And with a thrust of my arms, in front of my eyes laid the simple yet beautiful town.
Pewter City.
And my eyes were immediately set on the Pewter City Rock Gym.
Since Ash and Misty had somehow already left the forest somehow even though they hate each other more then a dysfunction marriage, so Ash's dumbass already most of defeated Brock either leaving Forrest or Flint as the new gym leader.
If it's Forrest, he'll be inexperienced so hopefully he won't have his overpowered Rhyperior that went toe-to-toe with a Latias, the damn Eon Pokemon. But at the same time, some random Sinnoh trainer had a whole ass Heatran and if Inspector Nurse Joy can have a legendary, so can I!
Any of the Legendary Birds would be great, and I'm pretty sure I have a decent idea on the vague place of where they could be as well.
And along with that to further improve my mood, the Clefairy that I admittingly forgot to bring, decided to come with me as well! Kaiser did a pretty good job translating for me and said she that now that she didn't have to worry about Bulbasaur being to reckless and the other things along the lines of that.
But if Flint is the gym leader...
It'll either be the most fucking moronic moment of my life or, he'll send out Pokemon he used on his journey, making it a bit more tough.
"Hey Samurai, since we're a bit behind, we should probably just snag the Boulder Badge and skedaddle after this. Then we can go through the next few routes, Mount Moon, and then train intensely in Cerulean City, Route 24, and Route 25. There maybe I'll even find another Pokemon," I said, breaking the silence causing Samurai to quickly yelp in surprise.
"Oh, my bad, I was just thinking who is going to.."
Before he could even contemplate finishing his sentence, I saw the opportunity that I had to take. A generational moment.
"Dibs."
"Damn it."
Respect the dib rules.
Always make sure your ready. At all times.
Anyways, as me and Samurai are walking down the street to the Pokecenter, I got a little idea. Why don't I just teach all of my Pokemon, including Clefairy Tera Blast? Tera Blast is decently powered normal type move that every Pokemon can learn. It can also either use a Pokemon's physical power or special attack.
It can also be used a basis for creating new moves. After we heal up our Pokemon, I'll have to purchase a TM for it. Speaking of TM's, there is no reason to buy many TM's unless it's a direct opportunity like Kaiser learning Thunder Punch.
Or is that a Tutor Move? This is the anime though.
Where Geodude get one-shot by Thundershocks. By chunky Pikachu no less!
What were they thinking?
"Hey! We've been at the entrance for a hot minute now but you just sat down and started doing things on your Pokedex. If you keep it up I'll fight the Rock Gym Leader first!" Samurai shouted in the distance, breaking my concentration.
Glancing at my hand I look and the Pokedex to see... Research on how Gym Leaders Blain and Erika train there Pokemon and 'How2 Make Your Pokemon Into Move Tutor' videos?
I've been in the forest for too long.
"Whatever I guess, the dibs goes to ME now," Samurai stated with a laugh.
Until he saw me leaving the place with all of our Pokemon healed up.
THAT's why you don't go on monologues.
Standing at the entrance of the Gym, I couldn't help but shudder in excitement for this battle.
The chump trainers in Viridian were some unprepared and useless I didn't even mention them in the notes, it gave some decent money but not much commitment or excitement from Kaiser entering it and Bulbasaur leaving it.
That's for a completely different story though. Let's focus on peak.
'This had me shitting my pants when I first played LeafGreen with my level 12 Squirtle!' I recall nostalgically.
"Alright, Samurai no time to waste!" I say, kicking the door open with a grin on my face.
There was a creak, coming from the old hinges that probably haven't been oiled in sometime. The place really needs a budget increase because going from Geodude and undertrained Onix into rock-hard powerful Rhyperiors is downright cruel for the Youngster Joeys and Bug Catchers Barry's out there.
"Hey, quiet the pitch black 'I'll catch you off guard!' act. I can see your silhouette," I said, lying right between my teeth. I ain't seen shit!
"Damn it! How does Big Bro do it?"
"Maybe it's because-"
"Quiet Dad! You're ruining my entrance!" A series of voices called out, also signifying the resurgence of the lighting in the gym.
A bead of silence then followed.
The kid standing on a rock, quickly found as Forrest with his father Flint sulking in a corner with a..?
Rain cloud pouring over his head.
For fuck sakes anime logic is so weird in the dumbest possible.
"I'm Forrest! The Rock Type Gym Leader!" He shouted, sending his hands behind him in an exuberant fashion.
"I'm Alex, your challenger!" I yelled back in the same tone.
"Okay but hold up for a second," He responded, pulling up a notebook, reading it for a few seconds and then placing it down, going back to facing me.
"Okay my Dad will be our referee. We will use 2 Pokemon and I, the gym leader, will not be allowed to substitute my Pokemon. Once a trainer has no more Pokemon capable for battle within the 2 Pokemon allowed, the battle is over," Forrest then pulled out a Pokeball and pointed it towards me.
Reading the room, I walked to the challengers box, and also pulled out a Pokeball containing Bulbasaur and followed suite with Forrest's pose.
"I accept those rules!" I respond quickly.
"Alright ref start the countdown," Forrest finished, causing both of us to tense as during our conversation, Samurai went to the stands and released his Pinsir, Scyther, and Butterfree while Flint left his pity party and was already in the field, with his left hand raised.
"Do your best Alex!" Samurai cheered as his Pokemon did the same.
"3!"
"2!"
"1!" He shouted, causing us to began our movement that was completed as soon as he said...
"Battle Begin!" Flint said, slamming his hand down, causing 2 Pokemon to be deployed.
"Go Bulbasaur!" I shouted, fists clenched.
"Graveler, let's give them a show!" Forest commanded, his voice filled with confidence.
Forrest and I locked eyes as we both tossed our Pokeballs in unison. The battlefield erupted with light as the capsules burst open. On my side, Bulbasaur appeared. Across from me, Forrest's first Pokemon materialized, a giant Graveler.
"Graveler, start things off with Rollout!" Forest ordered, thrusting his arm forward.
Without hesitation, Golem tucked itself into a tight, rocky ball and began spinning rapidly, shooting forward like a Cannon-Bolt from fucking Ben 10.
"Bulbasaur, use Leech Seed!" I commanded, turning serious to the incoming battle.
Bulbasaur's bulb twitched, and in an instant, small, seed-like projectiles shot toward the spinning Graveler. The seeds attached themselves to Graveler's rocky surface and immediately began to sprout vines that constricted its movement, slowing it down as the energy from Golem's body started to drain.
"That won't stop us!" Forrest grinned. "Keep going, Graveler!"
Graveler shook off the vines like they were silly string and rolled even faster, picking up momentum again.
"Bulbasaur, use Vine Whip to launch yourself out of the way! Then after that, wrap it's body tightly with Vine Whip and slam it down while finishing the attack with a barrage of Razor Leaf!"
With perfect timing, Bulbasaur extended her vines, latching onto a nearby rock on the field and pulling itself swiftly out of Graveler's path.
Graveler was then quickly cocooned in nature, and in a fast-paced fashion, pressed into the ground and send towards a pile of rock by the completing Razor Leaf, not even giving Graveler a moment to breath.
'Just how I like it,' I smile.
The fact that I haven't even trained with him shows his determination, strength, and love for battle!
What a terrific and wonderful Pokemon!
I wonder how she got her scar?
"Bulbasaur. Stay cautious. He still might be awake. While you're there, use Leech Seed on near his body!" I voice, getting the response of a hard nod from Bulbasaur.
"Graveler, Rock Polish into Rock Tomb and Rollout." Forrest stated causing an explosion of events.
The still form Graveler that at first seemed like it was knocked out began to shine and trapped Bulbasaur into a house of rocks. Before she could send herself into the air again with Vine Whip that's also quickly becoming his signature move, a rock slammed over his last route of escape.
A good plan on his part though. I could see Bulbasaur try to leave using an omni-directional Razor Leaf that started to heavily chip and destroy that rock surrounding him but it was too late.
A damn bowling ball was rolling towards Bulbasaur at Mock 6 and I couldn't do shit to stop it. I could do this though!
"Cover yourself in vines to soften the blow!"
And as the speeding Boulder known as a Graveler hit Bulbasaur's death trap, I could see a yarn ball of green being thrown out of the Rock House.
"Slap one of your vines onto to floor and as your in the air, throw your vine around like a disco ball sending Leech Seed's and Razor Leaf at the Graveler!" I command causing an audible gasp from Samurai that I momently forgot was there.
Leading to a barrage of sharp leaves and energy sucking seeds to hit the Golem pre-evolution, causing it to scream in pain.
"While your in there, use Growth and Ingrain to heal up and continuously make your attacks stronger!" I say in finality.
"No! Wait Graveler use Rock Throw into Stone Edge-" Before he could complete his sentence, a particular Leaf fused with 7 other Razor Leaf into...
A massive Seed Bomb to my exuberance and Forrest's increasing dread as the attack created a large smokescreen, blanketing the area. As the smog cleared, one victor was seen slamming it's limbs onto the floor to exude it's dominance.
My Bulbasaur.
With Graveler sprawled on the floor with it's arms in a Snow Angel, it was clear.
I barely knew him for a day and he's performing like I've been training him WITH Kaiser.
"Graveler has been knocked out. Point to the Challenger! The Gym Leader now must pick a new Pokemon." Flint said glancing at me before focusing his attention on Forrest, who was giving his praise for his Graveler's performance.
"Alright Alex, let's see how your next Pokémon handles this one! Go, Rhyhorn!"
The Pokeball burst open, and a massive Rhyhorn emerged, stomping the ground with its sharp horn and powerful legs.
Reaching for Kaiser's Pokéball, I tossed him onto the field after recalling my monster of a Bulbasaur showering her with the compliments she deserves.
"Kaiser, let's do this!" I called out.
In a flash of light, my Charmander, Kaiser, appeared on the battlefield. Its flame-tipped tail burned brightly.
"Rhyhorn, let's start strong! Use Rock Blast!"
Rhyhorn roared as it stomped the ground, using its horn to hurl chunks of rock toward Kaiser with incredible force. Each boulder flew through the air like a ballistic missile, but I knew Kaiser dodge these attacks for breakfast so I wasn't too worried but was still on guard.
"Kaiser, Quick Attack to dodge now!" I yelled.
In a flash, Kaiser dashed to the side, moving with lightning speed as the rocks crashed into the ground where he had just stood. Kaiser zigzagged across the battlefield, dodging the rocks with ease.
Alright let's turn up the jets!
Turning to glace at Kaiser, he already knew what activities we were up to. Our were thing where we could understand what we were trying to say without saying it. With practice runs from the spars with Samurai, me and Kaiser were able to boost our bond and turn our unpredictability to 100!
With that eye contact Kaiser already knew what to do next.
Kaiser continued his use of Quick Attack to smash it's horn and skull in with a Metal Claw, Slash, Scratch, and Focus Energy combo, hitting the Rhyhorn with a powerful attack making him scream loudly before using what is presumed to be a Horn Attack to keep distance.
"He's tougher than that! Use Rock Polish into a Bulldoze and Smack Down!" Forrest exclaimed confidently.
With a quick series of events, the Rhyhorn was coming at Kaiser quicker than expected.
But Kaiser then used...!?
'A Scary Face?'
Whatever ask questions later I'm in battle!
With another burst of Quick Attack, Kaiser was able to dodge due to Rhyhorn's speed drop and the momentary speed increase of Quick Attack.
Kaiser already knew what I wanted to do and we simultaneously yelled out at the same time. Dare I say... The power of... the bond is helping out?
With a suck in of Kaiser's breath and a cross of my arms, purple wisps of air began to flow out the sides of Kaiser's now closed mouth. That violet mist began to ignite into fire due to it's combination.
This fire was much hotter then any Ember both of us has every seen. Somehow, I know he's learned Flame Burst as well. He even stacked it with Work Up and Focus Energy!
Rhyhorn and Forrest weren't just playing around either. I'm sure he could recognize a final attack when he sees it.
"Use Rock Polish, Harden, and Iron Defense as much as you can and attack with a max power Magnitude and Rollout combo!"
"Kaiser," I yell, catching his attention, making him lock eyes with me, sending a deep message.
"Hit him with a full power... Scorching Blast!"
"Use Ground Burst Cannon!"
Well well well! Look what the cat dragged in? A brand new chapter in what? 12 or 13 days depending on when your seeing this? That's on me since I had tons of homework. I fucking despise homework and school as a whole but it's necessary for finding out what you'd want to do all your life. Also for the people talking about my grammar, I would download a writing assistance but that shit barely works and saps all the personality I spewed on this. And the fact that I just started writing. I'll get better with time and practice so yeah.
Also! Story suggestions, those are still available if you still want to submit something. I also got to ask you guys an important question. Flygon or Garchomp? Which Dragon/Ground type due YOU prefer? Stats, move pools, abilities and all that shit doesn't matter we ain't playing competitive VGC.
By the way, this support has been unreal! Thank you so much! We already are close to 200 followers and 150 favorites! I'm also getting close to 5k views and 35 reviews as well! I love and appreciate you all!
(Reminder, Please check out the Poll and vote, your opinion matters!)
(Note from 9/14/2024: Yes, this fic's name has changed from Pokemon: Made for Greatness to Made For Greatness. It's because of how clustered it looked in my doc manager and I think this looks a lot better combined with the story cover to make it look and sound better. Also, I obviously don't own the image.)
Favorite, Follow and all that other jazz and I'll see you next chapter. Have a great day/night!
