The House Guest
Elena rushes out of Stefan's bathroom as he walks into the room, getting ready for school. "Stefan, we're late for school," She reminds him.
"Let's be later," Stefan replies with a smirk, moving toward her.
"Stefan, it's school. Remember, that thing that we keep forgetting about?" Elena jokes.
"School?" He jokes back, kissing her teasingly. "Doesn't ring a bell?" He continues to kiss her, and she wraps her arms around him as he carries her towards the bed.
"Stefan!" The doppelganger giggles, lying on the bed as he crawls on her. "Okay, 5 minutes, only 5 minutes," She kisses him back. While downstairs, Elena, now fully dressed, puts on her coat, and Damon looks up from reading Jonathan Gilbert's journal. "Good morning, Damon." He looks at her with a smile, but he frowns, noticing something strange about her, rushing toward her, pushing against the far wall.
"What are you doing here? I told you to leave," Damon sneers, getting in her face.
"What is your problem?" Elena asks him.
"You're wearing her clothes? Like that's going to work," He snaps at her, seeing through her disguise.
"You think I'm Katherine? Why would you think that? Katherine's in the tomb! Isn't she?" She asks him, playing the victim, and he lets go of her a little, buying into her lies when Stefan comes downstairs, having heard the noise, and sees Damon with Elena.
"What the hell's going on here?" Stefan demands.
"I don't know, you tell me. Is Katherine in the tomb or not?" The doppelganger asks, and Stefan rushes upstairs; Elena walks out, finishing getting ready, when Stefan runs in, pushing her against the wall. "What are you doing?!"
"How could you do this?!" He sneers, getting in her face.
"Stefan, you're hurting me!" Elena exclaims in pain as he squeezes her neck.
"Stop it, Katherine!" The younger Salvatore snaps at her.
"Stop what?" Katherine asks; the couple looks at her as she leans against the doorway. "It's getting really easy being you." Damon walks up, joining the others in Stefan's bedroom.
"What is she doing here?" Elena demands, looking at her Vampire doppelganger.
"When we killed Elijah, it broke the compulsion and freed the bitch from the tomb," Damon explains, giving Katherine evil eyes.
"How's that possible?" Stefan asks him.
"He's an Original. They have all sorts of special skills," Katherine shrugs her shoulders, playing dumb.
"I don't want you here. Get her out of here," Elena demands.
"You need me, Elena. You all do," She retorts.
"Like hell," Stefan snaps.
"We all want the same thing… Klaus dead. Yet here you all are, running around like chickens with their heads cut off," Katherine replies sarcastically.
"I don't need your help and I don't want it," Elena snaps at her.
"And that's incredibly stupid of you. You know where Klaus is? When he's coming, what he looks like?" The Vampire double questions.
"If you know something, say it or get out," Damon spits at her.
"Fine. Then I'll just go to the Grill and have some lunch… Maybe aunt Jenna's free for a bite," Katherine threatens them.
When Caroline walks up to him, Matt walks around the school hallways, putting up ads for the Grill, trying to get more business. "Hey, Matt," She smiles, trying to talk to him again.
"Hey," He says back.
"Live band?" Caroline asks him, looking at the poster.
"Yeah, business has been a little slow. The Grill's trying to stay afloat," Matt explains, walking down the hallway.
"Aren't we all?" The blond Vampire jokes, following after him.
"Have you heard from Tyler?" The blond quarterback asks her.
"Not a peep. You?" She asks him back.
"No, not since he stopped by the Grill to talk, and I've left messages on his cell phone," Matt tells her, worried about his best friend.
"He stopped by to see you? What did he say?" Caroline asks him.
"Not much, really. I mean… I think to say goodbye without really saying goodbye. I just didn't know," The blond human explains.
"And that's all he said?" She asks him again.
"Yeah. Yeah, that's all he said, Caroline. Why?" The blond human questions, looking at her as he stops. "I mean, is there something you want to tell me?"
"Yeah! I… I mean, no, I… It's just not that easy," The blond Vampire stutters.
"I don't get it! Since when have I been the one that can express himself and you're one with a loss for words?" Matt snaps, growing frustrated.
"No, you're right, and I'm sorry," Caroline replies, hating having to lie to him.
"You know how I feel. So it's your move. Just make a decision or leave me alone," Donavan gives her the final ultimatum and walks away, leaving the blond Vampire alone.
Stefan parks his car in the school parking lot, letting themselves out of the vehicle. "Why is she still here? She was free," Elena asks her boyfriend.
"She wants what we want… Klaus' death. Maybe she sees us as her only chance," Stefan defends the Vampire doppelganger.
"Or maybe she's trying to lure you and Damon back into her web. I want her gone," She argues back.
"So do I. But you're right, she's staying. Shouldn't we at least try to figure out why?" He questions.
"How? All she does is lie," The doppelganger snaps.
"Look, I hate it as much as you do, but she does make a point. We don't know anything about Klaus. She does," The young Vampire reminds his girlfriend.
"Right, but that doesn't mean I want her shacking up with you," Elena grumbles, and he pulls her into a hug, trying to comfort her.
"Maybe we should stay at your place tonight," Stefan suggests.
"Hmm. I can't. I told Bonnie and Caroline that they could come over. Bonnie's freaked because she lost her powers, and Caroline's having Matt drama again. It's kind of a girls' night. Maybe Katherine can join us," Elena jokes, and he kisses her on the forehead and walks into the school together.
"Did you hear that brother?" Alexis McKnight asks her twin, who stands next to her as they watch the couple walk into the school building.
"I do believe I did, sister," Edward McKnight replies, and they walk into the school.
Damon walks into the basement, seeing Elijah's dead body and a tied-up Lorilei. "Hey, can I have some breakfast? I like a healthy smoothie. Strawberries and bananas are my favourites. You did snack on my neck last night," Lorilei reminds him.
"Yeah, I don't think so," Damon retorts, getting out the flame thrower.
"Oh, I don't think so. That won't work. And if you kill me. The spell on little Bennett is forever. No turn backsies," She informs him with a sinister smirk.
"I'm sorry what?" He questions.
"The spell that Jonas did. Is one of mine. See, we had a deal. You went against that deal. And well. I don't take to deal-breakers. Also I don't like Bennett Witches," The McKnight Witch informs him.
"Hmm. Well, I need that dagger back," The older Salvatore replies and turns on the flamethrower, trying to burn Elijah's body, barely missing Lorilei. Still, it doesn't work, and Katherine comes down, having heard everything.
"Mmm, burning flesh. If you're trying to get the dagger back, you're wasting your time. He's indestructible," Katherine tells him as he stops, looking at the smouldering suit.
"No kidding. How do you know so much about Original Vampires?" Damon asks the older Vampire.
"Spend 500 years running from one," She replies.
"Live with one long enough," Lorilei adds.
"So when I told you my plan to kill Elijah, why didn't you warn me that I'd die if I used a dagger on him?" He asks, looking at the Vampire doppelganger.
"Oh, there's so many rules. It's all very confusing," Katherine teases him.
"Did you know I would die?" Damon asks her.
"Did Elijah tell you his plan? Did he have a dagger to kill Klaus with?" She asks back.
"Why are you still here?" He asks her.
"Because you haven't forcibly removed me," The Vampire doppelganger retorts with a smirk, and the older Salvatore moves the flamethrower nozzle towards Katherine, threatening to burn her. "You wouldn't."
"Oh, I would," Damon tells her.
"So would I," Lorilei nods in agreement.
"Damon, be smart. I want Klaus dead just as much as you do. More. If I wasn't being honest about helping, I'd be long gone by now, okay? You can hate me. But we want the same thing. And you know… I always get what I want," Katherine claims, she walks over to Damon as he lowers the nozzle and pats his chest, and she steps away. "I wanted out of the tomb. Didn't matter who paid the price. Of course, I knew that you'd die." She walks away, leaving him to his thoughts.
"Ouch." Lorilei mutters. "That's got to hurt. And I thought she couldn't be any more of a bitch. She's reached mega bitch status."
"Tell me about it," Damon agrees, looks at her and walks away.
"Bye! I still want my breakfast!" She calls after him. "God, I hate it here. This is all your fault. You fell for the doppelganger. Classic Elijah."
Stefan walks to Bonnie and Jeremy at the Bennett Witch's locker, explaining what happened with Katherine that morning. "She's out of the tomb?" Bonnie asks her.
"Yeah. We're dealing with it, all right? Just be extra careful. She's getting a little too good at impersonating Elena," Stefan warns them.
"With Katherine still around, we gotta find a way to get your powers back," Jeremy tells his somewhat girlfriend.
"Listen, I want to get the Martins on our side. I want to figure out a way for us all to work together now that Elijah and Lorilei are out of the picture," The young Vampire tells them.
"It's impossible. They hate us," Bonnie reminds him.
"It's either win them over or somebody's going to end up dead. You think you can at least convince them to have a civil conversation?" Stefan asks the Witch.
"I'll try," She assures him, though she doesn't yet know how connected the Martins and Lorilei are.
"Thanks. Keep me posted," The young Vampire tells them and walks away, leaving the almost couple.
"Okay. I gotta get to class," Bonnie tells the younger Gilbert.
"All right, I'll see ya," Jeremy says, trying to kiss her goodbye, but she dodges, laughing. "Come on. Elena's nowhere in sight." She smiles, kissing him back.
"I'll tell her soon. I promise," The Bennett Witch convinces him.
"Alright," He nods.
Elena sits in Alaric's classroom at his desk as he explains his problems about John whispering in Jenna's ear and about his dead not-dead wife. "It was bad. You know, John planted all these seeds about Isobel, and now Jenna knows I'm lying about something," Alaric explains, hating to have to tell his girlfriend's teen niece about his troubles.
"John's going to end up dead on the kitchen floor if he's not careful," Elena counters.
"Yeah, well, easier said than done. I gave him back his ring so…" He announces and shows her his empty hand. "Look, Jenna keeps asking about Isobel. You know, was she murdered? Why haven't they found the body? I mean, how much longer can she stay in the dark?"
"You think we should tell her the truth?" She queries, unsure what could happen if she told her aunt.
"I'm saying I can't be with her and not tell her. It's not fair to her, and it's not the kind of relationship I want. Not to mention it's becoming more dangerous for her not to know," The history teacher reasons, not liking lying to his girlfriend.
"I just thought that we'd at least hold off until after we've dealt with Klaus. You know and even then, how do we tell someone what we know? How does someone hear that?" Elena questions, hating all the lying too.
"Look, I'm sorry to put this on you. But I feel it's your decision to make. And whatever you decide to do, I'll respect it. I want to be honest with her. But until then, Jenna and I are done," Alaric informs her.
Jonas and Luka walk into the Mystic Grill, spotting Stefan and Bonnie at a table. "Thank you for coming," Stefan greets them, getting up from his seat.
"I didn't want to but my son made a case to hear you out," Jonas argues.
"Bonnie said that you have information about Elijah and Lorilei," Luka says, making Stefan look at the Bennett Witch as they all sit down.
"Elijah's dead. I'm sorry," Stefan informs them, leaving Lorilei out of it.
"What about Lorilei?" He asks, looking between them.
"She left town," The Vampire lies; the Martins look at Bonnie and Dr Jonas gets up from his seat; Stefan catches his shoulder, stopping him. "Hear me out. We can help you."
"We know that Klaus has your daughter. I'm sorry about the way I had to get that information, but it's good that we know. We can all work together to get her back," Bonnie reasons with him.
"How?" Luka asks her.
"I suspect that you, Lorilei and Elijah had a plan to kill Klaus. Let us help you carry it out. You can trust us. I give you my word. We all do," Stefan tells them, and they look between each other, but the Martins decline their offer, walking away.
Katherine walks into the living room with Damon looking through Jonathan Gilbert's journals. "What you up to?" Katherine asks him.
"None of your business," Damon tells her.
"We're pouting now? Are those the Gilbert journals?" She questions, but he doesn't answer. "How am I supposed to help you if you won't tell me what you're up to?"
"Can you tell me where a bunch of Witches were massacred in this town a couple centuries ago?" He asks her.
"No," The Vampire doppelganger answers.
"Then you can't help," Damon retorts, and she tries looking at one of the journals, but he slaps her hand away; she hits his arm in retaliation, and he rushes over, pushing her onto a chair, hovering above her.
"If it's any consolation, I'm glad that you're not dead," Katherine replies, getting up after he lets go of her. "Emily Bennett told me about the massacre. It was a big deal in Witch folklore. When a Witch dies violently, they release a mystical energy marking the place of their death with power."
"Elijah wanted to know the site of the massacre," He reveals.
"What was he going to do when he found it?" She asks.
"I don't know. What did papa Witch and baby Witch have to say?" Damon asks his little brother as he walks into the living room.
"Wasn't she gone or dead yet?" Stefan asks, looking at Katherine as he leans against the doorframe.
"For the last time, I'm here to help. Can we skip the secrets, hmm?" Katherine asks the brothers.
"Elijah had no weapon to kill Klaus but he believed that if a Witch could channel enough power… They wouldn't need one," He informs them, walking into the living room.
"Like the power you get from a spot marked with a hundred dead Witches?" Damon questions.
"We just need to find it," The younger Salvatore tells his brother. "What about Lorilei? Do you think she'd know?"
"But what if they can find the burial ground?" Luka asks his father as they walk into their apartment in Lorilei's building.
"They won't. We tried, Luka, for weeks," Jonas snaps, growing frustrated.
"We don't have a back-up plan, though, dad, and we need to be doing everything we can to save Greta," He reasons.
"We will save her but Elijah and Lorilei are the answer, not Stefan and his brother. Those people, they're our enemies. They need to be dealt with," The father informs his son.
"You're going to kill them?" Luka asks.
"No. I'm going to let Elijah do it," Jonas informs him. "And we're going to get Lorilei back."
Damon and Stefan walk back into the basement to talk to Lorilei; seeing her still tied to her chair, seeming to be sleeping, Damon holds a tray of food for their hostage. "Hey, wakey wakey!" Damon yells, startling Lorilei awake.
"That is not cool!" Lorilei snaps as she looks at the Salvatore brothers. "Is that for me?"
"Yes, you'll get it if you tell us why Elijah wanted to find the Witch massacre site?" Stefan asks her, and she looks at them.
"Sure. I'll tell you, if you give me the food," McKnight bargains with them.
"Tell us then we'll give you the food," Damon replies.
"No thanks. I'm hungry. You don't feed me. I don't tell you. Simple," The McKnight Witch tells them, and she tries getting comfortable in her chair. "If you don't mind, I'm going to get some sleep."
"Fine," Stefan sighs, taking the tray of food, laying it on her lap, and giving her some of it. "Now, will you tell us what he wanted?"
"This needs more salt. And no, I won't tell you." Lorilei smirks, and the brothers look at her, growing annoyed and walk away with the food tray. "Next time! I wouldn't mind having something a little nicer!"
Elena walks into the kitchen with Bonnie and Caroline as they have their girls' night. "Chinese food or pizza?" Caroline asks them.
"Like you have to ask," Elena replies.
"I will get it," She agrees, taking out her iPad and seeing a picture of her with Matt at the Founders Day Parade.
"I'll do it," Bonnie offers, taking the device out of her and seeing the blond falter.
"Do you believe that Jonas is being sincere?" Elena asks the Witch.
"I don't know what to believe. I think he's at a loss. He's not sure who to trust," The ex-Witch tells the doppelganger.
"Join the club," The doppelganger sighs.
"Well, what are we going to do about this movie situation? What about "The Notebook"?" Caroline suggests, feeling sappy.
"Caroline, how many times have you seen that movie?" Elena questions.
"That is so not the point," The blond replies.
"Well, yeah, I mean…." She says, and Jenna enters the kitchen. "Hey."
"What's going on?" Jenna asks the three girls.
"Girls' night," The doppelganger answers.
"Oh," She replies.
"How are you doing?" Elena asks her aunt.
"You heard about my fight with Ric," The strawberry blond sighs.
"He feels terrible," She tells her.
"Is this some kind of disguised attempt to cheer me up?" Jenna asks them, and Elena looks at her friends.
"No. No, this is about us girls hanging out, and you know, we'll be here if you happen to want to talk, or…." Elena explains.
"Because I am a winner when it comes to successful relationships," Caroline remarks sarcastically.
"You, too?" Jenna asks.
"You have no idea," She replies.
"Okay, then," The strawberry blond says and walks to the fridge. "It's this whole Isobel thing. He's hiding something from me."
"To play devi;'s advocate, maybe there is a great reason why he's not telling you. Maybe he is just trying to protect you," Caroline suggests.
"Well, that's not his call to make," Jenna argues. "I mean, I deserve the truth. Everybody does."
"Sometimes it's harder than that," She argues back, being in a similar situation.
"Not if it's somebody you care about, it isn't," The strawberry blond tells her.
"You know what we need? Dancing. There is a band at the Grill," Caroline suggests.
"I'm in," Bonnie agrees.
"In," Jenna agrees, too.
"In," Elena also agrees; Caroline can't help clapping her hands in excitement.
Jonas sets up candles around the apartment, borrowing them from Lorilei's Witch room, Luka sits at their dining table, and his father joins him. "Are you sure about this? I mean, I would go if I could," Jonas tells his son.
"No, I'm not strong enough to send you. I can do this," Luka assures him.
"I'll stay anchored. Use all my energy. If you feel weak…." He warns his son.
"Dad. I want this just as much as you," The younger Martin reminds him.
"Concentrate on Elijah. Picture him in your mind," The father instructs him, and Luka closes his eyes.
"I got it," Luka replies, closing his eyes as Jonas casts the spell.
Luka appears in Salvatore's house with Katherine and Damon reading in the living room, but they can't see him. "I'm in the Salvatore house. Elijah's body must be here," Luka announces, seeing Damon looking over his shoulder, not seeing anything and shrugging it off before going back to reading.
"What do you see?" Jonas asks his son.
"Elena and Damon. They're reading," He informs him and walks away to find the Original and possibly Lorilei. Katherine leans over the couch arm, getting closer to Damon while he reads.
"Can I help you?" Damon asks her.
"I'm bored," Katherine sighs and looks at the journal. "Emily Bennett was taken by the Council today. They kidnapped her from her home and took her to the same location her ancestors were burned a hundred years ago." She reads the passage. "So Emily died on the site of the massacre, too. Does it say where?" She tries taking the journal out of his hands, but he pulls it away from her grubby hands.
"Nope. You know this whole friendly, cooperative thing?" Damon questions, and she hums. "I don't buy it."
"I have no reason to lie to you, Damon," She tells him.
"Lie," He replies.
"I'm hungry," The Vampire doppelganger moans.
"You're the unwanted houseguest. Go feed yourself," Damon tells her, and she walks off, heading down into the basement, going to the fridge to get herself a blood bag, unaware that Luka is there too, though she feels something, looks around but doesn't see anything. Upstairs, Stefan comes home from his meeting with the Martins and walks into the living room, joining his brother.
"Well, nothing in any of those. Find anything?" Stefan asks his brother.
"Nope," He lies, nodding, pretending so Katherine can't hear them, but he shows the journal to his brother, pointing to the passage, and Stefan reads before going along with the lie.
"That's too bad," The younger brother lies.
"Yeah, bummer," Damon agrees, and downstairs Katherine continues to snoop around in the basement; then she walks to the cellar, looking at Elijah's desiccated and burned body. She goes to leave when she hears the dagger being pulled from his chest as Luka tries to remove it. Katherine doesn't see anyone but rushes to stop him, keeping the blade in the Original's heart.
"Elena's fighting me," Luka tells his father.
"What's wrong?" Jonas asks.
"She's stronger than me," He announces as he struggles with the Vampire doppelganger.
"Get out of here, Luka!" Lorilei shouts as she struggles to get out of her chains, trying to loosen the ropes around her wrists.
"That's because it's not Elena. It's Katherine Pierce. Luka…kill her," The Martin's father instructs him.
"What?" Luka asks, not sure if he can do it.
"She's a Vampire. Find a stake and drive it through her heart," Jonas instructs his son.
"What about Lorilei?" He questions, looking at the other Witch.
"Free her," His father tells him, glad to know she hasn't left town like Stefan had told him, and Luka releases the dagger; Katherine looks around, releasing it too. The young Martin begins untying Lorilei from the chair; once free, she gets up, stretching her sore limbs.
"Oh, I'm gonna love this," Lorilei grins, fishing in her leather pant pockets for her lighter, getting out the zippo lighter that her old ex-boyfriend got her years ago. "Say goodbye," She lights it, waving her hand, sending the flames towards the Vampire, who screams in pain as she walks out of the room. "Luka, tell your dad we're going to free Elijah another time. I'll see you in a second." She turns, facing him, sensing the young Martin Warlock, who nods before disappearing and relaying the information to his father. The Salvatore brothers run down to the basement to see Lorilei standing before them and a burning Katherine behind her. "Hey, boys. I'd love to stay another night. But hotel Salvatore sucked. See ya," She disappears into sand, flying past the brothers and out the front door; the fire dies down on Katherine as the front door slams shut.
"I hate her," Katherine groans as she heals herself, her healing going slowly, which she hates, knowing it's Lorilei's fault.
Lorilei appears in the Martin's apartment, seeing them removing the candles from around the room, having finished the spell. "You almost got your son killed," The first words out of her mouth are to Jonas.
"It's good to see you too, Lorilei. But we need Elijah," Jonas argues, and she walks out of the apartment.
"Follow me. I have a very good plan," Lorilei tells them and walks out of their apartment, then goes into her apartment, which happens to be next door.
"And what is your plan?" He asks her, and she takes off her shirt, making the two men look away.
"One of my best. We scare the crap out of them. Then, we make them scared enough to wake Elijah up on their own," She explains, walking into her bedroom to shower and get out of her blood-soaked clothes. Lorilei stands under the hot water, enjoying the feeling as she rids herself of the past few days and looks at the plug hole as the blood washes down, remembering all too well the numerous times she's had to cover up her past.
A young Lorilei stood at her sink in the basement of her family home, looking at herself in the mirror with a black eye and busted lip. She cringed as she tried to press a cold, wet tissue to her bleeding lip; her father had beaten her again for accidentally touching Edward, stealing some of his magic again. Her two younger siblings don't fully understand, being so much younger than her, and her parents want more children after they learnt what she is. Her siblings copied her parents; once Alexis tripped her in the hallway, she almost dislocated her jaw. Another time Edward called her harsh names, her parents were happy about the twins' actions towards Lorilei, wanting them to hate her. "I need to get out of here," Lorilei muttered as she tried to dap her lip again.
At the Mystic Grill, the girls walk in to see the live band playing; the girls wander into the crowd, enjoying the live music; when Alric walks into the bar, Jenna spots her boyfriend. "I need a drink," Jenna sighs, walking over to the bar, leaving the teens, and Mat walks past them.
"Hey, Matt," Caroline greets him, but he doesn't answer.
"Let me get that for you," Matt tells his customers with a smile and walks away.
"Things just got real awkward," Bonnie mutters, and Alaric walks to Jenna at the bar.
"Jenna," Alaric says after a long sigh.
"Not tonight, Ric. Tonight I have traded you for senor tequila," Jenna tells him, not wanting to talk.
"Yeah. Ha. Well, senor tequila's not going to be treating you very well," The history teacher warns her lightly, trying to lighten the mood.
"Well, the two of you have a lot in common," She retorts.
"Look, Jenna. I hate that you're this upset with me," Alaric tells her.
"Yeah, well, it's your fault. Because whatever it is you're keeping from me. Whatever you think I can't handle… You're wrong. 'Cause last year I was a grad student who smoked a lot of pot and couldn't keep a goldfish alive and now I'm a parent, so I think I can handle anything, Ric." Jenna explains to him.
"Jenna…" He tries to talk to her, but she walks away. Elena, Caroline and Bonnie listen to the live band in the crowd.
"He said the ball's in your court," Bonnie reminds the blond Vampire.
"Yeah, but I can't do anything about it," Caroline tells her.
"Why not? All you do is talk about how much you care about him," She reasons.
"Yeah, but I am still keeping so many secrets," The blond Vampire points out.
"Alaric's in the same boat with Jenna, and maybe that's our mistake. We're trying to protect the people that we love by keeping them out of it, but in the end, we're hurting them anyway." Elena tells them, and Caroline comes to a decision, taking off her jacket and leaving for the stage as the crowd cheers. "What are you doing? Where are you going? Where is she going?" She watches her blond friend walk onto the blond, taking the microphone. "Hey, everyone. Let's hear it for the band! Weren't they awesome?" She claps, and the crowd agree, cheering again for the band even louder.
"This isn't gonna end well," Jenna mutters, taking a shot.
"So there's this guy. And, uh, he told me to tell him how I feel about him. Like it's so easy. Um, you know, just 'cause I talk a lot doesn't mean I always know what I'm actually talking about. Ah, like now, I'm feeling loopy, and I don't really know how to express myself. I can sing. Yeah! Yeah. You know what, I'm going to sing," The blond Vampire announces, flustered, and the singer tries to stop her.
"Come on, off the stage," The singer tells her, and she turns to him.
"You are going to let me live out my rock star fantasies, and you are going to be my back-up," Caroline compels him and whispers in his ear the name of the song, and the band begins playing 'Eternal Flame', and she begins singing.
"She's good," Jenna comments, looking at her niece.
"Yeah," Elena agrees, smiling, and the song continues; Matt looks at his ex-girlfriend, who smiles at him, and he signs, thinking what to do next, and plucks up the courage, jumping on the stage, pulling Caroline into a kiss, making the crowd cheer for the happy couple.
Jonas takes a picture of Elena's and the hairbrush that he stole, casting a spell to find her, while Lorilei, now dressed in something clean, casts an illusion spell, making Luka appear dead on the floor and walks out of the Martin's apartment, heading back into hers. "Don't forget, angry and dead," She points at Jonas and then Luka. As she closes the door to her apartment, Stefan comes to the apartment building, sees the closed bookshop/cafe and tries to enter, but is stopped by a force that keeps him from entering. Suddenly, it disappears, and he doesn't think much of it, and he walks inside, finds the Martin's apartment, and breaks off a pipe, breaking the door in, spotting Jonas finishing the spell and the supposed dead body of Luka lying on the floor.
"You got him killed," Jonas sneers, storming towards the Vampire, casting a pain-inflicting spell, sending the younger Salvatore to the floor, clutching his head in pain. "He's dead, and I have no one. And now you're about to find out exactly what that feels like." He walks past Stefan as he lies on the floor, screaming in pain, and the spell dissipates; the Vampire sees his girlfriend Elena's picture on the floor, knowing the distraught Warlock's next move and jumps to his feet, running away to save his girl.
"He is so whipped," Lorilei comments as she walks out of her apartment and stands in the doorframe. "You can get up now, Luka."
"What do we do now?" Luka asks the McKnight Witch, getting up, the spell disappearing as she releases it and looks at the broken door.
"I'm gonna make him pay for that. I'll send him a bill later," She smiles as she looks at the broken door and pipe he used to break the door.
Damon walks over to Katherine, who lies on the couch in the living room, still healing from Lorilei's fiery attack and gives her a blood bag before driving a stake through her stomach, making her cry. "What the hell?!" Katherine cries out, clutching at her stomach.
"That's for not telling me the dagger would kill me. Next time… It goes in your heart," Damon threatens her.
"Is that how you treat someone who…" She replies, taking out the stake with a painful grunt. "... Is trying to help you?"
"You wanna help? Start talking," He demands as she gets up, putting the stake on the coffee table.
"I'd love to, but you're not going to like it," The Vampire doppelganger warns him.
"Try me," The older Salvatore replies.
"Fine. John Gilbert and Isobel want you and Stefan out of Elena's life," Katherine tells him.
"That's old news," Damon retorts.
"Not the part where he offered me a deal. He knew that killing Elijah would get me out of the tomb, so he gave me a choice. Either I stay and help with Klaus, or he kills Stefan," She informs him.
"But he still tried to have me killed," He replies.
"Right. That was part of the deal. I could only save one of you," Katherine informs him.
"So you chose Stefan. Of course you did," Damon mutters.
"You wanted the truth, Damon. Would you rather I lie?" She asks, loving the hurt look on his face.
Elena goes to the bathroom in the bar but sees Caroline and Matt kissing each other. "Ahh! " Oh, sorry," Elena gasps and slammed the door, embarrassed.
"You know, I really have to get back to work," Matt tells the blond Vampire, trying to pull away from the kissing, needing to get back to work.
"Definitely," Caroline smiles. While outside, Bonnie tries entering the ladies, but Elena stops her, not wanting to deal with what is happening inside.
"I… I wouldn't. Caroline and Matt are," Elena warns her.
"In the bathroom?!" Bonnie gasps in surprise.
"If they're happy, I'm happy," She replies.
"Um, hey, speaking of happy, would it freak you out if I started dating your brother?" The Bennett Witch drops a bomb on the human doppelganger.
"You're into my brother?" Elena asks her.
"I know it's weird, um, but he's been so good and strong. It makes me happy and I really can't tell what you're thinking… Right now," Bonnie tells her, feeling strange.
"I'm thinking that… My brother has had more pain in his life than a hundred people's worth of pain, and… He deserves to be with someone as amazing as you," She replies.
"Really?" The Witch asks her, making sure.
"Really," Elena smiles, and Bonnie pulls her into a hug; when Elena's phone rings, she gets it out of her back pocket, sees that it's Stefan and answers it. "Hey, Stefan, I'm at the Grill. I can't hear you. Hold… Yeah." As it's too noisy, she walks away; Bonnie sees Jonas entering the bar.
"Where are you going?" Katherine asks Damon, seeing him getting ready to leave.
"Luka Martin's dead. His father's going after Elena," Damon answers.
"I'm coming with you," She tells him.
"No, you're not," He argues.
"Wait," Katherine snaps.
"I don't need your help. I don't want it," Damon sneers at the Pierce woman, still feeling hurt from what she said before.
"I know what we can do, Damon. You have to let me do it," She announces, sharing a look with the older Salvatore.
Bonnie walks over to Jonas, seeing him angry, not understanding what is at play. "Dr Martin. You okay?" She asks him.
"Where is she?" Jonas demands.
"I don't understand?" Bonnie questions.
"My son is dead," He informs her, seeing the look of dread on her face.
"Whatever it is you think you need to do, there's a better way," She warns him.
"They killed Elijah and they killed Luka and my only shot at getting my daughter back is if I have Elena," The Martin Warlock replies.
"No. No, Dr Martin," The Bennett Witch argues, trying to stop him, but he doesn't listen as he breaks the bar lights using his magic.
"Where is she?" Jonas demands.
"I don't know. I haven't seen her," Bonnie lies, and he breaks the rest of the lights, warning her about lying again. Caroline and Matt kiss inside the bathroom, oblivious to what is happening outside, and the lights go off.
"What the hell?" Matt gapes in shock, looking up at the ceiling lights.
"Mmm!" Caroline gasps, and he opens the door to see if the power is out in the rest of the Grill.
"The power's out," He announces, looking over at his girlfriend.
"Even better," She smiles.
"I wish, but I should probably…." Matt tells her, and she pulls him into another kiss before letting him leave; she smiles happily and walks to the bathroom mirror, looking at herself when Elena and Stefan burst inside.
"Hey…" Caroline greets them in surprise.
"We have a problem," Elena announces.
"What's going on?" She asks her best friend.
"Jonas is here and he's after Elena," Stefan informs her.
"Oh, my God!" The blond Vampire gasps.
"We have a plan, but I need to get Elena out of here," He tells her.
"Well, what can I do?" Caroline asks, while outside Alaric leads Jenna to the bar's exit with everyone else.
"It's time to get out of here," Alaric tells his girlfriend, seeing trouble about to start.
"I have to find Elena," Jenna replies, trying to fight out of his hold.
"She's with Stefan, she's okay," He assures her, passing Bonnie, who is talking with Jonas.
"No one's getting out of here until I have her," Jonas warns the ex-Witch.
"Don't do this. Please don't do this," Bonnie pleads to him, and he breaks the bottles on the side with his magic and sets fire to the bar. Bonnie tries to stop him, but he places his hand on her forehead, making her fall to the floor, unconscious. All the customers run away from the fire, heading for the door, as Matt grabs a jacket from one of the booths to try and stop the flames, but he sees Bonnie lying on the floor.
"Bonnie! Hey, Bonnie!" Matt shouts, rushing over to her side, and helps her to his feet. "Bonnie! Bonnie! Hey, Bonnie!" She wakes up, looking around at the destruction as Matt helps her. Elena and Stefan walk out of the bathroom with a plan and spot Jonas walking through the crowd towards him.
"Dr Martin! I'm so sorry about Luka," Elena calls out, gaining his attention. "I never wanted that to happen, but…at least let us help you get your daughter back."
"Only Elijah can do that," Jonas retorts.
"You don't need Elijah," She tells him, and he sets another fire in another part of the bar and turns to Stefan and Elena, but Caroline jumps on his back, letting the couple leave. Caroline tries biting him, but he gives her a headache with his magic, making her scream, letting him go; hearing it, Matt looks around, seeing her withering in pain on the floor.
"Caroline!" Matt shouts, running back into the burning Mystic Grill over to Jonas and pushing him against the wall in anger. "Get away from her!"
"Matt, no!" Caroline shouts, trying to get him to leave, but Jonas grabs a bottle, smashing it against the side, breaking the bottle, stabbing it into Matt's neck and walking away. Matt falls onto the floor in pain and bleeding; Caroline cries, rushing over to her boyfriend. "Matt! Matt! Oh! Oh, my God!" She tries to calm herself. "Just breath, Caroline…just breath." Her face vamps out, her fangs descending, and she bites her wrists, putting the bleeding wrist to Matt's mouth, though he struggles away. "You have to drink. Please, please." She makes him drink her blood, helping to heal him.
Bonnie sits with Jeremy at his kitchen table. "Luka… I can't believe he's dead. After what we did to him," Bonnie sighs, racked with guilt.
"No, after what he did to you. Look, I'm sorry, I know you feel bad about all of this but I don't," Jeremy argues.
"I couldn't do anything to help. I was useless. I hated it," The ex-Witch replies when Stefan and Elena walk into the house. "Thank God," She sighs in relief, both of them getting up and walking over to greet them.
"It's not over yet," Elena warns them.
"What's going on?" Jeremy asks them.
"He'll explain," She replies and walks upstairs.
"When did you guys get home?" Stefan asks them.
"A few minutes ago," Bonnie answers.
"Did you check the house?" He asks them.
"And why would we check the house?" Jeremy asks him as Elena upstairs goes to the bathroom; she looks at herself in the mirror and turns on the tap, running her hands under the water, when Jonas appears behind her, catching her off guard as he grabs her. Still, her face changes, revealing it's Katherine, who rushes at him, jumping to bite into his neck. Stefan hears the noise from upstairs and runs up with Bonnie to see a dead Jonas lying on the bathroom floor with Katherine standing over him, licking the blood from her lips.
"You're welcome," Katherine tells them, and Bonnie walks toward Jonas' dead body, kneeling next to him.
"You didn't have to kill him!" Bonnie snaps at her.
"Yes, we did," She argues, and the ex-Witch gets closer to him and goes to close his eyes when he sits up, grabbing her face, scaring her as Bonnie screams, and Stefan grabs him and snaps his neck, officially killing him.
"Crap!" Lorilei snaps as she stands from her couch, startling Luka, who watches as she walks to the large bookcase in her secret Witch room that connects to the living room.
"What happened?" Luka asks her, seeing her anger.
"He's dead and he gave that little Bennet her magic back!" She yells, and he looks at her, his chest tightening up.
"Wait? My dad's dead?" He asks her, walking into the room and joining her.
"Yes! I told him to be careful!" The McKnight Witch snaps and looks at the teen. "I'm sorry Luka. I didn't mean for; Is to happen."
"I know, I just don't understand why he would give Bonnie her magic back?" Luka replies, and she looks at her grimoires.
"Because he doesn't trust me to get Elijah back," Lorilei says, grabbing a black leather-bound book with silver metal on the spine and cover. "But I've got an idea that will help in our favour."
"How did you guys convince her to do this?" Elena asks Damon as they stand in her living room, having arrived a little while ago.
"We didn't. It was actually her idea," Damon informs her.
"Wow. That's… Not good," The human doppelganger retorts.
"No. No, that's not good at all," The older Salvatore agrees when Stefan and Katherine come downstairs.
"Everything's taken care of," Stefan announces, and Katherine takes off Elena's necklace, holding it out to her double.
"I'm guessing you're going to want this back. But your pretty little outfit is going to need a good dry cleaning," Katherine tells her, handing over the necklace, and Elena snatches it out of her hand.
"You're going to have to get her out of here before Jenna gets home," Elena warns the brothers, ignoring Katherine.
"Is that all you have to say to me?" She questions, hating the human doppelganger even more.
"This doesn't change the way I feel about you," Elena replies.
"I don't much like you, either, if we're going to be open and frankly, I'd be happy to see you dead but if we're going to try to take on Klaus, we kinda need you to be alive. So I'm not a threat to you, Elena. If any of you are going to believe anything, believe that," Katherine tells her, growing fed up with her snotty attitude. Outside on the porch, Alaric walks Jenna to the door, trying to buy time for whatever is going on inside.
"Thanks for getting me home. That was kind of crazy," Jenna comments about what happened at the Grill.
"Jenna, are you going to be okay? Look, Isobel is dead and there are things about her death that I can't tell you. That aren't for me to tell. You can be upset and hate me. I get it but just know that I love you. At least I can tell you that much," Alaric confesses.
"Good night, Ric," She says, unsure what else to say anymore.
"Good night," He replies, and she opens the door, entering the house to see Elena alone in the hallway.
"Hey. You made it home," Elena says.
"Tonight was very weird," Jenna replies.
"Tell me about it," She replies while her younger brother and best friend are upstairs in Jeremy's bedroom.
"I'm worried about you," Jeremy tells her.
"Don't be," Bonnie assures him.
"No, I'm serious Bonnie. The only Witch that could have given you your powers back willingly or what is now dead, and… I think you have a serious case of denial going, and I want you to know that I'm here for you no matter what, and…." She stops his rant, kissing him on the lips. "Not that denial's the worst thing," She puts her hand on his chest, shutting him up as she places her other hand on top and the lights in his room flicker. "Did you…"
"When he grabbed me… He gave me my powers back and something else. Jonas wants me to kill Klaus," Bonnie confesses.
"And did he include a how?" He asks her.
"Yeah. He did," The Bennett Witch smiles.
Damon sits on his bed, reading one of Jonathan Gilbert's journals, when Katherine jumps onto his bed, joining him in her lingerie, trying to seduce him, now back to her Katherine glory, curly hair and all. "You know what I can't figure out?" Damon questions, looking up at her.
"What's that?" Katherine asks him.
"How the town knew Emily Bennett was a Witch. I mean, because according to Jonathan Gilbert, he was the only one who knew. I know he didn't turn her in," He retorts, looking at her, judging her as she doesn't answer. "Mmm, I should have figured as much."
"Oh, she was a loose end. I like mine tied up. You know what I can't figure out?" She asks.
"Do I care?" The older Salvatore challenges.
"Why you won't tell me where to find the site of the Witch massacre," Katherine questions.
"Because I have no clue," He lies.
"You knew that Emily Bennett was the key to getting me out of that tomb and something tells me that you did everything in your power to make sure that she was safe, yet you have no idea where she was killed. Who's the liar now?" She replies and sits up. "You hurt me today."
"Tit for tat," The sassy Salvatore retorts.
"You were mean and very rough and monstrous," The Vampire doppelganger swoons, crawling towards him, trying to seduce him.
"You deserved it," Damon replies as she gets closer.
"I like this, Damon," Katherine tells him.
"Katherine. Katherine, there are six other bedrooms in this house," He breathes out as if they're about to kiss. "Go find one," He pushes her away, making her upset as she looks at him and walks out of the room.
Matt wakes up in Caroline's bed, having fallen unconscious, and Caroline, now changed, stands watching him. "Hi," She greets him, and he looks at his top, sees the blood and touches his healed neck.
"What the hell? I had your face… And all the blood. I… I drank your blood," Matt stutters as he looks around, confused.
"You were dying. My blood healed you," Caroline explains.
"What do you mean, it healed me? How can your blood heal me?" He asks her.
"Because that's what Vampire blood does for humans, and that's what I am. I'm a Vampire, Matt," She confesses.
"No," The blond human mutters, panicking.
"But it's all going to be okay, because I am going to tell you everything, and you're going to understand why I had to keep it from you, and we're going to be fine," Caroline says as she watches him pace around her room.
"We'll be fine?!" Matt questions.
"Yes, because we're together and we love each other," She tells him.
"Vampires. Oh, my God. Vicki, oh, my God, at the hospital, I thought that she was tripping out," He murmurs, remembering his sister.
"What?" The blond Vampire asks him.
"Vicki, she knew about the Vampires, and I… What… What did you do?" Matt demands, grabbing her.
"Nothing. Nothing! Matt!" Caroline exclaims, pulling herself from his hold.
"I need to get out of here," He tells her and tries to leave out the front door, but she stops him.
"No, no, no! I can't let you leave. I cannot let you leave," She warns him, getting in his way as he cries, thinking of his dead sister.
"What did you do to my sister?" Matt demands.
"Nothing! Nothing! I swear, I swear, nothing, nothing!" Caroline assures him.
"What did you do?!" He shouts, grabbing her arms.
"Nothing, Matt! You have to calm down! Matt!" She tells him.
Jenna sits in the kitchen, eating ice cream, when Elena walks in, joining her at the kitchen island. "Are John and Jeremy asleep?" Jenna asks her niece.
"I think so," Elena answers, taking a spoon and joining in with feasting on the ice cream.
"If I go to bed right now, there's a chance I'll wake up hangover-free," She retorts when the doorbell rings. "Who's that?" She gets up and walks towards the front door; Elena joins her aunt, seeing it's her birth mother, Isobel.
"Hi. You must be Jenna," Isobel greets her when Elena walks out, surprised to see her. "I'm… Elena's mother." She sees Elena.
"Isobel," Elena blurts out in surprise, and Jenna looks between them in shock.
