Author's Note: This one shot is inspired by a comment I made on tiktok video of Thackery and McGee. Someone suggested I write about the headcanon I created, so I did. It is not as put together as my other stories, since I have never written for Hocus Pocus or NCIS. I have also never attempted writing a reincarnation fic before. So this is completely outside my wheelhouse.

Thackery sat with his family in their cottage enjoying their evening meal when there was a knock on the door.

"I will get it," Thackery said as he stood up. "It is probably Elijah."

Thackery walked over to the door and was greeted by a young woman in a red blouse, holding a folder. "Thackery Binx?"

"Yes," Thankery confirmed while giving the woman a confused look. "Is something the matter?"

"That depends," the woman said. "Can we talk for a minute?"

Thackery looked back at his family, then back at the woman. He had a sneaking suspicion about what this was about but didn't dare voice it. He didn't want to upset his family. They had already waited so long for him in the Afterlife. Emily, his little sister, especially.

"Of course," Thackery decided as he grabbed his coat off the hanging rack. He took another look at his family, memorizing their faces. "I'll be right back."

The young soul stepped outside, feeling the bite of the winter chill. Even though it was the Afterlife, his and his family's Paradise was set up so they could continue to experience the seasons and all they had to offer, minus the risk of illness and starvation.

"Can we walk and talk?" Thackery asked, rubbing his hands together.

"Sure," the woman agreed, seemingly unaffected by the weather. Thackery figured she something a bit more than a human soul. Either she was a Fae or an Angel. He could never tell the two apart, but he knew the weather didn't bother them.

The two walked in silence for a bit, getting as far away from the cottage and local gossipers as they could.

"Are you here to make the same offer as the other two women?" Thackery finally asked. "I think my answer would have been accepted the first time."

"Yes," the woman said. "But you must understand. You are a rare case and you are being offered an amazing opportunity. I understand that you want to remain with your family. I really do, but realize that compared to your last time on Earth, you won't be gone as long. You can come back."

"Why am I being given this offer anyway?" Thackery questioned.

"The Universe realizes you have suffered a great deal and it wants to correct it," the woman explained. "What happened to you, was not meant to happen. You and your sister should have grown up and had families of your own. But the Sanderson Sisters meddled with fate and threw your lives off course."

"Why hasn't my sister been offered this yet?" Thackery wondered.

"She will be, once her soul has matured," the woman assured. "She chose to stop her growing in the Afterlife because she wanted you to recognize her when you finally got her. Now that you are here, she has resumed growing and will continue to grow even if you leave. Once her soul reaches maturity, she will be given the same offer as you. We can ensure that is still your sister when she goes back. If that is the wish of you both. And if not, she will be someone you know and care about deeply."

"And my parents?" Thackery asked, beginning to think a second wouldn't be so bad.

"They have both chosen to stay here," the woman said. "They have stated on multiple occasions that they are not ready for the mortal world and believe they will fail again as parents."

Thackery looked at the file in the woman's hand. "What's in the file."

"You're new life, should you choose to accept it," the woman explained. "A life filled with love, friendship, family. A chance to change the world or at least make it safer. What do you say?"

Thackery thought about it. He liked the idea of living again. He remembered Dani and Max and often wondered how they were doing. It would be nice to check in on them, even if he didn't remember them. The fact that his sister might later join made the deal even more tempting. He knew the woman wasn't lying about any of it.

"Can I at least say goodbye?" Thackery asked.

The woman shook her head. "Sadly no, but we will tell them you took the offer. However, if they choose to they are more than welcome to watch you as you live your new life."

Thackery looked around at the Paradise he had earned after the long, hard life he had. It was cozy and safe. He felt the sense of peace, that he hadn't felt since before that fateful night. Yet at the same time, he was itching for adventure.

"Okay," Thackery agreed. "How do we do this?"

"Just grab hold of the file," the woman instructed, holding said file out. "As soon as you touch it, your new life will begin."

Thackery hesitated for a second, then reached out and firmly gripped the file. In a flash he was gone, leaving the woman standing there, alone.

McGee awoke with a start, clutching his chest. After a few deep breaths, he looked around, getting a feel for his surroundings. He was in a hotel room, in Salem, Massachusetts. He was here for a case. A case he solved. He was spending another night, before heading back home.

McGee swung his legs over the bed and stood up. He walked over to the bathroom. After relieving himself, he looked in the mirror while washing his hands. "What is happening to me?" McGee asked himself.

Ever since he arrived in Salem, he started having flashbacks that looked like they were from the 1600s. 1693 to be exact. How he knew the exact year was beyond him. Along with the flashbacks several new names popped up. Emily, Elijah, Max, Dani, Allison, Winifred, Mary, and Sarah. Whenever he saw Emily, he felt like he was looking at his sister. Elijah felt like a best friend. Max, Dani, and Allison felt more recent than the other two. They felt like friends even though he could tell they hadn't known each other long. And Winifred, Mary, and Sarah spanned across both times. They reminded him of the criminals he arrested on a regular basis.

He had done some research and that Winifred, Mary, and Sarah were sisters who were hung as witches after they killed a little girl named Emily. The Emily from his flashbacks. They swore they would return after 300 years. Supposedly they did in 1993. Which is where Max, Dani, and Allison came into play. He also found it confusing since he was in high school in a different state.

How could he have memories of the same year, but somewhere completely different? Then again, how could he have memories from 1693? He needed answers.

McGee dried his hands and walked back over to the bed. He picked up his phone and sent a text to both Torres and Gibbs, letting them know he was going to spend a few more days in Salem. He then called Delilah and left her voicemail, so she wouldn't worry either.

He knew he had responsibilities back home, but he needed answers before he drove himself mad. As he set his phone back down, he climbed back into bed, to try a get a few more hours of sleep before diving into what appears to be a past life.

McGee sat in his car, just outside a local animal shelter. He looked down at his phone, on the screen was a picture of a young woman holding a black cat. Her name was Dani Dennison, she ran the shelter he was at and identified as a white witch. She ran and supported several charities that focused on rescuing animals from abusive homes. Her brother Max Dennison and his wife, Allison also helped with the charities while running an antique shop.

The more he had researched the trio, the more memories he had. Memories of his former life. A life where he was known as Thackery Binx. He remembered everything. He remembered hunting the witches down and sneaking into their cottage to save his sister. Only to realize he was too late. For his efforts in trying to stop them, he was turned into an immortal cat. He finally died when the witches burned in the rising sun after two teenagers and a little girl stopped them.

He wasn't all to sure about why he was here, sitting in this particular parking lot, but he felt in his gut that it was important. Maybe it was closure. His previous life had been pretty traumatic. Maybe it was the curious cat in him. He wanted to know how his would have been family was doing. Maybe it was all of the above.

McGee took a deep breath, pocketed his phone, got out of the car, and walked inside. There at the reception desk to greet him was Dani herself.

"Afternoon sir," Dani greeted. "How can I help you?"

"Hi, yes, um, hi," McGee stammered. "I, uh, I think..."

Dani gave him a worried look. "Are you okay, sir?"

McGee took a deep breath and straightened himself. "I'm fine. I'm sorry. I'm not sure how to say this without sounding crazy?"

"Are you here for magic?" Dani wondered.

"Uh, I guess you could say that," McGee said. "Do you know anything about Thackery Binx and the Sanderson Sisters?"

Now it was Dani's turn to be at a loss for words. "Um, I, hmm, yes. It's, uh, complicated. Wh-what do you, um want to-to, uh, know?"

"I don't really need to know anything, I'm sure that if we keep talking, you'll find that I know more than you think I should know," McGee replied.

"What do you mean?" Dani asked.

Mcgee took another deep breath. "Let's just say, I know it was brother who lit the Black Flame Candle on Halloween Night back in 1993."

"How do you know that?" Dani questioned, feeling a sense of discomfort wash over her. They never told anyone what happened.

"I was there," McGee said. "I didn't look like this though. I was smaller, black, and covered in fur."

Realization dawned on Dani. "You-you're saying your Binx? How? That can't be possible."

"I can't really answer it either," McGee shrugged. "But all I know is that ever since I got to this town, I've been dealing with memories that aren't mine and they all lead back to you, your brother, his wife, and the Sanderson Sisters. The best I can figure is that I'm the reincarnation of Thackery Binx."

"Can you prove it?" Dani asked, skeptical of this whole interaction.

McGee sighed and wracked his brain for a second before answering. "After we thought we got rid of the witches by burning them in the school oven, you told me, well, Binx 'You're my kitty now. You'll have milk and tuna fish every day. And you'll only hunt mice for fun' I replied 'You're going to turn me into one of those fat, useless, contented house cats.' Then you said-"

"'You betcha'," Dani remembered, cutting McGee off. "You're really him. You're Binx."

"Yeah," McGee chuckled, taking in the absurdity of it all. "Yeah, I'm Binx."

Dani picked up her phone. "Hold on I gotta make a call."

McGee nodded and stepped back from the reception desk in an attempt to offer her a bit more privacy.

"Hey Max," Dani said into the phone. "How quickly can you and Allison get over here. It's important"... "No, the animals are fine. But you guys need to get over here."... "No, I'm telling you what it is, because you won't believe me."... "Just get here soon. You have ten minutes."

Eight minutes later, Max and Allison walked in, both seemingly out of breath.

"Did you guys run here?" Dani asked, trying to hide her laughter.

"Yes!" Max exclaimed. "I tried telling you our car was in the shop, but you weren't listening."

"Sorry," Dani apologized as she came out from behind the desk. "But this is very important and life-altering."

"You say the same thing whenever we go out for seafood," Allison stated. "What makes this any different?"

"Max, Allison, there's someone I'd like you to meet," Dani said. "Now before I do. I am not crazy and neither is the person I am about to introduce you to. He knows things that no one else should know. Things we haven't discussed since '93."

Max rolled his eyes. "Not this again. I told you getting into witchcraft was a bad idea" He looked over at McGee. "Look man, I don't know what's going on or whatever crazy conspiracy you guys have cooked up, but I don't care."

"Sorry you think that way, Max," McGee stated, feeling less nervous than he had with Dani. "It really was all just a bunch of hocus pocus."

Max seemed to do a double take. "Excuse me?"

"You heard me," McGee said. "A virgin claimed it was all just a bunch of hocus pocus and lit the Black Flame Candle, like an idiot. But hey, I should be grateful. Because of you, I seem to have gotten a second chance to live my life."

"No way," Allison said looking back and forth between her husband and McGee. "You're Binx?"

"In a sense," McGee shrugged. "I go by Timothy McGee now, but back then I was Thackery Binx."

"If you're a reincarnation, how come you look like you're the same age as us?" Max asked.

"From what I've read about reincarnation, time isn't always linear," McGee answered. "I assume whoever gave me this second chance, knew I'd eventually find you guys, and having us close in age would make things easier."

Dani nodded. "Yeah, that's about the sum of it. Personally, I never put much stock in it, but now, given the past half hour, I'll never doubt it again."

"I think I need a drink," Max stated, rubbing his temples. "This just all too much."

"I felt the same way," McGee agreed. "How about I order us some Chinese and a six-pack and we can talk while we eat?"

"Sounds good," Max agreed. "Dani, I'm going to lie down in your office until the food gets here. You know what I like."

A few hours later, everyone was gathered in Dani's office, talking, laughing, and crying about everything that had transpired on the Halloween Night of '93. McGee felt a sense of peace wash over him. He had found the answers he needed. He had come to accept that his memories of being Thackery Binx were stuck with him forever. He also knew that if he ever needed to talk about it, he had three new friends to help him with it.
