Chapter 2

"Just go. Go and don't come back. You're not welcome here, anyway," InuYasha said as he tried to push Sesshomaru back.

But when the demon didn't move, InuYasha cursed as he stood up and walked away from his brother and the Bone Eater's well. Sesshomaru didn't try to stop him as he watched his brother's back disappear into the forest beyond the village. Neither brother knew what to do with their situation, and at that moment, neither wanted to acknowledge InuYasha's pregnancy honestly.

That was two weeks ago—two weeks of dealing with hormonal changes. Two weeks of having his friends fuss over him. Two weeks of watching his belly grow double its size. And two weeks of silence from his heartless brother. But can he really blame Sesshomaru for leaving him alone to deal with his pregnancy on his own, especially after he told the daiyōkai never to come back? Despite this truth, it still hurts knowing that his elder brother wants nothing to do with InuYasha or their pup.

One would have thought that Sesshomaru, with his pride, would take responsibility for his actions and put InuYasha in his less-than-desirable state. But InuYasha has been wrong before. And, he knew that he couldn't fault Sesshomaru for abandoning him. He still wasn't even 100% sure of what an omega was or what it meant. However, he understood what it meant to be a hanyo meant. And who would want a hanyo as the mother of their child? No one, that's who. So, it made sense when two weeks of no work from Sesshomaru meant that he would most likely go through his pregnancy alone. And, despite having his friends with him, he still felt a sense of longing and resentment for his brother deep inside of him. The only thing he could do now was protect his pup and be the best father he could be to them. He only hoped it would be enough.

"InuYasha?"

The hanyo turned around and saw his heavily pregnant friend, Sango, and Sesshomaru's young ward, Rin, looking at him with concern in their eyes.

"What are you doing here?" he asked as he turned back around with his arms in his sleeves and adjusted his spot on the village's fence.

"We came to check on you. You've been out here mopping for the past several hours," Sango said as they walked to lean over the fence.

"I'm fine… just thinking…"

"About what, Master InuYasha?" asked Rin.

"Just… a lot, kid. It's adult stuff, nothing for you to worry about."

"Are you worried that Lord Sesshomaru won't come back?"

A blush appeared on his face before he huffed and turned further away so they couldn't see. "Fuck no. In fact, if I see that bastard again, it would be too soon."

"He'll come back, you know. He always will come back, especially since you're going to give birth to his baby!" she smiled.

"Ack! How did you know that? You ain't supposed to know that!"

"Calm down, InuYasha. She's Lady Kaeda's apprentice and will help you deliver your baby. It was only a matter of time before she found out." Sango explained.

"I also heard some of you adults talking about a week ago. I'm sorry, Master InuYasha, I didn't mean to upset you," Rin frowned.

"It's alright, kid. It ain't your fault. Sango's right: you would have figured it out eventually, anyway. And these damn hormones aren't doing me any favors. Ugh, has the old hag found anything about Inu omegas yet? I'm getting so big! I want to know when the pup will get here already!"

"Lady Kaeda is doing her best, InuYasha. It's not like the information is easy to come by. Besides, I wouldn't rush things yet. You're about as big as me right now. Who knows, you might be having twins," giggled Sango.

"Ack! Don't say that. One pup will be enough to handle on my own. I can't imagine having two by that bastard," he sighed as he rubbed his hand over his face. "I wonder what Kagome would say if she saw me now. What would she think of me? She'd probably be disgusted. I know I am. I can't believe that I'm even in this situation, and alone at that. This fucking sucks."

"You're not alone, InuYasha. Lord Sesshomaru may not be here with you right now, but you still have Lady Kaeda, Miroku, Shippo, Rin, and myself to help you. And the best part is that we're pregnant at the same time, so our kids can grow up together. As for Kagome, I'm not sure what she'd say. But I don't think she would be disgusted by you. I think, like she did with everything else, she'd support you and help you take care of your baby."

"You think so?"

Sango nodded, "I know so."

"That's… comforting. Thanks, Sango," InuYasha smiled.

Before the conversation could continue, Shippo came running up to them, out of breath. "You guys need to come to Lady Kaeda's hut. Lord Sesshomaru is here and looking for you, InuYasha."

"What does that bastard want with me?" The hanyo asked angrily.

"He didn't say, but he brought Jaken and some lady with him. They said it's important for you to talk to them right away."

"He might be here to talk about the baby finally. You should go talk to him," Sango encouraged.

"Well, if he's here to take my pup away, he'll have to kill me first," InuYasha said before storming off in the direction of Kaeda's hut.

It took them a few moments before the small group arrived and saw Lady Kaeda, Sesshomaru, a strange female demoness, and Jaken waiting for them.

"Lord Sesshomaru, Master Jaken! Welcome back!" Rin greeted them as she ran towards them.

"What the hell do you want, Sesshomaru? I haven't heard from you for two weeks, and now you want to show your ugly mug around here after I told you not to. You've got a lot of nerve, ya bastard," InuYasha huffed as he crossed his arms over the top of his large belly.

"This must be the young lord that I've heard so much about. He's just as handsome and fiery as I imagined, Lord Sesshomaru," the female demoness giggled behind her hand before bowing before them.

"Who the hell are you? One of this asshole's servants?" InuYasha growled as he looked at her up and down.

She was a feline demoness with pale skin, long black and white hair in a knee-length braid, shoulder-length bangs, green-hazel eyes, jasmine flowers throughout her hair, and a white and brown kimono with detachable sleeves.

"Yes. My name is Naoru. I am the castle healer and have been working for your family for generations, young lord. It's a pleasure to meet all of you," She said as she rose to a standing position with her hands in her sleeves.

"That's well and great and all, but no one has answered my damned question: What the hell are y'all doing here?"

"InuYasha! Ye should show some respect for our guests. They have informed me that they're here about your condition and would like to help you," Kaeda scolded. "My apologies, milord and Lady Narou. He's been a bit testy from his hormones lately."

"InuYasha… may we talk in private?" Sesshomaru asked as he stepped forward.

"No. Whatever you have to say can be said in front of my pack. Otherwise, you can kiss my ass and fuck off again."

"How dare you be disrespectful, hanyo! No one talks to Lord Sesshomaru that way and lives!" Jaken squawked.

"Except me. That bastard knows that I could kick his ass any day of the week, even in my current condition. Now, kindly say what the fuck you want to say and leave us alone," he said, causing his elder brother to glare.

"InuYasha," Sesshomaru growled.

"Lord InuYasha~"

"InuYasha is fine. No need for all that lord crap."

"We have come here to examine you and discuss the proposition about returning to your father's castle for residency," Narou explained.

"What?!"

"You've got to be kidding me! If you think that you can waltz into our village and convince me to go home with you after everything that has happened, you've got another thing coming. I ain't going nowhere."

"Lord InuYasha, if I may be so bold. After much consideration, convincing, and persuasion, Lord Sesshomaru saw the error of his ways in the situation. He has acknowledged your pregnancy to the Council and his mother, Lady InuKimi, to which we are all very excited to have you within the castle walls. You are the first omega to grace your lineage in a long time. Do you know what that means?"

"No. Sesshomaru tried explaining it to me before, but I still don't know anything about omegas."

"Of course you don't. However, it is not your fault. If Lord Sesshomaru had allowed you into the castle earlier in your life, you would have grown up the way your father intended. However, there is nothing we can do about that now. Lord InuYasha, what being an omega means is that you are a valuable asset to your lineage and our species. You can give birth to pups to strengthen your clan and bring heirs to future lords. However, you are also considered high risk during this time. From the stories that I've heard, you are strong, but your capabilities are limited during this time. Also, it is best if you have the sire of your pup near you throughout the pregnancy to help lower your chances of miscarriage. Again, there is nothing we can do about you possibly being as long as Lord Sesshomaru believes you are, but from here on out, we will be taking care of you until the pup is born and you are released," Narou explained.

"How long am I supposed to be? And when would I be released to come back here?"

"If my calculations are correct, then you should be about five to six weeks along. Dog demons only carry for about eight to nine weeks. And, considering how big you are, I would say that you're possibly carrying twins! Twins are also a rarity for dog demons. I wouldn't know without examining you thoroughly, but if my hypothesis is correct, then you would not only be the first omega to be born in centuries, but you will also bless your lineage with twins! Lord Sesshomaru may not show it, but he is proud of the mate he's chosen."

"Yeah fuckin' right! He ain't never been proud of me for shit. And now, since he already ruined my life, he thinks he can come in and tell me what the fuck to do? Absolutely not. Thank you for the information. Was it Narou? –, but I'm good. I'm going to tell you the same thing I said to the bastard two weeks ago: go away and do not come back. Neither of you are welcome here. This is my home, this is my pack, and these are my pup(s). If you want, then you can take them over my cold, dead body. I haven't needed your help all this time, and I don't need it now. You can't just waltz your uptight ass into my life and demand things of me. So, go home, Lord Sesshomaru. Your presence is no longer needed here," InuYasha dismissed as he turned his back to his brother with his arms crossed.

Everyone gasped as an angry Sesshomaru appeared in front of InuYasha with a stern glare, causing the hanyo to jump back.

"InuYasha, I have had enough of your insolence. You are entitled to feel however you want about me, but you will not endanger my heirs. Now, the decision has already been made. In two weeks' time, a carriage will arrive to transport you to our father's castle. Once there, you will be examined and catered to until you deliver. Afterward, you will remain in the castle until you are released. Only then may you return to this village. Is that understood?"

"And if I refuse?" he challenged.

Although Sesshomaru did not say anything, his glare was all the threat he needed to let InuYasha know that there was no room for discussion. Just as the hanyo was about to open his mouth in refusal, Sango waddled her way to his side and whispered, "I think you should go."

"Are you crazy?!"

"I know what it looks like, but you won't be there long if you think about it. Maybe a month or two, and you'll be safe. Like that Narou lady said, your abilities are limited during your pregnancy. There's no safer place than with Sesshomaru and the other demons. Besides, don't you want your pup(s) to be delivered safely in a castle instead of in danger out here? What if word gets around about your condition? You'll be in more danger than the rest of us," she explained.

"But, what about you guys? Who's gonna protect y'all if I'm not around?"

"We'll be fine. Please, just do as he says, and we'll be waiting right here when you come back, ok?"

Despite his instincts and wishes, InuYasha considered Sango's words before nodding and turning back to Sesshomaru.

"When will the carriage be here?"

"Two weeks. That should be plenty of time for travel and for you to say your goodbyes for now," Sesshomaru answered.

"Lord Sesshomaru, I must protest," Narou spoke. "Two weeks is long enough. He's already been away from you for far too long. Your presence is required for proper growth of the pup(s) to prevent a miscarriage."

"I will have you examine him before we leave. If he is in good enough condition, we will leave. If not, he will come with us today without resistance. Will that suffice, InuYasha?"

"You're asking me. Hm. That's a first," InuYasha sighed before uncrossing his arms and turning towards Narou. "Alright, lady, let's get this examine over with."

As promised, Narou examined InuYasha and confirmed that he was in perfect health for someone as far along as he was. Her hypothesis was also correct. InuYasha was about five weeks and four days, almost six weeks along. He also carried twins, but the gender would be unknown until he delivered them. And, as promised and despite Narou's protests, they left with the promise of the carriage's arrival in two weeks' time. InuYasha barely paid them attention as they left, his mind more preoccupied with his departure and loss of freedom.

The following two weeks went by uneventful but full of dread. On the day the carriage arrived with a few strong lizard guards, everyone said their heartfelt goodbyes, especially a teary-eyed Sango. InuYasha smiled as he hugged her and promised to bring the twins back to grow up with her twins. After everyone gave their goodbyes, the hanyo loaded his now seven weeks and two days pregnant self into the carriage and secured himself as the carriage took off, making sure to look out the window until the village disappeared in the distance. However, he would not make it to the castle.

About two days into the trip, the carriage was attacked. Something hit the outside, causing it to shake and tremble before it crashed to the ground. The heavily pregnant hanyo braced himself for impact as the carriage landed safely on the ground. Outside, InuYasha heard the few lizard guards fighting with other various demons. He tried to go out and help, but the twins kicked him back into his seat with great discomfort.

"Come on, guys. I don't have time for this! I have to go out and fight!" he loudly whispered, rubbing his stomach to calm them down.

After a few moments, the pups calmed down enough for InuYasha to jump into action. He grabbed Tessaiga and kicked the door open. As he stepped out of the carriage, an alligator demon rushed him. InuYasha summoned all of his might, swung the sword, and sliced the demon in half. However, that was too much for him to handle, and he fell to his knees, using his sword to prop himself up. A few more demons rushed at him, but InuYasha was quicker. He gathered more of his strength and swung his sword again, summoning his Wind Scar and effectively killing any demons that were in the way. However, as soon as he released his attack, he felt a blinding pain in his stomach.

He gripped himself around his belly and fell to his knees as his sword transformed and fell to the ground beside him. His vision faded as the rest of his body fell to the ground. As he lay on the ground, InuYasha could hear the remaining demons talk about taking him to another castle. A feeling of dread filled his senses before he finally passed out.
