Planet Earth... It's made of about thirty percent land, but the rest of it is comprised of water. The sea can be a harsh mistress, so they say. You never really know what happens out there, and it can easily go from calm and relaxing to quite dangerous. That's what some certain individuals are about to learn. It has been nearly nine years since the battle with MaloMyotismon. Of course, the human world and the digimon's world are still at odds with each other. Also, the digidestined aren't kids anymore. They had to grow and move on with their lives. That's what's going on now as most of them are in college or have graduated from there. Yolei is running the digital network for Izzy. Ken has decided to go into law enforcement. T.K. is working on becoming a novelist. Kari is studying to be a teacher. Cody is working for law school to become a lawyer. Finally, Davis is working on opening his own ramen cart. Each one of them is working on heading towards their own career. They all seem to have grown, but there are some things that might stay the same and just simply mature. A couple things come to mind when those six think of that. While attending the same university, they all managed to maintain their friendship...despite a few things.
"Hey, Kari." T.K. said as he came over. "Thanks for letting me borrow these notes. They were quite a help." He said as he returned some notes to Kari.
"No problem." Kari said as she took them back. "Hey, have you seen Davis?"
"We had the same accounting class, but I couldn't talk to him that often." T.K. said. "You worried about something?"
"Well... You know how things have been for the past couple years." Kari said. "We both know he wasn't exactly okay with..." She made it clear once she grabbed his hand. That's right. The two of them have been dating for the past couple years. That's what has changed.
"It's been a couple years. He's probably over it by now." T.K. said. "I get that it wasn't easy for him, but he really can't be that upset about it." He figured and Kari thought he was right. It's been a couple years. "Hey, here comes Ken. He would know." Both of them looked and saw Ken was coming.
"Hey, guys." Ken said.
"Hey, Ken. How are things coming for you? How are your studies coming? Are you ready to join the force?" T.K. asked.
"Almost." Ken said as he was a little excited.
"Ken, have you seen Davis?" Kari asked.
"Actually, here he comes now." Ken said. They all looked and saw Davis coming down the halls and was...reading a book. "Hey, Davis." He greeted.
"Hey, guys." Davis said as he didn't seem to care and just brushed past them.
"Davis...? Is everything okay?" T.K. said. They were rather concerned about how he was feeling since he was actually reading a book. Davis turned to them and wanted to act like everything was fine, but it wasn't. However, he had to put up the act.
"I'm fine. I just got to finish studying for the upcoming finals, but I think I'm going to hit the soccer field to blow off some steam later." Davis said. Kari and T.K. figured that was all that was going on with him. It would make sense since it won't be long until they have to take on the world as adults. "I've got to go." He said as he didn't want to stick around.
"That's probably all that's going on with him. He's fine." T.K. said with Kari agreeing, but Ken knew better.
"Not quite. He only goes to the soccer field to blow off steam, but not from school-related stress." Ken mumbled. The thing that stayed the same was Davis' feelings for Kari. He's had them since they were kids. That hasn't really changed. In fact, they seem to be even stronger, and he's been acting more mature about it. That's why seeing Kari and T.K. together is hard for him.
...
T.K. and Kari
"Okay, I don't think I can take anymore studying." T.K. said as he and Kari finished up another study session in his own room with the two of them sitting together. "I need to take a break."
"Good idea." Kari said as she leaned against him. "So, how is that novel of yours coming?"
"Pretty good." T.K. said. "Although, I'm looking forward to some rest and relaxation. That's going to be coming up soon, and we'll have nothing, but fun." He said as he put his arm around her and Kari felt so comfortable with him.
"You think Davis is going to be okay?" Kari asked.
"You still thinking there's something bugging him?" T.K. said.
"I don't know... Maybe I'm just missing how he used to act." Kari said. "We're almost done with school, going to be entering the world as adults, and it's a whole new life ahead for all of us. I guess I just miss how things were and it's all just hitting me now."
"I get it. I miss the old days myself when things seem a lot simpler. Then again, nothing about our lives were simple." T.K. said. "Still, you and I will be together and face it like we always have." Kari certainly liked the sound of that as she gave him a quick kiss and was looking forward to it.
"Knock, knock! There's no sock on the door! Are you two decent in there?!" They heard someone on the other side of the door, and they knew who it was. Kari was really happy when she opened the door and saw it was Yolei.
"Yolei!" Kari called as the two of them hugged each other.
"You're back from India already? We weren't expecting you for a while." T.K. said.
"You guys invited me for a cruise ride around. No way am I taking the chance of missing that." Yolei said. "Are you guys excited for it?"
"You bet we are." T.K. said. That's right. They're all taking a cruise ride to celebrate. A lot of college students have been working and studying hard together. That's why some of them are going on a luxury cruise to celebrate their accomplishments and will be riding around for the next week or so. After so much studying and working, they get to party.
"I still can't believe we managed to get on a cruise ride." Yolei said. "Thanks so much for inviting me and Cody."
"Of course. It might be hard for all of us to be together ahead, but that's why we should all go for this." Kari said.
"Who was it again that made this possible for us?" Yolei questioned.
"I believe it was this girl named Mina Takenowa that goes to school here." T.K. said. "She's a pretty cool girl. I've seen her around a little, but I haven't got the chance to know her so well, but I think she's tight with Davis. Her family has a few connections to people who work on the cruise and helped us get on board."
"Well, I am buying that girl a drink for this." Yolei said. There was something else that Yolei wanted to talk to Kari about, but they can't have girl talk with a boy around. "T.K., would you mind that I take Kari with me? I want to have a little girl talk with her."
"Not at all. Make yourself comfortable." T.K. said as he got up. "I've got something I need to do anyway. I'll see you later." He let himself out and let the two have their time in his own room.
"So, what's up? What did you want to talk to me about?" Kari asked.
"You know what." Yolei said with her smirking. "Things between you and T.K. have been doing rather well. I mean, look at right now. He's letting you stay in his room. A guy allowing a girl in his inner sanctuary without him is a pretty big step."
"Yolei." Kari laughed as she thought Kari was being silly. "I know you and Ken have a thing going on, but that doesn't really make you an expert on boys."
"Wanna bet?" Yolei teased. "Things between you two seem to be great, but what are you going to do about your future? Are you two going to live together? You think he'll ever pop the big question for you?"
"Yolei, I think you're getting a little too ahead of yourself. Honestly, T.K. and I haven't really talked about that? Have you with Ken?" Kari asked.
"No, but that's because he's going into law enforcement. That takes time and focus." Yolei said. "You and T.K. are another matter."
"I think you've seen too many romance movies." Kari teased.
"Fine. Don't tell me." Yolei said. "Don't get me wrong. I really like Ken; he's handsome, kind, smart, and more; but I have to admit that T.K. is quite the guy himself. That's why I have to ask you something. How is he on a more intimate level?" She questioned as she gave Kari a wink.
"Yolei!" Kari squealed as she couldn't believe Yolei actually asked that.
"What?! We're not kids anymore. We're bright young adult women. We can talk about this stuff." Yolei claimed. She's got a point. They're not kids anymore. They all have been exploring more "adult" and "intimate" scenarios. Bottomline, most of their childhoods are gone.
"Well... He's... T.K. is..." Kari tried to say something, but she was getting all giddy, flushed, and couldn't stop grinning. That was telling Yolei all she wanted. "Yolei, please. This is a little embarrassing."
"Fine. Don't tell me. That look on your face is all I need to know." Yolei said as she loved to tease Kari. However, it's not as simple as Yolei might think. Yes, T.K. and Kari have been together for a while. They have been exploring a more...intimate side to each other. Not being kids anymore, they have come to see each other as adults. However, there was something Kari wouldn't say. T.K. and Kari have known each other since they were kids, but it makes those positions they're in a little awkward. It's sometimes a little strange when you find yourself in an adult scenario with someone you've known since you were a child, but they managed to pull through with it. Plus, there's something else. Kari really likes T.K. They're happy together, have a good connection, and hardly any problems or disagreements. So, why does it feel like there's something missing?
...
Davis
After doing some studying himself, Davis hit the soccer field to blow off some steam and let out some stress just like he said. Davis once played the game because he loved the sport, but it's different now. He still loves the game, but he doesn't really play on a team anymore. These days, he's just been playing on his own for this very reason. It's a great way for him to release some pent-up anger or whatever, and he's been feeling that lately. He kicks the ball as hard as he could and it smashes right into the net. He's been at this for a while now as he worked up a good sweat with him breathing hard. The reason he's out here isn't because of all the studying. It was because seeing the girl he is possibly in love with is now dating a guy he's been jealous of for a long time. Do you know how hard that can be for him? He wishes things could have gone differently. He even wishes he could just turn these feelings off and just accept it, but for whatever reason, he just can't. Ken saw him go at it and felt bad for him. He's really the only one that gets how Davis really feels and wishes he could help him like how Davis has helped him.
"Are you sure you don't want to try and go pro? You loved playing this game, and you still got the skill." Ken said as he came over. "At this rate, you could kick the ball right through the goalie like it was a cannonball."
"If I did that, I probably be blackballed from soccer." Davis joked. "They're strongly against murdering the competition; and how would it look that soon-to-be officer gave me that idea?" At least those two broke the ice with a laugh.
"You want to talk about it?" Ken asked as he got serious. "I know seeing Kari and T.K. together still bothers you."
"What's really to talk about?" Davis questioned. "She's made her choice, and I have to live with this pain for the rest of my life."
"Davis, you know that isn't true." Ken said.
"Well, I can't seem to help how I feel." Davis admitted. "I tried to let it go. I tried to move on and accept what has happened, but I just can't. I don't know why, I just can't." He was frustrated about the whole thing with him kicking the ball really hard.
"Maybe you just need to meet someone else. You seem to have a few fans." Ken said. He pointed to the side and they saw a few girls gawking at Davis. "They seem to like you."
"More like they just like what they see." Davis said. "Maybe it would have been different if it was just a simple crush, but it's not. I've been crushing on Kari since I was a kid. After all these years, those feelings haven't gone away, and I've tried. Heck, I even gave up my virginity to try and help me move on."
"Didn't need to know that last part." Ken said. "Look, I get it. When I lost my brother, I was filled with guilt and sadness about it, and those feelings still haven't gone away. Sometimes, we just can't help how we feel because a feeling strong enough will always be there. However, you helped me with that, and you know I'll help you."
"I know, but right now I just want to be left alone." Davis said. Ken understood and didn't want to push his friend. So, he just let him be.
"You're still coming to the cruise, aren't you?" Ken questioned.
"Yeah. I still got to try and live my life." Davis said. At least he's doing that and not letting feelings hold him back.
...
Later
Davis has been out all day. He had a lot of frustration to get out, and he kept at it until dusk. He worked out quite a sweat. He finally finished and tried to dry himself off, but he really needed a shower now. Even after all that, he still feels tormented by the thoughts of Kari and T.K. together.
"Woo! I thought for sure your leg was going to fly right off. You do know that we have a public gym, don't you? There are other exercises you can try." Davis saw he was now met with a young beautiful woman with long blonde hair and was currently dressed in appealing workout attire.
"Hey, Mina." Davis said. Mina Takenowa, a fellow classmate that's smarty, beautiful, and a lot of fun to be around. She and Davis met around Davis' first year in college. She's studying to be a vet, and she and Davis seem to get along rather well.
"Are you sure you're not going pro?" Mina teased.
"Ken already said that joke." Davis said. "What are you doing here dressed like that?"
"Well, unlike you, I actually used the public gym." Mina said. "I was getting a good exercise myself when I saw you at work yourself. You're only out here when you try to blow off some stress and tension. What's the problem?"
"What do you think?" Davis questioned.
"Kari and T.K. again?" Mina said as she knew him that well. She figured because she could relate. "I get it. I've been wanting T.K. since I first laid eyes on that boy."
"That's what I like about you, Mina. You're direct, but you know how to control yourself." Davis said. "If T.K. heard you say that, he wouldn't know what to think. If anything, it would bring Kari and T.K. closer. You probably scare them off."
"Look who's talking." Mina said. "Speaking of talking, you want to talk about it now?"
"What's really to talk about?" Davis questioned. "She's into him, some people thought they would be together, now they are, and it seems like that's that because anything I try to do will just make me look like a complete jerk where I could lose my friends."
"Don't go that far." Mina said. "I get how you feel. I wish I could be with T.K. He's got a way with words, he's sweet, and I've seen how he is. That boy..." She gazed off to dreamland for a minute, but snapped back to reality. "Sorry. The point is I get that it's hard, but try to hold your hopes up. They could break up or something else will happen."
"Maybe, but that's rather selfish of me." Davis said. "I just can't help how I feel. Anger at them, anger at myself for feeling this way... I just have all these feelings that I can hardly take it!" He said with him raising his voice and getting frustrated again. Mina felt really bad for him and wanted to help.
"Well... Wanna have sex?" Mina just came out and said.
"What?!" Davis said as he didn't expect that.
"You're frustrated, I'm feeling a little horny, we're both not happy with how things are; seems like a great way to get out some emotion." Mina said. Davis wasn't really sure what to think. Sure, Mina is a beautiful young lady, but should he really? "Look, I'll be honest. You're pretty good looking yourself, Davis. You got a nice bod, fun attitude, and I think you're fun in general."
"But?" Davis questioned.
"I'm not into you that way. It would just be physical pleasure." Mina said. "It would be a great way to get some tension out. What do you say?"
"I... I'm not sure... I'm not sure if it's really going to help." Davis said as he was still baffled by how direct she was.
"Okay. Well, I'm going to use the gym showers, where no one else is around since it's late." Mina said as she left. "I need a nice hot shower for my sweaty body. Let me know if you change your mind." She was really trying to tempt him. In his defense, he is a guy and this is a natural desire that all beings have.
...
The Shower
Mina hit the shower in the gym, where no one else was around. She turned on the hot water and let the water flowed down her as she felt relieved and relax. As for Davis, he actually took her offer. He isn't exactly a stranger to this. He stripped down and join her in the stall. Since no one was around, nothing would really happen. Once he was inside, she turned to him with Davis actually kissing her, both of them holding their bodies close to each other. Skipping foreplay, Davis lifted her off the floor and pinned her to the wall so that he could "pierce" her. It quickly got steamier in there as things got hot between those two. The two of them made-out with each other as Davis pushed his pelvis against her. With what Mina was feeling, she's starting to think that Kari is missing out.
