The Last Day

Lorilei opens the door to her apartment with Elijah behind her. "There's someone here," Elijah announces, sensing a presence in the apartment.

"Oh, that'll be Luka," Lorilei answers, surprising the Original as she walks into the apartment with him following behind her, and she closes the door. "Yeah. We faked his death." She locks the front door and enters the kitchen, growing hungry after her long day.

"Hey, Lorilei, did you talk to the Salvatores?" Luka asks, walking into the kitchen, stopping when he sees the Noble Original standing in the room. "I'll take that as a yes."

"Yeah. And it was exhausting. Dumb and dumber thought they knew everything. Dumber even called me earlier to try and find Elena, who woke Elijah. Stupid baby Vampires," She complains as the brunette gets things out of the cupboards to make something to eat.

"You'll need to begin making the elixir I told Elena about," Elijah interrupts her rant, making her look at him unimpressed.

"Can I eat first?" The McKnight Witch asks him, growing frustrated. "Or is the doppelganger more important?"

"Lorlei don't start," He sighs and walks out into the living room, opening the hidden door of the Witch Room.

"Well, there's a reason I'm "starting". Elena Gilbert looks like Katerina. I thought you'd gotten over her years ago. Seeing as you've dated over the last few years that I've known you. Or was that a lie?" Lorilei questions, growing angry at him.

"I have. I assure you. But we need to stop Klaus," Elijah argues.

"I get that. But Elena doesn't have to live afterwards. She can stay dead after you kill your brother," She snaps, following and looking through her vast collection of Grimoires.

"I don't want to break up a family like ours was," The Noble Original tells her, and she looks at him, her eyes softening a little.

"Fine," The McKnight sighs, and she picks out a dark brown leather hardback book with golden Celtic etching on the cover off the shelf. "Luka, can you make me something to eat while I make the elixir?" She asks the young Warlock, who nods, goes back into the kitchen,

"Thank you. I promise. Once this is over, we'll leave this town and go back to New York." Elijah promises her, and she smiles, walking into her Witch Room and grabbing various ingredients and bottles.

Damon lies in bed the next day, contemplating getting up when he hears Elijah's conversation with Elena and Stefan downstairs in the living room, the Original having arrived a little while ago with Lorilei. "Tonight is the full moon. We should assume that Klaus is prepared to break the curse," Elijah informs the happy couple, and Damon gets out of bed.

"Elena said that the Sun and the Moon curse is fake? That it's actually just a curse placed on Klaus?" Stefan questions, still getting his head around it.

"Klaus is a Vampire born of a Werewolf bloodline. The curse has kept his Werewolf aspect from manifesting. But if he breaks it… He'll be a true Hybrid," He explains, and Damon walks into the room fully dressed.

"Then why are we letting him break the curse? We can kill him today. With Bonnie," Damon suggests, looking at the couple.

"Damon…" Stefan sighs, looking at his brother.

"No. Bonnie can't use that much power without dying," Elena reminds him, having enough of repeating herself.

"I'll write her a great eulogy," Damon replies, wanting to save the doppelganger.

"It's not an option, Damon," She snaps at him, having enough of his negative attitude.

"All right, how do we break this curse?" Stefan questions, trying to steer the conversation away.

"That's Lorilei's expertise," Elijah turns, looking at the McKnight Witch, who rolls her eyes as she gets up from her seat on the couch opposite the couple.

"Thanks. Well, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward. The ingredients, so to speak you probably already know," Lorilei explains, stepping towards the Noble Original.

"The Moonstone," Stefan cuts in, looking at the beautiful brunette as she stands in her red jacket.

"Don't interrupt. It's rude. A Witch. Powerful enough will channel the power of the full moon to release the spell that's bound within the stone. After that, Klausy, being both Werewolf and Vampire, will sacrifice one of each." She continues to explain.

"And where do I fit into it?" Elena asks, looking at her.

"The final part of the ritual," Elijah answers, earning a look from the Witch, who grabs the old wooden box from the shelf, holding the ancient elixir inside.

"Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelganger… To the point of your death. That's my favourite part," Lorilei smirks, seeing the downcast look Damon gives Elena, and Stefan grabs the doppelganger's hand, looking devastated at the choice of words. Elijah takes the box, giving the Witch a look she chooses to ignore as he opens the box, taking out a frosted glass bottle.

"And that's where you come in?" Elena inquires, looking at the Original.

"This is an elixir that I acquired some 500 years ago for Katerina. It possesses mystical properties of resuscitation," Elijah answers, looking at the bottle and thinking of the past.

"So I'll be dead?" She questions.

"And then you won't," Lorilei replies, taking the elixir.

"That's your plan? A magical Witch potion with no expiration date?" Damon challenges, and he looks at the doppelganger. "You want to come back to life, what about John's ring?"

"Those rings only work on humans. The doppelganger's a supernatural occurrence. Odds are, the ring won't work," Elijah interjects and looks at Lorilei, who agrees.

"I'll take those odds over your elixir. What if it doesn't work, Elena?" He asks her.

"Then I guess I'll just be dead," Elena answers, and the older Salvatore looks at his brother for help, but he shrugs, going along with his girlfriend's choice and finally looks at Elijah and Lorilei before leaving in anger.

"You can write her a good eulogy," Lorilei mutters, knowing Damon can hear her.

"Do we know if Klaus has everything he needs to do this? Does he have a Werewolf?" She asks, not having heard the Witch.

"Klaus has been waiting to break this curse for over a thousand years. If he doesn't already have a Werewolf, my guess is by tonight, he will." Elijah tells her, giving his ward a small look, but she ignores him again.

"Also. That's not the elixir you'll be drinking," The McKnight Witch jumps in, putting her Chanel bag on the table.

"What?" Stefan asks, looking at her, and she gets out a glowing glass bottle with a crystal as a stopper.

"I had Lorilei remake the elixir as she felt that like Damon said there isn't an expiration date." Elijah explains.

"I'll take your gratitude in cash or favours." She jokes lightly, though the Noble Original knows she means it.

Carol walks from her living room toward the stairs on the phone, leaving a voicemail for her son, Tyler. "Tyler, honey. It's your mother. I don't know where you are, but I need you. I've had an accident and I'm in the hospital." She walks to the top of the stairs where Maddox waits for her and looks at him in fear. "Please, Tyler, come home." She hangs up and looks at the Warlock as if he is using a spell to control the woman. "Why did I say that?"

"Because you had a terrible fall," Maddox replies, pushing her over the railing using his powers; she flies over, smacking into the bannister and hitting the floor. The Warlock looks at her, seeing the Mayor unconscious, glad it's over.

Damon stands outside, drinking a glass of scotch, when Stefan walks out, joining his older brother. "Breakfast of champions, huh?" Stefan jokes, trying to lighten the mood.

"I'm surrounded by idiots. I need all the help I can get," Damon grumbles, drinking the last of his scotch.

"You know, you're not helping," He warns him.

"Elijah is an Original Vampire, Stefan. One we tried to kill. You're going to believe this guy?" The older Salvatore questions. "And Lorilei? She's shady. She hates us even more, especially after holding her hostage and temporarily killing Elijah. We can't trust either of them."

"What do you want me to do, Damon? Elena made her decision. She's choosing to trust Elijah and Lorilei. I'm going to put my faith in her," Stefan replies, looking at him.

"Why? She's going to end up dead," Damon argues.

"Because she put her faith in me. She chose to trust me in spite of what I am. I'm going to bet on somebody's instincts, it's going to be hers," He confesses, bearing his soul to Damon, knowing it may not make much of a difference.

"Well, then, that makes you the biggest idiot of them all," The older brother snaps, looking at his brother.

"She chose to trust you, too," Stefan reminds him, seeing the glint in his brother's eyes.

"Then maybe you shouldn't be so sure about her instincts," Damon sneers, walking away, tossing the remaining liquid away.

Elena walks into the library with Elijah and Lorilei. "You'd think he'd understand why I'm willing to do this," Elena mutters, looking at the glowing elixir in awe, seeing how it changes colour in the sunlight.

"Why are you?" Elijah asks her, intrigued a little.

"I'm the key to breaking the curse. Klaus is here because of me. If I don't stop him, then he's going to hurt people. It's that simple," She replies.

"You know, there's a possibility this elixir won't work. I don't want to mislead you," Lorilei tells her; though she knows it will work, she's trying to scare the doppelganger a little.

"I know the chance I'm taking," Elena tells her, putting the bottle down when they hear Jenna shouting and Alaric yelling in the hallway. They walk out seeing Jenna holding a crossbow at the history teacher.

"Jenna, put the crossbow down, okay? It's me," Alaric assures her, holding his hands up, worried his girlfriend will shoot him.

"Stay away from me," Jenna snaps as the others rush to her rescue.

"What's going on?" Elena asks, looking at the scene.

"It's me, Elena, I swear, okay? He let me go. Klaus let me go," Alaric tells them.

"Prove it," Damon instructs his best friend, who looks at Jenna.

"Okay, uh, first night you and I spent together, Jeremy walked in right when I was about to…." Alaric says, but Jenna grows embarrassed, stopping him.

"It's him!" Jenna exclaims and puts down the crossbow.

"I really wanna know what the end of that was," Lorilei smirks, looking at Elijah, who shushes the woman.

"Why did he let you go?" Stefan asks the history teacher.

"He wanted me to deliver a message. The sacrifice happens tonight," Alaric announces, and the others look at each other.

Carol lies in a hospital bed, a little banged up from her encounter with Maddox, and regains consciousness, seeming a little groggy and sees her son standing at the window looking out. "Tyler?" Carol mumbles, gaining his attention.

"Mum," Tyler smiles, kissing her forehead.

"You're back," She smiles, glad to see him after his disappearance.

"I'm back," He confirms, needing to spend time with her.

Matt cleans up the table as he works, turning around with his grey tub, and Caroline is standing too close, spooking him. "Oh. Jeez!" Matt yelps, seeing his girlfriend.

"Sorry!" Caroline laughs. "I didn't mean to scare you."

"It's okay, I just, I didn't know you were here," He tells her.

"Yeah, I wanted to try and catch you on your break so we could hang out," She replies.

"I have lunch in an hour," The blond quarterback says.

"Perfect. I will go run some errands and I will be right back," The blond Vampire smiles, kissing him, and he kisses her back. "I'll see you in a bit."

"Okay," Matt replies, and she leaves; he watches her go and drops his tub on the table before rushing to join Sheriff Forbes at her table.

"Does she suspect anything?" Liz asks him.

"No, but… I can't do this anymore. I've been with her the past few days, and I'm putting on the best show of my life. But either she is too, or she's still the same Caroline." He argues, still seeing the perky blond human.

"She's not the same. She's a Vampire," She argues, though she still struggles with it herself.

"At this point, I don't even know what that means," Matt grumbles.

"Look, I know this is hard to understand, but my family, we were raised with this. They're monsters, Matt. They have no soul, no humanity." Sheriff Forbes reminds him.

"There's nothing about her that makes me believe that," He argues, still thinking of Caroline.

"It's an act. I believed Damon Salvatore was my closest ally in this town. Instead, he's a killer. They killed your sister. What other proof do you need?" She argues with him.

"I could ask you the same questions, Sheriff. Why haven't you done anything? Why are you hesitating?" The blond quarterback asks the mother.

"Because I need more information. And because, in spite of everything I just said, I still look at her and I… I see my daughter," Liz tells him.

"Damon is the problem, not Caroline. You should focus on him," Matt replies.

"I shouldn't have involved you, Matt. Thank you for all of your help, but I'll take it from here." She assures him and gets up, walking away, leaving Matt alone.

Alaric, Jenna, Elena, Stefan, Elijah and Lorilei sit around the living room as the history teacher explains what's happened to him. "So you don't remember anything that happened?" Stefan asks him.

"No. It's like I blacked out and woke up 3 days later. Katherine was there," Alaric answers.

"She's under compulsion. Damon snuck her some vervain, but she can't leave until Klaus tells her she can," He explains.

"Where is Damon?" Elena asks, worried about the older Salvatore.

"I saw him go upstairs," Jenna tells her, and she walks off, looking for him.

"So what else did I do?" Alaric questions, hating not knowing.

Elena walks upstairs and finds Damon in his bedroom. "You disappeared," Elena comments, looking at the older Salvatore.

"I don't want to hear anymore," Damon replies.

"I need you to understand why I'm doing this," She tells him.

"Why? It clearly doesn't matter what I think," He grumbles back at her, growing bitter.

"I'll be fine, Damon. I'll drink the elixir, Bonnie will kill Klaus and then all of this will finally be over." The doppelganger assures him.

"If it works," The older Salvatore argues.

"It will work," Elena promises him, having some faith in Lorilei's abilities.

"You think it will work. You want it to work. Why am I the only one who's convinced it won't? There has to be another way," Damon argues.

"There isn't," She tells him.

"And you're going to die, Elena," He snaps at her.

"And them I'll come back to life," The doppelganger argues, growing bored of going around in circles.

"That is not a risk I'm willing to take," Damon tells her.

"But I am," Elena replies, taking his hands, trying to get him to see reason. "It's my life, Damon. My choice."

"I can't lose you," He mutters, looking at her, and she goes to the door, but he speeds towards her, stopping her. "There is another way."

"What are you…." She looks at him as he bites into his wrist. "Damon, no!" She shouts as he puts his wrist in her mouth, forcing her to drink his blood; she struggles against him. Stefan hears the commotion upstairs and rushes in, pushing Damon away from her. Elena falls to the floor, blood around her mouth, and Damon falls over the side of the room.

"What did you do?! Huh? What did you do?!" Stefan demands, going toward Elena to see if she's okay.

"I saved her life," Damon replies, getting up and looking at her. "You're so bent on dying, at least this way I know you'll come back."

"As a Vampire! She'll come back a Vampire," He snaps at his brother.

"It's better than nothing else," The older Salvatore argues.

"How could you, of all people, take that choice away from her?" Stefan snaps, looking at his brother.

"Go ahead. Wish me an eternity of misery. Believe me, you'll get over it," Damon says, looking at Elena, and Stefan grows angry, running at his brother and pushing him away.

"Stefan!" Elena shouts as Damon takes a wooden stick, pushing his younger brother against the wall and pinning him with it.

"Admit it. You just wish you had the balls to do it yourself," The older Salvatore snaps at his brother. Stefan punches him across the face several times, making him fall to the floor, blood running down his nose. Damon takes the wooden stick, driving it through Stefan's stomach, the younger brother grunting in pain as he falls to his knees. Elena rushes over to Stefan, pushing Damon away and looks at him with hatred.

"Get out of here!" Elena shouts at him as Alaric and Jenna run into the room.

"What the hell's going on?" Alaric yells as he looks at the scene in front of them.

"Just get him out of here!" She shouts again, and he goes to his best friend, pushing him out of the room.

"Oh, my God," Jenna gasps, still in shock.

"Okay, Jenna, downstairs are some blood bags. Go get them now. Go!" Alaric tells her, seeing her hesitation, but she goes. Elena pulls out the stick, hating to see her boyfriend in pain as she places his head on her lap.

"It's okay. It's okay. You're going to be okay," Elena promises, trying to soothe him.

"I'm so sorry," Stefan grunts through the pain.

"Shh. It's okay," She tells him.

"I'm sorry," He repeats.

Damon walks downstairs into the library, pouring himself a drink; Elijah walks over with Lorilei, who goes upstairs, having an idea in mind. "Well, it sounds like you won't be needing this anymore. Feeding her Vampire blood may render it useless. Tell Elena I'll be back before nightfall. We'll proceed as planned." Elijah tells him, closing the box.

"We both know that elixir wouldn't have worked anyway," Damon argues.

"The problem, Damon, you talk a good game but you don't actually know anything. She'll never forgive you. And never for a Vampire… It's a very long time." He warns the young Vampire and walks away.

Lorilei walks upstairs to Stefan's bedroom and sees the Vampire drinking a blood bag, thanks to Jenna. "Thank you. Both of you," Stefan says to Alaric and Jenna.

"Yeah, well, we'll be downstairs," Alaric tells her and leads his girlfriend out of the room, seeing Lorilei, who steps further toward the bedroom door. "I know it's, uh, it's a lot to take in."

"Yeah," Jenna sighs.

"I tried to protect you from all this, but I should have known you could handle it." He tells her.

"Can I?" She questions.

"Well, you just did. Look, Jenna… I know we have a lot to talk about." The history teacher assures her, and she looks at him, touching his cheek. Lorilei quickly mutters a spell under her breath; she glances at Stefan's bedroom door, not seeing movement and does another spell, looking at the happy couple as they stiffen in place, awaiting orders.

"Jenna, I want you to give me a sample of your hair and some of your blood." Lorilei instructs the strawberry blond, and Jenna plucks strands of her hair, handing them to the Witch, who puts them in a handkerchief and into her jacket pocket. The McKnight takes out a vial from her jacket and a knife, cutting the strawberry blond's hand, who doesn't even grimace in pain as Lorilei catches the blood in the bottle and puts it back in her pocket before healing Jenna. "Jenna. Call me if anything happens or you have to leave the house." Lorilei steps toward the door seeing that Stefan and Elena have heard nothing outside, thanks to the Witch's silencing spell. "Both of you will forget this. Go back to whatever it was that you were doing." She orders them, and the couple snaps out of it and continues their conversation, unaware of what happened.

"Hey. I'm glad you're okay. I should have said that already," Jenna jokes and brings him into a kiss. Lorilei stands in Stefan's bedroom, seeing the couple sitting on his bed.

"How could he do that to me? Why?" Elena cries, making Lorilei roll her eyes.

"Hey. We've never talked about this. What this all means," Stefan tells her.

"It doesn't matter," She argues.

"Of course it matters. Hey. It matters." He tells her and notices Lorilei in the doorway; he looks up at the McKnight. "What do you want?"

"This is between me and the doppelganger. We need to talk alone." Lorilei informs them, hating what she's about to do.

"No. I don't think so." Stefan argues, and she looks at Elena.

"Okay," Elena answers, and the girls look at the Vampire, who walks out, closing the door behind him. "What is it you want?"

"I just wanted to assure you of something," Lorilei lies, loving the look of surprise on the doppelganger's face and offering her hand; Elena looks at her unsure but places her hand in the Witch's. "Unlike Elijah. I foresaw this happening," Elena's face twinges, feeling a little pain prickling under her skin, and Lorilei sees the familiar red glow surrounding their joined hands. "I changed the elixir to work even with Vampire blood. You'll drink it. Die and wake up human. Then live happily ever after."

"How?" She asks, and Lorilei smiles, dropping the doppelganger's hand and showing her the elixir.

"It's all very Witchy. A human wouldn't understand. Or your baby Witch," The brunette Witch lies again. After their quick chat, Lorilei leaves the elixir on the bed and walks to the door, opening it to see Stefen waiting patiently for them to finish. "See you tonight."

"I want you to go somewhere with me," Stefan tells his girlfriend, walking back into his room and sitting next to his girlfriend.

"Stefan, I can't," Elena protests.

"No, no, it's not far, okay? It's just for the day. I promise," He tells her.

"God I want to puke," Lorlei mutters, walking out of the Salvatore Boarding house and meeting Elijah, who waits by her car. "I've done it. I left the elixir with the doppelganger." She unlocks her car and climbs into the driver's seat as the Original enters the passenger seat. "I hope it works. I don't know if I got all the Vampire blood out of her. She seemed suspicious."

Carol sleeps in her hospital bed as Tyler watches her, sees that she's doing better, and decides to leave; glad to see she's okay, she walks out of the private room, strolls down the hallway, and is soon joined by Jules. "What are you doing here?" He asks his fellow Werewolf.

"I should be asking you that. I told you not to come," Jules snaps at him, worried for the little pup.

"She's my mother. I had to," Tyler argues.

"Now we have to get out of here. Lock ourselves up before tonight," The older Werewolf drags him, heading for the hospital exit.

Jules drags Tyler out of the hospital into the parking lot and comes across a surprised Caroline. "Tyler?" Caroline looks at him in shock. "Jules," She looks at her in discomfort after seeing the older Werewolf last time.

"I'll give you a few minutes," Jules excuses herself.

"Thank you," Tyler says.

"Just a few, Tyler," She warns him as it's too late.

"I got it," He assures her and she walks away, heading for the car, leaving them alone. "She's just making sure I'm safe."

"So what, are you two, like, friends now?" Caroline inquires.

"She's been helping me. How are you?" The young Werewolf asks her.

"I heard about your mom. I just came to check in on her," The blond Vampire replies/

"She's banged up, but she'll be okay," Tyler tells her.

"And you? Um… How's everything with you?" Caroline asks him, seeming a little nervous.

"I'm hanging in there," He answers, looking at the blond.

"Good," She replies, trying to find the words for the awkward exchange, and there's a little pause between them.

"Yeah. I should get going. Jules and I need to get on the road," The young wolf tells her, heading to meet with Jules at the car.

"You're leaving again?" The young Vampire asks him, turning around as he stops.

"I left for a reason, Caroline," Tyler reminds her.

"Your explanation must have got lost in the mail, along with your goodbye," She replies, getting annoyed.

"Well… Take care of yourself," The young wolf replies, needing to say more but is at a loss for words and walks to the car.

"Tyler…" Caroline says, stepping towards her; when an overwhelming pain overcomes her, she clutches at her head, yelling in pain. Tyler goes to her as she falls to her knees, and Maddox pops out from behind the truck, causing the young wolf to clutch his head in pain and fall to the ground. Greta rushes out to Caroline, injecting the blond Vampire with vervain, rendering her unconscious along with the boy, who falls too.

"Let's go," Greta warns Maddox, who grabs Tyler as she grabs Caroline, heading for the tomb to stash them. The Warlock gets into the car when his phone goes off and sees that Lorilei is calling him, but he ignores it. "Who was that?"

"An old friend," Maddox replies as his phone rings again. "I'll call her back later."

Matt walks out from the back room of the Mystic Grill, waiting for Caroline, but she's running late and calls her, but it goes to voicemail, making him worry. "Hey, Caroline, it's me. I thought you were coming back to meet me. Look, I need to talk to you. It's important." He hangs up and spots Damon walking to the bar, sitting in his usual spot and ordering a drink. Alaric walks in after him and sits down next to his best friend.

"I'll have the same," Alaric says to the bartender, who nods, grabbing their drinks.

"I screwed up," Damon grumbles, hanging his head.

"Yeah. Yeah, you did," The history teacher agrees.

"Gentlemen? Why so glum?" Klaus questions; breaking into their moment; Damon looks at Alaric, seeing him standing, looking at the stranger in fear and turns to see Klaus standing there, seeming pleased with himself.

"Ugh." Damon groans, looking at him. "Klaus, I presume."

"In the flesh." He replies, liking his little joke and looks at Alaric. "Thanks for the loaner, mate."

"Any reason you stopped by to say hi?" The younger Vampire questions, getting up from his seat and walking toward the Original.

"I'm told you and your brother fancies my doppelganger. Just thought I'd remind you to not do anything you'll regret." Klaus warns the reckless Vampire.

"Ha." Damon can't help but laugh, glancing back at Alaric. "Thanks for your advice. I don't suppose I could talk you into a postponement by any chance, huh?"

"You are kidding?" The Original challenges, looking at him. "He is kidding, right?" He looks at Alaric for confirmation.

"No, not really," Alaric answers, looking at his best friend in worry at what Klaus will do to him if he does something stupid and Damon-like.

"I mean, come on, what's one month in the whole grand scheme of things?" Damon inquires, looking at him as he approaches the young Vampire.

"Let me be clear… I have my Vampire. I have my Werewolf. I have everything I need. The ritual will happen tonight. So if you want to live to see tomorrow, don't screw it up." Klaus threatens Damon and walks away, bumping into Lorilei, who doesn't stop as she storms into the grill. Klaus looks at her as the brunette walks to the bar, and he can't help but admire her beauty, but he pulls himself away as she sits next to Alaric.

"That was fun," Damon comments and looks at Lorilei, who steals Alaric's drink.

"You're gonna screw it up, aren't you?" Alaric questions, sharing a look with the older Salvatore.

"You think if I took his Werewolf out of the equation, she might… Get over the fact that I tried to turn her into a Vampire?" He ponders.

"I think it won't matter, because you'll be dead," Lorilei says, ordering another drink. "And you'll likely get someone else killed too. At least that's what I would do anyway." She mutters the last part gulping down her scotch, thinking about a specific person she has in mind.

"But without the Werewolf, he can't perform the ritual tonight, which means I would have bought her one month before the next full moon." Damon reasons, earning a scoff from the McKnight Witch.

"But you'll still be dead," Alaric reminds him.

"Are you gonna help me or what?" He asks his best friend.

"What do you want me to do?" The history teacher asks, and they head off, leaving Lorilei alone with the bill.

"Those mother-"

"Pick up the damn phone you ass-" Lorilei curses as she walks back to her apartment building from the Mystic Grill after having paid for Damon and Alaric's drinks.

"Hello to you too, Lollipop," Maddox answers the phone, having finished putting the unconscious Tyler and Caroline in the tomb chained up and begins guarding them as he waits for nightfall.

"Where are you?" She asks him, cutting right to it.

"Why do you want to know?" He asks her, and she sighs.

"I don't have time for games, Maddie. Do you have your bracelet on?" The McKnight Witch asks, making him look at his covered wrist where the Celtic bracelet rests.

"Yeah. Lorilei, what's going on?" The Warlock asks her, hearing the seriousness in her voice.

"Where are you?" Lorilei repeats and pops into her shop, seeing Luka at the counter, watching her as she heads through the shelves of books.

"At the ruins of Fell Church. What's going on?" Maddox asks her, growing worried for her.

"I'm warning you as my oldest friend. Damon Salvatore is going to try and kill the Werewolf. He'll be coming for you. Keep that damn bracelet on," She warns him and hangs up, walking into the back room, revealing a dull supply room. She closes the door behind her and locks it before muttering a spell, and the far wall disappears, showing a dark room with a cage in the middle surrounded by unlit candles. "Hello, uncle. Shall we begin?" Lorilei walks inside towards the cage as the hole in the wall disappears. The candles around the room flash alight, and Lorilei stands by the bars grabbing the items she required from Jenna earlier that day out of her pocket.

"I want to go home," The man mutters in the corner of the cage.

"Kache l'nan san. Jen chèch je yo." She begins the spell, and the man inside the cage, hidden by the flickering flames, watches on in fear, unsure of what his niece wants with him. As she chants, Lorilei takes out a voodoo puppet resembling Jenna and wraps the strands of hair around it before dipping it into the bowl and pouring the blood over it. Lorilei looks at the man inside the cage as she sees his features and body beginning to change and smirks as he screams in fear. "Don't worry, uncle. Everything will be fine." Though it is a lie, she assures him as she watches her uncle change. "Sleep uncle." The McKnight Witch decides to let him sleep until it is time for her part of the plan.

Elena and Stefan walk along the forest, heading for a secret place only known by the younger Salvatore. "Where are we?" Elena asks her boyfriend, having walked for some time already.

"It's a sur[rise. Just a little bit longer," Stefan tells her, pulling her along.

"I'm not a Vampire yet, you know. My legs still get tired," She reminds him.

"Ready to talk about how you're feeling about all this?" He asks her.

"Uh… this morning I was wondering if I would live or die, and now… I'm going to possibly be a Vampire. I… I don't really know how I'm feeling," The doppelganger tells him, keeping what Lorilei told her to herself, still worrying that she could be wrong and the elixir she's taken won't work. The couple continues to walk and soon arrives at a beautiful waterfall. "My God, this is beautiful." Stefan looks at his girlfriend, sees her stunning smile and feels sorry for her, especially if she were to become a Vampire.

"I think you do know how you feel. I just want you to know that it's okay to tell me," Stefan assures her.

"I can't. Stefan, I just… I can't talk about it," Elena replies, struggling with all the thoughts inside her head.

"Well, if you don't want to, that's your choice. Today's about you. But… It's a long way to the top. Let's go. You never know what might come up," He teases her, stepping around and walking backwards.

"We're climbing all the way up to the top?" She asks, stepping towards him in shock.

"Oh, yeah," The younger Salvatore confirms, taking some glee in her shock.

"Well, can't you do one of your superpower Vampire jumpy things?" Elena asks him.

"No, it's your last day as a human. Why cheat now?" Stefan replies, and she smiles, glad to have a boyfriend like him and takes his hand, walking off together.

Katerina looks around in the empty fridge in Alaric's apartment; she finds an empty blood bag and throws it away when she hears the sound of a key in the lock. She gets up from the floor and runs to the front of the door, seeing Alaric on the other side. "Look who's dumb enough to come back," Katherine muses, looking at the human.

"Well, somebody had to invite him in. Damon," Alaric replies and the older Salvatore steps into view. "Would you like to, uh, come in?" Damon dramatically steps into the apartment, and she rushes over to him, trying to stop his idiocy.

"Are you trying to get me killed?" She snaps at him, and he pushes her against the far wall, using his Vampire strength and speed.

"I gave you vervain, now I'm here to collect. I got it from here, Ric," He assures his friend.

"You sure?" Alaric asks him.

"Yeah, only one of us needs to get blamed for this. Get back in the house. Keep Elena from handing herself over," Damon instructs the history teacher.

"Okay," Alaric sighs, walking away, leaving the older lovers alone.

"Get blamed for what?" Katherine asks him.

"I need to know where Klaus is keeping his Werewolf," Damon replies.

"Why? What are you going to do?" She inquires, giving him a funny look.

"Dead Werewolf equals no ritual," The older Salvatore clarifies.

"No. You can't interfere, Damon. Klaus will kill you and everyone you've ever met," Katerina warns him.

"I just need to delay this thing," He tells her, scared of Elena hating him.

"No. No way," She snaps.

"You should like this. It's going to buy another month of your pathetic life," Damon retorts, getting the wrong idea as usual.

"Right. Except that I'm not the Vampire he's planning on sacrificing," Katherine corrects him.

"What?" He asks her as she steps away, seemingly smug.

"Yeah. He's got Caroline Forbes and Tyler Lockwood. Therefore, I'm in the clear." She informs him.

"And where'd he get that idea from?" Damon questions, walking toward her.

"Hey! Hey, hey, hey, I'm just trying to stay alive long enough to get myself out of here," The Vampire doppelganger pleads a little.

"What if I told you Elena had Vampire blood in her system?" He informs her, loving the look of utter terror on her face.

"What?" Katherine sputters in disbelief.

"Imagine how much fun that will be competing with Elena for Stefan's love for, I don't know, forever." Damon taunts her.

"The tomb. He's got them in the tomb," The Vampire doppelgänger reveals.

"Thank you," He replies and walks out of the apartment, leaving Katerina to her thoughts.

Caroline wakes up, finding herself far inside the tomb, chained to the wall facing Tyler, who is also chained up. "Tyler?" Caroline mutters, looking at the Werewolf.

"You all right?" He asks her.

"Yeah. I think so," The blond Vampire replies and tries breaking the chains, but they won't budge.

"I already tried," Tyler tells her.

"Those Witches vervained me," The blond Vampire cringes, still feeling the aftereffects.

"Who were they?" The young wolf asks her.

"I think they're with Klaus," Caroline informs him.

"Who the hell is Klaus?" He asks her, and she realises he's out of the loop as everything has worsened since he left.

"Tyler…" She says after a long, tense pause. "You shouldn't have come back here."

Elena and Stefan continue their climb to the top of the waterfall, talking about her possible future as a Vampire. "I guess Bonnie will have to make me a daylight ring?" Elena questions, swinging her intertwined hand with Stefan.

"Yeah, piece of cake," Stefan replies.

"And I'll never be able to watch "Bambi" again," She jokes a little.

"I definitely wouldn't recommend that," He replies.

"What's the best part about being a Vampire?" The doppelganger questions.

"Ahh. You feel like you could do anything. Be anyone. Beautiful things are more beautiful. Everything's heightened, you know, just a little bit more intensely, love more powerfully." The younger Salvatore tells her, looking at her the whole time he talks.

"And the worse?" Elena asks him.

"Ah, you know the worst," Stefan thinks of his past.

"Aside from the blood," She adds, and he stops, looking back at her.

"Anger becomes rage. When you're sad, you're in despair. Grief. Loss. It can cripple you. That's why so many of us turn our emotions off. It just becomes… Too overwhelming. You know, for a while, for me, the good just wasn't worth the bad." He explains, his dark past flashing behind his eyes.

"How long before you learned to handle both?" The doppelganger asks him to get some insight into her possible future.

"Well, I'm still trying. Every day. What else?" Stefan replies, trying to switch the conversation.

"Let's just keep going. We're not even halfway to the top," Elena says, walking off, and he follows, both of them seeing something dark in their future.

Katherine is making coffee in the kitchen when Klaus walks into the apartment. "Everything okay?" She asks him, seeing his downcast look.

"What have you been doing?" He asks her, avoiding her question.

"Making coffee. Do you want some?" Katherine answers, hoping he doesn't see through her life, but Klaus knows better and rushes to her, strangling the doppelganger.

"Tell me what you've been doing," Klaus compels her.

"Making coffee," She lies through her teeth, glad for the vervain, and he releases the Vampire doppelgänger, and she steps away.

"Wait. Take off your bracelet. Now," The Original instructs her, and Katherine takes it off without hesitation and gives it to him. "I want you…to walk over to the window and stand in the sunlight."

"But I'll burn," Katerina argues.

"You don't have a choice," Klaus reminds her, and she hesitantly stands by the window in the sunlight as her skin begins to burn. Katherine screams in pain as her skin burns, and Klaus watches her with a smile, happy to let her suffer for lying to him, and he allows her to burn for a few more moments. "That's enough," He tells her, and she runs into the corner of the room within the shadows as she heals. "Guess I was wrong. All right then. I need you to do something for me."

Lorilei steps into her apartment, seeing Elijah standing in the middle of the room, seeming to be deep in thought, but it's broken when her phone rings, startling the Original, who looks back at her in surprise. "Hello, Jenna?" She answers the phone. "Stay where you are Jenna. I'll come to you. I'll be just a second." She hangs up the phone and looks at the Noble Original. "It's begun."

"I'll meet you at the old Witches' house," Elijah tells her, and she nods, heading back out of the apartment.

Damon walks through the woods toward the tomb; Maddox emerges from his hiding place as he steps closer. "Which one are you trying to save? The blond, or the wolf? Did you really think Klaus would leave them unprotected?" Maddox questions the Vampire.

"Wishful thinking," Damon replies, and he rushes toward the Warlock, pinning him to the ground. Maddox struggles against the Vampire as he strangles him but manages to use his powers, throwing Damon off him onto the floor. The Warlock gets to his feet, using his powers on Damon, giving him an aneurysm and making the older Salvatore scream in pain. Suddenly there's a gunshot, and Maddox looks down to see a small bloody hole in his chest and falls to his knees. Damon looks up, sees Matt with a rifle and runs to the Warlock, snapping his neck and looking at the blond quarterback. "What are you doing here?"

"Where's Caroline?" Matt asks him.

"Listen, man. Not a good time to play the hero," The older Salvatore warns him.

"Where is she? And what did he do to her?" He demands, raising his gun.

"I'm just here to rescue her," Damon replies and rushes over to the blond, taking his weapon, hitting him over the head with it, causing Matt to fall to the leaf-covered ground, unconscious. "You're lucky I already screwed up once today or you'd be dead." He disarms the rifle, crouches, checks on Matt, and sees the wooden bullets.

"The whole Sun and Moon curse is fake?" Tyler questions after listening to Caroline explain what's happened since he left the small town.

"That's what Elena learned. Klaus still needs to do the sacrifice, but it's just not for that." Caroline adds.

"And you think that's why they grabbed us? For the sacrifice?" He asks her.

"Yes," She answers.

"He's going to kill us?" The young wolf questions.

"I think so. Yes," The blond Vampire answers again.

"The whole time I've been gone, Jules has been helping me to come to terms with what I am. How to deal with it. Guess none of it matters anymore," Tyler grumbles the last part.

"Why didn't you say goodbye? You just left," Caroline asks him, needing an answer.

"You want to talk about this now?" He replies.

"Well, if we're going to die, I might as well know the truth. Why did you leave me?" She asks him again.

"I knew you hated me. I thought you deserved better than having someone like me in your life." The young Werewolf confesses.

"I was hurt. You know, you turned your back on me when I needed you. But… I could never hate you, Tyler." Caroline confesses, and there's a moment between them; Tyler smiles at her, glad she doesn't hate him, and they hear the door of the tomb open, worried that it's the Warlock, but in walks Damon Salvatore. "Damon?"

"Your boyfriend's outside with a rifle loaded with wooden bullets," Damon tells her as he walks over to the blond Vampire. "You have some explaining to do."

"What, Matt?" She questions in shock.

"Matt knows about you?" Tyler asks her.

"No, I…" The blond stumbles, unsure of what happened.

"Shh. Tomorrow's problem," Damon assures her and breaks the chains, releasing her, and she gets to her feet. "Let me just get you out of here."

"Wait, Damon. No! I'm not leaving without him," Caroline tells him, looking at Tyler.

"Ohh. It's getting dark soon," The older Vampire mutters, looking at the young wolf. "How fast can you get the hell away from here?"

"I need to get to my family's cellar. I can lock myself up," Tyler replies.

"I'll help," Caroline tells him, and he goes toward the Werewolf, crouching in front of him.

"Don't make me regret this," Damon warns him, and he pulls at the chains, breaking them.

Elena and Stefan make it to the top of the waterfall. "We made it! Ahh," Elena sighs, looking at the gorgeous view.

"That's nothing. If you've climbed Mt. Everest," Stefan brags.

"Nobody likes a bragger, Stefan," She teases him as she overlooks the landscape. "Oh, wow."

"Yeah. Hey, you can say it," The doppelgänger's boyfriend assures her, and she looks back at him.

"Say what?" The doppelganger asks him.

"The thing you've been wanting to say, but… Been afraid of how you'll make me feel." The younger Salvatore replies.

"There's nothing I can say, Stefan. It's not going to change anything." Elena tells him.

"Might make you feet better. Look, I know this isn't the first time you've thought about it. Drinking Vampire blood to survive. I mean, I know I've thought about it a hundred times." Stefan confesses.

"And before all this with Klaus, did you think about it then?" She asks him, wanting to know the truth.

"Of course I did. Elena… If it were my choice. I'd want to be with you forever," He tells her, looking into her eyes and taking her hand.

"Why have you never brought it up?" The doppelganger asks him, looking back at him, confused.

"'Cause I know if it was an option, you would have. It would be selfish for me to ask you." The young Salvatore tells her.

"Didn't stop Damon," Elena snaps, angry at the older Salvatore brother, and looks at the younger Salvatore.

"He shouldn't have done what he did. He did it because he loves you," Stefan informs her, and she looks at him in shock.

"But he did this to me, Stefan, which means he doesn't really know what love is. And to be honest, I don't know if I do. I'm 17 years old. How am I supposed to know any of this yet?" She questions, breaking into tears and taking his hand in hers, wishing nothing was happening. "I know that I love you, Stefan. I know that. But my future? Our lives together? Those were things I was supposed to deal with as they came along. I was supposed to grow up." She cries. "Decide if I want to have kids and start a family. Grow old. I was supposed to have a lifetime of those choices, and… now? That's all gone."

"There, say it," He encourages her.

"I don't want to be a Vampire, Stefan. I never wanted to be one," The doppelganger breaks into tears.

"I know," The Vampire boyfriend replies and pulls her into an embrace as she cries, not wanting to become a Vampire, and he can't help but let a few tears fall as well at the thought of losing her.

Damon, Caroline and Tyler leave the tomb, finding it's already nightfall. The blond Vampire sees her barely conscious boyfriend on the ground as he begins to wake up, and she rushes over to him. "Hey, Matt!" She yelps and looks at the older Vampire. "Hey. Did you hit him?!"

"Did you already forget the part about the gun with the wooden bullets?" Damon questions her, and Tyler lets out a slight growl, signalling the beginning of his transformation as he holds his chest, feeling his bones beginning to shift, and he looks up at the full moon above.

"Tyler? Tyler?" Caroline calls out to him as she helps Matt to his feet.

"It's starting," Tyler announces, walking off.

"Grab boy wonder and let's go," Damon demands, wanting to get out of dodge.

"Come on," She says, walking behind them with Matt trailing, unsure of what's happening.

Stefan drives his car up the driveway of the Salvatore Boarding house and parks out front; turning off the engine, he quickly gets out and goes to Elena's side of the car, opening the door. She gets out of the car, holding his hand, having enjoyed her time with her boyfriend. "Thanks for today." Before he can say anything back, he feels someone appear behind them and puts himself in front of Elena, pulling her behind him as they both turn to see Klaus standing there patiently.

"You got me all nervous. I thought maybe you'd done something stupid. You ready, my dear?" Klaus questions, looking at the doppelganger.

"I'm ready," Elena answers, stepping towards the Original, but Stefan stops her, angering the Hybrid.

"No," Stefan argues, not wanting his girlfriend to leave him and possibly die and something happen to her that can never be taken back.

"I wouldn't. No reason for you to die, too," Klaus warns him, and Elena turns to face Stefan, who doesn't tear his eyes away from the Original, scared he'll take her away forever.

"Stefan, hey, hey, it's time, it's fine. I'll go. No one needs to get hurt. There's no reason for you to get hurt." Elena tells him, trying to reassure him and pulls him into a kiss to say goodbye. "I love you."

"I love you," Stefan whispers back, hoping it's not the last time he says those words or she hears him say them.

"Close your eyes. Close your eyes," The doppelgänger instructs, and the young Vampire complies; closing his eyes, seeing his eyes are closed, the doppelganger lets go of his hand and seconds after, he opens them, finding himself alone in the driveway.

Stefan storms into the house, slamming the front door behind him, and Alaric sees him as they pass in the hallway. "The; theu are. I got here, the house was empty," Alaric says, seeing the young Salvatore flustered.

"Where's Damon?" Stefan asks him, ignoring what he'd said, needing to know where he is.

Lorilei stands outside her old home, seeing lights on inside, but doesn't move from her spot for a second. Instead, she looks down at the letter she holds in her hands and walks up the pathway to the door; she places the note on the porch and knocks before disappearing. The door opens, and Alexis peeks through the door; not seeing anything, Edward stands behind his twin and sees the letter lying on the ground. He steps around her and picks up the letter, sees their names written on the front and opens it, pulling out the pages. A photo falls onto the floor as he reads the letter, and Alexis picks up the picture with shaking hands. Edward finishes the letter and looks at his sister, pulling her into a tight embrace as she cries and drops the photo of the twins and Lorilei many years ago on the floor.

The group travels through the woods when Tyler feels his bones shifting painfully inside his chest. "What's happening? Is he okay?" Matt asks, looking back at his best friend, who's lagging behind.

"He better not wolf out on us," Damon groans, growing worried when his phone rings; he pulls out his phone and answers it. "Bad time, little bro."

"What the hell are you doing?" Stefan asks him.

"Saving the day. I figured you'd understand. Just tell Elena to stay put," He replies.

"She's already gone, Damon," The younger brother informs him.

"What?" Damon snaps.

"Klaus came. He took her," Stefan adds.

"I'll take care of it," He replies and hangs up as Tyler falls to the ground as the transformation continues.

"Tyler!" Matt shouts, going to his best friend.

"I don't know if I can hold it off. Get out of here," Tyler warns them, gritting his teeth in pain.

"Tyler, it'll be okay," Caroline assures him, stepping towards him, trying to comfort him.

"Go!" He shouts through the pain.

"You've got time. We're almost there, just…." She replies calmly.

"It's happening faster," The young wolf warns them again.

"Tyler, it's okay," The blond Vampire says, seeing his teeth becoming sharper and his eyes glowing a bright yellow. Tyler rushes over to Caroline to attack her, but Damon intercepts him, wrestling with the Werewolf, who tries to take a bite out of the Vampire. Damon pushes Tyler off him, but not before the Werewolf takes a nip out of him, and Damon jumps up, looking at the two blonds. "Damon…"

"I'm fine," Damon lies to her, feeling the sting on his arm from the slight bite from the young Werewolf.

"Get out of here!" Tyler shouts as he fights the pain, the transformation growing increasingly painful and faster.

"Get to the Lockwood cellar. If it held him in, it'll keep him out. If it doesn't… Use these," He tells them, fishing out the wooden bullets he took from Matt earlier. "it'll buy you a couple of seconds. Go. Go!" The blond couple runs off, leaving Tyler writhing in pain, and Damon takes one look at him and runs off, heading to find Klaus again to save Elena.

Klaus storms into Alaric's apartment, looking over to Katherine as she sits at the dinner table, seemingly bored. "Where's Maddox? He should be back by now," Klaus huffs, walking to the couch.

"I don't know," Katherine replies, watching the Original hook his phone up to the laptop and open it, seeing the live feed being streamed. "What are you doing? Where's Elena?"

"I sent her off with Greta," He answers, looking at the screen, watching Jules as she transforms. "It's almost time." He smiles, happy to finally be whole after so long, when the front door suddenly opens, and the pair look at the open door. "I wasn't aware you'd been invited in." He leans back in his chair, not looking at the young Vampire, and Katerina stands, looking at her ex-lover.

"I've come here to tell you that you have to postpone the ritual," Damon demands.

"Didn't we already have this conversation?" Klaus questions, growing bored of his antics.

"Yeah, but that was before I rescued your Werewolf, and Vampire and killed your Witch," He informs him, and the Original angrily jumps to his feet, stepping toward the young Vampire.

"Excuse me?" The Original questions, standing in front of Damon.

"And you can kill me for it. I don't care. It was all me," Damon tells him.

"Katerina, give us a moment," Klaus tells her; she complies and walks away into the bedroom, her eyes not leaving them. "I've heard about you. The crazy, impulsive Vampire in love with his brother's girl. I knew one of you would try to stop me, It was a just a 50/50 guess on who," He moves towards his laptop and plays the video, turning the volume up a little; Damon hears the screams coming from the device. "The nice thing about Werewolves is they tend to travel in packs. Need a closer look?" He closes his laptop and picks up his phone, chucking at Damon, who catches it and sees Jules on the screen.

"Jules," Damon mutters, feeling defeated.

"When you spend a thousand years trying to break a curse… You learn a thing or two. First rule… always have a back up. Back up Werewolf. Back up Witch." The Hybrid explains, loving the look of defeat on Damon's face.

"Back up Vampire," He finishes.

"I've got that covered, too." Klaus assures him and jumps the reckless Vampire, knocking him unconscious.

Caroline and Matt run toward the Lockwood cellar and rush down the steps, closing the door behind them as they hear the snarling of a Werewolf. "Come on, down here," Caroline tells her boyfriend.

"Is that going to hold?" Matt asks her, looking at the wooden door.

"No," She answers and moves further into the cellar with Matt following her as they hear the snarling and growling of the Werewolf outside. Caroline moves to the iron gates, closing them behind her as Matt moves with the rifle. "Help me with the gate. Help me with the gate." She orders him as she pulls on the heavy iron gate. Matt helps her close it as the dark-coloured fur wolf smashes through the wooden door, enters the cellar and looks at its prey. "Tyler? It's me. It's Caroline. Tyler?" The wolf rushes over to the gate, smacking into the iron bars.

Katherine leans over unconscious Damon, slapping him across the face once she tries giving him some blood from one of the blood bags. "Hey, Damon. Hey, Damon," She slaps him again, and he regains consciousness.

"Ahh. What the hell happened?" He asks, feeling groggy from coming back from the dead.

"He's gone. He went to do the ritual. I'm sorry. I had to. He would have known that I was on vervain if I didn't do it." Katerina defends herself.

"Ahh. Do what?" Damon asks her, sitting up a little.

"Klaus. He made me call her to lure her out. He needed another Vampire," The older Vampire argues, trying to defend her sketchy actions.

"Who did you call? Who did you call, Katherine?" The older Salvatore demands, looking at her.

Elena follows Greta as they walk through the forest in the dark. "Where are we going?" Elena asks the Witch as she tries not to trip.

"This way," Greta replies, not giving the doppelganger any clue about their final destination.

"You're Luka's sister, aren't you? I heard about you. He and your father were looking for you." She informs the Martin Witch.

"Wel, they were wasting their time. I wasn't lost," Greta replies harshly as Elena trips over a rock.

"God, I can't see anything," Elena complains, and the Martin Witch lights piles of fire around them. Elena looks over to see that she's back at Steven's Quarry, where she told Stefan she never wanted to become a Vampire. She zeroes in and sees someone lying on the ground, not moving and looks closer to see that it's her aunt Jenna. "Jenna? Jenna! Jenna?" She runs towards the light strawberry blond. "Hey, hey, Jenna! Jenna!" She doesn't feel a pulse and assumes the worst. "Oh, my God. No. Jenna! No!" She looks back at Greta with tears in her eyes. "He killed her? Why? I did everything that he asked." Jenna takes in a deep breath, shooting up next to her niece.

"She's not dead. She's in transition," Greta corrects her.

Maddox gasps awake as he sits up, looking around to find himself still in the woods by the old Fell Church ruins and hears a howling somewhere inside the forest. The Warlock quickly gets to his feet, checking himself for any injuries and remembers the bracelet his best friend gave him years ago. He pulls his sleeve up to see it's gone and replaced with a Celtic branding around his wrist. He looks around in shock before hearing something moving towards him and decides to run, heading for his car; he makes it to find someone waiting for him, a young boy. "You must be Maddox. I'm Luka," He introduces himself, and Maddox remembers Greta talking about her younger brother. "Lorilei will be happy to know it worked. We should head back to her place. You're still a little out of it after coming back from the dead." He opens the door to the car, and Maddox looks confused but gets in anyway.

"What the hell happened to me?" Maddox asks the young Warlock.

"How much do you remember?" He asks him.

"I was guarding the Vampire and Werewolf for the ritual and then some cocky bastard came along and I remember getting shot then it goes black." The older Warlock answers as Luke drives off.

"Lorilei said she brought you back to life. And told me to grab you once you'd woken up and take you back to her place and you'll talk once the ritual is complete." Luka explains, and Maddox smirks.

"She was always too smart for her own good," Maddox muses and rests his head against the window, remembering his time in Columbia with the McKnight Witch.

Damon stands in Alaric's apartment, not understanding why Klaus didn't use him as planned. "Should have used me. Why didn't he use me?" Damon questions.

"He couldn't. Damon, he said you were good as good as dead," Katherine tells him.

"What does that even mean?" He asks her.

"What does that mean?" She asks him, pulling his arm out, showing the bite mark he got from Tyler. "What is this, Damon?"

"It's a Werewolf bite," The older Salvatore answers, looking at the grim-looking bite, knowing he's doomed.
