"We were born witches. That makes us innately magical. Maybe you can just teach us how to tap into it." Prue suggested.

"Or do what Xander does and draw energy from the world around us." Cordelia suggested. "Like the dark practitioner, use the power of All Hallow's Eve."

"There's not enough time." Eva protested.

"We're quick studies." Phoebe assured her. "We're not ready to give up. We know a lot of spells and some of them Xander taught us, like protection spells and glamours."

"I'm seeing the beginning of a plan." Piper said. "If we can tap into the power, we can glamour ourselves. Those witch hunters know what we look like, we change our appearance and we can walk right passed them. Protection spells could keep us safe from the talismans."

"It's a start." Prue agreed. "We just have to figure out how to tap into a power outside ourselves."

As the sisters begin to work out a plan, back at Ruth's house she was laying out tarot cards on a table in the room she was keeping Charlotte prisoner in. Behind her Charlotte groaned in pain as her labor progressed.

"Her contractions are coming closer together." Ruth observed as she read the tarot cards. Cole soaked a cloth is a bowl of water and approached Charlotte. "It won't be long now."

"Don't touch me." Charlotte growled, there was still fight in her.

"There's no need for you to be in anymore discomfort than you have to be." Cole thought he sounded reasonable.

"Really? Then let me go. I beg you."

"Even if I could, it wouldn't help. Another would be sent to take you right back." He heard Ruth gasped and glanced at her. "What? What do you see?"

"A force of great good, from your time. Here, for the baby as well."

"Three of them. I'm not surprised, my traveling here undoubtedly alerted the other side."

"Four and another force following."

Cole frowned, the Grimlocks had said another witch had helped vanquish them, was that the fourth witch? And what force was following them?

"But this new force..." Ruth tried to protest.

"If it's who I think it is, I can handle them. You just make sure she stays here through midnight." He thought he could handle the Charmed Ones.

Back at the cave Eva handed each of the girls a figure shaped from wheat.

"Here."

"Dolls? We tap into our powers with dolls?" Piper thought it was a joke.

"It's not just a doll, it's a totem. Reminds us of the wisdom and the power of women." Eva answered.

"Okay, but what does it have to do with..." Phoebe started to ask.

"The witch's journey is a walk of wisdom collected over the years, Phoebe." Eva cut an apple in half. "Wisdom gives us power. Power frightens the fearful and the ignorant."

"Symbolism." Cordelia examined the doll in her hands. "Xander is always saying Magic is full of symbolism. One thing represents another, which gives it meaning."

"Exactly." Eva nodded. "Your husband has learned much."

"When it's a subject that interests him, you bet he can."

"Well, that would certainly explain why in our time witches are made to look silly on Halloween." Piper. muttered.

"And this Magic, this knowledge is forgotten?" Eva was astonished to hear that, covens were supposed to preserve knowledge and teach, how could it have been lost? "Here." She picked up a witch's hat. "The conical hat is a spiritual point." She placed it on Phoebe's head. "It helps us to channel our magic. Keeps us centered, focused. The apple holds a pentacle in its heart." She held up half an apple, showing them what she meant "Add a laurel leaf and you will block the path of evil."

"A simple laurel leaf?" Prue asked.

"Simple, but powerful." Eva answered. "Remember, there is magic all around you, especially on this night."

"Uh, what's with the masks?" Phoebe asked

"Demons walk freely on All Hallows Eve, so a mask allows you to hide your identity." She handed a mask to her. "Walk amongst them."

"We've been taught demons don't bother with Halloween." Cordelia remembered Giles' insistance on that point. And yet Ethan Rayne had worked his Magic on Halloween night and vampires had been out and just before they'd been pulled here, Grimlocks had attacked.

"Can I see that?" Phoebe asked a woman holding a broom. "Okay, now don't tell me we ride around on this thing." She asked Eva.

"Anything is possible." Eva assured her. "The broom's traditional purpose is to sweep evil from your path. Sweep east to west." Phoebe tried sweeping east to west. "Same path as the sun travels. Like anything else in magic, it's how you do it, with knowledge and reverence."

"Wow, do I feel silly." Phoebe mumbled, then giggled. A shock from the wooden broom handle made her jump. "Ah!"

"What happened?" Piper asked

"Nothing. Must have been just a spark."

"From a wooden broom handle?" Cordelia said sarcastically.

"No, you felt the power." Eva smiled at them, they were on their way. Maybe they could save Charlotte and her baby after all. "Alright, Sally will go with you to Ruth's house. She'll give you the last few things you'll need. Blessed be."

"Draw on the power of this day." Prue held out her handi and her sisters joined her in a circle and reached for the power, reciting a protection spell and a glamour spell. She felt the energy move through her and knew it had worked. "It's time."

Four blond women followed Sally out of the cave, hopeful that this time they'd get it right
