CHAPTER 36

WEEKEND GETAWAY

"Come on, Dianna, really? It's just for a couple of days" Jason stood in the middle of Dianna's bedroom entrance, his hands on the hips, while looking at her.

"Yes, but Sonny said it's chillier there at Full Metal's cabin. My clothes are mixed in a lot of boxes, here, at the apartment and in my bag at the hotel, and I just kinda threw them in here and it's hard to find them" Dianna gestured, trying to make him understand that it wasn't like all her clothes matched with each other, like Jason's wardrobe, that basically consisted in jeans, T-shirts and jackets. And boots and sneakers.

"Yes, but it's not a runway, you won't even be able to post your OOTD's", Jason clapped back. He was anxious and resisting the urge to tell her that if, who knows, everything worked out and she suddenly decided to forgive him, she would be walking naked around the cabin, and maybe wearing a cozy sweatshirt if she felt cold while he fucked her near the fireplace, but that was it.

Dianna stopped for a second, when she heard the acronym that Jason used. "Did Emma tell you about the 'outfit of the day' thing?", she asked, amused.

"Yeah. I know stuff" he admitted, smiling. Dianna thought he looked incredibly cute, all proud of his knowledge about young people's things, in his fatigues.

She felt daring. "Will you get changed before going?" she casually asked, because they still needed to get his clothes at his place. He didn't want to stop there when they were close to his apartment, God knows why, so he'd go there with Sonny to pick up his things, which probably would take only a few minutes, while Ray stayed with her. They were all downstairs, waiting, and Davis was there too, already thinking about the ideal furniture arrangement with the guys. Dianna could hear them, and it was a heated discussion. She also heard when Davis kept calling the house 'tiny'.

"Yeah, I think so, these are kinda clean, but I don't really like to walk around in uniform outside of the Base" he said, distractedly looking down at his fatigues. Dianna kept quiet, so he looked at her, and noticed she just glanced at him from the corner of the eye. He felt a heat inside, a shiver of hope, and quickly added. "But to be quicker, maybe I'll just go with these, you know, there's not going to be anyone there. Just us. For miles" he swallowed with the thought of that. They could scream all they wanted, which would be a good thing, if Will wasn't there, of course.

Dianna thought about a bad scenario, of course her mind did that all of the time, even though usually she kept it to herself and was a very positive person.

"Not that I don't trust in your ability to protect us from Will" she said, with her arm reaching deep inside a box, "But wouldn't it be better if someone else stayed there with us? At least for tonight and tomorrow".

"What? No. There's no need" Jason quickly said. He now was very hopeful and would feel awkward if his brothers heard his and Dianna's grunts and moans. Because he would definitely not hold himself back.

Dianna stared at him. "You know I'm right. And I'm actually worried about Davis, if Will saw us all there. He really dislikes her, Jason" she said.

"She could stay in a hotel here, with one of the guys in the next room" Jason tried, but he knew Dianna was right. Will did not like Davis, at all, and he could be holding a grudge against her now, too. They all thought of that when they picked her up from her house earlier, for her to be with them. Sonny knocked on her bathroom door while she was showering and everything, to hurry her up.

"And waste money and still be close to Will? Really? What does it matter if someone else stays with us there?" Dianna naively said, but she quickly added. "She could stay there tonight, and then tomorrow during the day. If everything works out, she'd come back then, anyways". Then she looked away.

Jason noticed how she didn't say that he and her would come back to VA Beach Saturday night, and just Davis. She wanted time alone with him there, too. He smiled to himself, feeling great. And now thinking it would be fun if someone else stayed there, too, for the night.

"You know what, it would be fun if someone else stayed tonight. Maybe some of the guys. The cabin has three bedrooms anyways", he said, calculating that it would work out perfectly.

She glanced at him, because she didn't know if there would be a bedroom empty, but she didn't say anything. Yet. She was still thinking about whether she could forgive Jason. At first, she was remembering the good times she had with him, but then she reminded herself that she could resent forgiving him in the future during fights and bad times, and not good times. So she decided to remember all the things he did wrong to her, or hurt her, and except for this last situation, she couldn't really remember any. Even what he said to her during their fight in Mongolia didn't hurt her anymore, because he didn't really know her back then, and also, he confessed that he wanted her. And she understood, because back then she wanted him, too, and these things really put someone on their edge. She also said really harsh things to him back then.

"U-hum, see? Come on, I'll just get my underwear and you can tell her downstairs, meanwhile" she stopped, and added. "Sonny probably would like to go there, he said so many wonderful things about Full Metal's cabin".

Jason swallowed. He knew Sonny would love to go there with Davis, without a doubt. He noticed Dianna looking at him, alert, and he didn't say anything.

"Let them be, Jason" Dianna suddenly said, walking to him. "Let them enjoy it. They're really doing everything right, so far. They're not together. I hate to see them like this".

Jason looked at her, she obviously knew something he didn't, with certainty. "What are you saying?"

Dianna looked at him confused, she was sure he knew. Everyone knew. She thought so, at least. And she felt terrible for spilling Davis' and Sonny's secret like that. "Oh God. I don't know anything, for sure. I just noticed some things, but I could be wrong. Please, don't mind me, forget about what I just said" she pleaded, anxious, coming closer to him.

He nodded, but assured her. "I noticed some things too. I would never say anything. But it's risky, Dianna". And she nodded, going back to another box, that said 'lingerie etc' on the side. He blinked and came a little closer, to peek, but Dianna quickly got some things inside her hands and into her bag. That was ok, he'd see it later. It was good to keep some mystery. That was the reason why he didn't want her to get inside his apartment yet, too.

It was good to keep some mystery about his mess and how sad the apartment was. And he remembered that Natalie kept a lot of her stuff there, and he felt nauseated again, he wanted to give her back her stuff as soon as possible.

After sharing their idea, Jason and Dianna smirked at each other when Sonny grumpily, but quickly, volunteered himself to go with Jason, Dianna, and Davis, to Full Metal's cabin. When Jason was about to get his clothes, Full Metal and Trent arrived at Dianna's house with the keys to the lodge, and Full Metal guaranteed it was more of a lodge than a cabin, and they wanted to go too, but Sonny talked to them real quick on the side, and they suddenly changed their minds. But Jason suddenly said that he was thinking that the rest of the guys, Ray and his family and Emma and Mikey, could all spend the next day there, going in the morning, and they all thought it was a great idea. Except Sonny.

"You're really inviting Emma and Mikey? Do you think they'll want to go?" Dianna asked Jason, excited but anxious. She already met Mikey in person, months ago, and adored his blunt way and cute manners, but Emma she only met through Instagram, when she filmed the video getting in and out of Jason's huge car. She thought Emma was adorable, and really a fun girl, but you could never know for sure if a teenager would like you. Of course, if she met Jason's kids this time, she wouldn't have the pressure of being his girlfriend yet. She smiled when she thought that she was happily referring herself as his girlfriend, but she shook that thought, at least for now.

And Jason understood her nervousness, then he calmly assured Dianna. "Yeah. They love to hang out with the team. I'll call them on our way there. I don't think it's risky if we all are together. I'd feel even better if they were with me" he said, when he thought about Will's imminent threat. Obviously he wouldn't tell his kids about anything, and he really wanted Emma to know Dianna in person, without any added pressure.

Jason got from his apartment his old phone and put his sim card in there, and called both Emma and Mikey while driving there, and for Dianna's surprise, he called them on the speaker. Mikey said he didn't have a game that weekend and was really eager to go, because a friend of his from his school also had family in VA Beach and he could get a ride with him. And Jason said Ray would give him a ride from VA Beach to the lodge. Emma also was excited and said she could make it easily to VA Beach, and Jason said she could take a ride with Stella and Clay, who were also going, and she agreed. Then she obviously, as Dianna predicted, asked if Natalie was going too, and Jason simply told her that they broke up, so she wasn't going. Emma seemed surprised, because she talked to Natalie that week through text, and asked if it was really final, but Jason said that it was final, and they could talk about it the next day. Dianna, during the calls, tried to not even breathe too loudly. But in the end, Jason simply turned to her, with a wide and cute smile, and continued in a great mood during the entire trip.

They arrived at the cabin at night, but it was close to VA Beach and there was more than enough time for them to have a nice dinner, so Sonny went prepared, bringing a lot of meat, almost no veggies, because finally Jason got rid of the annoying vegetarian doctor, and marshmallows, for them to eat by the fire pit. Sonny and Jason carried the ladies' bags from the trucks and the coolers that they brought filled with meat, beers and booze in general. And the girls carried to the lodge the really necessary things, like toilet paper, bed sheets, towels, and other foods they could eat during all the other hours where they didn't eat meat, bacon and marshmallows.

Sonny and Jason were starting the fire and deciding on what meat they'd grill that night, and which they'd leave for the next day, and it escalated to a very, very heated discussion, between the ego of a team leader and the pride of a fire pit master, so Dianna and Davis awkwardly got back inside the cabin to prepare the salad and drink some alcohol. Davis had made a quick trip to the supermarket, and got wine and champagne, 'because she felt chic', so they had that to drink, and also tequila, whiskey and vodca. And beer, of course. A lot of booze, but it was supposed to last for the next day, too. But they immediately put a bottle of champagne in the freezer to cool it for a few minutes and open it that night.

Dianna saw Davis pensive, looking out the window, at Sonny, who was gesticulating a lot in front of Jason. "Did you like it that Sonny came? Did you prefer to stay away from him, to make it easier?"

"Truth is, I don't know. I like to spend time with him, obviously, and it does make things harder sometimes. But I know that you wanted me to come here to just spend time together and talk, even as friends" Davis answered, looking back at Dianna, and Dianna nodded. That was exactly what she thought. Davis smiled, and added, "it's nice here. Can't wait to see the view in the morning". Everything was dark around them.

"Yeah" Dianna said, looking at Jason aggressively throwing wood sticks from a bag to the fire pit, while grumbling something to Sonny, and Sonny was indignant and stopped him, pointing at the grill. Apparently, those were the wood he'd use to smoke the meat, and not for the fire pit, and Jason just gave up, raised his hands, and quickly got inside the cabin, while Davis and Dianna clumsily disguised that they were watching the drama.

He went to the cooler and grabbed a beer, opened it and stood beside Dianna, leaning on the countertop and sipping the liquid. He was red with anger, and everyone kept quiet. For a minute.

"Lost the argument, Hayes?" Davis teased, because obviously Sonny would grill any meat he'd like, it was his expertise, along with bombs. She knew Jason was useless in that department.

Jason gave her a killer look, while she and Dianna chuckled. "I let him win once or twice a year. So he doesn't feel unappreciated".

"Thanks, guys" Jason murmured, looking at the fire pit, when all four of them were around the fire pit with marshmallows on sticks, after having an amazing meal. He raised his eyes and saw Dianna, Sonny and Davis smirking at him. They had just explained to him how they discovered Will's plan.

"No problem, boss. We know you'd do the same for us" Sonny simply stated, and the girls nodded.

Jason nodded too, but then he looked at Sonny. "You remembered, Sonny. You paid attention when I was being an ass and complaining to you about the statement", he said, emotional.

Sonny stared at Jason, emotional too. "Of course I'd remember, man. You were venting, and you're my brother".

Jason had tears in his eyes. "Yeah. Thanks for listening, brother" he put a hand on Sonny's shoulder, slightly shaking him".

Sonny was teary too "No problem, just glad I could help", then he nodded, but soon they both stood up and gave a quick hug and patting on the backs, sniffing.

Dianna and Davis watched it all with tears in their eyes too, and then Dianna felt the need to hug Sonny, because he was always so supportive, and Davis hugged Jason because they were always supportive to each other, then Davis and Sonny looked at each other, awkwardly. And Dianna and Jason too. Everyone sat down.

Dianna slightly shivered, and Jason noticed, and saw that Sonny looked tired.

"Hey, it's getting chilly out here, so why don't we all go inside, and soon we should go to bed too? Tomorrow we'll need to wake up early". And everyone nodded and agreed, and made their way inside. Davis gave a look to Dianna, and then glanced at Sonny, smirking, while he was throwing the bottles of beer in the thrash. Dianna soon understood that she meant she'd share a bedroom with Sonny.

So it was best if Dianna kept Jason on the other side of the lodge, which meant the living room and kitchen. And anyways, she wanted to talk to Jason alone, to see how things happened with Natalie. She sat by the fireplace with a blanket, watching him put some things in the fridge, and asked him if he was sleepy.

"I'm a bit tired, and you?" he sincerely said, holding back a yawn.

"Oh. Ok. I wanted to know about your conversation with Natalie, but we can talk tomorrow then".

Jason snorted. "Trust me, it's a long story. Honestly, I don't even want to talk about it right now, so I don't feel sick".

Dianna frowned. "That bad?" She really thought that there wouldn't be much of a heated fight between them, but his phone was broken, so she knew something happened. But she was curious.

"Probably worse than you think. But I felt really good doing it. I was back in control, you know?" He sat beside her in front of the fireplace.

She stared at him, happy. "That's all I wanted. I'm so happy for you".

He stared back, nodding. "Thanks for this. For letting me choose first. I know this couldn't have been easy for you".

She stared back, with teary eyes, nodding.

They kept looking at each other for a few moments, and Jason expected her to say something about if she forgave him or not, but she didn't, so he looked away. It was very painful for him to be this close to Dianna and not be allowed to touch her.

"I'll go to bed" he said, standing up, "and I don't know if you're going to Davis' bedroom or what, but I don't like it for you to stay alone here, you know, just in case of Dead Guy making a comeback" he said, and it was hard for Jason to say Will's name, so he brought back his nickname, which now was truer than ever.

"I'll sleep with you" Dianna quickly stood up, and when she saw his hopeful look, she clumsily added. "I mean literally, sleep in the same bed. I'm worried about you too. I'd sleep better that way".

He smiled, and she smiled back, but suddenly his smile vanished. "I don't think that's a good idea".

"What" she said, anxious, "Why not? I trust you to behave" she joked, smiling and tapping his arm.

He looked down. "I know that I made a mistake, but I don't think it's fair of you to give me hope and then decide you don't want to be with me" he stated, and now he was sure he was right. Dianna wanted him to think for himself and speak up, and it was very liberating for him. So he was doing just that. "Unless you've made a decision" he came closer, stern.

Dianna stuttered. "I think… I don't know, I'm afraid I'd regret it later, I just-"

"Yeah" he nodded, but then gave a quick smirk. "Good night. I'll be in the smaller bedroom" he said, nodding and walking backwards. "Please don't stay in the living room" he added, already close to the hallway, walking away.

Dianna stood up, looking at him leave, with the blanket around her body. She felt very ashamed of how she behaved, because, obviously, Jason was right. She now was completely out of sleep, so she walked to the kitchen and poured herself some wine in a glass, and sat back on the sofa, staring at the fireplace, and angry at herself because she was so scared of just deciding.

She knew she wanted to be with Jason, but since she began her exercise of remembering how he hurt her, she realized that even though he didn't hurt her before, the way he thought about her during those months still made her sick. It was like he took for granted everything she ever told him, and she understood that he didn't really think she was a slut, but mostly that he thought she just toyed with him and didn't want him at all, and that he didn't deserve her or whatever, but she didn't know if it made much difference, in the end. He still saw her as manipulating him, and kept thinking like that for almost half a year. She felt hurt but wanted to be with him, and she couldn't see how the future would unfold, so that was hard for her.

"Hello there" Davis joyfully teased, standing in the middle of the living room, in her pajamas. She held a laughter, but it was a cute scene. Dianna was on the leather sofa, all covered up to her head with the blanket, and there was an empty bottle of wine on the coffee table, with a glass next to it, half empty. But for Davis, the cutest part of it was Jason laying on the smaller sofa, all squeezed in it, and he had another blanket and a pillow, and was laying on his side, facing the sofa, and the blanket covered all of his face, too. So they both looked like giant colorful cocoons on the sofas. Sonny appeared right next to Davis, in his striped pajama pants and T-shirt, just when Jason and Dianna were lazily opening their eyes.

"Hey" Dianna said, and looked to the side and saw Jason turning on the sofa.

"Did you sleep here?" she asked, more awake, and annoyed.

Jason kept quiet while the three of them looked at him. He sat on the sofa, and muttered, annoyed, "I told you to sleep in the bedroom".

He was annoyed because she knew he'd worry about her and check on her later, and still, it was no surprise for him when, a couple of hours later, he found her sleeping on the sofa, in a very vulnerable area of the house, since it was surrounded by windows and a glass door right behind it. It was any stalker's dream. And she was heavily asleep, because she didn't wake up when he called, and he didn't want to move her around, so he sighed and decided to just get his pillow and blanket and continue to sleep there, in a small and uncomfortable sofa, and now his back and neck were already feeling the pain.

Dianna sat on the sofa too, quickly realizing what happened, and she knew she couldn't be angry at him, so she decided to just apologize at once. "I'm sorry. I couldn't sleep and I must've drank too much" she said and glanced at the bottle, which answered her question, "I was planning on going to the bedroom".

Jason slowly and painfully stood up, wearing his plaid pajama pants and gray T-shirt, and grabbed his blanket and pillow, "Yeah, what's new" he mumbled, walking away, "you were planning on going to the basement, planning on just making Dead Guy take off his helmet..." he continued mumbling while walking to his bedroom, grumpy as fuck, and ignoring Davis and Sonny completely when passing by them.

Dianna felt less grumpy and more uncomfortable by the second. She blinked, still sitting on the sofa. "What time is it?" she asked Davis, afraid it was already late, because the living room was bathed in light.

"Still early. Just woke up" Davis joyfully said, she had a great night.

"It's 0800" Sonny precisely said. Dianna nodded, it was early but not that early. They had to wash all of the plates and glasses the people would use, and open up the cabin for the light to come in. And Sonny would have to prepare the meat and part of the sidings, with the help of his assistent Hayes.

"It's really beautiful here" Davis dreamily said, walking in her silk turquoise pajamas to the bigger window, and the cabin was surrounded by mountains and a plain green area on the side, next to where the fire pit was. Dianna stood up to take in the view and sun too, agreeing with Davis.

They would definitely enjoy that sunny day.

The rest of the hours until when the 'guests' would come passed by really fast, and Full Metal, Trent and Brock arrived before the others, at 9:30AM, to help, and Full Metal said they should put the large table on the green area, next to the glass door, because the sun would soon change side and there would be shadow there. Obviously he used that place a lot to entertain guests. Dianna hadn't even talked to Jason that morning, only about the arrangements and in a haste, but she felt nervous when she saw Ray coming with Naima, and their kids and Mikey with them. Jason was on the grill area and greeted them first, giving his son a bear hug, while she was setting the beverages on a table. Jason walked slowly to where Dianna was, looking at how joyful she looked when Mikey casually greeted her, he was smiling a lot and they talked for a while, still smiling. Jason thought Dianna looked like a lifestyle influencer, wearing her simple jeans, low caramel boots, and a burgundy romantic and delicate blouse. Her shiny hair was loose and a bit wavy. He felt a warmth in his heart, but kept his distance, and Mikey then got inside to say hello to the rest of the guys.

Right after that, Clay and Stella arrived, and Emma with them, and they were bringing side dishes and some beverages, too.

"Hey dad" Emma quickly went to greet him, giving him a kiss and a hug. "How are you?" she asked, with a sad smile, because of his breakup.

But Jason smiled back at her, caressing her head with his hand. "I'm doing great, Emms, don't worry".

"But what happened? You were doing so good together. Is there any chance of you two getting back together?" she said, a bit exasperated, because she liked Natalie, she was very supportive of his dad, and she always listened to Emma. She thought her dad was a little calmer with her. A couple of months before dating Natalie, his dad was grumpy and bitter, losing his temper all the time, and before surgery he was really scared, but he improved a lot when he was with Natalie.

Jason knew Emma liked Natalie, so he didn't want to make Emma hate her too. "Life happened, kiddo. We just weren't meant to be. But there's no chance of us getting back, for sure" he said, but she looked at him, confused. "We weren't doing good together, Emms. I was feeling very miserable underneath. But I'm great now, and that's all that matters" he smiled at her, and she smiled, too, trying to understand his side.

Jason decided he needed to introduce Dianna, since they never met in person. "Come, say hello to everyone. I don't know if you met Dianna in person yet" he guided her to Dianna, who was distracted and quickly turned.

"Oh I don't think so, but I do remember that you had a problem with my dad's truck" Emma joked, making the others laugh. "Hi, nice to meet you in person" she said, giving Dianna a quick hug and a kiss.

"Hi, nice to meet you too. And thank you, really, for the video. You should make more DIY's in the future" Dianna chuckled, making Emma laugh and glance at Jason.

"She's the one from google, right?" Emma asked, pointing, and Jason nodded, chuckling.

"Well that is impressive. Your interrogations must be really fun, too, from what dad and the guys mentioned to me. You're back in town?" Emma asked, interested, and Jason distanced from them, because they were now only talking to each other.

"I am, back in the team, actually. Had to leave for some training" Dianna said, happy that now she could say something about the real reason why she left, even though she couldn't say she was working for the CIA".

Emma raised an eyebrow. "Some special training?"

Dianna chuckled, Emma had a lot of the same mannerisms as her dad. "Well… yes" she said with a proud and playful smile.

Emma came closer. "I know CIA agents work with my dad's team", then when Dianna just continued to look at her, smirking and waiting, Emma casually asked. "You're CIA?"

Dianna was exploding of happiness, she always wanted to say that, and so far no one had asked, so she said it with a very clear and blasé voice. "I can neither confirm nor deny". And they both chuckled.

Everyone was having a lot of fun at the barbecue, and Jason purposely sat close to Dianna so he could hear her conversation and talk to her, but not too close that Emma and Mikey thought they were together. Because the truth was, they weren't.

"But how could you work so long just talking to those awful people, and with all these sad cases?" Stella asked Dianna, since Ray's kids, and Mikey, were sitting far away.

"I don't know. It's just what I'm good at. Someone has to do it, and I really like it. The sensation you feel when you finally figure out what that awful person did, or how to catch them, or when you break them and gets a confession, feels great".

"I get you" Naima said, close to them. "Working long hours at a hospital isn't for everyone. But I'm good at it and I like when I can help".

"Yes" Dianna nodded, after sipping her soda. "When you're good at something, and you like to do that, I guess it just becomes clear that that is your purpose".

Everyone around nodded, because they all worked with purpose, and they loved their jobs.

"But how can we tell if we're good enough?" Emma suddenly asked to the table, "and not just mixing up a dream with a real job?". Jason swallowed, because it was obvious that Emma was insecure about her singing career, after all, it was a very hard one.

"Oh, sweety, you're great! Don't worry, you'll be a success soon enough" Naima said, affectionate, and everyone nodded around. But Emma still seemed anxious, everyone always just said that to her and it wasn't helpful.

"Do you want to be famous, Emma?" Dianna turned to Emma and suddenly and bluntly asked, as she normally did.

Emma smirked and shrugged. "Well, of course. I mean, who doesn't?"

"I didn't" Dianna bluntly stated, but she said so smirking, and not judging. But still, everyone at the table next to them kept quiet, and Jason didn't even move his hand to cut his meat. He was a bit afraid that Dianna could hurt Emma's feelings or something.

Dianna saw that Emma just stared, and added "I don't think anyone here expected to be famous at their jobs. The guys even chose top secret jobs, but everyone here love what they do".

Emma squirmed a bit, "Well, yes, but singing is different".

"But do you want to be famous or recognized?" Dianna asked again, gesturing, and Emma kept thinking, so she continued, "Because you're really good at what you do, and you obviously love doing it. So you already know your purpose. And because of your talent, you can certainly make a great living and be recognized by a lot of people and by your peers" Dianna said, and Stella, Naima and Jason nodded. So Dianna continued.

"But being famous is a completely different thing. You can be famous for doing nothing important or for being great at something. If you want to be famous just for the sake of it, it depends a lot about luck and marketing, and has nothing to do with talent. If you want to be recognized and be famous because of your talent, you just need to keep doing what you do best. The fame is a consequence of your good work, and is out of your control. So you can't really stress about it. The question is, would you be happy if you were recognized as a great singer, or only if you were famous too?" Dianna gestured during her explanation, and now everyone turned to Emma.

"I guess… I would love to be recognized. I wouldn't mind that much if I wasn't famous. I'd just like to reach out as many people I could, that's all", she sincerely answered, smiling.

Dianna smiled back, nodding. "Good for you, then. You're not even an adult yet and you already know your purpose in life, and know that no matter what, you will be happy with a career in the music industry. Now just enjoy it, and live it. Maybe in the future, hire an agent to help you reach out all those people you want. But you're already recognized around here".

Emma liked Dianna, a lot. "Thanks. I should've recorded that for when I'm feeling down" she joked, and everyone laughed.

"If you want to, I can record you a motivational audio. The guys say I have a very pleasant voice on the radio" Dianna joked, talking like a flight attendant, and everyone laughed again.

"Actually, you can" Emma answered, sincerely. "My friends would love to hear that, too".

Jason, next to them and hearing attentively, felt a fuzzy feeling in his heart again.

People were finishing eating the desserts that were brought for the barbecue, and some guys were now sipping whiskey and planning on taking a hike up the highest mountain they could see, because that would be a 'piece of cake' for Bravo Team, while the girls were discussing if that second or third piece of pie would fit inside their stomachs, and quickly saying that of course it would.

Davis' phone rang, and after taking the call, she got back and stood up in between the group of the guys and the girls.

"Guys, I have news" she said, loudly, and everyone turned. Bravo Team quickly stood up because they noticed her stern expression.

"Dead Guy was caught. He got shot and is in the hospital now, having surgery" she said, and the guys and Dianna all celebrated, and Stella, Naima and Emma looked at each other, confused.

But Davis raised her arm, because she wasn't finished, and everyone kept quiet, again, and Jason instinctively walked next to Dianna, concerned.

"Luke shot him. Will wanted revenge and was caught by Luke near his house, when Luke noticed his front door was rigged with bombs. Will was watching, probably. Luke ran to his house to check on it, when Lindell told him about what happened to… what happened" Davis said, quickly stopping herself to mention Jason, when she remembered his kids were there.

"That despicable son of a bitch. Sorry" Sonny loudly grunted, apologizing because of the women and kids present.

"But why… why did Will go after Luke?" Dianna asked, "They got along just fine when I worked with Echo".

Davis shrugged. "Apparently, not anymore. Luke refused to testify in behalf of Will when his attorney looked for him. And maybe because of something else, too, but Lindell didn't want to say over the phone".

Everyone stared, and the guys quickly said they'd testify in behalf of Luke, because they'd obviously do the same, or worse, if they caught him, and Dianna and Jason explained quickly who 'Dead Guy' was for the women and Mikey. Jason decided to just say that Will was an ex-Seal that got in jail for stalking, that got out of prison and was looking for trouble, but that he definitely had it coming.

So everyone enjoyed the rest of the day, and Jason and Dianna gave each other a bear hug, relieved because finally Dead Guy would be kept away.
