Olivia had been surprised when she found Nick Amarro in her office. It had already been a few years since they last saw each other in person only able to communicate through text and video calls due to the distance and hectic schedules.

Nick explained what he was currently doing for work and about wanting to reopen a closed case due to him believing the man convicted for the crime was innocent. He explained how he had come about this case and about a well known crime author who helped solve cold cases and how he in turn had found this particular case.

Even though the case was closed, it didn't hurt to look into it especially if the man that had been sitting in jail for close to twenty years was innocent.

Nick explained that the author wanted to meet with her and talk about the case. That's when Burton had walked into her office a couple days earlier.

Surprised was an understatement. Flabbergasted was a better term to describe her feelings.

It had been over three decades at this point since she had last spoken to or heard from him. She tried to ignore her racing heart and the sliver of attraction that ran through her body. He was still an attractive man, much older now but his clear blue eyes were the same.

He still held a kind of hold on her. Every time he spoke she hung on to every word, allowing herself to be charmed. He was single, she was definitely single and now there was no Serena to keep them apart.

She learned his side of the story and how her mother kept them apart. A part of her never forgave her for tearing them apart and trapping Olivia there with her.

So when he kissed her and asked her up for a nightcap she finally took her chance. Lucy was staying overnight since Olivia didn't know how long work would run. So she could spend the night if she wanted.

As they were about to enter the hotel, they heard tires screeching and horns honking about a block from where they were. They turned their heads to look, an uneasy feeling coming over her.

Her first instinct was to turn and run to the scene but Burton stopped her by gripping her arm a little tighter.

"I didn't hear a crash so they must've avoided hitting anything."

She turned back to look at him furrowing her brow slightly, "yea, I guess you're right. Let's get that drink." She smiled up at him as they moved inside. She still couldn't shake the uneasy feeling but chalked it up to nerves for what was going to happen.

Now Olivia was laying naked in Burton's bed covering herself up as much as possible as she felt awkward. Burton was in the bathroom getting rid of the condom and cleaning himself up. For some reason she still had the uneasy feeling ever since hearing the tires screeching.

But this was New York, it was an almost hourly occurrence to hear tires screeching, horns honking, people yelling, and so many other sounds that came with living in the city.

Burton went to the mini bar in his room making them drinks. Olivia took that opportunity to text Lucy to check in on her and Noah. Hoping that the uneasy feeling would pass when she got an update.

Burton was talking on and on about something but she couldn't focus on the conversation. She was thinking back about their recent activities. No heat burned in her stomach, her cheeks didn't flush. No, the sex was ok.

He couldn't find her clit and just ended up rubbing her left labia... even AFTER she moved his hand where it was supposed to be.

What was it with men? It's literally in the same spot on every woman. That had frustrated her.

Then the actual sex wasn't much better. Their rhythym was off like they couldn't get in sync. Whenever she started to feel something he changed it up. At least she wasn't horny anymore, nope he killed that.

Apparently men didn't get better with age. They were still selfish and didn't care about pleasing the women they slept with.

Burton was now facing her, a scotch in his hand. Her mind immediately went to him and her heart gave a strong pang of pain.

NOPE. She wasn't going to think about him. She was literally in front of Burton. She just had sex with the guy for christ's sake. Thankfully, she was a seasoned pro at masking her feelings. Burton had no idea what was going through her head as a small smile was plastered on her face.

She noticed with annoyance he hadn't gotten her a refill of her wine. Oh well she thought, she had to drive home since there was no way she was spending the night.

She was trying to come up with an excuse when her phone started ringing. Looking at the screen she saw that it was Lucy. Her savior.

With that she got dressed and kissed Burton goodnight. She could give him another chance. He was a decent kisser and the first time between people is always awkward...right?
