To all the hardcore fans who remember more of the storylines going on around the blackout, please forgive me if I'm messing up facts from that time. The when and where of some of the details from the show are lost in the memory dump.

Walking into the emergency department, Jason sees Bobbie and Elizabeth standing at the central desk. He calls out, "Bobbie, Carly needs to see a doctor."

Both women turn to see him guiding Carly in with a hand on her back. Picking up on his anxiety, Bobbie quickly leads them into an open room. Jason guides her to a chair, gently helping her sit and get comfortable.

Doing a quick visual assessment, and not seeing any visible signs of injury, Bobbie asks him, "What is going on? What's wrong?"

Carly chimes in, annoyed, "Hello. I am in the room, and I'm perfectly able to answer for myself. Jason is just worried because I had an upset stomach earlier and then had one tiny little dizzy spell."

He gives her a look that has her rolling her eyes, but sitting back quietly. He tells Bobbie, "When I got to her house, she had thrown up and was so miserable she was laying against the toilet. She then took a nap…"

"Hey, you can't use the nap against me; you told me to take one." She pouts.

With exasperation, he counters, "I'm happy you took a nap, but you never nap. And then when you get up you're suddenly craving cold pizza and milk, after spending half an hour, at least, throwing up. And that little dizzy spell was big enough that it made you fall back. Carly, you have to…"

"Let me run a couple tests, get a urine sample and some blood work. Then, I'll have the doctor come in to see you." Carly's mother cuts in, trying to calm everyone down.

"Thank you, Bobbie." Jason tells her. His face is tight with concern and he keeps reflexively looking at Carly to make sure she's okay.

She pats his arm, continually amazed at his devotion to her daughter. Trying to ease his fear, she consoles, "I'm sure it's nothing serious. We'll rush the results."

Putting her hand on her daughter's shoulder, giving it a squeeze, she leaves to get the process started.

A few minutes later, Elizabeth comes into the room with a blood drawing kit and a cup for a urine sample. She looks up at Jason through her lashes, "Hi, Jason. I haven't seen you around lately."

He gives her an uncomfortable look, but is saved from responding when Carly loudly complains, "Listen Lizzy, instead of mooning over Jason like a lovesick teenager, why don't you do your job. Maybe I should ask for another nurse who can act more professionally."

Glaring at her blonde patient, Liz snipes at her, "Whatever Carly. I was just saying hello."

With narrowed eyes, "Less chit-chat and more doing. your. job."

Jason jumps in to try to ease the tension in the room, "Please, Elizabeth. I'm worried about her."

She gives him a soft look, "Of course."

When Liz is preparing her arm, Carly watches her like a hawk. Leaning over to keep a close watch, she warns her, "No getting aggressively stabby with that needle, Lip Gloss."

"She won't," Jason says in a hard voice, making it clear there will be consequences if she does.

Liz draws her blood, being extra careful with Jason's eyes on her. When she finishes, she once again turns her eyes to him. Her face is a picture of longing that pulls a growl out of Carly. Startled, Liz's eyes jump back to her patient.

With force, Carly clips out, "Stop making goo goo eyes at Jason, and get. out. of. this. room."

Walking to stand beside Carly, Jason looks her over in concern. Giving Liz a brief glance, he tells her in a dismissive tone, "Thank you, Elizabeth."

She gives him one more long, hopeful look, then like a kicked puppy dog she flees the room.

Twenty five minutes later, Bobbie enters the room with a big smile on her face. She beams at Carly, "You had me scared. I thought the worst when you came rushing in." She shakes her head, then walks closer, putting her arm around Carly. "Daughter of mine, I think you are going to have to call your husband and give him some exciting news. I'm about to be a grandma again!"

She gives her a big hug. Meanwhile, over her shoulder, Carly and Jason are staring at each other stunned. Carly croaks out, "Pregnant?"

Pulling back, Bobbie smooths down her hair in a motherly fashion, "I kind of suspected because it sounds like my symptoms when I was pregnant with you. But I wanted to be sure before I said anything. I know you and Jax have struggled with having a baby, so I didn't want to get your hopes up. When we got the results, I called Dr. Lee to come talk to you, but asked her if I could give you the great news."

Their silence, and Carly's expression finally register, and her tone changes. "Carly, is there something I should know? This is a good thing, right?"

Carly is quiet for a moment, running through the chaos and complications this new little life is about to create. This will end her marriage, whatever is left of it at this point. And she has a feeling a bunch of people in this town are going to have strong opinions about this baby and his or her father, and she can guarantee they are not going to be shy about voicing them to her face.

But. Her hand rests against her stomach. A baby. More than that, Jason's baby. A beautiful smile lights up her face. She looks at Jason.

He has been cautiously watching her, waiting for her reaction. She may not want the baby, not with how it will tear apart her life. But he knows that's just his fear talking, every time he has believed he could have a child and family of his own, it's been ripped away. He knows Carly will never hurt her child. Their child.

Or maybe it somehow is Jax's child, though he'd been gone so long at this point it couldn't be his, could it? He narrows his eyes at the thought. No. The baby is his, he knows it is his.

The first bloom of hope lights in his chest. His child. He is bowled over by a wave of love and longing for this baby. He can't draw a breath for a moment, it overwhelms him so. His eyes stay glued to Carly's face as he waits for her reaction. If she is anything but happy, he thinks he will be crushed. But if that's the case, he will convince her that it will work, that he will be a good father to their child.

When she suddenly radiates a look of joy and looks into his eyes, he feels his chest loosen and that same joy flow through him. He walks to stand in front of her, pulling her into his arms. His heart feels so full, pounding against hers in tandem, as suddenly a future he stopped daring to dream opened up in front of him.

Bobbie watches the two embrace, with tears in their eyes, and lets out a sigh. "I'm guessing Jax isn't going to be happy about this news. Should I even ask how this happened?"

The censure in her voice has Carly rolling her eyes. "Mom, can we not right now? Can you please pick any other moment to lecture me on how I'm screwing up my life?"

"I'm sorry," she concedes, then, "But is it so wrong that I would like you just once to have a stress free pregnancy? You know how difficult your pregnancies are. I'm a mother who worries about her child, so sue me."

Jason cuts in, promising, "I will make sure it's stress free."

"While she divorces Jax, who she is the co-owner of a hotel with? How are you going to pull off that magic trick? And are you going to keep Sonny and the danger that follows everyone he's connected to away from my daughter and grandchild as well?" Bobbie argues.

"Mama, right now the thing stressing me out the most is you." She clips out in a biting tone. Softening, she looks at Jason with a smile, and without taking her eyes off his, she answers her mother, "I can't speak for Jason, but I am happy about this baby. And I couldn't ask for a better father for him or her, or a better partner to do it with." She turns back to her mother, "Would you rather I do it with a husband who is rarely in the same country as I am? I know there are going to be tough times ahead, but I get to do it with my best friend, the best man I know."

She turns her eyes back to Jason as he reaches for her hand, giving it a squeeze in gratitude. He gives her a beautiful smile, love shining in his eyes.

Bobbie lets a slight smile soften her face looking at the two of them. She sees excitement and love radiating from both their faces. Maybe this won't be a disaster. If anyone can keep Carly calm and safe, it's Jason. And no one has been more loyal to her daughter or is more loved by her grandsons. She just hopes Jason doesn't break her daughter's heart again.

Clearing her throat, she tells the pair, "Let me start over. Congratulations! I am happy for you, and I must admit, I'm excited to be a grandma again. And I promise to try to keep my concerns to myself."

"Thank you, Mama." Carly tells her. Then, the two women hug, her mother squeezing her tightly for a long moment.

All eyes turn to the door as Dr. Lee enters with a thick file. She smiles at the three people in the room, not surprised Jason is here with her patient instead of her husband. "Congratulations, Carly. I told you and your husband that the key to getting pregnant was just to relax, and it looks like you took my advice."

All three of the other people in the room suddenly look incredibly awkward. Bobbie won't meet her eyes, Jason looks annoyed and stares intensely at Carly, who is pink with embarrassment. Her patient looks up at her best friend first, silently communicating a question and permission, then she haltingly admits, "Dr. Lee… um, I.." she rolls her eyes and barrels forward, "Jax isn't the father; Jason is."

Everyone stops as the words reverberate around the room. The doctor looks shocked for a moment, but takes a moment to set Carly's file down to cover it up.

Jason reels from the power of the words spoken aloud. And knowing what making that statement means to Carly, how it's going to impact her life, he feels a wave of gratitude and love at the bravery it takes to stand up for him. He knows with a certainty he feels in his bones that she would never deny him his place as their child's father. No matter what the personal cost, she has shown over and over that she will put everything on the line for him. It's humbling and beautiful.

For Carly, it's a wave of peace, knowing that something she has always secretly longed for and dreamed of, practically since the first moment she set eyes on the gorgeous man in front of her, is actually happening. She remembers being a family when Michael was a baby, and how she ached for Jason to be his real father. Now this new life will be part her and part her best friend. It feels like it was destined to be.

Dr. Lee clears her throat, "I see. Well, Mrs… um, Carly." She clears her throat again and focuses on the file in front of her with embarrassed intensity. "We need to be vigilant with this pregnancy. With your history, we need to make sure you and the baby remain healthy and as stress free as possible. I am going to give you a prenatal vitamin that's especially robust. You will also have some strict dietary restrictions, and I want you to avoid stress and get plenty of rest. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for you to slow down and take it easy during this pregnancy. With the complications you have had in the past, we are going to be extra cautious with more check ups and some at home monitoring to keep you and your baby healthy."

Jason listens intently to the doctor's instructions. When Dr. Lee gives Carly the sheet of paper that gives more specific details about those instructions, she skims over it with a pout on her face. She goes to put it down, but Jason grabs it from her. He reads it with intense focus.

While Carly is pouting over the restrictions that she is sure Jason is going to enforce, he is suddenly gripped with fear. The overwhelming thought in his mind is that his child and his best friend are in danger for the next nine months. They have both seen how easily those little lives can be ripped away from them. And he's having flashbacks to finding Carly bleeding on the floor of the penthouse when Michael was born.

Carly watches fear grip her best friend, and reaches out to take his hand. In a calm, reassuring voice, she tells him, "It'll be okay. We'll be okay. I promise I will be good. I will eat what the doctor tells me to eat, and I'll take naps. I will run away and hide anytime I see Jax or Sonny or Sam," she gives him a cheeky grin at this, pulling a smile out of him. "I know this is precious cargo. I want and love this baby as much as you do, and don't want anything to happen to it."

He gives her a smile, the panic that was threatening retreats, though the worry remains. As he thinks of all the scenarios that could go wrong, he makes a decision. Turning to Carly, he announced, "I'm moving in with you."
