The Ties That Bind

Lorilei wakes up early and heads to the bookshop to do some paperwork in the office at the back while Klaus goes to the Pack Den to chat with the other Alphas about what's been going on and finding the coffins. Lorilei comes into the bookshop and finds the twins waiting for her. "And what are you two doing here?" She asks them, putting her hands on her hip as she looks at her younger siblings, who have been clingy since she came back into town. She does like it, having missed them, too, but she worries about them sometimes.

"We were going to ask if you'd come to our parents meeting tonight," Alexis asks her older sister, who looks at her.

"Of course, I will," Lorilei agrees, moving towards them and taking them into her arms. "What's really going on here?"

"When are you moving back to the house?" Edward asks her, missing her and wanting to spend time with their only living relative.

"Ah…" She mutters, looking at them. "Well, I thought you would like to stay at the house with Jenna and Jeremy, considering that's your house."

"So you don't want to live with us?" Alexis asks, surprised, and they move away from her.

"That's not what I meant. I meant - What I'm trying to say is: 'Do you want to stay living with Jenna and Jeremy or do you want to live with me and Klaus'?" The Siphon tells them, and the twins beam. Lorilei smiles, glad she made Klaus set up two rooms for the twins and several guest rooms.

"Really?!" The McKnight twins beam at their older sister.

"Really." Lorilei repeats calmly. "I know I haven't been around for a long time," She cups Edward's face and moves hair from Alexis' face. "And I want to change that. But if you do live with me and Klaus. I do not want you to get involved in our business. I want you to have as normal school life as possible. And I can help with your Witch schooling. Also, if I say you are to leave the house for any reason, you will do so. Are we clear?"

"Yes, Lei," The twins agree; though they know she's serious, they want to help their big sister.

"Promise me," She retorts, seeing their happy faces.

"We promise," They reply, and Lorilei knows they will try to help her, but she doesn't want them getting involved in something that could possibly get them killed.

Bonnie walks through the cemetery, passing her grandmother's tombstone, 'Sheila Bennet, Beloved Grandmother', then another, reading 'Amelia Bennett. She was well esteemed and loyal to all who knew her.' Another reads, 'The memory of Ernestine Bennettt. Rest in peace.' Bonnie sees a coffin sitting above ground and places her hand on it. Klaus appears behind her, and she turns around to face him. "I figured out how to open it. Can you?" Klaus taunts her and rushes towards the young Bennett Witch, biting into her neck. Bonnie wakes to find herself suddenly in the coffin and uses her phone screen to illuminate the inside. She screams for help and bangs on the coffin lid.

"Let me out! Please! Oh my God, oh my God!" Bonnie screams. "Fes patrus tribum, melan veras, et vasa quisa, exu quisa!" She bangs furiously on the coffin lid, and Bonnie hears footsteps outside the coffin coming closer. "Hey! I'm in here! I'm in here! I'm in here!" A woman opens the coffin, and Bonnie looks at her, recognising her.

Bonnie brings Elena to the Witch House, needing the Doppelganger's help. Bonnie and Elena stand before the coffins, looking at the Original family. "I've been having these dreams for days now," Bonnie explains. "It's like the Witches are trying to send me a message."

"I just can't believe that you guys kept this from me this whole time," Elena grumbles, feeling betrayed by her friends.

"Damon thought, if you knew where the coffins were, Klaus could threaten people to get the information out of you." She explains.

"So, these are the rest of his family?" The Doppelganger asks, looking at the four coffins.

"Yeah. Elijah and two others," The Bennett Witch replies. "This one...is the one we can't open. We don't know who is in it or what's in it, only that I think my dream's telling me it'll help us kill Klaus." Damon walks into the basement and sees Elena, with whom he doesn't want to be involved whatsoever.

"What the hell are you doing?" Damon snaps, looking at the two teenagers.

"I needed her to know about the coffin," Bonnie tells him.

"And I needed you to keep her out of it, Bonnie," He argues, glaring at the young Witch.

"So what are you gonna do, Damon? Are you gonna kidnap me, so that I won't tell anyone?" Elena asks him, acting tough.

"Don't tempt me, Elena," The older Salvatore snaps.

"I think I know who can open the coffin, Damon," Bonnie informs him. "And I need Elena to help me find her."

"Find who? What are you talking about?" Damon asks, looking between the women,

"I couldn't place her face at first. Then I realised…" She replies, pulling a photo out of her pocket and showing it to Elena.

"Oh my God, Bonnie," Elena gasps, looking at it, and Damon looks at the photo.

"Who is this?" Damon asks.

"It's my mum," Bonnie tells him.

Bonnie and Elena head to the Gilbert house and begin their search for Bonnie's mum. They search through a pile of driver's licence records and look through the records of everyone who happens to be named Abby Bennett. "Los Alamitos?" Elena asks, giving Bonnie the paper for a woman named Abby Bennett Wilson.

"Too old," Bonnie declines, shaking her head.

"Honolulu?" She asks again.

"I wish," The Bennett Witch chuckles. "How many of these are there?"

"A lot. I asked the Sheriff's office to pull up every single Abby Bennett in the country," The Doppelganger informs her.

"I know we haven't been able to really.. .that things had been weird, because of Jeremy, so, thank you for helping me with this," Bonnie says, looking at her friend. "I know you have a lot to deal with."

"There's nothing more important, Bonnie," Elena assures her.

"It's surreal. Having to track down a woman, who bailed on her own kid," she mutters bitterly.

"You know, you don't have to, right?" The Doppelganger argues. "Let Damon obsess over opening up the coffin. It doesn't have to fall on you."

"The coffin is spell shut. That makes it a Witch problem," The inexperienced Witch retorts. "So it does fall on me. I was bound to see my mother again sooner or later. And if Lorilei and Klaus get their hands on the coffin, who knows what they will do." Damon enters the house holding a manilla folder in his hand.

"Sooner. Abby Bennett Wilson, Monroe, North Carolina. Born in Mystic Falls Hospital, graduated at Mystic Falls High...blah blah blah." Damon informs the girls, handing Bonnie the folder, and she opens it, looking at the driver's licence record. "A little compulsion helps speed up the research process."

"This is her," Bonnie confirms.

"Yep. Road trip. I call shotgun," He jokes.

"Yeah-No," Elena declines his offer.

"Want me to hang out in the back with you?" The sassy Vampire teases, wiggling his eyebrows at her.

"You're not coming, Damon," She tells him.

"Why? I'm the one who found her," Damon argues.

"Okay, Damon. Look. Bonnie hasn't seen her mum in over fifteen years," The Doppelganger retorts. "We don't need your snarky commentary narrating the experience." Damon and Elena look at each other for a long time, which makes it awkward for Bonnie.

"What's going on with you two?" Bonnie asks, looking at them.

"We kissed. Now it's weird. Have a great trip," The older Salvatore Brother tells her before leaving, and Bonnie looks surprised at Elena, who is lost for words.

Caroline smiles, glad she's taking today off from everything Supernatural. She looks at her phone, not even seeing a message from her friends about last night. Caroline scoffs and heads into the living room, not knowing what to do with herself. She looks at the charm bracelets on her wrist, and Caroline knows she can't talk to Tyler because he's just as bad as her about their sudden break-up. But she thinks of Bobby, who she always likes talking to, though she didn't know he was a Werewolf and knew Klaus, but the talks they have during classes make her think he didn't realise who she was either. There's a ping from her phone, which makes her look, and she sees a text from Stefan, which makes her frown.

STEFAN:

Happy Birthday. Sorry, I didn't text you yesterday. Was going to say it when I saw you at school. But you weren't there. Blake was upset that she couldn't have your present. It's in your locker.

Caroline smiles and texts him back.

CAROLINE:

Thank you, Stefan. I'm not going to school again today. I'm having a redo birthday.

She sees Stefan texting back and smiles, glad he's not ignoring her as much after siding with Klaus.

STEFAN:

Hey, this is Blake. Stefan was texting, and I got curious. What happened? Do you want to go to the Grill? I can get my mum to make you a birthday cake. It's Bobby's birthday anyway.

Caroline frowns, wondering if Bobby ever told her when his birthday was, and she realises that he never did.

CAROLINE:

It's Bobby's birthday?

STEFAN:

Yeah. We're at the Pack Den. No one is at school today. Phoebe is going insane. She's the oldest of us kids. She hates looking after the younger ones sometimes. I know I would. My little sister Onyx is a pain.

CAROLINE:

Would it be okay if I came to the Pack Den?

STEFAN:

The older ones are taking Bobby to the Grill. We can meet you there in half hour.

CAROLINE:

Great. I will be there. Don't tell Bobby. I want it to be a surprise.

STEFAN:

Brilliant. This is my number, xxxxxxxxxx. Text me sometime.

Caroline smiles, glad she's made a friend with Blake, Stefan's girlfriend. They may not have said so publicly, but they've been hanging out often and even went to Homecoming together.

Caroline quickly gets changed and heads into town, needing to get a present for Bobby. She heads into Mystic Bookshop, knowing Bobby likes books on history and art. Caroline goes inside and looks around the shelves, seeing all the strange and old books. "Can I help you?" she hears a man ask and turns around to see the man who kidnapped her for Klaus' ritual. "Well, hello there."

"What are you doing here?" Caroline asks, glaring at Maddox.

"Well, I obviously work here," Maddox replies, gesturing to the bookshop. "What brings you here today?"

"I need a book on art history," She tells him. "It's a birthday present."

"Well, the only person I know that has a birthday today is Bobby. I didn't realise you were friends," he muses. He looks at her and waves his hand, and a book appears. "But I think Bobby doesn't have this one yet."

"Thank you," The blond Vampire mutters, and they both move toward the counter where Lorilei is counting the register when she notices Maddox and Caroline coming over.

"Well hello there, Caroline. How was your birthday?" Lorilei asks, smiling and seeming friendly to the young Vampire.

"Hi, Miss McKnight, it was eventful," Caroline replies, making Maddox laugh, but one glare from the older McKnight stops him.

"You don't have to call me that. Lorilei is fine. And I have to say, yesterday was eventful for me too." She retorts, ringing up the price. "That's 7.99."

"What happened to you?" The blond teen asks, looking at her and handing over the money

"Damon kidnapped me and tried to kill me," The Siphon answers, shocking the blond. "But as you can see, I'm a survivor." She winks, handing the book over and change.

"Thank you," Caroline mutters, feeling bad for the older McKnight. "I'm sorry about what happened."

"It's not your fault, Caroline," Lorilei assures her. "I mean from what Jeremy told me about Damon that he read from Elena's diary, he's an ass."

"Wait? Elena wrote about… she knew what he did to me?" She gasps, not knowing that Elena knew what Damon was doing to her when he first came to Mystic Falls.

"You didn't know?" The older McKnight asks, looking at her. "I thought you knew?"

"No," The blond Vampire whispers.

"I know Stefan tried helping you because after Jeremy told me, I kinda exploded on him. He said he was working on getting Damon away from you without you getting hurt. I would have thought Elena would have told you," Lorilei retorts, looking at her and moving around the counter, and Maddox moves away.

"No. She never said anything," Caroline whispers, looking at the older woman. "I always kept it to myself. I never told anyone." She cries, and Lorilei brings her into a hug, rubbing the blond's back as she sobs.

"Come on, let's go to the back office," The Siphon mutters, leading the sobbing blond Vampire into the back room where the office is. Lorilei leads Caroline to the small sofa, and they sit down. Caroline's phone pings, but they ignore it for now, but it keeps going. Caroline soon calms down a little more and checks her phone, seeing texts from Stefan and another number she recognises as Blake's.

"I should get going," The young Vampire mutters, wiping her eyes.

"Are you sure?" She asks, growing worried about the teenager.

"I'm meeting Stefan and Blake at the Grill," Caroline tells her, and Lorilei smiles.

"I see. It's Bobby's birthday. How about we wrap the book up for him?" The older McKnight suggests, and Caroline smiles, both heading out to the front of the shop again. Lorilei moves over to the counter and shows Caroline some wrapping paper; the blond teenager picks a dog-themed wrapping paper with a yellow silk bow.

Meanwhile, Alaric and Meredith talk and drink with each other at the Mystic Grill, which is a regular occurrence. "Do you want anything else? A beer?" Alaric asks her, wanting to avoid dealing with Damon and his drama today.

"I'd love one but I've got rounds in fifteen minutes, and a drunk Doctor is a bad Doctor," Meredith pouts sadly.

"Well, depends on what kind of drunk you are," He argues jokingly.

"Angry," She replies, and they laugh. "Thanks for lunch."

"Yeah, sure. So...next time dinner?" The history teacher asks her.

"Yeah, that would be great," Dr Fell agrees happily.

"Cool. Take care," Alaric says, smiling.

"Bye. Thanks," Meredith replies and leaves, with Damon passing her and walking up to Alaric at his table.

"Who's that?" Damon asks, looking at his friend.

"My Doctor," Alaric replies.

"She's a Doctor?" He questions, and the Vampire Slayer hums in reply. "What's the damage?"

"No damage," the history teacher argues.

"Come on, Ric, a fact of life. A girl that hot, that smart… damage," The older Salvatore retorts.

"Well, I'm looking for red flags. Her ex called her a psycho case the other day," Alaric informs him.

"Yeah, but it comes from her ex, doesn't count," Damon assures him; as usual, he's the psycho ex.

"Yeah, I guess you're right," He muses, and Damon picks up a notebook from the table, opening it and tossing it to Alaric.

"That's yours," The sarcastic Vampire tells him.

"Ooh, I wonder how my ex's would call me?" The Vampire Slayer muses.

"Nothing. They're all either dead or hate you," Damon retorts.

"Huh. Well, her ex is the medical examiner so he is dead adjacent," Alaric argues.

"She dated the medical examiner?" He asks his friend in shock, who hums in response. "Well, I don't think he's dead adjacent, I think he's just dead."

"What?" The history teacher asks, looking at him.

"Murdered. Sheriff is trying to keep a lid on it because he was staked in the chest like a Vampire," The older Salvatore Brother explains.

"Well, Meredith didn't say anything about that," Alaric retorts.

"Well, red flag number two," Damon adds.

"Who do you think killed him?" He asks, looking at him.

"I don't know but if I was a cop, your sexy Doctor lady friend would definitely be a suspect," The cocky Vampire argues, and suddenly the door bursts open with teenagers coming into the Grill. Damon recognises some of them as they come inside. Stefan is even among them when they settle happily at a large table. Damon watches as Stefan laughs with his friends and Blake, who wraps his arm around the red-haired Werewolf. Damon sighs and heads back home, needing to sort himself out before heading to the old Witches' House to look after the coffins before they're discovered.

Meanwhile, at the Salvatore Boarding House, Damon enters the house and finds Klaus sitting in a chair with a drink and the music blaring. Damon huffs, turning the music down enough for his sensitive hearing. "What are you doing here, Klaus?" Damon asks him, not truly scared of the Original Hybrid, which is a foolish mistake after what he did last night.

"Enjoying our stalemate," Klaus replies, smirking as he hides his desire to rip the older Salvatore into pieces for almost killing Lorilei last night, who clung to him all night.

"What do you want?" He demands tiredly.

"The question is what do you want? My Hybrids left town as you demanded, so please tell me what I need to do to get my family back," The Original Hybrid asks.

"Well, see...Klaus... I'm not negotiating," The older Salvatore argues, not intimidated by him.

"And you understand, that holding them indefinitely is the same thing as dropping them in the ocean?" Klaus reasons, growing tired of Damon thinking he has the upper hand.

"No, No. You leave Mystic Falls and then give me a call in a few years and we'll talk," Damon retorts as if that was going to happen.

"I can give you another chance. Just one more. Let's make a reasonable deal," He warns him, not wanting to play his game anymore.

"Or what? You make one move and I will drop…" The cocky young Vampire argues.

"Yes, right. Crazy Damon. How is that working out for you? Any friends left?" The Original Hybrid laughs, mocking him.

Back at the Mystic Grill, the younger Pack members are all around some tables, chatting and enjoying themselves before Bobby starts opening his presents. As Bobby opens his last present, Caroline enters the Grill and heads straight to the table. Bobby beams at seeing her, and Blake moves up, letting Caroline sit beside Bobby and handing him the wrapped present. He opens it, smiling as he sees the book on art history he's missing from his collection. "Thanks, Carebear!" Bobby beams, looking at the blond Vampire. "I thought you were doing a redo birthday? And how did you know it was my birthday?"

"Yeah, you didn't tell me," Caroline jokingly pouts at him. "Blake told me."

"You're welcome," Blake smiles, earning a cheeky glare from Bobby.

"Yes, thank you, Blake," Bobby grumbles but smiles, looking at Caroline. "I'm glad you're here." Tyler looks at Bobby and Caroline across the table, though they've only broken up for less than 24 hours. He knows their relationship was rocky after he turned into a Hybrid, but he doesn't like watching them flirt with each other.

"You okay?" Phoebe asks, looking at Tyler and seeing him stare at Caroline.

"Yeah…" Tyler mutters, and Phoebe sighs, rubbing his shoulder as she knows how hard breaking up with Caroline has been on him. The younger Pack members enjoy their time together, and soon, the waitstaff comes to their table with food and drinks before bringing out two cakes. One for Bobby and one for Caroline.

Meanwhile, Bonnie drives her car to meet the young Bennett Witch's mum, who abandoned her when she was young, with her best friend, Elena, in the passenger seat. "I just can't believe that I'm actually going to see her," Bonnie repeats. "Or meet her. Sort of. Since I don't really remember her."

"You don't really talk about her," Elena comments, looking at her.

"What's to say?" She retorts, shrugging. "She left, never wrote, never called. Not even when my Grams died. Could we talk about you and Damon instead?" She asks, glancing at her friend.

"I'm not talking about it. He kissed me. It's not gonna happen again," The Doppelganger lies.

"I mean...was it good?" The Bennett Witch questions, curious.

"It doesn't matter," Elena retorts defensively.

"That means it was," Bonnie smirks, and her phone rings. She looks at the caller ID to see it's Damon. "Oh... It's Damon. I told him I'd call him as soon as we left."

"Ignore him. Bonnie, you're about to see your mum for the first time in 15 years," She argues. "I'm not letting anyone ruin that moment."

"Yeah, but he's gonna keep at it until I pick up," The inexperienced Witch argues.

"Fine," The Doppelganger mutters, and she picks up the phone. "What?"

"Have you left yet?" Damon asks straight away.

Bonnie and I are gonna spend the night at the lake house while we come up with a game plan," Elena lies.

"You're kidding me, right?" He questions, frowning on the other line.

"No, Damon, I'm not. We need a night off from your insanity," She retorts defensively.

"Klaus is getting antsy. He knows that we're stalling. We need to move faster," The older Salvatore warns her.

"Well, we're doing everything we can. So, could you maybe not call every five minutes?" The Doppelganger asks, growing tired of his incessant phoning.

"Sure, Elena. Whatever you say," Damon grumbles, and the girls don't realise that he's standing in the Gilbert house, looking at the document in the kitchen that has the address for Abby Bennett in North Carolina. He hangs up, coming up with an idea to go after the older Witch and bring her back to Mystic Falls before Klaus can get his hands on the coffins, but he needs to do something first, so he calls Alaric to go after the girls as he needs to stay close to the coffins.

Klaus heads to the Mystic bookshop, needing to talk to Lorilei about what he learned earlier. Luckily, he also had April follow Elena today. He's on the phone with Daniel now as the Hybrid is ahead of the two girls out of Mystic Falls. "How's life on the road?" Klaus asks, coming into the building.

"Scenic. How's life in Mystic Falls without any Hybrids?" Daniel asks, though everyone is mainly confined to the Pack Den, which is just outside Mystic Falls.

"Boring. For now," he replies.

"If you want any of us back, you just have to say the word," The Hybrid reminds his Alpha.

"There's no need. I've been making friends with the town civil servants. There's a deputy, obnoxiously chatty, but useful nonetheless," the Original retorts, musing as he goes to the back office. "You're clear, what you need to do?"

"I got it covered," Daniel assures him and hangs up. He exits the car, goes to the house, and rings the bell. A woman answers the door, looking at him.

"Can I help you?" She asks, looking at him suspiciously.

"Abby Bennett Wilson?" He questions.

"That's me," Abby confirms, and Daniel gives her a friendly smile.

Elena and Bonnie soon arrive at Abby's house, unaware that one of Klaus' Hybrids has beaten them there. "Cute house," Elena remarks, admiring the house.

"Yeah, in the middle of nowhere," Bonnie retorts, looking at her friend.

"You ready?" She asks and waits for Bonnie, who gets out of the car first. They go to the front of the house and ring the doorbell. A teenage boy around their age comes up the stairs behind them.

"Hey, there," He greets them, making the girls jump and turn around to look at him.

"Hey, we're looking for, um, Abby Wilson," The Doppelganger tells him.

"She's not home. There anything I can do for you?" The teen asks them.

"It's okay, we can come back," Bonnie argues lightly, feeling nervous, and she starts walking away, but Elens grabs her and ushers her back.

"I'm sorry, but you look so familiar," He says, looking at Bonnie.

"Ehm, Abby is my mum," She informs him.

"Oh... I'm Jaime. You guys wanna come inside?" Jaime asks, looking at the girls. "Right this way." He opens the door, and they head inside to the kitchen. "You guys sure you don't want anything? We got fresh OJ, coconut water, some mango guava something."

"Water is fine," The young Bennett Witch tells him.

"Cool," He replies, smiling at her.

"So, are we...like related?" Bonnie asks him.

"Oh, nah. Abby's not my mum," the teenage boy informs her, making her sigh in relief. She seems to fancy her stepbrother.

"Oh, good," Elena mutters, looking at Bonnie.

"Yeah, she dated my old man back in the day," Jaime explains. "He's kind of a deadbeat, so when they broke up she took me in. Put me through school. Didn't freak out when I totaled her car. Twice."

"She sounds great," Bonnie whispers, feeling defeated at the thought that she never had that growing up when Abby enters the house.

"Jamie? Whose car's out front?" Abby calls into the house, and Bonnie steps out into the hallway.

"That's mine. I'm Bonnie. Your daughter," She announces herself.

"Hello, Bonnie," The older Bennett replies, looking at her daughter.

School finally ends, and the McKnight twins don't head home as they have a parents' meeting with a few of their teachers. Lorilei changes into something a little more casual and professional as she heads to the school for the meeting. Lorilei gets out of her car and heads to the school building. She hates being back in a place she long since never ever wanted to r4 step foot in again. She heads to the reception desk and smiles at the receptionist, who she recognises as an old classmate. "Well, if it isn't Carrie. What are you doing here?" She snarls.

"Hello Rachel, nice seeing you again. I see your eyebrows grew back," Lorilei replies, smiling fakely. "I'm here for Edward and Alexis McKnight."

"Right, right," Rachel mutters, typing on the keyboard. "The nightmare twins are in English classroom 102. Here's a visitor's badge; wear this at all times." Lorilei glares at her high school nemesis, takes the visitor badge, and puts it on.

"Thank you, Rachel. I'll be sure to talk to the Head Teacher afterwards. About you," she warns the receptionist, who gapes at the attitude. Lorilei heads out into the hallway, heading through the familiar route. Lorilei comes to the classroom and finds Alexis and Edward sitting at their desks and a teacher at their desk. Lorilei recognises the man, Mr Harmon, who was her very own English teacher when she was a Mystic Falls High School student.

"Thanks. I'll be talking to the Head Teacher later about you," She sneers. "See ya later, Rachel. Enjoy unemployment." She walks away, heading into the school after taking a visitor's badge. Lorilei heads through her old high school and enters the classroom to see another familiar face. "Well, this is my worst nightmare."

"Ah, it's good to see as well, Miss McKnight," Mr Harmon smiles, glad to see his old favourite students.

"Nice to see you, too, Mr Harmon. I'm surprised they kept you on," the older McKnight jokes, moving into the room and sitting at the front desk as Alexis and Edward watch their big sister. "I didn't realise that Rachel Kings worked here. She's still evil."

"Yes, Mrs Fell works here," He confirms. "I remember when you wrote an essay about how evil she was, and she didn't realise it was about her."

"That was funny," Lorilei laughs. "Anyway, we're here about the twins."

"Right, right. Well, it's been interesting," Mr Harmon remarks. "Edward was a middle student, he seems to be getting better so far. Alexis is the same as well, though she was going downhill at the end of last year, but she seems to be doing better as well. I've been both their homeroom teacher since Freshman year, and I want them to get through high school with the grades they need and deserve."

"Thank you, Mr Harmon. Is there anything to ensure they'll actually graduate?" She asks him, glancing at the twins, who realise they're getting extra work.

"Well, we have our careers meeting near Christmas, so we can talk about it then. For now, I think they're doing very well. They need to keep up the good work. I just wanted to talk to you about their living situation," he explains, looking at his former student.

"That will be changing. I had them living at home with Jenna Sommers and Jeremy Gilbert at the moment. They'll be living with me and my partner soon, once the new house is ready." The Siphon explains.

"I'm glad to hear it. It's nice to see you again. After prom we never saw you again and with your parents murder, it was all quite shocking," Mr Harmon remarks, and Lorilei nervously looks at the twins.

"Yeah, I ran away to New York," Lorilei replies, surprising the English teacher. "But, I'm doing much better now."

"I know. I saw your book; it's one of my recommendations for my Senior class," he tells her, making Lorilei smile.

At Abby's house, Bonnie calms down a little after meeting Jamie and her mum; she looks around and finds a picture of Jamie dressed in a graduation gown. "How are you holding up?" Elena asks her best friend, moving toward her.

"I'll be fine," Bonnie assures her. "I'm not here to get my mom back, I'm just here to get her help." Abby walks in from the kitchen nervously.

"So I hope you guys are hungry, cause...food has always been my go-to ice-breaker." Abby replies.

"You have a really beautiful home," Elena compliments her awkwardly.

"You're so sweet, just like your mum," she remarks, looking at the other girl.

"You knew my mum?" The Doppelganger asks in surprise.

"Miranda was my best friend," The older Bennett woman tells them.

"So, you had a daughter and a best friend and you still left?" Bonnie snaps angrily.

"My best friend is why I left," Abby explains. "Fifteen years ago a Vampire came to town. Looking for you, Elena. Looking for the doppelgänger. No one could manage to kill him. So I lured him out of town and cast a spell to desiccate him in a crypt in Charlotte."

"Mikael. He was an Original Vampire," Elena mutters, looking at the older Witch in shock.

"It took every ounce of power I had," She tells the teens. "Almost killed me. I recovered. But my magic didn't. My powers never came back."

"And neither did you," Bonnie adds snarkily.

"It wasn't that simple," Mrs Wilson argues.

"It wasn't? You cast a spell, put Mikael down and then...what?" She explodes. "You had to teach Jamie how to drive?"

"Bonnie…" Elena mutters, warning her.

"This was a mistake," The young Bennett Witch argues. "She has no magic. She can't help us." She starts to leave, but Abby runs after her and grabs her arm to stop her from leaving.

"Bonnie, wait, please. Don't go. Talk to me...Please?" Abby begs her, wanting to get to know her daughter better.

"I'll wait outside," Elena tells them, leaving the room and going outside. She sees a derelict barn when suddenly Alaric stands in front of her, surprising the Doppelganger.

"Hi, Elena. Nice lake house," Alaric remarks, smiling disapprovingly at her.

Meanwhile, at Mystic Falls Hospital, Damon waits for Dr Fell in the reception area, and she comes over to him, recognising him. "You know, we never got a chance to officially meet, Doctor…Fell." Damon remarks, looking at her.

"You're Alaric's friend, right? Damon Salvatore. I saw you at the Council Meeting. What are you doing here?" Meredith asks him, knowing what he is.

"Strolling the halls. You know, I like to wave to newborns through the window," He replies tauntingly, and Meredith smiles back at him and starts walking away, not wanting to talk with him. "I'm sorry about your boyfriend. Animal attack. Brutal."

"Ex-boyfriend. And thanks. I'm still kind of processing," She replies.

"Yeah, I'm sure. You know, I just thought I'd come by and tell you that it wasn't an animal attack," The sassy Vampire retorts, looking down at some paper. "But then I realised. You signed the death certificate." She opens a door quickly and goes inside, with Damon following.

"Would you rather, I say, he was staked like a Vampire?" Dr Fell questions.

"Wasn't he the guy that coined the phrase animal attack?" Damon argues as she closes the door behind them.

"Why do you even care?" Meredith asks, looking at him.

"Because Ric likes you. And if you are a psychopath that would really suck for him," He explains, looking out for his only friend.

"You think I killed my ex-boyfriend?" She frowns.

"I think psychopaths are incredibly high-maintenance," The older Salvatore remarks, knowing it's true as a psychopath himself.

"If you care about your friend, go figure out how Alaric came into the ICU on his death-bed and walked out an hour later without a scratch," Dr Fell argues.

"Fair enough," Damon agrees and starts to leave, but Meredith stabs him with a vervain shot, making the Vampire fall to the floor unconscious. She hurriedly takes a blood sample from the barely unconscious Damon and leaves shortly before the vervain passes through him, and he wakes up.

Lorilei leaves the school, and Alexis and Edward follow her to her car. The twins smirk as they wave at Rachel Fell, the receptionist whom the McKnights hate. The twins beam as Lorilei sticks to her word to talk with the Headmaster about the evil receptionist, who is currently packing up her little desk. "So, when are we moving in with you and your partner?" Edward asks, smiling as they get into Lorilei's car.

"Tonight," Lorilei informs them, who look at her in shock as they get into the backseats.

"Really? Tonight?" Alexis beams.

"Yep, we're going home, and we're getting packed up," she tells them. She starts the car and heads to the McKnight house.

"But what about Jenna and Jeremy?" The younger McKnight asks, worrying about leaving her boyfriend most of the time as Jenna is mainly on campus with her studies.

"I've talked to Jenna, and she's okay with it as she'll be graduating this year, so she'll be at the house most of the time. Meanwhile, Jeremy's going to be living with us during most of the weekdays," the Siphon explains as they head to the McKnight house. "That means he has his own room. Are we clear, Lexie?"

"Yes, Lei," Alexis grumbles.

"I don't see how you thought you'd get away with having sleepovers when the house is going to be filled with Original Vampires?" Edward retorts, looking at his twin sister, who glares at him.

"Shut up, Eddie!" She snaps, making Lorilei laugh and shake her head at the twins.

Though it is awkward, Abby and Bonnie sit at the dining room table, trying to talk to each other. "You've grown into such a beautiful young woman, Bonnie," Abby compliments her.

"Please, just stop with the muffins and the compliments," Bonnie snaps, feeling stressed about having to meet her mother after all these years. "I just wanna know the truth...why didn't you come home?"

"I had no magic. I was in a new city and I realised I had a chance to be somebody else. To be Abby Wilson, the woman...not Abby Bennett, the Witch," She explains. "I'm not proud of what I did, Bonnie. I ran. I know I ran. But you had your dad and your Grams, and, let's face it, your Gram's is way better at this stuff then I am."

"You don't know?" The young Bennett woman retorts, looking at her.

"What?" the lost Witch asks. Then she sees the sadness and dread on her daughter's face, and it clicks. "...How?"

"We were doing a rough spell, and we both exhausted ourselves. Her more than me," Bonnie tells her, starting to cry at the memory, and Abby starts weeping at the loss of her mother.

"Well she raised you right," Abby mutters, looking at her daughter. "I'm sure, she would've been proud of you...Well, now you know my whole story."

"Yep," She agrees reluctantly, feeling a little lost on the magic side of things.

"How's about you tell me yours? What brings you to me?" The older Bennett woman asks her.

"It was a dream, actually. I thought you were supposed to help us," The inexperienced Witch explains. "But if you don't have any magic, it's…"

"Not spells, no. But... I'm not completely useless," Abby argues. "I mean, the earth still provides herbs and such. There might be something I can do."

"I don't think so," Bonnie retorts.

"Bonnie, please. Let me help you," she pleads while Elena and Alaric talk outside, standing in the barn.

"So, what did you think, we wouldn't find out?" Alaric asks her, looking disapprovingly at the teenager.

"Honestly, I didn't care," Elena replies shortly.

"This is exactly why we didn't want you in the loop, Elena," He argues.

"Yeah, because now you and Damon can't do whatever you want," She retorts, and Alaric glares at her.

"Damn it, Elena!" The Vampire Slayer snaps, and Jaime enters the barn, hearing the commotion inside.

"Hey! Everything all right out here?" Jaime asks, looking at them.

"Hey, Jamie, go back inside, okay?" Elena tells him. "Please, trust me, it's better off for you there."

"I don't think so," he argues, walking towards Alaric.

"I'd listen to her. Get back upstairs, man," Alaric retorts, glaring at the young man.

"I said, I don't think so," The young man repeats, but Alaric gets annoyed and takes out his gun, pointing it at Jamie.

"Go back upstairs, before I shoot you in the damn throat. Do you understand me?" He threatens the young man.

"I don't think you realised how bad you've gotten!" Elena snaps at her guardian.

"It's the way it has to be, Elena. We can't get that kid involved in this," The history teacher argues.

"Oh, yeah, right. Out-villain the villain. I get it," She growls, hating that new saying, and Jamie returns with a shotgun.

"You're not supposed to be here," Jamie snaps, pointing it at the pair of them.

"Jamie, what are you doing?" The Doppelganger asks, looking at him.

"What I was told. He's not supposed to be here," he replies, glaring at Alaric.

"Elena, he's compelled," Alaric states, and Jamie shoots Alaric in the leg, making him fall to the ground on his back. Bonnie hears the gunshot from outside and becomes alert and worried for her best friend.

"What was that?" Bonnie asks, shooting up to her feet and going to the door. Abby pours some herbs into her hands, rubbing them together, and then goes up to Bonnie from behind. She places her herb-covered hand over Bonnie's mouth, who inhales the strange herbs, making her sink to the floor unconscious.

Caroline comes home from the Mystic Grill, glad she spent time with the young Pack members. "Mum, you home?" She calls out, but no one answers, though she can hear a heartbeat coming from inside.

"Hi, Caroline," Bill says, making the blond Vampire look at him in surprise.

"Daddy?" Caroline gasps happily.

"Happy birthday, sweetheart," He smiles.

"I didn't think I would see you again," She retorts, though she is happy to see him again.

"I know. I'm sorry, sweetheart. How about we get something to eat," Mr Forbes suggests, and Caroline doesn't even think about her stomach, just wanting to spend time with her dad.

"Sure," The blond Vampire beams, and the duo head back to the Mystic Grill, but they don't get very far as a car speeds down the road, almost clipping Bill. Caroline pulls him back in time, but it's too hard as he falls onto his back and hits his head on the curb. "Dad!" She shouts, smelling blood. Caroline kneels beside him as he tries to get up, but she stops him as she sees a small drop of blood on the pavement. "I think you hit your head." She states in a panic. Bill groans, holding the back of his head and pulls his hand away to reveal it's covered in blood.

At Abby's house, Jamie ties Elena's hands behind her back to a post in the barn while Alaric lies on the ground with buckshot in his leg, groaning in pain. "Why are you doing this?" Elena asks him.

"Stop moving," Jamie orders her.

"Jamie, let me go. Jamie, he needs help!" She argues, looking at Alaric as he loses blood.

"Jamie!" Abby shouts as she carries an unconscious Bonnie toward a car.

"Bonnie?" The Doppelganger gasps, spotting Abby across the grounds. "Bonnie!" Jamie runs to Abby while holding the shotgun and helps her load Bonnie into the car's back seat.

Lorilei and the McKnight twins arrive at the house to see Jenna waiting for them, but Jeremy is nowhere in sight. "Where's Jeremy?" Alexis asks, looking around for her boyfriend.

"He's upstairs. He's packing an overnight bag," Jenna explains, smiling. "Thank you for this, Lorilei."

"That's okay. I don't mind," Lorilei replies, stepping inside. "Remember, you're staying at the mansion, so pack what you can't live without. Leave the furniture unless it's important. We can decorate your room later." She looks at the twins, who nod before heading upstairs to their rooms.

On the road, it's nighttime now. Daniel leans against the side of his parked car just off the road when Abby pulls up behind him. "So?" He asks her.

"She didn't tell me where the coffins are. The Vampire Slayer showed up," Abby tells him.

"Did Jamie take care of him?" Daniel questions.

"He did," She confirms. "But she's not gonna talk now. There's no way. I tried." Bonnie opens the car door and gets out.

"Well, you should try again," he warns her. Abby looks back at her car and then walks over to her daughter.

"What did you do to me?" Bonnie demands, glaring at her mum.

"You'll be fine. But don't try any spells," Abby warns her. "Those herbs I used muted your magic." Bonnie looks around and sees they're in the middle of nowhere.

"Where's Elena?!" She shrieks.

"She'll be fine too. Bonnie, listen to me. I need your help. I need you to tell me where those coffins are," The older Bennett woman begs.

"Why?" The Bennett Witch asks, looking at her.

"Because if you don't, that man compelled Jamie to kill himself," Abby informs her, gesturing behind her to Daniel.

"I can't. This goes beyond you and me," Bonnie argues, and Abby sneakily takes her phone out and holds it low so Daniel can't see, or so she thinks. She starts typing a message.

"All you need to do is tell me where they are," She argues. "Then we'll have held up our end of the bargain. Bonnie, please." She hands her daughter the phone, showing her the message 'Warn your friends'.

Jamie walks to the bar away from Alaric and Elena. As the Doppelganger moves her hands up and down, the rope tying her hands rubs on the post, trying to untie it. Alaric lies on the ground, unable to move because of his leg. "I've almost got it," Elena mutters, trying to cut the rope with a nail sticking out of the post.

"Abby hasn't called yet," Jamie tells them nervously.

"Jamie, please, just let us go," She pleads, and Jamie suddenly cocks his gun.

"No! Please don't do anything," He warns her. "Look, I don't know why I shot him, I don't know why I'm holding this gun, but if you move or do anything, I'm a shoot him again."

"Okay, I won't. Who gave you that gun?" The Doppelganger asks him.

"A man came by earlier today, he gave me a wooden buckshot and told me if anyone got in our way, I'm supposed to shoot him." The young man explains.

"What else did he say?" Elena asks him.

"If Abby didn't find the location of some coffins, I'm supposed to shoot myself." Jamie tells her.

"What about me? What did he say about me?" She questions.

"I'm not supposed to hurt you," he replies.

"Are you sure? Because these ropes are so tight that it is hurting me," The Doppelganger lies, and Jamie walks towards her, concerned. She suddenly releases herself, grabs the gun from Jamie and knocks him out with the butt of the weapon. Elena rushes to Alaric, and the young man is unconscious after checking. "What can I do to help?"

"I need you to find something to put pressure on it after you take out the buckshot that's piercing my leg." Alaric explains, groaning in pain as she nods and begins taking out the small wooden pieces.

Damon quickly enters the basement of the old Witches' house to see the candles lit everywhere and the coffins invisible. He stops, hears footsteps behind him, and sees Klaus stroll in behind him. "What took you so long? Hiding behind your Witchy friends. And in squalor, no less," Klaus taunts him. Suddenly, the candles burn brighter, but nothing happens, making Damon nervous. "Was that supposed to do something?" He muses, looking around. "I suppose it helps when you know a powerful Witch." She smirks at Damon. "Now, you know, the funny thing about Witches is that living or dead, they care about their own. Most of the time. A hundred dead Witches have a thousand living descendants…" He threatens them, and the flames grow more prominent. Klaus glares, feeling a prickling feeling inside his head. "And I have no problem killing every last one of them if I don't get my coffins back. As we speak, my Hybrid friend is prepared to end the Bennett line," He addresses the room, and the candles die down completely suddenly, and Klaus smiles, seeing that he's won. "Now…please…show me the coffins." The dead Witches reveal the coffins inside the basement, but something's wrong. "Here we are," He frowns, only counting three, and Klaus looks at Damon. "Where's the fourth?" He grows angry and scared. "Show me!" He shouts at the dead Witches.

"Well, here's the thing. They can't. It's not here," Damon reveals, smirking to himself.

"What did you do?" The Original Hybrid demands, glaring at him.

"Well, Bonnie gave me the heads-up," He informs Klaus. "I didn't have enough time to get all four, but I did have time to get one."

"I will tear you, limb from limb. And only then, when you're a riving mass of blood and flesh, will I rip your heart from your chest." Klaus threatens him.

"Sorry. The same rules apply. You know, leverage and all," The cocky Vampire retorts. "I know you want your family back. But something tells me, you want what's in that coffin a lot more."

"You've been warned, Damon," Klaus sneers. Damon looks at him, not realising that Klaus' Hybrids are on the move.

Lorilei arrives at the Original Mansion with Jeremy, Alexis and Edward. The three teens are super excited as they look at the massive house. "There are some ground rules," Lorilei warns them. "You will respect everyone. Same as at the Den. You must not get involved with the Doppelganger business. Are we understood?" She looks at them, and the teens all grumble in agreement. "Good. Go find your rooms. They're marked out." She opens the door, and the teens clamber out quickly, grabbing their things from the boot before racing into the mansion. Lorilei heads inside, hers and Klaus' things already having been dropped off, though she hasn't seen inside in a while, being busy with everything. Lorilei can hear the teens gasping as they look around, exploring everything. "Sort out your things first!" She shouts through the large foyer. Jeremy races past her and upstairs with his bag in hand.

"Whoa!" She hears seconds later coming from Jeremy. "My room is huge!" She hears him running around as she heads upstairs, needing to get some sleep.

"Can you make us breakfast tomorrow?" Edward asks, coming out of the kitchen.

"If you get up in time, sure," Lorilei agrees, moving down the hallway.

"That's never going to happen," Alexis laughs, runs past her big sister, and soon finds her room. "Sweet!"

"Awesome!" Edward shouts, slamming his door open and running inside. Lorilei laughs as she goes further down and soon comes across her and Klaus' room. She heads inside, heading into the ensuite, needing a shower before bed.

Elena pulls the wooden pieces out from Alaric's chest at the barn at Abby's house, but he keeps screaming, making her cringe and stop. "I'm just trying to help!" Elena snaps at him, not liking him screaming all the time.

"Just get it out, Elena, please. Just get it out," Alaric begs her, wishing he had some bourbon to help ease the pain.

"Keep screaming, maybe I'll feel sorry for you," She snaps, trying again and finally getting it out, and Alaric stops crying out in pain as she places a towel around his leg.

"You've changed. Something is different about you. You're stronger. Tougher," He remarks, looking at her.

"You're not the only one who changed, Ric. We all had to," The Doppelganger argues.

"It's good though," The Vampire Slayer replies, looking at her.

"There's something I have to tell you. And it's not because I feel guilty that it happened. It's because I feel guilty that you don't know," Elena tells him and presses on the wound, making him hiss. "I kissed Damon." Alaric sighs, rubbing his eyes, not looking at Elena, who feels terrible about what she did. She gets out her phone and needs to call the very Vampire for help with the injured history teacher.

Bonnie waits on the side of the road, waiting for Elena as she talks with her mum after Daniel leaves, and he even leaves behind a vial of blood for Alaric's injury. "Elena is on her way with Alaric. Jamie's safe. He's a little bruised, but he's safe," Bonnie informs Abby.

"You think the Hybrid will come back?" Abby asks nervously, not wanting anything else to happen.

"You kept your end of the bargain, Klaus usually keeps his," she assures her mum. "You're willing to do all this for him...and he's not even your family."

"He is my family, Bonnie," the older Bennett woman argues. "I know that might be hard for you to hear, but he is. But that doesn't mean that I don't care about you. I wanna help you."

"You can't. You've no magic and I don't trust you," The inexperienced Witch snaps.

"When I put Mikael down...my magic didn't just leave me. It drifted away," Abby explains. "The longer I stayed away from you the weaker it got. I think that nature was punishing me for abandoning you. Maybe you can help me get my magic back."

"I thought you said you didn't want it any more?" Bonnie asks her.

"I don't. But if it's what you wanted...I would do that for you," she tells her, wanting to try with her daughter.

Alaric comes back after Elena drops him off at his apartment; he's not happy about having that Hybrid's blood and needs to lift some weights to calm down and vent as he lies on the incline bench when Damon enters the apartment, spotting him. "What are you doing here?" Alaric asks, already annoyed at him.

"Ehm...Looking for a bunny. You're good. For now," Damon retorts.

"Are you still obsessed with Meredith?" He asks, growing bored of his obsession with Dr Fell, and he puts the barbell back on the rack and sits up. "I mean, don't you have an Original Vampire to care about?"

"Uh ah ah! Do ten more of those. You're gonna wanna buff up, if you start dating this one. Self-defence and all," The older Salvatore warns him and pours himself a drink.

"What's your problem?" The history teacher wonders, watching him.

"Your Doctor vervained me and then she bloodjacked me," Damon informs him.

"What? I mean, when did you even see her?" Alaric asks, frowning.

"When I went to the hospital, to accuse her of killing her ex-boyfriend. Which, by the way, very sensitive subject," he explains.

"Damon, what the hell are you doing?" The Vampire Slayer questions, getting annoyed at him even more.

"Why are you mad at me?" The cocky Vampire gasps offended.

"I told you I'd handle this!" Alaric snaps at him.

"I proved your theory...diagnosed psycho case. You're welcome," Damon retorts. "Oh. I was only able to get one of them out in time. The locked one."

"Probably a good choice," He grumbles, growing tired. "Yeah. You know, if you're banking on Bonnie's momma to open it, you're screwed," The Vampire Slayer warns him. "She doesn't have any powers."

"Nah, doesn't surprise me. It's been that kind of night," The sassy Vampire groans. "Is Elena okay?" Alaric gets up and punches Damon in the face, not wanting him near Elena. "I take it you two had a heart-to-heart. And I take it, you don't wanna talk about it. Noted. So why don't we talk about this?" Damon takes out a silver dagger that they're both familiar with.

"What did you do?" Alaric asks him, looking at it. "I need to go."

Alaric goes to the hospital, needing to talk with Meredith, and spots her coming out of a room. "Want to tell me what you're up to?" Alaric asks her, walking alongside her.

"You talked to Damon," Meredith groans.

"Yeah, I did," He replies.

"He wasn't supposed to wake up so soon," She grumbles. "I used enough vervain, to sedate him for hours."

"Well, he drinks it every day to build up an immunity, so people like you don't get the jump on him." The history teacher informs her.

"I'm not crazy, Ric," Dr Fell tells him.

"Really? Then what are you?" Alaric asks him, and paramedics bring in a patient on a stretcher.

"You really wanna know? Stick around," Meredith replies, and Alaric looks at the patient's face and sees a familiar face.

"Is that Bill Forbes?" He questions, following them as Caroline races past him in a panic.

Meredith and Alaric stand in front of Bill's bed, the man unconscious from a sedative for his scans. "What happened to him?" Alaric asks, looking at the man.

"His daughter said she pulled him away from the road, and he fell, hitting his head on the pavement. He hit it hard enough to rupture an aneurysm," Meredith explains.

"Is he gonna make it?" He asks, worried.

"Nope. At least not on his own," She replies, pulling out the vial of Damon's blood and drawing some into a syringe.

"What is that?" The Vampire Slayer asks, looking at the red liquid.

"Exactly what you think it is. Vampire blood," Dr Fell retorts, administering it to Bill. "You wanna to know my secret? I cheat. I'm a Doctor and I hate when people die. So when I have the ability to do something about it. I do." Alaric looks at Meredith with some respect for what she does, though he is a little sceptical.

Tyler enters Bill's room, having heard what happened, and sees Bill awake, lying in his bed. "You're looking better," Tyler remarks, making the man look at her.

"Yeah. I shouldn't be but I didn't have any say in the matter," Bill replies bitterly.

"I'm sorry to hear about what happened," He remarks.

"That's okay. Things happen. I'm just lucky I didn't get hit by the car Caroline saved me from," the older man retorts.

"I'm glad to hear it, and I'm glad Caroline got to see you again," the young Hybrid says.

"I heard you broke up with my daughter," Bill states, making Tyler nervous.

"I did. It just didn't seem fair on either of us with everything happening around us," Tyler explains. "I did it for Caroline."

"I can tell," He muses. "Just make sure my daughter is okay. She seems okay now, but we both know how Caroline likes to hide her true feelings."

"I will. Care's my friend first, I promise, I'll look after her," The Hybrid assures him.

"Good. So, tell me, would you want to get rid of this Sire bond?" Mr Forbes asks him, and Tyler thinks about it.

"I don't think it's a problem anymore," Tyler retorts, surprising Bill.

Alaric later takes Meredith to the Gilbert house, where he shows her his Vampire-Slaying weapons. "You told me your secret. This is mine," he tells her.

"You're a Vampire Hunter," Meredith gasps, looking at them.

"Semi-retired," Alaric argues lightly.

"You're trying to get out of taking me to dinner, aren't you?" She jokes.

"I just want to be honest. No secrets," He replies honestly.

"Okay. Then tell me how you survived getting hit by a truck," Dr Fell retorts, looking at him. "Your injuries were fatal. Was it Vampire blood?"

"That and...this ring protects me from death at the hands of supernatural beings," The Vampire Slayer explains, showing her the gaudy ring.

"A Vampire Hunter, who can't be killed by Vampires. Convenient!" Meredith muses, starting to slide the ring off his finger, but Alaric stops her. "Are you worried I'm a supernatural being?"

"One can never be too careful," Alaric smirks, moving close to her face, and they kiss when Elena enters the house, coming home from Bonnie's place.

"Oh. Umm, hey, umm, sorry," Elena apologises, covering his eyes.

"I'm gonna go," Meredith mutters, embarrassed a little at being caught.

"Okay, yeah, sure, sure, sure," Alaric mutters, nodding, and Meredith leaves quickly. "Elena, I'm sorry."

"Please, it's okay," Elena assures him.

"It's not okay. I mean, it's not even my place. It's your place. It's Jenna's place. It's your family's place," he argues.

"The minute that you slept on that couch it became your place, too," she reassures him. "I needed you and...you stayed. So thank you for that. Hey, look, I know it's hard. But Jenna and Jeremy have left. And you're allowed to move on."

Meanwhile, at the Original Family Mansion, Daniel finishes placing the coffins in the side room as Klaus stands beside him, glancing at the coffins. "You've got your family back. Finally," Daniel remarks. "You're gonna open them?"

"Not quite yet. I still have some unfinished business to take care of," Klaus replies darkly.

"What business?" He asks his Alpha, and suddenly, Daniel squirms before falling to the floor, dead with Elijah standing behind him with the Hybrid's heart in his hand. Klaus looks at his older brother in shock and fear of what to do.

"So, Niklaus…" Elijah greets him, glaring at his younger brother.

"Elijah!" The Original Hybrid exclaims.

"What did I miss?" He asks.
