Chapter 1: A sad beginning
Lily Potter looked down at her daughter in concern, the normally happy and bubbly baby had been staring off into nowhere, though not abnormal for the babe she had been doing it with increasing frequency today interspersed with bouts of panicked crying that could not be stopped until she seemed to forget what she was crying about only for the pattern to repeat. Lily sighed and really looked at her daughter though she looked nothing like her and hames at first glance, what with her slightly wavy pure white hair and golden eyes that seemed to fog over at times, she did have Lily's full lips and James aristocratic face. Sighing again Lily bent down and picked up her daughter hugging her to her chest, it was October 31st xxxx, and her small family SHOULD be out truly enjoying halloween but the threat of Voldermort and the prophecy overshadowing them made it so they could not leave. Just as she left her thoughts an ear shattering BOOM rattled the house.
"Lily it's him, take Haven and run!"
Lily knew in that instant the time had come, her family would perish tonight. Running up the stairs she placed Haven in her crib, kissing her forehead. "Mama loves you Haven."
Realizing she had left her wand downstairs Lily did the only thing she could, she stood infront of Haven's crib and waited…
Chapter 2 : The start of a livable life
Haven Lily Potter-Black knew much for a child of five, though not everything she knew made sense.. She knew it would eventually. How she knew was simple, magic. Though all she could do now was make a light when needed and levitate things around that wasn't what would change her state of being today. No she had a much greater magic then that, she was a seer and a powerful one at that. She could see the future and its diverging paths as well as glimpse past events. A lot of things were to complicated for her five year old mind to understand but not this not her plan. Today was the day she would get her so called family to treat her like a human being and not some.. Creature… they hid away in the cupboard under the stairs. Haven had seen today and it could many ways but the two most prominent paths involved either her continuing to wither away at the Dursleys as the abuse ramped up as the years progressed or she could use her sight to help them and gain a but of freedom and even kindness from the vile people.
"Get up! Get up you lazy wretch!"
Her aunt Petunia's shrill voice cut through her thoughts as an incessant knocking on her cupboard door signaled the start of the day. Taking a deep breath Haven crossed her fingers and hoped beyond hope this would work out, grabbing the ten pound note she had found using her gift and the scrap of paper she had written some numbers down on Haven quickly dressed and slipped both into her dress pockets, then exited her cupboard.
"Took you long enough girl."
Petunia spat before turning and marching towards the kitchen, she had been teaching (or foisting) cooking on Haven for as long as she could remember and by now she knew the drill. Grabbing her rickety stool from its corner Haven began cooking trying to stay in the present to avoid burning herself, a lesson she had learned the hard way. Soon enough the thunderous sound of her uncle coming down the stairs could be heard. Haven quickly plated about one pound of bacon and four eggs onto a plate with some sausages before dutifully placing it in front of her uncle knowing her aunt would serve her 'precious duddykins'. Replacing her stool in the corner Haven stood next to it and waited for her so called family to finish their breakfast. As uncle Vernon took his last bit, pushing his plate away and reaching for the morning paper Haven knew this was her moment, now or never Haven.
"Uncle vernon?"
"What do you want girl?!"
"I have something for you but it comes with conditions"
"WHY YOU LITTLE" UncleVernon was turning purple, she knew she had to explain and fast.
"Its the winning numbers to the lottery, and i have money so you can buy the ticket without wasting your own money"
Uncle Vernon still seemed to be turning purple but at least he was silent for the moment giving Haven a chance to continue.
"You know, i;m different.. I don;t know how (a lie) but i just know things. I promise i;m not lying and when you win this money it will prove it. After that i will continue to help you with things with the.. Power.. I seem to have."
Vernons frist thought was to belt the insolent girl, but his greedy mind eventually overpowered that thought. It was a win win situation for him really, the girl was different. No doubt due to her freaky no good parents, and if she was right well he'd be rich and if she was wrong… this could be the push that finally helped convince pet to let him leave the wretched thing at an orphanage.
"Fine, what are the conditions, girl."
Haven smiled inwardly, it wouldn't do to actually smile when her uncle could see her agter all.
"I want Dudley's second bedroom, adequate meals and i want to be take gymnastics."
Dudley began crying out about his second bedroom while Petunia sputtered about unnatural girls not needing any sort of training but Vernon silenced them both with a wave of his hand. With an almost gleeful look in his eyes Vernon declared the terms acceptable before saying
" If you're lying to me girl.. Well lets just say it won't be a pleasant time for you."
Nodding her head while trying not to shudder at the thought of Vernons plans for her, Haven handed over the ten pound note as well as the scrap of paper with the winning numbers on it, now all there was to do was wait.
Vernon smiled broadly as he wrapped one arm around Petunia while placing his free hand on Dudley's shoulder. As the camera flashed even the fact that that girl.. Haven he supposed would also be in the picture couldn't ruin his good mood. He had WON he was a millionaire now and that meant not only had his status in the neighborhood increased, his status at work had gone up as well seeing as he was now s shareholder in Grunnings stock and owned quite a bit of the company. His mood briefly dimmed as he remembered that little move had been another bit of advice from Haven but seeing as he was currently being interviewed and photographed for a front page feature in the national paper it didn't last long.
Haven was ecstatic she had a room now! One she didn;t share with ll manner of insects and cleaning supplies and one that di not get locked at night. Not only that blut she got to eat what she cooked (she ate healthy portions though having seen herself ending up quite pudgy if she didn't.) As a bonus she was now officially enrolled in gymnastics which had changed a lot of future visions of injuries or even death blows becoming completely harmless or only minor injuries. LIfe was looking up for Haven!
Chapter 3: She can be surprised!
Haven grinned feeling the adrenaline from successfully landing after her bar routine, she was now eight years old and was advancing as fast as she could in her gymnastics training knowing her time at Hogwarts would signal the end of her ability to train and wanting to learn the most she could before she had to rely on the ROR and her own memories and visions to train any further.
Though her life at the Dursleys had changed dramatically to the point she even thought they saw her as family, even if reluctantly, her life outside had not changed much. She was still friendless due to her 'weirdness' as the other kids called her. Her snow white hair and gold eyes definitely didn't help but tt was her tendency to stare off into the unknown as she saw future paths (not that any one knew thats what it was) that kept other kids from approaching her. Thankfully Dudley had taken a shine to his cousin after she had after she had started tutoring him and even convinced him to enroll in brazilian jui jitzu. He was still a big boy but was no longer obese and loved the power he had even if he had stopped most of his bullying tendencies after getting a lecturer about power and responsibility from his master. This all meant that while other kids did not want to be her friend they were still to scared of her cousin to outright bully her.
"Amazing as always Haven."
Haven was brought out of her musings by her coaches praise, she smiled at her and headed towards the changing room stopping suddenly when her vision changed and she saw something that had her quickly texting her aunt she would walk home before changing quickly and nearly sprinting out of the building towards the nearby park. Today was the day, it was finally time to make her first interaction with the magical world, even if it was only a small part and she wouldn't actually be making any human contact… Oh well she was still going to experience magic today. She had progressed by leaps and bounds in what she knew was supposed to be impossible, wandless magic! She also had seen her progress would stagnate if she didn't get some sort of guidance and that just wouldn't do.
Arriving at her destination she quickly pulled up her black hoodies hood, wishing she had masted glamorous but glad she just so happened to have chosen it over the pink one her aunt favored, and held out her right hand and concentrated a quick bang and a flash of purple later the knight bus appeared in all its glory.
Getting on the bus knowing she was in for a ride, Haven realized she had no way to actually pay for her fair. Damnit Haven you're relying on your sight to much you have to remember to plan and think things through before doing them.
"Lost are yah? You can not be more then 6 years old, where be your parents, well nevermind hop on where to young one we will get cha where you need to go!"
Signing in relief Haven whispered leaky cauldron under her breath hoping he would think she lived in one of the alleys side streets and went to take a seat. Grabbing on hard before remembering he had thought she was six.. Six! She knew she would always be short but still she was eight years old thank you very much. THe bus gave a lurch just then they were off.
"Leaky Cauldron"
The bus driver announced and Haven quickly disembarked and made her way through the bar quietly and hopefully without any notice. When she ented the back alley she focused willing her sight to see the pattern needed to enter the alley and thankfully it worked. She had seen an older couple laughing as they pressed the bricks and the thought of such a care free and happy couple made her smile. Tapping the required bricks while focusing on pushing her magic into them THe bricks parted and she got her first in person glimpse of diagon alley for the first time.
Approaching the white marble building she knew to Gringotts Haven was awed by its size and opulence, as she walked she bowed to the guards on duty placing a fist over her heart as she did so. Surprised faces greeted her but they quickly returned to their neutral (rather frightening) appearance. Entering the bank she looked for the shortest queue and waited her turn in silence not even looking around less she draw attention to herself.
"Next"
Swallowing a gulp at the very tall podium in front of her holding a grinnign goblin with very sharp teeth Haven gathered her courage.
"Greetings master goblin, may your gold always flow and your enemies tremble at your feet."
Again she saw surprise flicker across a goblins face before he muttered the reply with a considering look on his face.
"And what does one so.. Young want with gringotts today?"
"I require a lineage test to access my vaults and properties."
Haven stated as firmly as she could knowing goblins did not like nervous people or time wasters who stuttered.
"That will be 10 galleons."
And shit, she had forgotten again about the whole money thing, she really needed to start thinking things through. She quickly thought over everything she had seen about goblins and came up with a response.
"I have money in my vaults to pay that i swear but if i am lying i promise my magic to serve the goblin nation in the mines until the debt is paid."
A light flashed briefly around her while the goblins eyes widened though again he quickly regained composure.
"Very well, lets see if you indeed have what you claim."
Pulling out a piece of parchment and a decorated dagger the goblin told her to cut her palm and let the blood fall upon the parchment for seven seconds. Doing so Haven was not surprised when it started to glow only for it to be snatched away after seven seconds. MIndlessly healing her cut with some wandless magic and a whispered episkey Haven turned her attention the AGAIN surprised goblin.
"My deepest apologies Lady Potter-Black-Peverell. If you would follow me we have some business to take care of."
Now it was Haven's turn to be surprised Peverell? She had never seen anything about being a Peverell before whatever family that was. Dreams of a new more loving family danced in her mind before she came to her sense knowing if that possibility existed she would have glimpsed it at least once. THe rest of the names did not surprise her, Potter of course came from her birth parents white Black had blood adopted her when she was a baby. Shaking her head and filling with curiosity about the new title she followed the goblin deeper into the bank.
