldn't help but wonder the same thing. Damon loves his apartment and Pearl, his landlord, has been wonderful, but Damon is tired of sleeping alone every night.

He would spend the night with Elena at her place sometimes, but it wasn't the same. While Damon was going through the books, he heard a knock on his office door. "Come in," Damon called out as he picked up his glass of bourbon and took a drink before setting the glass down on his desk.

Hearing his door opening, Damon looked up and noticed Klaus Mikelson standing in the doorway. "Klaus, what is it?" Damon asked.

" I know that you're busy. But there's someone out here who's been asking to see you."

"Who is it?" Damon asked, knowing it couldn't be Elena, since she's working the night shift tonight at the hospital. So he already knows it's not her.

" She said that her name is Katherine Pierce and she's an old friend of yours from New Orleans."

Damon's jawline started to clench the moment Klaus mentioned Katherine's name. Keeping himself calm, Damon finished his bourbon and stood up from his desk, straightening his shirt. "Where is she?"

"Sitting at the bar, she had her second drink and flirted with Kai."

Damon snorts a little with an eye roll." Of course, she is. Thanks Klaus, I'll handle it." Damon said with a sigh as he walked out of his office and headed towards the bar. As Klaus had mentioned there was Katherine Pierce sitting at his bar flirting with one of his employees.

"I see you're still flirting with one of my employees." Damon said as he walked up to Katherine and then looked over at Kai. "You've got other customers to serve; I suggest you get back to work, now."

"Come on, I was only having a little fun." Katherine said with a pout as she watched Kai walking away from her and then turned around to face Damon. "Hello, Damon. It's been a long time. How have you been?"

"What are you doing here, Katherine?" Damon asked, ignoring her question.

" Just to talk. Mind if we have this conversation privately?" Katherine asked as she took a drink from her glass.

"Sure, follow me." Damon said as he walked away from Katherine towards his office. The sooner Damon figures out why Katherine is here, the sooner he could get rid of her and get out of there like he originally planned on doing.

Closing the door behind him, Damon walked behind his desk and sat down. "So are you going to tell me what you're doing here?" he asked as he poured himself another glass of bourbon.

" Funny you should ask, considering that your mother is the reason why I'm here." Katherine said as she looked around his office before looking back at him.

"My mother? Why would she be the reason why you're here?"

" Well just a few days ago, I had an interesting conversation with her. She mentioned that she and your father had dinner with you and your brother's family when they came to visit a couple of weeks ago. When I asked her why she was telling me all of this, she happened to mention that you're back with your ex-girlfriend. So I thought I would come out here and see if it was actually true or not."

Damon should have known that his mother would say something to Katherine. "My mother never knew how to keep her mouth shut. So what? You came out here, hoping that I would leave Elena and go back to you? Sorry to disappoint you, Katherine, but I'm not leaving her again."

"Actually, I was hoping to meet this Elena Gilbert." Katherine said as she shrugged her shoulders.

Damon quickly shook his head. "Yeah, I don't think so. Stay away from Elena, Katherine. I mean it. Things between me and Elena are going great. I don't need you to come in and screw it up." Damon said as he threw his head back and poured his bourbon down his throat.

" Ohh, I get it. Elena doesn't know about me, does she?" Katherine asked with a snort as she shook her head.

"No, she doesn't, and she doesn't need to know." Damon sighs as he closes his eyes and pinches the bridge of his nose. "Can you just go back to New Orleans, and please forget that you came here and forget about this conversation? Because I would love to."

Elena was on her way home after her shift when she noticed her boss's door was open and she saw him sitting behind his desk. Elena gently knocked on his door before entering his office. "I wanted to let you know that my reports are completed and I've sent them to your inbox."

Elijah nodded his head. "How did the surgery go?"

" It was touch and go in the beginning. But we were able to stop the bleeding and in the end, the surgery went great." Elena answered, nodding her head a little.

"Going home already?"

"Yeah, I'm heading out now. Good night, Elijah."

"Good night, Elena."

Walking into her hotel room after her little visit with Damon, Katherine walked towards the mini bar and poured herself a glass of bourbon when she heard the bathroom door open. She took a sip of her bourbon as she leaned against the bar.

"How was your visit with Damon?"

"Not well, but of course I didn't expect it to be though." Katherine said as she shrugged her shoulders and took another drink before setting her glass down.

"So, does that mean we're going back home now?"

Katherine shook her head. "Nah, I think I'm gonna stay for a few more days."

"Why?"

"Because I want to meet her."

"Are you sure that's a good idea?"

Katherine shrugs her shoulders. "Maybe not. But Rose, I need to know why he came back here, and why he left me for her." Katherine and Damon were together in New Orleans. They were going to get married. But one night, Damon told her that he wasn't happy in New Orleans and he wanted to go back home. What he left out was that he was coming back home to his ex-girlfriend.

A N: I know, I've been slacking off lately and I want to apologize for that. I've been trying to come up a way to start the new chapter and maybe bring little drama into the story. So hopefully with Katherine around causing drama would work. I promise, I won't take forever to update next time.
