CHAPTER 33

Back at the Laguz Alliance camp, Soren arrived late. Skrimir did beg to have Soren sit next to him, but Soren chose to be with Ike instead. "Idiot." said Skrimir. Titania did owe Skrimir great apologies, stating that Soren wasn't that good around strangers.

"Then I should jump to conclusions." Skrimir said. "We did win that last battle thanks to his cleverness!"

"Soren's pretty clever, Skrimir." said Samantha. "My brother on the other hand…Hey! Where'd he go?!" Samantha later left the tent.

"Go on, Skrimir." Tibarn said.

"Well, I do have to say that we hit Begnion hard in the last battle like hard chariots." Skrimir stated. "So what can we use this time to wipe out the enemy entirely?"

"At this time, it would not be smart to spark a new offensive." Soren stated. "I would say that we settle a peace treaty with the empire." Soren said.

"You'd give up one of our best chances to smash Begnion for a stupid peace treaty?!" asked Skrimir in thrashing exclamation.

"Just think for right now, Skrimir." Soren said. "Listen to what I have to say."

"OK. I'll play along." Skrimir said.

"Despite the fact that we crossed the river, we've yet to lay a single scratch on the actual Central Army itself." Soren said.

"I see." said Skrimir.

"He does have a point." Kamaria said.

"Consequently, the Begnion Empire has an advantage up their sleeve." said Soren. "What would be a foolish idea is pressing the attack on the army itself."

"OK, now I'm asking him to think harder." Skrimir said to Kamaria.

"What do you mean?" asked Kamaria.

"A peace treaty?" asked Skrimir. "Now?!" he asked in exclamation.

"What's wrong with that?" Ike asked.

"My soldiers will not accept a damn peace treaty!" Skrimir later yelled as he banged his fist on the table. "We need a different way."

"I'm just wondering something." Ike said. "Does Ranulf feel the same way?"

"Ike, it's not about how I feel." Ranulf said. "It's about the laguz overall as a species in Tellius." Ranulf proclaimed.

"What's he talking about?" asked Kito as he entered the room with Samantha and Ross.

"I was about to say to Ike that once the fighting starts, all the laguz can get their sights on is the enemy that's right in front of that laguz changeling." Ranulf said.

"And what about in long fights?" asked Kamaria.

"It's harder to keep in check." Ranulf answered.

"Right, right…" said Ranulf.

"That's the exact same for the hawk tribe." Tibarn answered. "I would have to knock out my own men unconscious if the fighting were to stop now."

"He has a point." Ike said. "Ranulf included."

"I just want Soren to think of something." said Ranulf. "I mean, he is one of the best strategists." Ranulf stated. "Soren."

"Yes, Ranulf, thank you." Soren said. "Everyone, gather around the map. I think I've got a solution." he ordered.

Everyone later gathered around the map on the table. All except for Samantha, Ross, and Kito.

"Are you three getting involved, or not?" asked Soren to Kito, Ross, and Samantha.

"No." all three of them said.

"We're leaving." said Samantha. "Tell us later."

All three of them made an exit from the tent.

It took a long time for the plan to be explained. However, it was taking place at Soze Pass in Begnion. There, Tibarn's decoy attack got the Begnion troops to move out, according to what Lethe's sister Lyre said to Ranulf.

"Great." Ranulf answered. "My unit will hit from the north, Ike will hit from the south, and Skrimir will hit from the west." said Ranulf. "And if everything goes well, as planned, Soren's plan gets another victory." Ranulf stated.

"General Ranulf!" yelled the tiger Kyza who was with Luganda and Daelyn.

"What is it?" asked Ranulf. "What happened?"

"It's Skrimir's forces." said Luganda. "They appear to be charging down the cliff." she said.

"What?!" asked Ranulf in exclamation.

"You told him to keep his men under control at all costs." Daelyn said.

"I know, Daelyn." said Ranulf to Daelyn. "I know."

"Worst comes to worst, an enemy general challenged Skrimir, and what do you know, he accepted." said Kyza.

"Yup. Always an impatient one." said Daelyn.
"Who was this…enemy general?" asked Ranulf.

"Someone with crimson red armor and raven-colored hair." said Kyza.

"Zelgius?!" asked Ranulf in exclamation.

"That his name? His name's Zelgius?" asked Daelyn.

"Yes, that's his name." said Ranulf. "Plus, Skrimir can't win."

"Why?" asked Luganda.

"He will get slaughtered!" yelled Ranulf. "Skrimir! Wait! Ranulf's coming!" he said as he ran off as he shifted into his cat form.

"...Come on!" yelled Kyza.
