Fable IV: The Retold Chapters
"The race to save Albion has begun and the fate of it lies in the hands of a new generation. Our story takes place in New Bowerstone City, once known as Bowerstone Market this city has much changed it is now the leading example of this century technology the wealthy lives here now and what was once known as Bowerstone Castle is now the capitol where the new dictator Lord Tirich lives.
This man has caused much change in Albion and much pain, Albion has fallen into the hands of another tyrant, with the help of his vice President Reaver, the two enforce their laws. The people lost all hope and heroes are now all gone. It is here in the city that fate will now rest on the shoulders of new heroes."
Chapter One: To Change a world
In the Bowerstone Market District a hooded figure walked along the streets, looking to the sky they watched the rain fall down from the sky, it had been a long time since it stopped raining. It was like a curse had fallen on the city, no sun light to share its warmth.
Hearing yelling the figure looked over to heavily armored soldiers called the Patrol breaking open a door to a shop, "where is it?!" one of the patrolmen yelled making the hooded figure duck behind a corner peeking out to watch as they dragged a man out into the rain and threw him to the mud.
"Please! I don't know what you're talking about!" the man pleaded.
"We have been surveilling this building for weeks! We know you are sending messages to the Resistance, where is the meet up point old man?!" The captain yelled pointing his gun to the man head.
Clenching his fist the figure wanted to stop this but he could not risk exposing himself or the Resistance location, all he could do was watch, seeing the captain touch an ear piece when he received a call than looked to his men.
"Attention! Vice President is here!" He spoke all standing straight at attention when a car pulled in.
Stepping out the driver opened an umbrella and opened it going to the passenger door and opening it holding an umbrella over Reaver's head.
Stepping out Reaver stepped out in a very expensive looking white suit, wearing sunglasses the man walked with the driver shielding him from the rain and approached the poor shop keeper.
"Is this the one?" Reaver asked holding out a hand and was handed documents and reports by a patrolman and quickly skim through the pages, "seems legitimate to me. Now my dear chap, aiding the resistance is a very serious crime, punishable by death if I recall."
Pulling out an expensive white and gold gun we spun it in his hands before pointing the barrel to the man forehead, "perhaps if you give us something to work with, then just maybe we can overlook the deathly nasty business and skip to the jail sentencing, perhaps with good behavior and rehabilitation you can be released back into Albion, that is if you be a good lad and sing."
Gulping the shop keeper closed his eyes, took a breath before he spoke, "I'd rather die than give you anything you cowardly swine!"
Spitting on Reaver boot the man slammed his fist splashing mud on Reaver new suit making the man usually cocky appearance frown in annoyance, "I hate the stubborn ones."
Not speaking another word Reaver shot the man dead, the shopkeeper falling over limp into the mud painting the stone road in blood, with Reaver putting away his gun and heading back to his car, "clean up this filth and rip this store apart!"
"Yes sir!" The Patrolmen all said in unison saluting and waiting for Reaver car to drive away before going into the store to search for clues.
Letting out a sigh the hooded figure walked down the alley towards the Bowerstone Industrial District where all the Reavers factories were filled with workers all pushing their bodies to the point of exhaustion some having not slept for several days.
Entering a homeless area in the docks the figure descends the stairs to a tent that was placed in front of a closed off gate, sitting at the entrance a homeless looking woman sat with an empty can in front of her.
Pulling a coin from his pocket the figure leaned down dropping the coin in the can and saying to the woman, "lovely day, isn't it?"
Looking around the woman nodded allowing the young man to enter her tent and enter the gate into the swears, quietly closing the gates behind him where the woman put up a wood board over the door allowing the figure to walk down a familiar tunnel.
This was the entrance to the Bowerstone Resistance, the members had to take precautions to ensure those who enter wouldn't expose the group, the first being a password phase to gain entry through the first door.
Approaching a closed down gate the boy pulled out a beat-up old pistol from his pocket knocking on the bars in a tune, this being a second password.
The gate the lifted allowing the boy to enter before the gate slowly closed behind him allowing him to enter the New Bowerstone Resistance Base, walking down the hall he passed several rooms, one on the left filled with weapons the other on the right with crates of food.
Entering a large area, the boy saw men and women all around, some watching tv monitors closely, some listening to radios and some by makeshift computers typing down what they learn. All of them gathering useful leads and intel for the resistance.
One man was lifting a crate when he spotted the hooded boy, "oh! About bloody time you got here! The boss is looking for you."
Removing his hood, the young man revealed himself to be a much older Connor, his messy brown hair tied in a ponytail that hung behind his head. He now had a scar on the end of his left eyebrow, had the blade that gave him this scar been a little closer he would have lost an eye.
"Yeah, I'm looking for him too, I got some bad news," Connor spoke walking deeper into the base into a war room where several people were gathered around the map table.
"I'm telling you, Reaver up to something big! Shipments have been going into the Industrial District for months, from thermal reading it's live animals, the bloody bastard doing some kind of animal testing in there," a woman spoke.
Approaching the table, a much older Seth Finn, wearing a sleeveless brown hoody decorated with some old army uniform décor. His dreads now styled in a short faux fade, he moved some of his blonde strands of hair from his right eye, narrowing his eyes to the updated map.
Both he and Connor were adults now, now both twenty-one it seems like yesterday when the two children ran away from the orphanage, they both grew up in and made the old base their home.
Seth good on his word became leader of the New Bowestone Resistance, perhaps it was in his blood, or maybe destiny, whatever the reason what started out as just him and Connor grew in numbers.
All who joined, fighting to end the tyranny that had fallen upon Albion, with Ben Finn cutlass attached at his side Seth gave the handle a tap with his finger looking up when he saw Connor enter the room.
"About bloody time you got here, what you do? Get a job? Buy a house?" Seth asked with a raised eyebrow having thought his friend would have been back hours ago.
"We have a new problem, Jacob's shop been compromised, the patrol ripping apart his shop, Reaver killed him," Connor spoke making some of the people at the table gasp in shock.
"Oh no! Not Jacob! That poor man," a red head girl named Lizzie spoke.
"He didn't tell Reaver anything, so were safe for now but now we know they're watching the Shopping District very closely now," Connor sighed approaching the table.
Letting out a sigh Seth spoke, "he died protecting the cause, his death will not be in vain. Connor, I have a job for you, if you are up for it, my old chum."
"Want me to check out the Industrial District?" Connor asked having overheard the conversation when he entered the room.
"That's right, either Reaver using these animals for cruel experiments or they're livestock for feeding something else, either way we need to know what is happening before we can decided to blow up the building," Seth spoke crossing his arms.
"Then what?" Lizzie asked getting Seth attention, "how long are we going to keep fighting and living in the swears like rats? Aren't you tired of fighting?"
"We've been over this Liz, as long as there is a corrupt leader ruling Albion I will keep fighting till Albion people are free to be happy without the fear of someone kicking open their door or being taxed to the point of homelessness," Seth spoke seeing Liz frustration, they had been fighting this fight for years and it seems they were getting nowhere.
"One day you're gonna get us all killed Seth!" Lizzie growled leaving the room.
"No one forcing you to stay Liz! You are free to leave any time," Seth called back his attention drawn away upon hearing someone land on the rafters above.
"Greetings Hobbe Sniffers!" Ginjer the Gnome spoke jumping down and landing on the map table getting an annoyed glare from the members in the room.
"Remind me again why we can't shoot this thing?" a man asked looking to Seth who was pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Old family honor that cursed me that's why," Seth sighed looking to the gnome, "what you got for me?"
"Your favorite gnome got the goods for you ya twats! I wasn't able to enter the building I was able to see that Reaver is at the lab as we speak, must be something big if he paying a visit to his lab," Ginjer spoke.
"Seems our worries are right, I'll make my way there, hopefully the sewers will provide me passage under the factory," Connor spoke loading a gun.
"Wait," Seth spoke approaching a room where a recruited blacksmith was repairing swords looking up and tossing a cutlass towards Seth who caught it by the case it was held in.
"Finally! How my baby looking?" Connor asked approaching and taking the cutlass from Seth pulling it from its sheath and sighed at how dull the blade looked, "damn, she nearly at her end."
"We're running out of material for basic weapon repairs, gotta do with what we can do but I am looking out for any source of materials we can use for the base," Seth spoke watching Connor attached his blade to his side.
"Ginjer, wanna see what mayhem we can cause?" Connor asked watching the gnome walk pass towards her makeshift room.
"Hard pass, I did my job for today, now I am gonna watch me some good ole humiliating videos," Ginjer smirked.
"You're such a menace," Connor sighed leaving the war room.
"You be careful out there Connor! We can't afford to lose you too, that's an order!" Seth called after his friend watching his friend hold up a thumbs up before leaving.
Leaving the base Connor pulled up a hood and made his way to the Industrial area of New Bowerstone. Climbing to the roof of a nearby building Connor pulled out a small pair of binoculars peeking through to spot Reaver limo was indeed in front of the main Industrial building followed by a large van where he could see patrol unloading a very large cage.
"What on earth are those cages for?" Connor whispered unable to see through any of the tinted windows.
Putting away his binoculars Connor recalled that the swears lead under all the industrial district, surely there would be a way inside from directly below.
Quickly sliding down the ladder Connor made his way into a alley where he approached a swear lid, looking around to make sure the close was clear he used a wrench to pry open the lid.
Climbing down he slid the lid close and climbed into the darkness below where he pulled out a flashlight an illuminated the dark tunnel.
Putting in a ear piece he used a burner phone to dial another burner phone used by Seth, where Seth put in his own ear piece before answering, "you in?"
"Not yet, I'm entering through the swears, ugh! Yup smells like they been really working hard lately there is a very potent odor down here," Connor spoke grunting in disgust at the stench that lingered.
"We may lose connection, the service in these swears are rubbish," Seth spoke while Connor walked down the swears seeing a faint light in the distance followed by multiple laughter for several creatures.
"Damn, Hobbes are down here, figures Reaver's repulsive aura attracted these vile creatures here," Connor spoke reaching to his side and drew his sword, "I'll have to dispatch them quickly, gun fire down here may alert someone."
"Don't underestimate them Connor, they maybe small but they make up their size with their sheer numbers," Seth warned.
"Don't worry about me Seth, I got this," Connor spoke approaching the light closer where he peeked around the corner to see several Hobbes around a campfire.
On the fire above was a skewer of what appeared to be rats and a poor cat, laughing the Hobbes waited for their meat to cook while Connor observed thinking of how to go about the situation.
'If I'm careful and watch my footing I could probably sneak by and avoid a confrontation, if I am being chased when I am gone with my investigation I could use these Hobbes,' Connor thought looking at the blade in his hand, 'or I could put these poor souls out of their misery.'
Thinking on it Connor snuck by staying in the shadows watching his footing as to not alert the Hobbes of his presences glancing over Connor saw they were too busy laughing at something the other did to notice he had snuck by and continued to make his way under the main industrial building.
A.N. Time to answer a few question, this much like the Fable Anniversary Game is a Remake of my original Fable IV story, you will see that the story has much changed as have some of the heroes. Picture it like Dead Space / Resident Evil Remake where it the same story but there been a few changes here and there wiht some major changes all here and there.
If you are interested to see the full illustration of the classic heroes plus the new heroes you will get to meet you can find the images directly on my NewGrounds account under the same user name I use here! You will see I also changed the names of some of the heroes example Kyle to Kyler, Madison to Mika.
No I will not do any Dragonball stories, yet, maybe, I am undecided on that.
