"Do you have the type of tent that you have to put in the ground or the one where you hit a button and it just opens up?"

Jefferson was watching the block from his cruiser and decided to call V while it was slow.

"I don't understand the question."

"What type of camping are we doing? That's what I'm asking."

V rubbed his eyebrows, glancing at the watch on his phone's screen. 11:42pm, "Did you look at the videos I sent you?"

"Yeah, of the young woman and the couple going camping. I don't think I want to sleep on the ground unless it's going to be some smooth ground. Y'know, old man's back," he joked, "I was thinking more camping like the couple."

"So…glamping…"

"That sounds so unmanly," he chuckled, "I like the idea of furnished camping, but is it even camping at that point?"

"Are you in nature?"

"Not completely. I feel like you should be in it more. But I also like the idea of an actual mattress," the officer rubbed the nape of his neck.

"Ok, so, what you're saying is that you want to camp, without being in a tent. So do you want to be in a cabin?"

"We don't have to have a cabin. A tent is fine."

"Look here, homie," Virgil set his tablet aside, "If you want a cabin, say it. Because if you allude to wanting to camp in a tent and you complain, I will kick your a double money sign in front of your son."

"I'm not opposed."

V rolled his eyes, opening up a tab on his phone, "Ok, I'm booking a cabin now. Did you at least get my message on everything you and Sunshine need?"

"He's had his bag packed for the last week. I'm just going to go through it, after Rio has gone through it for the fifth time, then I'll pack mine for her to scrutinize."

"Sweet. Make your way to my house Thursday. We'll be leaving before the sun so we can get there at the butt crack of dawn."

"Got it. Thanks again."

"Welcome."

Miles jumped on Miguel's bed, "Camping tomorrow, camping tomorrow!"

Mig watched him bounce about, "Yea, I can't wait. Pops is going to take us fishing."

He smiled wide, still jumping excitedly.

"Hey now!" Jeff scolded from the doorway, "When do you jump on beds?"

"Sorry dad, I'm just super hyped!" he hopped down, "Think we'll see some bears? Or wolves?"

"I think you need to go to bed. Virgil already said we're leaving really early so you need to use the pot and come get ready for bed."

"I already went. And I brushed my teeth. But it's still early! This is GG's bedtime," he grabbed one of Miguel's toys, a lion, and threw it at Jason like a football "Can we at least watch a movie or something?"

"I want to watch a movie," Jason agreed, tossing the toy back, "Lets watch Ferngully!"

Jeff started to say something when the toddler screamed, running into his leg as he escaped mommy's attempts to get him dressed for bed.

"No bed! Pops help!" he clung to the man.

"That's not Pops, little boy, that's Jeff," Jess hurried after the little monster with a towel, "Shouldn't you guys should get some sleep?"

"Jessie!" Red Hood called, "Can we watch Ferngully? Please?"

"Uh, sure," she shrugged, figuring they would sleep in the car anyway, "You guys can go watch in the front room. And when it's over you better be in bed. Do not, Jason," she made sure to make eye contact with him, "Make me have to come get you."

He agreed, grabbing his bear and Miguel's arm, "Have you ever seen that movie? It's probably way before your time," he grinned at Miles, teasing him.

"Never even heard of it," the youngest ran after them as his dad handed Gunner to his mom with a sigh.

"Hey, it's time to get ready," Virgil shook his friend's shoulder.

Jeff grunted, sitting up and looking around the dark room, "What time is it?" He felt along the bed for his son.

"They fell asleep in the front room. It's 2 something. We're leaving in thirty," he walked out, leaving the door ajar.

The man watched him go, flopping against his pillow before forcing himself out of bed to find his kid.

"When you said early," Jeff fastened his son in the seat, "I thought you meant like 5am."

"Do you know when people fish?" Virgil covered a yawn, making sure everyone was fastened in, "You might as well sit with him, that way you can sleep while I drive."

"Say less," he buckled himself up, getting comfortable, "Try to keep the ride smooth, Jeebs."

"You got it, Ms. Daisy."

Jeff flinched, feeling a shaking on his arm.

"We're here," Miguel shook him, "It's time to get out," he stood, bending down as he climbed out, going to help take the stuff inside.

Jeff stretched out, glancing over to see his son rubbing the tiredness out of his eyes.

"We're here?" Miles mumbled, glancing out the window.

"Yep, let's go check out our lodgings."

The teen looked about the wooded area. The sun was barely cresting the horizon. His dad joined him in scanning the area. Neither of them could fully take it in due to it still being dark, but the air was so crisp.

They made their way in the cabin. At least they could see that.

"Morning," Robert waved to the two, "Going finishing in your pajamas?"

"Hi Pops," Miles waved, giving the man a quick hug before running around to find his room, "Oh! Bunk beds, I call the top!"

"Too late. I already called it," Jason tossed his stuff up.

"No fair, you can't call dibs before all are present!"

"You can have the ceiling, arachnid kid," he pulled himself to the top.

Mig took the ball, throwing it at Jason, "Move your stuff over, loser," he grabbed Miles, lifting him up, "It's two top bunks. Ignore him."

J threw the ball back at him, "Takes one to know one."

Mig stuck his tongue out at him, before pulling his outside clothes on, "Ok, I'm going to go hang out with pops."

"Wait!" The youngest complained, dumping his clothes out, "I want to fish too!"

"Then hurry up," Jason hopped down, rushing out.

Robert sighed contently in his chair. He'd do the boat on the lake tomorrow. For right now he would just enjoy the quiet.

Jeff joined the man, the morning mist giving the dock a creepy vibe, but still pretty relaxing.

"Do not electrocute the fish," Robert commented, his eyes closed.

Virgil slowly took his hand away from his father's fishing rod, "I just thought I would speed the process up and get right to the frying part."

"Fishing is about patience. Something you need a lot of when raising children," his father told him, sipping his drink.

"Mm hmm," Jeff nodded as Virgil huffed.

"Do not, Virgil," Robert warned again, knowing his son was thinking about sending a shock through the rod.

"Yes sir," V pouted.

At least the kids seemed to be having fun. Kinda. Miguel was trying, but he wasn't enjoying it too much. He enjoyed the company. Jason was not a patient person and was contemplating jumping in the lake and swimming to the fish himself. Miles and Jeff were enjoying themselves though.

"You cannot shoot the fish either," Robert commented, well aware of Jason and his antics.

Red hood sulked, "Can we go explore the forest or something?"

"By 'we' I assume you mean you and Bubs?" Virgil starred as his line in the water, "That's fine. Try not to do anything dumb, it's day one and I am not taking you to the hospital."

"I'll try," J quickly pulled the line in and went to put it inside, "Come on, Migs."

"I'm trying to fish," Miguel mumbled.

"You can go play with your friend," Robert encouraged, "We're here all weekend, we'll fish again tomorrow."

Mig sulked, leaning against his grandfather before standing, "Ok."
