Hi Gleeks! I have a quick announcement!
I published my first book! It's called "The Hopeless Dynasty" By Erin Rancan! It's available on Amazon! It's a fantasy/romance if you're interested! : )
I also apologize for this chapter being pretty short. Haha!
Hope you enjoy!
"Baby, It's cold outside!"
Kurt and Blaine both ended their duet. The second duet they shared. Eyes connected as they were now sitting shoulder by shoulder on the infamous Warbler Coach. Kurt can see the difference in chemistry between him and Blaine. They are even more comfortable with one another. Who knew he could be so comfortable with another guy just like him?
"Just for the record, you'll be much better than that girl will be."
Kurt can feel the blush rise to his cheeks. He bit his lips to keep his composure. As the boy walked towards the door, he saw his former teacher walk in. The boy and the man gave each other subtle glances and nods.
"Hey Kurt!" He smiled at the boy.
"Mr. Shue!" Kurt exclaimed as he embraced the man. His eyes were definitely gleaming at the good memories he had in the New Directions. He saw the teacher look back at Blaine who was now out the door, and looked back at Kurt with a raised eyebrow. "Someone special?" He asked, in a teasing manner.
"No no." Kurt blushed but shook his head firmly. "He's just a friend." He sighed as he looked out the door. "Just a good friend."
The two had a really nice and long talk. About plans for the upcoming winter break.
Kurt found out yesterday that Finn is going to be throwing a Holiday Party at the house and he was invited. Even though it's his house too.
He can't wait to see the Glee club again.
But he wouldn't be lying if he says he isn't nervous about seeing Sam…
Sam pulled up to the Hudson-Hummel household. He sighed as he looked over to the empty passenger seat. He invited Quinn to come to the party with him but she says she was busy. He doubts she is.
He will admit that he's been lying to himself about his relationship with Quinn. They've been rocky recently. They used to feel such a strong chemistry together, but now, they can't get comfortable with one another.
Maybe it's good he's going to the holiday party solo. No girls, no romance. He can chill with the football guys. It's starting to look up for him.
He looked up at the door and gently knocked it. He saw other cars outside the house, so he knows he's not the first one there, luckily.
"Sam?"
Sam held his breath seeing Kurt in the doorway. He was wearing a cream color cardigan buttoned up, and light blue pants.. His hair didn't look as done as usual, making him look more casual. His skin was flawless as always, with his nose tinted in redness, due to cold weather outside in Lima.
"Kurt." Sam simply responded. "I didn't know you were coming. I thought at a private school like Dalton, you'll still be having finals."
Kurt looked up at him and slowly moved to the side to subconsciously allow Sam in. "No, we finished the same time as you, except I probably failed a few." Kurt nervously laughed but Sam laughed louder, making the boy jump. "You think you failed? I got a 38% on my math midterm. Funny, ain't it?" He laughed as Kurt finally gently pulled his arm so he would take the invitation into the house. "Yeah." Kurt cringed. "Funny."
More and more people were coming to the party. It wasn't huge, just the Glee kids, minus Quinn but including Lauren. Sam was mainly chilling with the football buds and Kurt was hanging with the girls. Sam kept making glances at the boy in the corner. He always admired how well put together Kurt always looked. He took pride in his appearance. With his freshly clean skin, his nicely-washed clothes, his perfectly styled hair. There was just something in the way he held himself.
Then Sam looks at the other boys, and they all look the total opposite. Sure, they were attractive teen boys, but Sam could tell they were wearing day old clothes and hardly ever use conditioner while showering.
Sam could be a victim of this as well.
But Kurt just stood out from all the rest.
Sam saw Kurt whisper something to Mercedes. She then just nodded and patted his shoulder. He got up from his seat and made his way over to the drink station. Sam knew he could follow him right now and the boys wouldn't even notice. Only the girls would, because they love the drama. So he did exactly that.
He casually walked up at the drink station. Sam slightly wished there was alcohol served there to take the edge off, but Burt wouldn't allow it.
Sam slightly walked towards Kurt, who was pouring his own punch. His eyes averted. Sam just took a sip of his already filled drink cup. He soon poured the remaining contents of liquid down the sink drain when Kurt wasn't looking, to look when he was getting seconds.
"So…" Sam began, Kurt side eyeing him but not giving him his full attention yet. "Whose leg you gotta hump to get a dry martini here?" Sam spoke in a low, and sort of creepy voice.
Kurt then dropped his ladle and stepped back as the punch splashed on the ground. "What?!" Kurt exclaimed. Confusion in his voice. He sounded like he just had been asked to strip or something. Obviously he didn't get the reference.
"Family guy?" Sam sputtered. Kurt still looked at him with the same blue eye stare. "Brian Griffin? The alcoholic dog? Popular quote?" Sam tried to explain but got no reaction from the boy. "Nothing?" He asked helplessly. Redness rushed to his face.
"Nothing." Kurt confirmed. He picked up the ladle from the ground and began to wash it off. "There's a talking alcoholic dog in that show? That's terrifying." Kurt said in a plain voice, as he continued to wash off the ladle.
"It's a good show! I love all those adult cartoons! Do you?" Sam asked. Trying to start a good conversation.
"Finn does." Kurt mentioned. "But I just leave the room when he turns them on."
"Oh." Sam nervously laughed. "So no Simpsons?"
"Nope."
"South park?"
"What's that?"
"Futurama?"
"Is that a "back to the future" parody?"
Sam couldn't help but laugh. His laughter made Kurt smile. Sam will admit, Kurt was quick witted and he loved it.
Kurt smiled into his cup and began to walk back over to his lady friends.
"Kurt, hold up!"
Kurt stopped in his tracks and gracefully turned back around. Half his face is still in his punch cup.
"Can I sit with you?" He asked. Not even expecting himself to ask that. Kurt just raised an eyebrow at him and quickly turned back to his girl group.
"Really?" Kurt sounded surprised as well. "You know we just talk about the latest fashion trends and singers from the last centuries. Except for Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Britney Spears." Kurt mentioned with a small smile. "Doesn't seem like you're forte."
Sam scoffed and waved his hand in Kurt's direction. "I'm down to hear some gossip." He stated as he leaned closer to whisper in Kurt's ear. "Is that what you call it?"
Kurt just jokingly rolled his eyes with a smile and gestures for him to join them. Ignoring the weird and confused glances he was getting from the guys.
Kurt and Sam could confidently say they were having the time of their lives at this party. There was no awkward tension at all. It was filled with laughter and hardly any drama. Kurt even felt comfortable enough to touch Sam's hair to put product in it while the girls were doing each other's hair. Sam didn't even flinch at the contact.
Sam could say that his feelings for Kurt were becoming stronger every minute he's with him. He's learning the different sides to him he didn't know before. His sweet and caring side, and his very witty humor. His favorite thing to do is show Kurt one of his impressions and Kurt to give him that very confused look. It leads to a very funny and wholesome conversation.
After the talk with Mrs. Pillsbury the other day, he felt empowered in a sense. She made him confident in his feelings and he learned that his emotions aren't weird like some may think. They are perfectly normal.
He was even tempted to tell Kurt about his feelings when the girls were talking about their boyfriends or crushes, He was just looking at Kurt the whole time.
But his mom raised him right. He can't do this while still with Quinn. He's not a player. He can't do that to her.
But still. The whole "What if?" aspect is coming to his head. What if he finally expresses his feelings? What if he can finally be happy?
"Kurt!" Mercedes exclaimed as she moved to his side. "I think you should call that boy from Dalton? The boy with the gelled hair! Ask him out!"
This made Sam turn around and look straight at Kurt. Wondering what he would say.
Kurt just shook his head nervously and scratched the nape of his neck. A nervous tick he tends to do.
"No, guys, it's fine." Was all he said. He even looked up at Sam through his freshly fallen bangs. "It's fine."
It felt like he was talking directly to Sam.
"Fine. I'll call him!" Santana exclaimed as she snatched the phone out of the boy's hands. Leading him to screech. "Santana!" Kurt exclaimed as he stood to get it back from her but she was walking to the other side of the room now.
"What is his name again?" She asked as she was still swiping through his contacts.
"Don't tell her!"
"Blaine!"
"Dammit, Tina!"
The small asian girl just shrugged and nervously sipped her drink. Kurt wrapped his arms around Santana to get to his phone from behind but she didn't budge. Sam kind of felt bad watching this all go down from the kitchen but it was kind of entertaining.
Suddenly, Kurt's phone started ringing, making Kurt yelp.
"Hey, can you guys do this somewhere else! The part where the Robbers get pranked to death is coming up." Puck mentioned as he gestured to "Home Alone" playing in the background. Artie turned in his chair to see the screen better.
"Santana! I didn't think you'd actually call him!" Kurt exclaimed as he snatched the phone back and saw the boy's contact name and picture. "That wasn't me, Hummel." Santana mentioned as she crossed her arms with a smirk.
Blaine was calling him.
"Okay nobody panic!" Kurt yelled to the group.
"Dude, the only one panicking is you. Untwist your leotard and answer it!" Finn said as he leaned back on the couch causally. Hand in the popcorn bucket. "Yeah, but can you take it outside? I wanna see the robber get a tarantula on his face." Puck mentioned as he paused right as the robber screamed his heart out at the bug. Puck laughed louder than he likes to admit. "Never get old."
Kurt nodded and rushed outside quickly before the phone call ended. Sam was tempted to press his ears against the door to eavesdrop, but he's better than that.
Once outside, Kurt inhaled as he slowly answered the phone on the last ring. Suddenly, he was very nervous to get a call from him.
"Hey Blaine. What's up?" Kurt said, trying to sound super casual.
"Kurt!" Blaine exclaimed. "Hi!"
Kurt could hear the nervousness coming off of his voice. He sounds more scared then he did. He hopes nothing bad has happened and he called Kurt because he had no other choice.
"Is everything okay?" He asked. Kurt could hear Blaine nervously laugh to himself. He could visually see Blaine scratching the back of his head, nervously.
"Yeah." He replied. "I'm sorry for doing this now, but…" He paused and Kurt's heart thumped. He hopes he isn't breaking off their friendship. Not this close to the holidays.
"I want to know if you want to go out."
Kurt's heart completely stopped at this point. His breathing hitched. He never thought he'd be asked out by a cute boy before, but he has to remain calm.
"Why the sudden interest?" He asked. Trying to keep his voice steady.
"Well, for some reason, all today I couldn't stop thinking about my feelings for you. At first, I wanted to be just friends but as time passed, my feelings were getting stronger and stronger but I never wanted to ask you out cause I thought you had feelings for Sam."
Kurt stopped breathing and looked at his shoes in sudden interest.
"But then you told me you don't have feelings for him, so I knew I could go for it. That's why I asked."
The boy nodded. So that's why he kept asking about his feelings for Sam…
I would have waited until we returned to Dalton but you have been on my mind." He replied. Kurt couldn't believe this was happening. He always assumes he's the last person on people's mind.
"So…" Blaine nervously chuckled. Kurt realized he still did not respond to the initial question.
Kurt sighed and peeked into the small window that led into the living room. He saw Sam still in the kitchen. Now making comments about the movie. Smiling and joking with the guys.
Kurt can't wait for him forever.
"Yes." Kurt finally replied. "Yes, I would go out with you."
"Really?!" Blaine exclaimed, excitingly. Kurt nodded, but Blaine couldn't see him. "Of course! I'd be crazy not to." He blushed.
The two of them talked for only a little while more. Blaine just didn't feel right hanging up on him after asking him such a big question.
After a few minutes, the two boys exclaimed their farewells. Kurt almost did a happy dance before walking into the room again. He was almost taken back by the stares he was receiving from the boys and the girls.
"So?" Santana asked. Kurt scoffed as he twirled his phone in his hands. "What did Mr. Dapper want to ask you?"
Kurt almost couldn't contain it and exclaimed, "He asked me out!"
Immediately the girls squealed and engulfed him. The boys gave him pat on the backs and gave a fist pump in the air.
Kurt looked back at Sam, he was giving him a sad smile.
Sam knew he had waited too long. He was too late, but he wasn't even out yet and he doesn't want Kurt to be his dirty little secret. He wants to walk down the halls holding him, he wants to be able to sing to him in Glee and not be ashamed of it. He wants to even serenade him in the courtyard and hold him at the end, but he knew that couldn't happen. At least he made a friend out of Kurt. That's good enough.
Right?...
