The vast expanse of dark space, often seen as a calm and peaceful place free from chaos and noise, is about to change.
Right now, a mysterious entity, glowing with a bright red energy, speeds through the emptiness, having already passed several planets in just moments. Its path, which was originally directed toward the far reaches of the solar system, suddenly shifts as it veers off course and collides with a massive comet. This crash sends a huge shockwaves through the quiet space.
Amidst the scattered remnants of the comet, which had just been torn apart moment earlier, a striking dark red figure drifted through the void. It was unmistakably Sentry, his long, dark hair and cap flowing gently in the vacuum of space. His piercing red eyes scanned the vast emptiness, searching intently for something.
After a moment of gazing, he finally spoke, his voice barely above a whisper, as if addressing the cosmos itself, "I believe this location will serve my purpose," he declared, and with that, the glow in his eyes faded.
Sentry had come to a troubling realization after reading both Homelander's and Queen Maeve minds ——the universe around him was not his own. The reasons that brought him to this strange universe or dimension were still a mystery to him However, one thing was clear in his mind: he longed to return to where he belonged.
With that in mind, he left earth and traveled to the farthest corners of the solar system, fueled by the belief that he could create a dimensional rift. This rift would be his gateway, a bridge to navigate the vast space and ultimately guide him back to his home.
"I really hope this works; otherwise, I'm going to be stuck here," Sentry murmured quietly, his voice almost a whisper as he raised his hand in a slicing gesture.
In a flash, his hand came down, and a crack split the emptiness in front of him, unveiling a stunning vortex of swirling colors that appeared to spin endlessly. Without a moment's pause, Sentry placed his hands on either side of the rift, using all his strength to expand the opening, resolute in his goal to make it wide enough for him to slip through.
——However.
"Stop what you're doing, it won't work anyway."
In an instant, the rift exploded from within, sending Sentry flaying backward with immense force, then the rift closed on it self as if it had never existed.
However, the vanishing of the rift mattered little to Sentry; his attention was entirely on the sudden voice that just echoed.
"Show yourself, you who spoke!" Sentry commanded, his voice resonating with authority as a surge of crimson energy and dark lightning crackled around him, indicating his readiness for battle as he took up a defensive stance.
" I have no bad intentions towards you, just so you know, and if you look up, you'll see me, Bob Reynolds."
As he looked at the speaker, his eyes widened in surprise, filled with disbelief, even though he didn't fully recognize the figure.
Above him, in the vastness of space, a huge silhouette hovered, and all he could see were those intense eyes glowing with a bright blue energy, locked onto him. Just as the thing said, he sensed no hostility from this enormous presence, but he stayed on high alert, not ready to let his guard down just yet.
" You know, I kind of saw this coming, and while I get where you coming Bob, I really wish you would just quit trying to read my mind. It's just not going to happen!"
Indeed Sentry was genuinely trying to read the thoughts of the entity in front of him, but it seemed like every mental door he attempted to open was tightly closed, leaving him feeling frustrated and disconnected.
So rather than continue to push against those barriers, he chose a more direct method and simply asked, "So, who are you exactly, and what do you mean it won't work?"
When Sentry posed his question, he was met with nothing but silence, as if the entity before him was weighing its options on whether to respond.
After a moment of contemplation, the being finally exhaled deeply and revealed, —— "I go by the name of the watcher. My eternal duty is to observe and document the significant happenings across the cosmos. It's a burden to see so much yet never take part... that is, until a certain event changed everything."
"What does a multiversal being like you want from me?" Sentry exclaimed, realizing he was right to be on guard; being in the presence of such a powerful entity was anything but comforting.
"To put it plainly, the reason I was compelled to come out was because of you, Bob Reynolds," the watcher stated, placing particular emphasis on the word "you." Sentry winced at the remark but managed to maintain his composure.
"——Have I messed up again?" Sentry whispered, his voice barely above a murmur as the crimson glow surrounding him faded, along with the ominous black sparks that danced in the space.
He took a moment to collect his thoughts before adding, "I must have done something without realizing it... just let me know what it was so I can understand the extent of my mistake this time."
Sentry's feelings shifted from cautious unease to a profound fear regarding the truths the Watcher might reveal. He couldn't escape the persistent worry that when the Watcher finally spoke, a surge of regret would engulf him, forcing him to face the potential consequences of his actions that he Don't know yet.
"Bob, it looks like you're getting ahead of yourself. What I'm about to share isn't about any actions you've taken; it's more about the things that will happen when you get back to your world"
Sentry's anxiety and fear were unchanging with the Watcher's word's; he knew that as long as the situation was tied to him, it would lead to trouble.
A wave of urgency surged through him, pushing him to face the Watcher head-on. "Cut the cryptic talk and the games," he insisted, his voice firm despite the chaos inside. "Just tell me what's going to happen."
"Instead of telling, I will show you," he said, and in a flash, a brilliant light surrounded Sentry, only to disappear just as quickly.
What came next was a dramatic change; the vibrant stars and planets that once filled the space had completely vanished, leaving behind a vast expanse of darkness.
Though the stars were still there, they now appeared as tiny, distant and far far away pinpricks of light, lonely in the void.
The scene was further transformed by the presence of scattered rocks and clouds of dust drifting aimlessly around him.
Sentry turned his eyes toward the watcher, who continued to gaze down at him.
"I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to show me, Watcher, but there is nothing to see here...literally " Sentry said, his expression a blend of confusion and discomfort. Even with the desolation around him, a troubling feeling tugged at him, hinting that something was off in this place.
Unbeknownst to him, the Watcher's next words would soon confirm the unease that had started to settle in Sentry's thoughts.
"You should know, because we exist in the same place that planet Earth once inhabited, a space where all the planets and a large number of stars in the galaxy have been diminished to nothing but dust," the watcher said calmly.
As this shocking words sank in, sentry's body tensed, and he looked around again, struggling to process the staggering revelation he had just encountered.
"——NO!...It's hard to imagine; this situation could never happen because there are..."
"The Avengers? Absolutely, you and your team put in an incredible effort, but the threat you faced was unlike anything you had ever encountered. In this timeline, Earth was under attack from a powerful alien invasion led by Galactus, Knull, and ultimately Thanos. These three formidable beings arrived on the planet with massive armies at their disposal, and you, along with the Avengers, stepped up to the challenge with extraordinary bravery. You fought fiercely, giving every bit of strength you had to the battle—truly, you left it all on the field. However, that was the problem"
"——The problem?"
"The problem is that even though you defeated Galactus, Knull, and Thanos, along with their powerful armies, the victory was not without its price. You poured every bit of your strength into overcoming these giants, but in the process, you lost control of your own powers. This intense surge of power became unmanageable, resulting in a disastrous situation where you destroyed everything around you, leaving no survivors, not even Thor or Hulk, who were unable to resist you...it was the end of all in this timline,—— witness!"
...
" Surrender, Knull; your death is drawing to a close. There is no escape, no hope for survival—this place shall be your final resting place."
"NEVER, IAM KNULL, AND I REFUSE TO BACK DOWN! I WILL NOT BE DEFEATED OR EXTINGUISHED; I AM THE FORCE THAT BRINGS DEATH!"
In a desperate fight for survival, a battered and bruised Knull swings his obsidian blade with ferocity, targeting the head of Sentry, who stands firm and unharmed. In stark contrast to Knull, whose body is marked by wounds and blood, Sentry is soaked in the crimson of others, reflecting his brutality.
"As you wish, now die as your friends died"
With a swift and decisive motion, Sentry intercepted the sword just inches from his head, yanking it from Knull's grip as easily as a parent taking a toy from a child. But Sentry's attack didn't stop there; in a blur of movement that seemed to defy human perception, he wielded the sword with such incredible speed that it appeared to vanish from view. In one smooth arc, he brought the blade down onto Knull's neck, severing it cleanly.
"Hk—!"
As the head detached, it floated away in the moon's low gravity, as they now on the surface of the moon not earth.
"I need to make sure you don't come back from this,"Sentry said, his voice steady and determined.
In the next moment, he took hold of Knull's lifeless body, gripping both the torso and the head with unyielding force. Then, he grabbed the sword, and his eyes blazed with a fierce red light. A swirling mist of crimson, crackling with dark energy, surrounded Knull's remains and the weapon, creating a foreboding scene.
As the ravenous worms devoured the flesh, the process quickened, causing Knull's body to disintegrate into nothingness. Within seconds, both he and the sword had completely vanished, as if they had never existed in the world.
"After countless deaths and respawns, I finally came out on top, defeating them all—... No, no, no, no, no, noNONONONO!"
Sentry's excitement was short-lived, fading almost immediately as he looked down at planet Earth.
"——This can't be..."
What had once been a vibrant sphere of greens and blues, shining beautifully against the vastness of space, now lay in ruins, a stark blackened shell split in two. The barren surface was scarred by massive craters that released ominous clouds of red mist and dark, crackling energy.
The destruction was complete; the planet had become a graveyard, surrounded by the wreckage of shattered spaceships and enormous limbs drifting in the cold void of space, haunting reminders of the catastrophic war that had ravaged this once-thriving world.
"what have you done!?"
The distant rumble of thunder sounded like a foreboding warning, while a voice called out in to him. It was Thor Sentry knew that, but now Sentry opted to disregard the question coming from behind him. His eyes were still locked onto the proof of his biggest mistake.
"I don't know..."
