Davenport said that last sentence rather annoyed. And rather Loudly , in the nearby shrubbery bush, rattled.
"What was that!?" Angus jumped up, going to draw his wand.
"What? Oh no idea. Gerblins?" Davenport shrugged, arms behind his head as he lounged. A most deliberate lounge.
Angus frowned. And sat back down. He tries an investigation check but rolls low. (Or hits a very high deception check.) Deciding if someone's behind a bush in a city then they're probably been 'caught short'. and Angus thinks it best to leave them alone.
"What I'm saying is Your frustration is Valid." Davenport continued as Angus turned back to him. "Having Worked hard for all they have now, the other IPRE members shouldn't be giving you a rough time for doing the same."
"I suppose. But …I said some really bad things to him." Angus said. "To Taako."
"you're a teenager, in the heat of a very bad moment. And he's an adult who has heard worse. Even from himself." Davenport dismissed. "You should see some of the fall outs that popped up on the Starblaster!"
"Were they as bad as this?"
"Sure, a good few of them probably." The captain said, "Sure we loved each other. But Tempers can run high, you end up on each other's nerves and under their feet. Someone's adhd was always poking someone else's autism; or the other way around. I know I'm not always the calmest person but good grief? It's a wonder we didn't have any all-out warfare. Or they didn't kill me off by the amount they raised my blood pressure!"
His crossed his arms frowning, "Magnus one time spent a fortnight looking like a panda. One black eye from the reset, and one from Merle for running off into danger again, plus Barry had two clubbed ears. You could cause a feud over a pen. Or looking over Lucretia's shoulder. Taako would complain non-stop on wet planets, Lup on windy places Barry on hot places. And then screaming matches?"
This was said with a scoff.
"Merle once refused to meditate those, and faced John instead! The little tiffs were worse mind. Magnus would punch things and leave dents in the walls, even if he felt bad about it after. Lucretia started slamming her door so hard so often she ended up with a curtain on her quarter for three or five years till we found a replacement. Plus she wrecked the living quarters once burning a shield of faith to hog the couch. Barry would turn the water and lights on and off. I had to ban Lup from using Fireball INDOORS. Plus-plus, if the twins disagreed on something? It was weeks of sheer petty pranks-!"
The captain blinked, realising suddenly, "Oh, you're a sly dog Angus lad. You got me monologuing! Sorry where was I?"
"Star blaster stories?" Angus tries hopefully. The captain doesn't fall for it. In fact, angus received a disapproving twitch of his moustache.
Angus sighed. "Even if Taako has heard worse. Doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. That I didn't hurt his feelings."
"No it doesn't." The captain agreed. "But you know Taako as well as I do. Probably better even nowadays. So, you know as well as I do that Taako might be thinking of a combo of two things."
"Which are?" Angus asked.
"A," the captain said. "He's waiting for you to apologise first."
"What-?!"
"Hear me out. Anyone else I would say he doesn't think he did anything wrong." Davenport pacified. "But given his behaviour and mood it's just because he is Taako. He is just bloody awful at admitting he's wrong. And he wants to know you want to talk to him before he puts himself on the line emotionally like that." He explained. then added,
"Given Taako acts like A Toddler At Times."
The bush shook again. Angus forced himself to ignore it, Wishing the gerblin or whoever would finish their piss and piss off.
"That was a really weird thing to say so loudly Captain."
"I suppose it was." Davenport conceded.
"And it's the second time you've done that this conversation." Angus pointed out.
"Good. Something to think about. now, anyway?" Davenport started again, "A, he's waiting for you to apologise first. Don't look at me like that Angus. Or B, Taako might be trying to come up with some grand gesture to show he's sorry, so he doesn't HAVE to say it in as many words up front."
"But sir I don't want any big gestures." Angus said sadly. "All I want is for him to say sorry."
