CHAPTER 24
A FUN CELEBRATION
Jason and Clay barely washed their faces after they came back from the op, and were running around at the most commercial street of the city, all decorated with Christmas lights, between the thousands of people there searching for the perfect gift on the last week before Christmas, because Jason summoned Clay to help him find an amazing gift for Dianna. To make up for the fact that, not only he forgot her birthday, but he also treated her like shit the whole day. Of course, the last part Jason didn't tell Clay, because he was indignant enough when he heard that Jason didn't even know it was her birthday.
"I'm sorry, man" Clay yelled at Jason, in the middle of the crowd, while he deviated another desperate woman on the sidewalk, "but it's hard to find a birthday present if I don't know what the hell I'm looking for".
"I don't know. I'll know when I see it", Jason answered, feeling like shit, and walking fast. "What would you give her?"
"What do you mean? I already gave her my present" Clay answered, confused.
"What? You bought her something?" Jason was feeling like a big shit now.
"Well, yeah. Everyone bought her presents. She always remembers everyone's birthdays, and gives them something, even a small gift. Even though her paycheck is like, way worse than any of ours. I gave her my gift this morning, like everyone else" Clay casually explained.
"Oh God" Jason walked even faster, now feeling like the shittiest shit that ever roamed the face of the Earth. Jason now was in despair, and stopped and grabbed Clay's arm. "What did you give her?"
Clay stared at Jason. "It doesn't matter, man. You can't give her the same thing I gave her. It'd be lame".
Jason nodded, looking around the crowd. "You're right. U-hum".
Clay saw that Jason was feeling like shit and tried to help. "Look, she's definitely going to understand, if you show up without any gift. She's really kind and not into material stuff, she won't think badly of you, man".
Clay tried to help, but he made Jason feel even worse. "Yes, I know she's great and kind and thoughtful, and wouldn't be angry at me. And that's the worst, because I treated her like crap today" he finally confessed.
"You what?!" Clay yelled at him, in the middle of the crowd. Even a Santa Claus turned to look at them.
Jason pushed away an annoying elf and sat on a bench nearby. "Well, not like crap. I was a bit grumpy and... indifferent" he explained to Clay, who remained still. "And I might have mentioned that her interrogations are boring to watch" he continued, and Clay exhaled and looked away, grumbling, "Oh, dear Lord".
"Ok, now do you see what I mean? I'm only feeling worse now. Could you please, help me?" Jason pleaded.
Clay put his hands on his hips. "Jace, you and Davis are the ones that spend the most time with her nowadays" Clay said, and he was right, even though he didn't even know that Jason and Dianna had slept together, twice. Or that she had stayed at his house.
"So you must know what she likes and her tastes".
Jason looked up at him. "She likes tequila, tea, soda, and food in general. Whiskey. And ice cream. Not coffee", then he saw Clay's face, because he was only talking about food. Jason continued, "And likes traditional european décor, farmhouse too, wildflowers" he remembered of what he saw at her house, and Clay opened a smile, he was at the right path, so he continued, "she also likes traditional colorful rugs, and oil paintings" then Clay was confused, because he didn't know that Jason was at her house, so he thought about something else, "and she likes tall boots, and dresses and clothes that make her look like a fairy or a huntress or something", Jason stopped, daydreaming.
Jason daydreamed for a while, remembering her body. "She likes delicate necklaces and earrings" he remembered her collarbone and face, "and she always wears a beautiful white gold ring with multiple small diamonds".
Clay stood quiet for a while, smirking at Jason. "Specific. I was thinking about what kind of books she likes to read".
Jason smirked at Clay, nodding. "Yeah. Come on" he stood up, gesturing to Clay, and walking back from where they came from. "We passed by a jewelry store somewhere in here".
Dianna was almost ready to go to the bar with the team and the spooks. She looked at her reflection in the bathroom mirror, annoyed that it was so small and hung tall on the wall. She bought a really pretty dress two days earlier, it was almost the same shade of burgundy as the slutty dress she wore at the night club, but completely different. It was longer, reaching a little below the middle of her thigh, and with a square cleavage, not too revealing, and long sleeves. And small buttons at the front, a detail she was loving lately. It wasn't glued to the body, but adjusted to it. It was casual, chic, and comfortable. She let her hair fall a little wavier and voluminous this time, and she dabbed a bit of a raspberry colored lipstick, and used some eyeliner. She was all set, just needed to put on her boots and then grab her coat, so she sat on the bed, and she was trying to close her second tall brown boot when she heard a knock. She was sure it was Davis or Jessica, due to the hour.
"Come in" she yelled, still trying to close the boot. She wore those a lot lately at the States, and she thought maybe that was the reason why the zipper wasn't closing properly.
"Hi" Jason opened the door, shy. "Am I interrupting?"
Dianna looked up, seeing Jason standing with his hands in the pockets of his jacket, almost glued to the wall of her bedroom. She immediately blushed, because he was looking amazing with a black puffy jacket, green henley shirt and dark jeans.
"Hey, no, come in" she said, stuttering, "I just…" she couldn't close the boot properly, so she gave up and stood up anyways.
"You look great" Jason smiled, cutely, and Dianna melted, he sounded sincere.
"Thank you" she muttered, shyly smiling. He kept quiet, then he walked closer to her.
"Look, hum. I'm sorry for not wishing you a happy birthday before" he tried, choosing his words carefully, so he wouldn't admit that he forgot it was her birthday. "I was tired, you know, and sleepy" he added, feeling terrible.
Dianna smiled, affectionate, then looked at the floor. "That's ok if you forgot. I mean, my memory is also terrible about names and such, so it happens".
He relaxed a bit, but he needed to apologize for even more. "Hum, and, I'm sorry for being so grumpy too. I was in a really bad mood today" he sincerely apologized.
Dianna stood still for a second, looking down, then murmured. "That's ok".
Jason noticed her sad demeanor and felt terrible, obviously the way he treated her really upset her, and she had every right to feel that way.
"I know it's not an excuse, so I really am sorry" he said, because he didn't know what else to say.
She glanced at him, and shook her head. "That's ok, no problem. You're coming with us tonight, right?"
He still felt terrible about his behavior. Ashamed, actually, was the correct word. "Sure, I mean, if you want me there" he said.
"Of course yes. Please, go. It'll be fun" she smiled at him.
He nodded. "Ok then" then he came closer to her and took something from his pocket.
"Hum, I bought this for you. For your birthday. And as an apology too" he murmured, and gave her a small box.
"Oh" Dianna melted, putting her hands delicately in front of her chest like a Disney princess, and reaching for the box, looking at Jason. "You didn't have to"
She opened it, and silently looked at it.
"You can change it for something else if you don't like it" he quickly said. "I can text you the address of the store-"
"It's a ring" Dianna murmured.
Jason swallowed. "Yeah. I mean..." he didn't know what else to say. "Yeah".
Dianna looked at the delicate ring. It was rose gold, very thin, and had a slight 'V' shape, with a few tiny diamonds in it, like an even more delicate version of the ring she already used. She took it out of the box, and Jason repeated, "Hum, if you don't like it you can change-"
"I love it", she smiled affectionately, still holding the ring.
He smiled back at her. "Really? Because, hum, your family name starts with a 'V', and you always wear this other one" and he slightly touched her right hand and her white gold ring, "so you could use this one with it. Or in another finger, if you prefer. I liked this color and the lady from the store said that it matches the white one you have" he clumsily explained, and Dianna looked at his cute face, focused and meticulous about the explanation, while he said all those things.
She noticed the rose gold ring was just slightly larger than the white one, and would need an adjustment if she put it on the same finger, so she slid it on her middle finger, next to the other. "It's perfect" and it was, she thought.
He noticed it was too big for her other finger, "You can adjust it too, it you prefer-"
"No, that's ok. I like it on this one" she looked down at her hand, then looked at him. "Thanks, Jason" she said affectionately, and her thankful smile melted him. "But you really didn't have to. You have to save for Emma's college" she teased, because she knew that even the cheapest ring in a jewelry store would be quite expensive.
"I just… I felt like it" Jason simply explained why he chose to give her jewelry.
"Ok then" she nodded, finally lowering her hand.
"You ready?" Jason touched her arm, to take her out so they could go to the bar.
"I'm.. almost" she looked down to her boot. "The zipper is stuck".
"Oh, here, let me try" and he quickly knelt and held her boot, while trying to close the zipper. Then he saw it wasn't working. "Wait, sit on the bed", he asked, and she did, and he opened the boot and finally could close the zipper all the way. "All good" he looked up at her, and she just shyly smiled. Then he noticed his hand was unconsciously grabbing her thigh, and he quickly got up, abashed. "Ok, let's go then".
Everyone arrived together at the bar where Dianna chose to celebrate her 34th birthday, and Jason and Sonny decided to ride with Dianna, Davis and Nick to the place. Nick was sitting at the back seat with the girls, charmingly saying he'd never think that Dianna was a minute over 24 years old, and Sonny and Jason glanced at each other at the front seats every time that Nick said something, basically. Jason found out, from the conversation, that even Nick knew it was her birthday and gave her a small jewelry box, and Jason couldn't wait for the moment when Nick would find out that he gave her a ring, which she could keep in her new tiny and basic jewelry box. Jason didn't see the box, but that's how he thought it looked like.
They arrived at the place and there were a lot of people at the bar already, and everyone started the night by taking shots of tequila, vodca, or both. Sonny started strong, stating that Davis would drive them back to their building, but Nick intervened and said he'd be one of the designated drivers so the ladies could enjoy their night without any concerns. Jason and Sonny took another shot of tequila right in front of Nick when they heard that. Nick took the hint and made his way to Brock and Trent, to talk to them, and he really seemed to be bonding with the two broody operators.
"So?" Clay approached Jason, with a beer in hand, smiling at him, "Did she like it?"
Jason proudly answered, pointing with his chin, while holding a glass of whiskey. "Well, it seems like it. She's wearing it now".
"U-hum, well done boss" Clay stated, nodding at Jason.
Sonny was with them and didn't understand, so he asked what they were talking about.
"Oh, about the gift Jason gave Dianna. A ring" Clay explained to Sonny, teasing.
"You gave her a ring?" Sonny was shocked, and Jason got confused.
"Yeah, why, what's the matter?" Jason asked, offended.
"Oh, nothing boss. Nothing. Just hope you didn't get down on one knee too" Sonny mocked, laughing loudly, with Clay nodding and laughing too.
Jason remembered he knelt, but not while giving her the ring, but he kept that information to himself. "Well, I don't see it like that" he stated, now more offended.
Clay put his arm around Jason, and looked at Sonny. "Our boss here forgot her birthday, man".
And Sonny instantly looked indignant at Jason, "Ah man, I'm glad you gave her something fancy then. How could you forget? We were just talking these days about how she missed her family, and she told us that her mom was the one who always organized the birthday dinners, parties and stuff. And I even told that my mom did that too". Sonny almost had tears in his eyes, feeling emotional when remembering how much he missed his mom, too.
Jason didn't really remember that conversation, though. "Was I awake when you were talking?"
"Well, you were a bit sleepy, but awake, yes. At the table with us. It was the night after the last interrogation Dianna had before the nightclub" Clay explained.
"Ah" Jason remembered. It was the night where Dianna was wearing a deep cleavage and red lipstick for her interrogation, and he kept staring at her mouth and breasts while she talked, so he didn't pay much attention to anything else. And he was a little sleepy, too.
He gazed at Dianna and took a sip of his whiskey, because she and Davis were discreetly talking about him. He knew that, because Davis kept glancing at him while Dianna purposely kept turning her back to him, and Davis touched Dianna's right hand while they talked.
Then Jessica talked to Davis on the other side, and Dianna turned to get her Cuba Libre on the table, so Jason felt confident enough to make an approach.
"Hey" he stood next to Dianna, who smiled at him, immediately. "Finally able to order your favorite drink without any suspicious stares from the Americans?" he pointed at her drink with his glass.
She chuckled. "Oh yes, definitely. I'm taking this time in Serbia to satisfy my desire" she teased, taking a sip of the drink without looking at him, but Jason felt his member twitch involuntary.
"How was the op?" she asked, turning to him.
"It was good, u-hum. Easy day. We got the documents and material and Davis sent the intel to be checked by the CIA. I think we're close to finding the guy who built the bombs".
Dianna smiled at Jason. "Easy day? Ray told me that you guys were almost shot by some security guards that were arriving at the building unexpectedly" she teased.
Jason thought for a second, he really was close to getting shot, but nothing happened. They shot back and killed the guards. "Well, you know. It happens sometimes. We have to shake it off" he dismissed.
Dianna thought for a second. "What are Emma and Mikey doing for Christmas? Staying at your parents house? Or with Alana's parents?"
Jason raised an eyebrow because she thought about the possible arrangement of his family. Her mind really didn't stop. "Actually, they're going to Alana's parents on Christmas eve, then go back to my parents only on the 29th, to spend the New Year's with them".
Dianna sipped her drink, then sighed. "I love Christmas. I wish I was with my family, too. But I'm glad we're spending it here and not in, like, Afghanistan. At least I get to see the Christmas lights and décor".
Jason nodded, understanding. "What are your dad and brother doing? For Christmas"
"My brother is spending it with his girlfriend's family, and my dad with his" she answered, and chuckled to Jason when he raised her an eyebrow. "But I think my brother is going to my dad's house with his girlfriend for New Year's. I'm not sure. My dad loves to set off fireworks at his place at midnight, and he usually hosts some type of gathering or party".
Jason already liked her dad, he seemed like a fun dude. He tried to guide the conversation. "Was your mom into hosting parties?"
Dianna smiled. "Yeah, sometimes. Depending on her mood and the occasion. Sometimes she was all excited, sometimes she felt too overwhelmed. Because obviously my dad wasn't all that helpful and just spent the party drinking and telling jokes with his buddies".
"Well, I'm liking your dad already" he continued to guide the conversation, but he wasn't lying.
Dianna chuckled. "Yeah, you'd definitely like him, it's hard for people to dislike him, actually".
"Would he like me?" he got to the point, a bit too fast, but Dianna didn't seem to mind.
"He'd like you. And he's very proud of what I'm doing. He's very supportive of policemen and military people, back in Uruguay too", she explained.
Jason nodded, and quickly asked. "And your mom? Would she like me? You never answered me that" he teased.
Dianna opened a sad smile. "I was hallucinating, Jason. You know that".
"Yeah" he felt awkward, but tried to justify and sound casual. "But what did she say? You probably know what she would think about me". He asked because he knew that the answer would also come from Dianna's mind, and he wanted to know what she thought.
Dianna felt pressured, and took a sip of her drink. She raised her shoulders. "She'd like you" she stated.
Jason felt there was a part there missing. "And…?"
She glanced at him, and added, to avoid more questions, "Oh, she'd think you're hot. She always loved men in uniforms".
Jason opened a wide smile. "Of course she did", he knew he'd like her mom too. And all moms and older ladies in general liked him, they couldn't resist his charm.
Dianna couldn't help but to laugh of his cockiness. But she knew what her mom would also think of him. She heard it loud and clear in her hallucination, in case she forgot.
'Oh, he's handsome. I like him. Just be careful, he looks like the type of guy who always breaks a woman's heart'.
Dianna chose that specific bar because it had live music after 10PM, and it had a small area for people to stand up in front of the band, and that's what almost everyone did when the band started to play very familiar songs. The band was mostly playing older rock and pop ones, like Rolling Stones and The Beatles, but some Backstreet Boys too. The bar was very crowded, and Dianna was feeling hot when the girls finished dancing to a BSB song. She noticed some of the guys knew the lyrics, and the steps too. Sonny was one of them, he was hammered and pretending to mock the song, but he knew a lot of the choreography.
Dianna was clumsily putting her hair up into a high bun, at least until the heat passed, while she listened to an Aerosmith song that everyone obviously knew, including her. She liked Aerosmith. Jason liked it too, because he appeared by her side and pretended to sing the lyrics with a bottle of beer as a microphone. He knew them perfectly, even when Steve Tyler said a bunch of words fast. She tried to keep up, but she wasn't as hammered as Jason, even though she was drunk, so she didn't remember the lyrics perfectly.
"But I know" Jason started, dramatically and loudly singing, coming closer to Dianna from behind and moving with the song, while holding his bottle/microphone, "you ain't wearin' nothing underneath that over coat, and it's all a show. Yeah!". Dianna chuckled, and pretended her closed hand was a microphone too, to sing along with him. She had finished her drink earlier. "That kinda lovin' makes me wanna pull down the shade, yeah!
That kinda lovin', yeah, now I'm never, never, never, never gonna be the same".
Dianna was laughing at his performance, because he was being very dramatic, the only thing he wasn't doing in the crowd was kneeling and playing an imaginary guitar. But suddenly he stood behind her again, this time really close, and put his arm who held a bottle around her waist, and while he sang on her neck he suddenly released her hair from the bun, pulling it to the side. She swallowed, hard, because he was all over her and grazing his stubble on her neck and ear. "I go crazy, crazy" he sang along while practically kissing her neck, and she glanced around but no one was looking at them.
When Dianna was finally thinking Jason was just really drunk and would stop, she perfectly heard when he whispered in her ear, still with his arm around her. "Come with me?"
She swallowed, and turned her head to look at him, and he kept staring at her, stern, and slightly pressed her back. With his erection. Dianna wasn't really a daring person, but apparently he was, and she couldn't resist his look. She slightly nodded, and he instantly licked his lips and grabbed her hand, guiding her through the crowd until they left the bar from a side exit.
Jason desperately searched for a dark and secretive spot next to the bar, and he was kicking himself for trying to act so spontaneous without looking for a place first, but he was new at this thing of sex in a public place. He just couldn't resist at Dianna moving her hair while 'Crazy' was playing in the background, because he reminded of the morning she was at his place and looked like Liv Tyler, with her long messy hair. He looked, relieved, when he found the perfect spot where he could squeeze Dianna against the exterior wall of the building, so he pulled her and, well, squeezed her there. He looked at her face for a second before kissing her, and he did it eagerly because he saw desire in her eyes too. He quickly opened his belt and jeans while she disheveled his hair, and she gasped when she felt Jason releasing his erection.
He raised her from her ass and stood between her legs, and Dianna asked him to rip out her panties, probably not because it was necessary, but because she loved when he showed his strength to her.
And just in case Jason had any doubts if Dianna wanted him or not, as soon as he pushed, deep, inside of her, a little faster than he planned, she moaned loudly and pulled his hair, then when he waited for a few seconds because she was so tight around him, and he didn't want to hurt her, Dianna whispered in his ear "Please, just fuck me already".
He grinned and started to thrust, deep and hard, and she moaned while he grunted, with his lips against hers. Jason pressed her ass harder with his fingers when he started to move, because in that position her walls were tighter than ever, and he was quickly reaching his climax. He changed his moves so he touched her clit at every thrust, and he felt the difference because her moans were louder.
"Harder", Dianna suddenly whispered to him, and he gladly obeyed, cockily smiling "Yes ma'am", so he began to thrust harder and faster, and buried his face on her neck, smelling her scent, while she pulled his hair, obviously enjoying his skills.
"How are you. Hum. Liking your gift. Hum. So far?" Jason suddenly heard himself saying between thrusts, with the tongue loose due to high amounts of alcohol.
"Hum" Dianna held a moan, closing her eyes to concentrate. "A lot" then she couldn't hold her moan when he pushed again, because he was very fast now. "Thank. Hum. You"
"Sweet Jesus" Jason murmured when he felt Dianna twitch, and he was very ready to come too. She came first, releasing a high-pitched gasp, and he thrust three times and followed, moaning loudly.
Jason was catching his breath, and took his face off her hair to look at Dianna, and they both smiled at each other, feeling naughty with their accomplishment.
"Oh my God" Dianna suddenly said, squirming her legs, alarmed and looking behind Jason. He quickly turned, and saw a very annoyed policeman behind him, less than fifteen feet away from their poorly chosen hideout.
Jason quickly came out of Dianna and helped her down, then put his junk back inside his boxers, closing his pants and his belt, while Dianna pulled her dress down, and checked if a boob didn't come out of her cleavage, embarrassed. The policeman kept staring at them, not saying a word, and while Dianna gave him an apologizing smile, Jason decided to try to explain the situation to the guy.
"It's her birthday, sir".
