It was the night after the dance ended. Eventually things died down and Ruby somehow got in trouble doing some nonsense. Weiss was sure she would hear more about it tomorrow. For now she was tired and had a bit on her mind.

Yang and Blake went to wait for Ruby at the Headmaster's office. But Weiss just wanted to relax so she said her goodbyes to Neptune then went ahead to their dorm room ahead of them all. She closed the door and took a deep breath, leaning against it.

All things considered, she couldn't really call the dance unsuccessful. She could see people enjoying themselves more than at any Atleasean ball where they're all uptight and scheming with one another. Neptune even sat with her for the final portion of it... They didn't actually dance but... It was something.

Team JNPR really did steal the show at the end though. She could imagine Pyrrha and Ren possibly knew the motions to certain dances but Nora and Jaune really surprised her there. Albeit... His attire wasn't exactly the standard...

When Jaune in that dress popped into her head, her thoughts drifted to what Neptune said to her. He alluded to the fact that Jaune of all people was even the reason he was sitting with her. But why? Why would that guy do such a thing?

She sighed and lifted off the door, to begin changing out of her dress. But the thoughts wouldn't stop flooding through her mind.

He obviously didn't gain anything by getting Neptune to spend time with her. In fact, he only lost. Her mind drifted to remember the various and pathetic attempts he made to obtain her. Does he not understand the simple fact that doing such a thing lowered his chances with her? Well, not that he had any.

As Weiss slid on her nightgown a simple word popped into her head. "Selfless."

She froze and her eyes narrowed. Did she just consider Jaune, the most irritating blemish on her Beacon life to actually have a redeeming quality? To think he had such a good one as well. In fact, did he ever even care about her money and status? He didn't know who Pyrrha Nikos was until he met her, and even then had to have it explained to him.

These were dangerous thoughts. She knew he was an idiot, but the idea that his feelings for her might actually be genuine was beginning to prod at her conscious.

"No, no. That's... That's absurd. He obviously targeted me from the start. Randomly, at tha-"

That thought process abruptly halted as another memory entered her mind. One when she was speaking to Ruby in the library the night before initiation. It was the first time she met Yang as well.

"We can talk about boys like tall, blonde, and scraggly over there."

Her eyes widened. Okay so... Maybe he wasn't the one who initiated an interaction between them. But she was obviously being...

She internally sighed as she was being rather sarcastic and rude back then. Not one of her finer moments. Though at the time she didn't even recognize it as such. All that being said, she didn't understand why he would jump to having feelings for her after she insulted him.

"It's because he's an idiot."

His feelings can be as genuine as possible and that fact wouldn't change.

Though it seems her heart has already accepted the fact that Jaune's intentions towards her were more pure than she wanted to admit. Mostly because as she thought about it, she felt a weight over her chest grow heavier with each second.

"And that's why we call you the Ice Queen~"

It was a line from Yang back when Jaune asked her to the dance. He played some ridiculous musical number like, again, an idiot. Then she slammed the door in his face after refusing. Moments afterwards she went on and on about how men only have nefarious intentions when it comes to gaining her hand and affection.

She sighed and slumped down on her bed. This wouldn't do. People can call her cold and such all they want, but this was one of those times she actually felt that way. It reminded her of when their Team was first put together and she was giving Ruby a difficult time. It was only a few months ago but she made up her mind about Ruby before even giving her a chance.

Without realizing it she did the same thing to Jaune. Granted, his efforts were the pinnacle of stupidity and certainly didn't earn him any points. But that didn't make him or his intentions 'bad'.

What was she to do here? With Ruby she had to suck up her pride. It bugged her at the time but the solution itself was easy to think up of. Eventually they worked everything out as well.

But for Jaune things were different. Should she just deal with him continuously ask her out? That didn't seem to be the right answer. Was she to accept his advances...? That seemed... Well, she has mixed feelings about doing that. Regardless if his intentions, the\ way he was going about it was just too much. She didn't want to condone such a thing. Plus even if she accepted that his feelings were genuine, what were hers towards him?

Did she just suddenly 'like' him now? She doesn't feel the same way towards him that she does towards Neptune though.

That got her thinking about if she even 'likes' Neptune.

"What does it mean to 'like' someone in that way?" She thought. This had never been an issue in the past.

In fact does Neptune even have feelings for her? The only reason he sat with her in the first place is due to Jaune's involvement, with whatever he did. Did he guilt him into it? Weiss didn't like that and felt her heart sink at the thought.

She didn't want to be pitied.

With that thought she wondered how Jaune would feel if she just accepted one of his attempts out of pity or repayment. Would he be okay with that? She wasn't sure how a man would feel about it, perhaps the same way she would?

Just what was she to do? Her own emotions were complicated enough, now she has to worry about others? It felt like there was no answer.

Just then the door opened and Yang walked in. Weiss lifted her head up. "Oh, you're back."

Yang stretched. "Yep. Apparently Ruby got into some fight with someone? I'unno the specifics, we'll probably talk about it later."

She then closed the door and Weiss raised an eyebrow. "Well where's Ruby and Blake then?"

Yang walked over to her bed and started to go through her drawers. "Bathroom. They'll probably be back in a few."

Weiss narrowed her eyes "I see..."

After a couple moments, Yang pulled her own pajamas out and began changing right there. Weiss rolled her eyes and turned away. She was never used to changing around others, always opted to use the bathroom. However the others didn't seem to have that issue. Apparently public combat school had them change around other women as well.

Ignoring that... Perhaps Yang would have some insight on her 'Jaune' issue? Weiss quickly realized during her time here at Beacon that the real world was nothing like Atleasean high society. A... Commoners outlook might not be so bad.

"Yang, can I ask you something?" Weiss said.

Yang finished putting on a yellow tank top and turned towards her. "Hm? Sure."

"If... Jaune was asking you out as much as he asks me out, what would you do?"

Yang looked surprised from the question for a moment but then smirked. "I'd clock 'em in the nose!" she answered and punched the air in front of herself.

Weiss' eyes widened. She... She didn't want to do that. Especially now that she began to see him in... Well, a better light to say the least. Though Yang then began to laugh and lowered he first.

"Hehe~ I'm joking! I wouldn't do that. You should see the look on your face." She said and Weiss relaxed then had an annoyed look.

"I'm trying to be serious here!"

Yang brought her hands up. "Okay, okay. Sorry. Uhm... Well..." Yang thought for a moment. "I guess... I wouldn't have let it get this far." She answered more seriously.

Weiss looked confused now. "How do you mean?"

Yang sighed. "Well... I either would have went out with him or turned him down."

Weiss didn't exactly know what to say to that. It was the obvious answer and she's turned him down plenty of times now yet he didn't get the message.

"I've turned him down plenty of times, Yang."

Yang clicked her tongue. "Nope."

"Huh?" Weiss looked flabbergasted. "What do you mean 'nope'?"

Yang shrugged. "I mean what I said. You never 'turned' him down Weiss, you 'shut' him down. There's a difference."

Weiss stared at Yang, thinking. Was there a difference? Back in Atlas the only way to stop men from pestering you was to be as abrupt as possible. It didn't help with her father trying to push successful suitors towards her. Telling them off was the only way to get it through their thick skulls. Was it different here?

Yang seemed to tell that she didn't fully understand and walked up and sat on their bed beside them. "Alright, I can see you're finally putting some thought into this."

Weiss looked at her, a bit annoyed with their use of the word 'finally' but let it slide considering they were helping.

Yang smiled. "Look, Weiss. I'unno what it was like in your super fancy mansion, but here in the real world guys are gonna ask you out. And when you ignore or toss them aside, rather than feeling rejected they're gonna feel like you didn't even listen to them in the first place. Then if they actually liked you... Well... They might keep trying."

Yang sounded a bit sad at the last part, likely knowing what she was implying.

Jaune's feeling for her were genuine. Denying that would be foolish on her part at this point.

Weiss slumped a bit and Yang patted her on the shoulder. "But, the fact that you're even asking me this tells me you figured some of this out already, huh."

Weiss silently nodded.

Yang then smiled. "Don't be so upset. Jaune's a good guy. If you sit down and just talk about it like normal people for five... Ten... Maybe twenty minutes tops, I'm sure the two of you will reach some sort of conclusion on all this."

Weiss didn't move, just staring down at the ground. "But... What if I hurt him?" The words came out before she could think what she was saying. "Hurt him?" She thought again. That was never a problem she had before. Further more wasn't she hurting him this entire time already?

That thought made her heart sink even further.

Yang sighed and lowered her hand. "Well... You don't get to choose who asks you out, Weiss. So when someone does you gotta give 'em an answer... Even when it's tough. 'Cause them telling you how they feel was certainly even tougher. Don't you think they deserve a genuine answer?"

Weiss took a quick breath at those final words. Yang was right. Every time Weiss just slammed the door in Jaune's face or told him off. She never just... Talked to him. Her fists clenched against her knees. She really was an Ice Queen, wasn't she?

Weiss took a breath. "What if... What if he doesn't like my answer? What if he doesn't accept it?" She asked and finally looked over at Yang.

She grinned. "Well ya' see,-" She punched her right fist into her left palm. "that's when you actually sock 'em in the nose!"

Weiss' eyes widened just like the first time. But unlike the first time, Yang was grinning confidently.

It seemed she was serious about it unlike before.

"But I wouldn't worry about that." Yang said and lowered her hands. "Like I said, Jaune's a good guy. Whatever happens, I'm sure he'll accept it."

Weiss relaxed and looked down. Jaune selflessly helped her be with another man. What amount of pain did he experience doing that? How would she feel if she set Neptune up with another Woman? She wasn't sure when she thought about it.

"He is a good man, isn't he?" Weiss smiled, thinking of Jaune.

A couple second passed and her eyes widened and a blush spread across her cheeks as her head snapped towards Yang. Their expression was that of surprise for a split second before turning into a slier look.

"Oho~ And here I felt bad I was helping you turn Jaune down. But it looks like you might have other plans~" She grinned.

Weiss opened her mouth to speak but only an embarrassed gasp came out. A second later she collected herself. "I- I don't know what you're talking about. Th- Thank you for your advice, Yang. That'll be all." She dismissed her.

"Yeah, yeah." Yang chuckled and stood up. "Good luck, Ice Queen."

Weiss turned away with a humph at the nick name. Ruby and Blake soon entered and the four of them spoke further about what Ruby got in trouble about.

This was a fun one to write. I actually think I might continue it, but I'm unsure if I want to. So since it does work as a one-shot, I'm going to leave it as 'Completed' for now and see what I want.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it! Please leave a review~
