Chapter 1 : The Girl

Well that went well.

Eren was currently sitting beside his newfound friend Cinder on top of a rock near the fence's surrounding the farm it's been a day after he befriended her last night and he's quite happy on how it went and it was quite surprising at how easy it was.

Then again considering the conditions and environment of this place and how it treated her, he guess it's not that surprising on how she is desperate on finding someone to have an emotional connection with.

Besides that, he found the girl to be quite intelligent for someone her age. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity and a hint of sadness, a combination that made Eren feel both protective and intrigued. He wondered what kind of life she had led before ending up here.

"So what do you do when you're not working ?" Eren asked, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled between them after all he was curious and it's better to know more about her.

Not to mention the fact he trying to befriend a child something that he's trying to get used to so it's better for him to be friends with people around his current age so that way he have a better time to blend in with the Society within this world.

Now that he thought about it he guess making him younger is quite beneficial since he doesn't have to deal with things like Passports and Identification something he only learned about thanks to his Brother Zeke and if it wasn't for him fabricating all the necessary documents he might have been immediately be arrested by Marlean Intelligence and get killed.

So in a way i guess i can thank that purple dragon for that.

Cinder looked up at Eren, her eyes reflecting the soft glow of the sun. "When I'm not working, I like to read books. There's always something new to learn , even if I can't see it for myself. Sometimes, I imagine what it would be like to travel and see the world."

Eren nodded, understanding her curiosity. "I used to feel the same way. There's so much out there, beyond what we know."

And that is another thing that he likes about this girl it's her adventurist personality and curiosity and the desire to know many things make him see a part of himself in her like a younger version of him if he was a girl.

Cinder nodded, and she leaned closer to Eren, her voice dropping to a whisper. "You said you used to travel? What was it like?"

Eren hesitated, unsure how much he wanted to share. He knew he couldn't tell her about his past life, about the world he came from. But he also didn't want to disappoint her. He decided to tell her a story, a small fragment of his past, something he could safely share.

"It was…different," he began, choosing his words carefully. "I saw things you can only dream of. Great cities that span across miles, machines that could fly, and people from all over the world, all living together."

'Except for Eldians' Eren thought

Cinder's eyes sparkled with wonder. "That sounds incredible! Did you see the ocean? I've only ever read about it in books."

Eren smiled, the memory of the vast, blue expanse bringing a warmth to his heart. "The ocean is beautiful. It's like a whole other world, full of life and mystery."

He continued to weave a tale, describing the wonders he had seen, carefully avoiding anything that might reveal his true origins. He spoke of bustling marketplaces, towering mountains, and the feeling of freedom that came with exploring the unknown.

Cinder listened intently, her imagination running wild. She asked questions, her voice filled with a childlike innocence that tugged at Eren's heartstrings. He found himself enjoying the conversation, the shared sense of wonder and curiosity bridging the gap between their different worlds.

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting long shadows across the farm, Eren and Cinder continued their conversation. The air grew cooler, and a gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the nearby trees.

"What about you, Eren?" Cinder asked, her voice soft. "What do you like to do when you're not working?"

Eren hesitated for a moment. He wasn't sure what to say. He didn't have any hobbies, not really. He was used to a life of constant War, of always being on the frontline of conflicts. Now, stuck in this world and with his Mother being far from where he is he felt lost.

"I... I like to think," he finally said. "I like to think about things, about the world, about what's out there beyond the place where I use to live."

He always did think about the things beyond just like he did back on Earth when Armin showed him the many things beyond the Walls of Paradis in his Book he always did imagined that one day he could explore all those wonderful things to be free, and when the day he, his friends and fellow soldiers took back Wall Maria and went to the basement he was exited to finally know the truth and explore and finally be free.

But in the end all he found was Pain and Misery, War and Conflict, Hatred and Sadness and many other horrible things just beyond those Oceans.

Eren's words hung in the air, heavy with unspoken emotions. Cinder, sensing his somber mood, reached out and gently touched his arm. "It's okay, Eren," she said softly. "You don't have to tell me everything if you don't want to."

He looked at her, surprised by her understanding. "It's not that," he said, trying to explain. "It's just... I'm not sure what I want anymore. I used to have a purpose, a reason to fight. Now... I feel lost."

Cinder tilted her head, her brow furrowed in concern. "Lost?" she echoed. "What do you mean?"

Eren sighed, feeling a wave of exhaustion wash over him. He longed to tell her everything, to share the burden of his past, but he knew he couldn't. He had to protect himself, protect the secrets he carried.

"It's complicated," he said, his voice barely a whisper.

Cinder's eyes filled with curiosity piqued. "Tell me," she urged, her voice filled with a genuine desire to understand. "I'm a good listener."

Eren hesitated, torn between his desire to confide in her and the need to keep his past a secret. He looked at her, at the innocence in her eyes, and a part of him wanted to tell her everything. But another part, the part that had been hardened by years of war and loss, held him back.

"It's not something I can explain," he said finally, his voice laced with a hint of sadness.

"You won't believe me anyway" Eren thought

Eren shook his head before looking back at her "Anyway" he started wanting to change topics "You said you have books why don't you show me that since we have nothing to do" he said.

Another less benign reason why he befriended her is because he needed information about this World to understand more about this strange place and considering her condition and Intelligence he could say it was a good thing he befriended her.

He was honest when he did say he actually like the people they pick on since usually those people are different from the rest and very smart.

He did feel bad since he is essentially manipulating her to get Information using a false Kindness to get what he wants but what else should he do he is lost in a World that is practically Alien to him.

Then again this isn't the first time he manipulated Children an Image of a young Warrior Candidate boy come to mind but still even if he felt bad he still had a mission to accomplish.

But since he isn't in a rush maybe he could be friends with her who knows perhaps they could truly be friends instead of him using her as a source of information.

Cinder unaware of his thoughts frowned sadly slightly frustrated at not being trusted enough to tell her his history but then again considering they only known each other for a day it doesn't mean they would immediately tell each other secrets but she hopes one day they could achieve that sort of Friendship.

Removing her frown she nodded "Yes Eren I have many books," Cinder said, her voice regaining its cheerfulness. "They're all tucked away in my room. Come on, I'll show you."

Eren followed her, his mind still swirling with thoughts of his past and his current predicament. He couldn't shake the feeling of being an outsider, a stranger in a strange land. But Cinder's presence, her innocent curiosity and genuine warmth, offered a glimmer of hope. Perhaps, just perhaps, he could find a place for himself in this world, even if it meant playing the role of a naive boy.

As they walked towards Cinder's room, Eren noticed the way she moved, her steps light and graceful, despite the worn-out clothes she wore. She seemed to carry herself with a quiet confidence, a resilience that he admired.

"You know," Eren started, breaking the silence, "you're pretty strong."

Cinder looked at him, surprised. "I am?"

"Yeah," Eren said, nodding. "You've been through a lot, but you never give up. You're always curious, always looking for something new to learn."

Cinder blushed, her cheeks turning a rosy pink. "I just like to read," she said shyly. "It's my escape from reality."

Eren understood. He knew that feeling, the feeling of finding solace in a good book, a world where anything was possible. He had spent countless hours lost in the pages of the Books reading it alongside Armin, escaping the harsh realities of his own life.

They reached Cinder's room, a small, cramped space filled with bookshelves overflowing with worn volumes. The air smelled of old paper and dust, a comforting aroma that transported Eren to a different time, a time before the war, before the pain and loss.

"Wow," Eren breathed, his eyes wide with l. "You have so many books."

Cinder beamed, her eyes sparkling with pride. "I've been collecting them for years. The Caretaker gave me this since most of them weren't being used anyway" she said before frowning "He figured he just dumped it all on me just so i could work better" she said sadly knowing that act was nothing more than a way for her to work better instead out of true kindness.

Eren nodded while looking at her sympathetically understanding that not all act of kindness was paved with good intentions he remembered the day where his Aunt Faye Yeager was murdered by that fat Bastard despite promising he would only punish his Father and all it got was her Aunt getting eating by Dogs.

"I wish they would care about me," Cinder said softly, her voice tinged with sadness. "Instead of simply viewing me as a simple cleaner."

Eren reached out and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. While he may be using her that doesn't mean he have to treat her badly.

"I'm here now," he said, his voice firm and reassuring. "And I'll will be there when you need me."

Cinder looked up at him, her eyes filled with hope. "Really?"

Eren nodded, a smile spreading across his face. "Really. We can read together, learn together, and maybe even have fun in this world together."

Despite his words he knew he can't truly promise that he have a mission to fulfill but that doesn't mean he can't try.

"Now come on" he tilted his head towards her books "Why don't you show me what you love."

Cinder nodded , her face brightening, led Eren to a shelf crammed with books of all sizes and shapes. She ran her fingers along the spines, her eyes sparkling with a familiar joy.

"I have books about everything," she said, her voice filled with pride. "History, science, adventure, even some Fairy tales."

Eren nodded. "Fairy tales ? That sounds interesting."

He was surprised by the sheer variety of books she had. It seemed like she had a thirst for knowledge that extended beyond the mundane tasks of her daily life. He wondered where she had learned to read.

Cinder pulled out a book with a worn leather cover and a title embossed in gold lettering: "The History of Remnant."

"This is my favorite," she said. "It tells the History of Remnant."

Eren nodded, understanding her sentiment. He had felt the same way about history books back in his own world. They offered a glimpse into the past, a chance to connect with the lives of those who came before him.

He picked up the book, his fingers tracing the faded lettering on the cover. The paper was brittle and yellowed with age, but the words on the pages were still clear and vibrant. He flipped through the pages, his eyes scanning the intricate illustrations and the flowing script.

But there was one problem.

He gave the book back to Cinder.

He can't Read.

"What's wrong?" Cinder asked, worried on why he gave her back the book.

It was incredibly frustrating he doesn't know why or how but spoken Eldian is the exact same as the spoken language in this world however the written languages are entirely different.

He understands that it's a completely new language a concept that was new to him and everyone who lived on Paradis. Everyone spoke the same language and never even had a name for it. When they learned the truth of their world, they either called the language Eldian or Marleyan. Of course, in schools before they learned the truth, they knew humanity was diverse before the titans, but it was still such a strange thing for them to learn.

It was only reinforced when they made contact with Hizuru alongside the time when he infiltrated Marley and fought in The Marley Mid-East War where he fought the Middle Eastern army.

So because of that he and the rest of Paradis were forced to understand their language so if they ever managed to have diplomacy it would be incredibly useful.

Though he already knew diplomacy was impossible he did learn both Hizuru and some of the Middle Eastern languages which he learned a lot faster compared to his friends since he saw the future and the fact he have what could be considered photographic memory it was quite easy to learn.

But now he was forced to make a decision he could pretend to understand but that would be counterproductive but on the other hand telling her that he is technically Illiterate he will be seen as suspicious but what could he do.

Eren took a deep breath before he made his decision.

"I can't read." He finally said.

There was a moment of silence between them.

"You can't read ?" Cinder asked after a moment.

"No, I can't." Eren said.

Cinder looked at Eren in complete confusion. Was he teasing her? He had to be teasing her. There's no way he wasn't teasing her.

"How can you be so good at talking, but not know how to read it?" She asked.

Eren kept quiet, refusing to answer as he usually does.

Cinder wasn't oblivious to the red flags Eren showed, she just conveniently chose to ignore them. However, she didn't know what to think of this.

Eren's confession hung in the air, heavy with unspoken implications. Cinder's eyes widened, her brow furrowed in confusion. She had never met anyone who could speak so fluently yet couldn't read. It seemed impossible, like a missing piece in a puzzle that didn't quite fit.

"But... how?" she said, confused . "You seem so smart. How can you not know how to read?"

Eren shifted uncomfortably, his gaze dropping to the floor. He knew this was a difficult concept to grasp, especially for someone like Cinder who had always taken reading for granted. He couldn't explain the complexities of his past, the isolation of his world, the strange disconnect between spoken and written language.

"It's a long story," he mumbled, avoiding her gaze. "Let's just say In where I come from we have a completely different written language."

'Not a lie but not the Truth either' he thought

Cinder's confusion morphed into concern. She saw the flicker of pain in his eyes, the way he seemed to shrink under her scrutiny. She knew he was hiding something, something big, but she didn't want to pry. Instead, she reached out and gently took his hand.

"It's okay," she said softly, her voice laced with a surprising amount of authority. "I can teach you, you know."

Eren looked at her, surprised by her offer. He hadn't expected her to be so understanding, so willing to help. He had been bracing himself for judgment, for rejection, but instead, she offered a lifeline, a chance to learn, a chance to connect.

"Really?" he asked, a flicker of hope igniting in his eyes.

Cinder nodded, her smile warm and genuine. "Really. We can start with the basics. I have a lot of books, and I'm sure we can find something interesting to read together."

Eren was incredibly glad that Cinder was willing to teach him despite how suspicious it looks but hey as the saying goes don't look a gift horse in the mouth

"Okay," he said, a small smile playing on his lips. "Thank you ."

As Cinder pulled out a simple alphabet book, her voice filled with excitement, Eren realized that maybe, just maybe, this strange world wasn't so alien after all. He had found a friend, a guide in this new world. And as he began to learn the letters, he felt a sense of hope, a sense of belonging that he had thought was lost forever.

The journey ahead was uncertain, but as he always said.

Keep moving forward.

And cut welcome everyone to another spin of story of Attack on Titan: A New Path as I said at the beginning this story will focus on what Eren and Cinder did during the week long time skip in Chapter 3 because I wanted to explore more on Eren reaction to the absolute Insanity that is the planet Remnant that make his Looks tame in comparison so yeah I hope you enjoy.

As for Eren Character you might have noticed he doesn't treat Cinder the way he does out of kindness but out of practicality something I wanted to explore more now you may wonder why well he only been on Remnant like 2 days and before he came he was committing Global Genocide and before doing all kinds of horrible things from Purposely targeting Civilians during the Attack on Libbrio and committing a Coup d'etat that might have caused a few civilians casualties of his own people all for the desire of his childish dream of freedom yes there was a part where he wanted to have his friends live long life but that was merely secondary his goal and first goal is always freedom

So all in all a pretty selfish and Tyrannical Dictator now the reason why im making him act like this Is because he isn't a hero but he will do whatever it takes to achieve his goal even if it is morally questionable.

As for why think of it as a Beauty and The Beast situation where Eren is the Beast and Cinder is Belle, Eren is nothing more than a selfish monster but because of Cinder kind and innocent nature she unknowingly make him feel less…. Paranoid and hateful and selfish because of the things he saw on Earth so basically this story will focus on Eren understanding Remnant alongside on how Cinder tries to help Eren from being too 'Evil'

I hope this will help you understand because I have no idea how to explain my vision

Beside that after this I'm going to begin writing my own stories so I hope you all the best since yesterday was my Birthday (12 August) anyway I hope you all have a wonderful day! Take Care! Thank you all and stay healthy!
