Josh called off his engagement to Caroline. Yolanda came over to check on him and found him drinking on his balcony.
"How you doin baby?" she asked, sitting down next to him.
"I ended it" he told her.
"Yeah I had a feeling. How are you feeling about that?" she asked, concerned.
"Relieved I guess. I mean you already know I was having my doubts this week and I was so stressed, until I got that blanket" he said, a slight smile appearing.
Yolanda smiled knowingly. "But it turned out to be from Gabi, not Caroline"
He shook his head "I'm such an idiot, I should have known, it was such a Gabi thing to do, she's so sweet and thoughtful. Caroline's never done anything like that for me"
"You couldn't see straight then but now that you can, what are you going to do about it?" she asked, prompting him to action.
"I'm thinking about going over to Gabi's, is that crazy?" he asked, downing his drink in one gulp for courage as he turned to her.
"I'll drive" she smiled.
A huge grin crossed Josh's face as he got up and hugged her.
"Flowers, I need flowers" he said.
They stopped on the way so he could buy red roses.
They got to Gabi's apartment and Yolanda parked the car.
"This is it" Josh said blowing out a breath, calming his nerves. "Am I being crazy? You'd stop me if you thought I was being crazy right? I literally just called off my wedding" he said, staring at her for an answer.
"Josh, this thing with you and Gabi has been building all along, but you needed to realize it. You made the right choice ending things with Caroline. Now get out of this car and go get your girl" she encouraged.
"Thanks Yolanda" he said kissing her cheek before getting out.
He looked up at her apartment and was happy to see a light on.
He climbed the fire escape until he reached her floor and crossed to the window.
He smiled as he saw that she was still up, adding finishing touches to his would be wedding cake.
He knocked lightly on the window.
She jumped and let out a little scream. When she realized it was him, she put her hand to her heart and took a deep breath, trying to calm herself after the scare. Then it struck her that it was the middle of the night and he was on the fire escape instead of at the door.
She rushed over to the window to let him in.
"Josh, what are you doing here? It's the middle of the night and you're getting married tomorrow!" she said.
He climbed in and took in her appearance, looking cute in her pajamas. He grinned.
"That's the thing, I'm not" he said seriously, refocusing.
She didn't follow. "You're not…?" she asked, waiting for him to finish the sentence, at the same time noticing the roses in his hand.
"Gabi, I called off the wedding" he said.
"Oh my god, are you ok?" she asked, genuinely concerned.
"I really am. It was the right choice" he said, knowing it was true.
He handed her the flowers "These are for you"
"For me? Why?" she asked, confused.
"Because you love pretty woman, and you deserve someone who will climb up your fire escape to bring you roses. Gabi, you are amazing. Making that blanket for me was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me, and that made me see that Caroline was not the person I'm supposed to be with, you are" he said hopefully.
She quickly dropped the flowers and closed the distance between them and pulled his face down to hers, kissing him.
He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close against his body as he opened his mouth to deepen the kiss.
She dropped her hands to his upper arms, squeezing them as they kissed deeply.
They slowly broke the kiss "Wow" she said staring up at him.
"Wow indeed, that was incredible" he said leaning down to kiss her again.
"Wait Josh! She said holding up her hands to stop him. "Should we be doing this? You just called off your wedding" she said, trying to be reasonable but she moved closer to his face, prompting him to kiss her again.
She pulled back "Damnit, I cant stop myself. I need Sofia to talk some sense into me"
Sofia ran out from the hallway "He pretty woman'd you! Kiss him! Do more than kiss him" she winked before grabbing a bottle of wine and going back to her room.
Josh laughed "Gabi, I get your hesitation but I am sure. We can take it slow though if you want"
"I don't want" she insisted. "Its just the last time we got together, the next day you got back together with Caroline AND asked her to marry you. So maybe we should wait and see how you feel tomorrow?" she asked.
"That's fair" he agreed. "Since we aren't going to sleep together tonight, can I stay and actually sleep with you? It is the middle of the night and its been a crazy day"
She eyed him skeptically. "That sounds dangerous."
"Just sleep I swear" he said crossing his heart.
"Can we eat your wedding cake first?" she asked eyeing the cake.
"Lets do it" he grinned. "Eat the cake I mean" he added quickly.
She made up the couch bed as he cut the cake, cutting an extra piece for Sofia, which Gabi delivered to her door.
Sofia pulled her inside and hugged her. "I was wrong, he came for you, I'm so happy for you"
"I know! I cant believe it. I just hope he still feels the same tomorrow " she said hopefully.
"He will" Sofia confirmed.
"How do you know?" she asked.
"Gabi he's here, he called off his wedding for you. He's crazy about you. This is the real deal" she said hugging her.
They said goodnight and she rejoined Josh in the living room.
He had gotten ready for bed, taking his shirt and pants off, leaving him in just his boxers.
"Oh my" Gabi said, eyeing his bare chest. "This is gonna be a long night"
They ate their cake in bed. "This is delicious" Josh complimented.
"I have to admit it was difficult to make, not just technically but because it was for your wedding. I've been having a hard time this week, especially with your reaction to the blanket. I was going to tell you but Sofia reminded me that you were happy with Caroline and I didn't want to ruin that, but full disclosure I was going to quit while you were on your honeymoon. There's just no way I would have been able to see you married to her every day."
"I wish you had told me but its okay because Elliott did. I wouldn't be able to not see you everyday"
"I'm sorry Elliott? Elliott Park? The one who hates me?" she asked disbelievingly.
"Don't tell him I told you but he's really a teddy bear"
"More like a chucky doll" she said, making him laugh.
They settled down into bed together, pulling the covers up and getting comfy.
"Well, sweet dreams Gabi" he said, smiling at her.
"You know I don't see the harm in a little goodnight kiss" she grinned flirtatiously.
He rolled over on his side and cupped her cheek, leaning over to kiss her. She put her hand on his bare shoulder then moved it over his back, relishing the feeling of his toned body. She let out a little moan.
He pulled back "you're killing me" he sighed.
"Yeah well same. I cant get enough of your kisses" she said staring at his lips, prompting him to kiss her again, this one full of passion.
She pulled him over onto her, spreading her legs so his waist fell between them. He supported himself on his elbows but she pulled his body tight against hers, enjoying the feeling of his weight on her. She ran her hands up his back as they kissed hungrily. He reached down and pulled one of her legs up against his waist, sliding his hand down her skin, slightly under the hem of her shorts before stopping himself. He kissed her sweetly once more before rolling off of her and onto his back.
"I think this is going to be really good" she smiled.
"It already is" he grinned. "Goodnight Gabi"
"Goodnight Josh" she said and turned over on her side, smiling when he snuggled up to her and wrapped her in his arms.
