Here it is, the twelfth full chapter of Miraculous Quirks released early as I have the time to go on a little surge again so expect at least one to three more chapters over the weekend. There isn't much more to say here as this chapter is just the round up to the USJ arc though as the title suggests at least one small thing may or may not be learned. However, that is all I have now for you though and as there are no questions to respond to here and no guest reviews to answer I will leave this note here which means that it is time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the 12th full chapter of Miraculous Quirks.
Disclaimer: I do not own either of these great works of fiction.
Chapter 12: Recovery Revelations
"19, 20, 21." Detective Tsukauchi said as he finished counting the students outside the USJ as the villains captured that had been captured in the facility were led out in restraints and onto the various prison vans waiting to take them to one of the several facilities to process them. "That is everyone minus the boy whose legs are all messed up. Everyone else seems to be unharmed which is good to see given what just happened."
It was about half an hour after the incident had ended with the teacher's arrival and the flight of the two main villains. The teachers had alerted the police to the situation as they went to the USJ, so the police was on scene in force as soon as possible with enough officers and vehicles to deal with the plethora of villains that were now looking at lengthy stints in prison for both this crime and the countless crimes many of them were wanted for. Finally, the incident was over.
All the students, minus Midoriya who had been taken out first through a side door to get healed up, were gathered in front of the facility waiting to return to school as the teachers and police cleaned up the mess and took statements from them. Other than Midoriya they were all good minus a few minor scrapes on those who'd been more active and a lipid deficiency for Yaoyorozu who was still being supported by Jiro as she ate some food to regain her strength. They had survived their first villain encounter though and it had taught them a lot.
"Hey Ojiro." Hagakure said putting a gloved hand on his shoulder surprising him as the class began breaking up to chat as they waited for the bus. "I heard that you were really brave in there. That's amazing!"
"Well as far as I knew I was alone." Ojiro said a little embarrassed having a naked girl so close to him and complementing at the same time. "I survived using mainly hit and run tactics. Though I did notice something interesting while I was in the conflagration zone."
"Oh, what?" Hagakure asked interested.
"Agreste ran past me on the outside of the dome." Ojiro said recalling what he'd seen. "On the wall where the dome meets the building."
"What!" Hagakure exclaimed shocked by the news. "But those are curved and narrow. How'd he do it? I know he's pretty stealthy, I think I can learn from him on that front, but that is different."
"I don't know." Ojiro said and decided to ask the other boy himself and called out to the French teen who was currently ignoring Aoyama as the flamboyant kid tried to entice people into asked where he was and switching between Japanese and French for some reason when he tried to address Agreste. "Hey Agreste, a word."
"Huh, oh hey Ojiro, Hagakure." Adrien said coming up to the martial artist glad to be away from his partial countryman who had decided to ask him to guess where he'd ended up in French and then not give Adrien an answer when he gave in, so he was fine leaving Aoyama to his own devices for the moment as he seemed fine. "What's up? Where were you two by the way? When Marinette checked we couldn't find either of you. It's good to see that you are unharmed."
"She checked on us?" Ojiro asked confused at that though if she had some way of doing so then that might explain why Agreste was moving between zones. "And I was in the conflagration zone, alone as far as I am aware though Aoyama could have been there, but he seems unwilling to tell us where he was."
"Damn that must have been tough, but we did presume you, Aoyama, Koda and Tokoyami all ended up in the domed zones." Adrien said. "As for how my lady checked up on us, Marinette created a drone to check on everyone, it's how I ended up helping Yaoyorozu, Jiro and Kaminari because we saw that they needed help. Speaking of which, where were you Hagakure? We presumed you went full stealth and hid somewhere as we couldn't find you."
"Oh, I was in the landslide zone with Todoroki." Hagakure said excitedly pointing at the half and half boy. "He was amazing out there; the villains didn't stand a chance against him."
Todoroki heard this and blanched a little at his classmate's words. He had no idea that Hagakure was there at all, he'd been so focused on the villains that he hadn't paid attention to checking to see if any of his classmates were in the zone with him and given the invisible girl's Quirk she was the hardest to spot. He could have frozen her if he had been careless.
"Didn't know she was there I take it." Marinette whispered in his ear from behind having noticed Todoroki's reaction and deciding to mess with him a little to see if he'd lighten up a bit. "Guess we found something you're not good at Todoroki."
"I was focused on defeating the villains." Todoroki said a little surprised that the girl managed to sneak up on him, she kept impressing him and that wasn't a good thing for her as he was going to crush any rivals he met, and she was certainly a rival now after all he'd seen of her skills, experience, and leadership in the USJ. "Not my surroundings beyond checking for allies, one of whom I clearly missed. It was a mistake; one I will learn from."
"Yeah, special awareness is something a hero really needs." Marinette said as she walked off to chat with Uraraka and Ida and see how they were doing. "Especially with your Quirk. Power is one thing but with your level you need to remember both control and the area it can affect."
Todoroki just nodded at her words, he couldn't fault them as it was good advice from someone with training and experience, before he went back to his solo brooding. He wasn't here to make friends; he was here to become a hero and show his old man that he could do it his way without his damned fire Quirk.
"What was that about?" Hagakure asked Adrien as they noticed the exchange thanks to Hagakure having pointed to Todoroki just before it. "Why did your girlfriend talk to Todoroki briefly?"
"Probably to make sure he was ok or to remind him that he made a mistake as well if I had to guess." Adrien said with a shrug. "Marinette is a natural leader and always wants to make sure everyone is good after a fight. Plus, she was one of the 5 who were in the plaza at the very end of that battle, so she saw the climax of it."
"I heard, that's unreal that some of our class were there for the big fight." Ojiro said shaking his head. "I heard it but that was it."
"I only saw, well and felt, the end from the mountains, but it did sound epic." Adrien said before remembering that he'd been called over here. "Anyway, what was it you wanted to ask me Ojiro?"
"Oh yeah, back during the chaos I saw you running on the wall at the edge of the zone I was in where the dome met it." Ojiro said. "I was taking a breather and seeing if I could break the glass, I couldn't, when you ran past me. I was impressed, that is a narrow, curved ledge so balance on it must be really hard. I was wondering if you had any tips for how you pulled it off. I am always looking to improve my balance."
"Oh that, I, er don't think I can teach it as it is more instinctual for me that I've trained up, but I couldn't do it without a slight edge I have." Adrien said a little embarrassed and going with the lie they had for explaining this. "You see, my mother's Quirk gave her the attributes of a cat in a human with no exterior change. You know the kinda stuff like enhanced sight, smell, hearing, balance, reflexes, etc. and while I inherited a stronger, more destructive version of my father's Quirk I got her constitution thrown in for good measure. While it's not her level, I have stronger eyesight, smell, and balance than a normal human. That coupled with my training back home allowed me to do what you saw."
"I see, that is lucky for you." Ojiro said a little surprised and Adrien was glad he didn't have to lie any more than necessary or talk about his long dead mother as that still brought him sadness. "It must be really useful."
"It is." Adrien said. "It's why I am so light on my feet."
"Wait that's it?" Hagakure asked sounding upset. "Does that mean you can't help me with stealth. With my Quirk it's what I am best at."
"That it is, though be careful of animal-based Quirks and when you want to be stealthy don't use a fruity conditioner or wear perfume." Adrien said bluntly causing Hagakure to blush, not that they saw, at that. "You'll want to limit that and learn to mask your smell, that will boost your stealth."
"It will?" Hagakure asked. "So, there is some stuff you can teach me, right?"
"I can try if you are interested." Adrien said realizing that there was a mutual benefit to this. "And it will help me with my own skills as I have not really focused on what I got from my mother other than the sight at night. We can help each other get better if you want."
"I do, though I will ask Dupain-Cheng if it is ok first." Hagakure said sounding excited. "It would be dishonorable not to ask her before training with her man, especially given how exposed I have to be to maximize my Quirk."
"Oh, yeah, that might be for the best." Adrien said realizing what the girl meant and agreeing that she should probably talk to Marinette first just to be safe. "There is something I want to ask Ojiro for help with though."
"There is?" Ojiro asked surprised. "What?"
"I would be interested in learning some hand-to-hand combat from you." Adrien said looking at his classmate. "I am skilled with my staff because of training but Marinette told me that her yo-yo was destroyed so I realized that I need some hand-to-hand training as there will be times I can't use my staff, be it because I am disarmed, it is destroyed, or I just don't have it. You're the best in the class for that."
"Oh, teach me too." Hagakure said jumping up and down, at least Adrien thought she was judging by the movement of her gloves and a slight sound that Adrien was certain he knew what it was and pointedly didn't dwell on. "It will go well with my stealth training as well. Between you two I could become an ultimate stealth hero."
"I can do that." Ojiro said with a nod, glad that his classmates were asking for help as it would improve his own skills as well. "Though at times can you use a staff against me Agreste, I need to be better trained against weapons. Today showed me that villains will use them so I should be prepared to counter them with my own skills."
"Of course." Adrien said with a nod. "It's only fair that we help each other out and improve together as a class.."
"Detective, what is Mr. Aizawa's status?" Tsu asked as she got fed up with Aoyama and her question got everyone's attention as they remember their injured teachers and classmate who'd fought so hard to protect them, her voice distracting Adrien from his conversation and he turned to listen in, as did most of the class. "He was hurt really badly back there; will he be ok?"
"He was badly injured, as you pointed out, but he'll live." Tsukauchi said looking at the report he had. "The bones in his arms were splintered and he suffered a severe orbital fracture but there doesn't appear to be any brain damage. We don't know how his eyesight will be affected though. He's in for some major healing and recovery but he'll make a full one in time."
"Ok, that is good." Tsu said with a sigh of relief. "He was amazing in there, I'm glad to hear that he'll be ok."
"What about Thirteen?" Mina asked as the class gathered around the detective now eager for updates. "Is she going to be ok as well?"
"Thirteen will be fine." Tsukauchi said with a smile at the pink skinned girl. "She has several deep lacerations to her back but that is all she received in the end. All Might's injures are relatively minor as well, all he needs is Recovery Girl so he's with her at the school now."
"And what of Deku?" Uraraka said causing Marinette to give the girl a small smile, of course she'd be the one to ask about Midoriya first just as it should be given what Marinette was certain was developing in the brunette. "He was injured as well."
"Yes how is Midoriya?" Ida said concerned for his friend and helping to clarify who Uraraka was talking about.
"Mid… oh the classmate with the broken legs." Tsukauchi said as he finally figured out who they were talking about. "He's with Recovery Girl as well, he'll be fine thanks to her Quirk."
"Thank goodness." Uraraka said breathing a sigh of relief. "That is a relief that he'll be ok."
"Anyway, that is all I have for you, let's get you back to campus." Tsukauchi said as Marinette already knew that Uraraka at least, and likely Ida, herself and Adrien, would be waiting for Midoriya to be discharged no matter how late it got. "We can get your reports later. Sansa, can you deal with this, I've got to finish things up here and have a few words with the Principal."
"Yes sir." An officer with a cat's head and bell at his throat said seriously with a salute as the class began to board the bus back to campus. "You can count on me to see that they are safely returned to U.A."
"He's a cat?" Mina asked as they passed the other officer.
"Aw, look at his bell." Uraraka said noticing it. "It's cute."
"Not as cute as yours was." Marinette said in French to Adrien with a grin. "It suited you, but I agree, it's too much here."
"No one is as cute as me to you m'lady, just as you are the cutest to me." Adrien said with a grin and a wink at his girlfriend that made her blush deeply at his words. "Though you are right, no one can rock a cat bell like me."
"You two are positively adorable." Hagakure said as they all got on the bus and instantly she and Mina were sitting together near the French couple to grill them after their exchange, something most of the class had heard though not Aoyama which was good. "I need to learn French to understand what you two whisper to each other at times but I'm still struggling with English so not until I get a good handle on that."
"It is the language of love." Mina teased as the bus began to pull away and take them back to campus. "It is fitting that they'd be all lovey-dovey in their native tongue when it is perfect for that."
Marinette and Adrien just smiled at their classmates and friends as the bus pulled away and began to head back to school. Though they would rather their friends not learn French, it gave them some privacy so long as Aoyama wasn't near them, but it still touched them that they'd try to learn their language even if it were so that Mina and Toru could snoop on them.
Little did either know that another member of their class had already started to learn French and she wasn't bad at it so she'd heard and knew more than they would have wanted to about that conversation. However, Yaoyorozu had no idea what it really meant so she'd have to think on it a bit more before asking about it, so she left that thought for now as the class began to chat more the further they got away from the USJ.
It was also a good sign that the class was talking aimable with each other, well most of them minus Bakugo and Todoroki who were doing their usual brooding or angry loner thing, even after what they'd just gone through. They had just seen the what the world really was like and almost right off the bat in their time at U.A. and they'd not only survived but they had grown from it.
All this would help them, and Marinette was sure that in time their class would become great heroes if this were how they handled any adversity that they might face. All that was left was to wait for Midoriya and make sure that he was ok. None of them noticed the deep thoughts that Bakugo was in about what Deku had done as the gears began to work in his regarding the boy's Quirk while Kirishima tried to talk to him on the way back to school.
When they did get back, Marinette did notice that of all of them, only Uraraka looked up to the school as if to look to the Nurse's office for where Midoriya was. Again, she smiled, she was going to enjoy watching that develop slowly over time as she was sure the seed was firmly planted in the brunette's subconscious and who was Marinette to not help out a friend that would end up in the same boat as she had once been in. All in good time though, first they had to change and wait for Midoriya.
"I can't be certain but I'm sure that I've shortened my time again after today." All Might said as he came too in the Nurse's office to Recovery Girl agreeing not to scold young Midoriya for being back in the office so soon after the last time he was here for a broken limb. "I'll be lucky if I can hold the form for an hour or so now."
"All Might?" Izuku said his eyes wide as he look at his mentor's frail, bandaged covered torso as he sat up in his bed.
"Don't worry, these things happen." All Might said with a sigh. "And I would do it again to save you guys so don't question it. Without me there things could have gone a lot worse."
As he spoke, and Izuku processed it, the door opened and a tall but otherwise unremarkable man with black hair and wearing a suit and brown trench coat entered and took his at off as he closed the door behind him as he did. He smiled at All Might and Recovery Girl as he did.
"All Might, I just came to check up on you." The man said. "And see how you are doing after earlier."
"I didn't know that you would be investigating this." All Might said with a cough of blood. "That's reassuring to know that you're on the case."
"Wait All Might is it ok that he sees you like this!" Izuku said sitting up and panicking at his mentor's secret getting out, he was already worried one of his classmates knew about it and now an unknown man to him was in the room seeing All Might in his weak form. "It's supposed to be a secret."
"What? Oh yeah it's fine don't worry about it." All Might said as the man approached his bed. "Young Midoriya, this is Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi, my best friend on the Police Force. He's legit, I trust him entirely and you can too."
"That is high praise coming from you All Might." Tsukauchi said with a smile before he became serious about why he'd come to visit. "But I actually came here to see if you had any information for me about what happened at the USJ."
"Wait before I do what about the kids." All Might said frantically and immediately Izuku was also alert as there were plenty of his classmates that he hadn't seen in the USJ who might be injured worse than he was. "And Aiza… I mean Eraser and Thirteen. Are they all at least safe?"
"Other than this kid, the only injuries were a few scrapes for the kids." Tsukauchi said and Izuku breathed out a sigh of relief at that. "And the teachers are in stable condition. You should be proud, the three of you saved these kids from those villains."
"I think you're missing the big picture here Tsukauchi." All Might said seriously. "Don't count out these kids and what they did today, many of the villains were defeated by them. Never before has a class at U.A. experienced a fight so early in their time here. Not only did they survive, but they learned what it means to be a pro right at the very start of their education, and they will all grew from this. Those villains made a big mistake attacking them. This class is filled with courage, vision, and drive. Mark my words, this class with become great heroes."
Izuku heard his mentor's words and took them to heart as he absorbed them. All Might was right; they had faced something no class had faced this early in their U.A. education, and they'd not only survived it, but All Might was right, they had learned what being a pro meant. He would not fail his mentor and he knew his classmates wouldn't either now that they knew what was waiting for them when they graduated and became heroes.
He looked to All Might to find him smiling at him and giving him a thumbs up. Izuku knew that that was a sign that he was on the right path and to keep giving it his all and going beyond to become a hero just like All Might.
After that though the conversation turned back to the incident and both All Might and Izuku gave Tsukauchi their statements on what had happened to them in the USJ and what they knew of the main villains. It appeared that there were no records on Shigaraki, Kurogiri, or Nomu, either by the names they'd used or the Quirks they had, which was not good at all, but Tsukauchi promised that the police was thoroughly investigating this.
With that done, he took his leave to continue his work as All Might and Midoriya recovered while Recovery Girl got back to some paperwork that she had to finish up. It was their first moment alone since they'd gotten here and Izuku finally felt safe voicing something that had been bugging him. Recovery Girl was here but All Might had told him that she was completely in the know about One for All so her trustworthiness was unquestioned and as such Izuku knew he could talk about it.
"All Might." Izuku said in a slightly shaky voice as he tried to figure out how to phrase what he wanted to say. "There is something I want to ask you."
"Of course, Young Midoriya." All Might said with a nod. "What is it?"
"Earlier, right at the end of the incident, after Shigaraki and Kurogiri had left, something happened that confused me." Izuku said thinking back on what had happened. "When Kirishima was running to check up on me, he almost saw your secret, but he didn't."
"Yes that was fortunate." All Might said. "It was great to see young Kirishima so concerned about you, but he can't learn about my injuries. That was a close one for sure."
"It was but the reason he didn't see it was because Dupain-Cheng stopped him, and I think her Quirk gave her some form of tranquilizer that I don't doubt she was about to use on Kirishima if he didn't stop." Izuku said and All Might's eyes went wide as Recovery Girl sighed at how careless the man had been to get into this situation. "She acted almost right away, as if she knew that Kirishima shouldn't approach me and while she used some good logic to stop him, it was all so sudden and without much hesitation that it made me wonder. Is she aware of your weakened state?"
"Your analytical skills are still as good as ever I see." All Might said with a sigh of his own as he realized that he'd have to tell the boy at least part of the truth of the French couple, the rest was so unbelievable that he'd need Mage to be present to help out with that part and young Midoriya wasn't ready for it. "Both young Dupain-Cheng and young Agreste are aware of my injury and weakened state. I haven't told them that you know as well to avoid you guys talking about it when someone might hear, as well as to avoid them learning of how close we are, but she's a smart one, she'll know you know now at least. Likely she realized that you'd found out and was limiting it to just you."
"How did they find out though?" Izuku asked confused. "You are usually so careful about it."
"I am but in this case it was unavoidable." All Might said hating that he had to lie to his protégé about this, but this involved secrets that weren't his to tell so he went with the cover story that Mage had crafted for it. "It is all due to the transfer program and who was involved in their acceptance to U.A. through it."
"What do you mean?" Izuku asked still a little confused.
"How aware are you of how they do things in Europe?" All Might asked. "We kinda have to do a bit of a deep dive for you to fully get why I had to let them know."
"A little, they've explained some stuff to me, and I've looked into it a bit myself." Izuku said thinking on it and beginning to mutter. "Let's see. They start high school there at 13 not 15 as it is here so they have 2 years of training which is why they are considered on par with recommended students. In addition, for some reason Francois Dupont's hero course does two things no other course I've heard of does. The first is that heroes are paired from the start with a partner for their full 5 years, which builds trust and teamwork and I know that those two were paired together. The second is that while all the hero course students know each other from normal class, they have special changing rooms and wear full masks so that they don't know who's who when they are in costume during hero studies."
"Got it in one there, with a bit extra." All Might said not cutting young Midoriya off during his mumble fest until it was the right moment to do so. "The whole paired thing is how they have their trust, though the romantic aspect of their relationship is unknown to me but not unexpected there from what I've heard. It's the schooling difference that is key. You see, Japan is different from Europe or America in that we start high school, where hero studies are conducted, at 15. Most Europeans start at 13 while Americans start at 14 so they have some advantages there due to the extra year or two of training they get. It is why Japan's courses are so intense."
"That does make sense." Izuku said understanding more now. "We do have to make up for lost time after all. I've not seen much of them in combat, I missed their battle trials, but from what I've heard they are very good."
"Correct but that is not all." All Might said. "Exchange students from western schools have to go through a series of tests to come here. It's rather intensive for them and includes language requirements and combat evaluations back in France, both of which those two clearly passed, and in order to do that they must come to Japan 6 months prior to the start of the school year to help adjust and deal with the fact that the school year starts at a different time of year to what they're used to."
"It does?" Izuku asked confused. "I didn't know that."
"Yes, western schools in countries like America, Great Britain, and France begin their school years in September and have their large break over the summer." All Might explained. "While schools here begin in April and end in March with month or so long breaks between the trimesters. It is an adjustment so transfer students from western systems come early to fully adapt to ours."
"I see that makes sense as it is a complete shift to how the school year is done so they have an additional thing to adapt to." Izuku said thinking on it and realizing just how much his two friends had had to go through to come to U.A. between learning a whole new language, a new culture, and a new school system. "That would explain a need to come here and understand language, culture, and the new system in advance as living in a place for a while will really help with those things."
"Precisely." All Might said with a nod glad to see that young Midoriya at least understood what it was like for usual transfer students. "Young Dupain-Cheng and Agreste, along with an American girl in Class 1-B are the exchange students this year and came over though they stayed separately."
"I get all that, but I still don't understand how they found out about your form." Izuku said. "Those two I mean, not the girl in the other class as I don't know her at all."
"Ah yes, well that is because each exchange student has a sponsor teacher of sorts who is the one the school sends the application to and who must accept it for the process to begin." All Might explained. "Often it is member of staff that knows the school they come from and agrees to sponsor their exchange application, or who is at least familiar with their native country. For young Tsunotori, her sponsor is Present Mic as he has extensive contacts in America and England, so he usually works for English speakers and that is actually why I never saw her until her first heroics class, so she doesn't know about me. For the French duo, their sponsor is Principal Nezu."
"Wait really?" Izuku asked his eye wide. "I didn't know that."
"The Principle doesn't like to talk about it much, but he has extensive contacts in many educational institutions around the world and with his Quirk he can learn languages with ease, so he speaks many fluently, including French." All Might said. "It is how he finds most of the exchange students in fact and why U.A. has a good connection to a place like Francois Dupont out in Paris. He also has a good relationship with the teachers there and when they passed the tests, Nezu asked for one of them to come here as a part time teacher and to serve as the guardian to those two."
"I think they may have said something about that." Izuku said thinking on the chats he'd had with the transfer students. "But I don't know much about their guardian other than that they have one."
"He's a pro from Europe who works for an international agency, one of the few that exist." All Might said instantly peaking Izuku's interest as he only knew of two or three agencies were like that and if they had a pro from one that was huge. "He agreed and has taken over running their Japanese branch but that is more because of his rank, the branch itself has existed for a while without the need for one of the main heroes running it but with him here it just made sense to give him all the paperwork. In addition, he's a part time teacher here who focuses on teaching Quirkless combat. You will meet him at the end of the semester I believe and he's a little eccentric, so I'll leave it there on him."
"Ok well Quirkless combat is something we should learn." Izuku said realizing how important it was and already eager to meet an international pro and already planning on going over his few notes on the known ones to see if any might be the right one. "Mr. Aizawa showed us that today when he faced all those villains."
"Correct, you can't always rely on your Quirk and not all Quirks are useful in direct combat so knowing how to fight without one is a good thing to know." All Might said. "Anyway, during the time they were adjusting to Japan, meeting with Nezu, and all that, they ran into me by chance here in my weakened form as I was in the process of joining the staff and that required me to be close to the Principal as well. They are pretty sharp those two and figured it out after the second time they saw me, so I explained that I had been injured 5 years ago and my stamina badly damaged by it. It was why I was getting into teaching, to prepare for when I had to retire. That is all they know though."
"Oh ok, that makes sense then." Izuku said trusting his mentor's words though both All Might, and Recovery Girl for that matter, weren't happy about lying to him, but he couldn't know the full truth yet, he wasn't prepared to handle a revelation of that magnitude at the moment but in time he would be ready to learn the whole truth of the French pair and who the Guardians actually were. "And them not knowing I know is another level of secrecy, I see that. It makes sense and really helped today that Dupain-Cheng knew and could preserve it, even if she didn't know I already knew as well."
"Exactly." All Might said glad that at least his successor knew some of the truth. "Though I ask that you also keep this a secret as well. You can talk to them in private if they can manage it, they will be aware you know now as well, but only in private can you do so. Otherwise go about your way."
"Of course, I'll do just that." Izuku said with a nod.
"Good, is that all you had?" All Might asked as he leaned back in the bed.
"Yes, I was just confused by her actions earlier and this cleared it up." Izuku said. "I'm glad I understand now."
"Alright well I need to rest, today has been draining." All Might said with a sigh as he nodded off.
"You should as well deary." Recovery Girl said to Izuku with a smile. "I'll wake you when you are able to heal fully but you need to recover some stamina first before I do that."
Izuku just nodded as he laid back and let sleep claim him. He was exhausted after the day, a brief healing to stabilize him, and the injuries he'd suffered. He could do with a break. When he woke it would be late, but he would get home and rest up after such an eventful day.
"Thank you." Izuku said with a deep bow to Recovery Girl as he stood in the door of her office.
"That's ok now run along home." Recovery Girl said. "It's getting late, and you'll worry your mother if you're too late."
Izuku bowed again agreeing at that as his mother already knew that was running late and would be worrying despite knowing he was fine before turning and running to the exit of the school. It was late, the moon was up, and night had fallen so the school was deserted as he ran through the hallways to get to the station and home as fast as possible, with a bit of training thrown in for good measure as he ran.
Recovery Girl had finished healing him about an hour earlier and now he had regained his stamina and back in his school uniform with his bag. He still had bandages on his hand and legs, and he'd get a tearful from his mother when he got home, but she knew he was safe and recovered so he could handle that. He just had to get out of the building and head home.
It was as Izuku was leaving the building that he was greeted by an unexpected but more than welcome sight. Uraraka, Ida, Dupain-Cheng and Agreste were all there waiting for him back in their school uniforms as well and ready to head to the station with him. It touched him that they were all there for him despite the late hour.
"You didn't have to wait up." Izuku said as he joined them. "I was going to be out late after what happened."
"It's what friends do." Ida said simply while the others nodded. "You were hurt protecting All Might, we had to stay."
"Yeah, we wanted to make sure you were ok Deku." Uraraka said in her usual bubbly tone. "I see that you are, Recovery Girl is amazing."
"That she is." Izuku said. "I'll be a little sore but nothing I can't handle."
"Well, you will have time to recover as they've cancelled school tomorrow." Marinette said. "Which means we can all rest and relax after today."
"Wait, don't you two live in Tokyo?" Izuku asked the French pair recalling what they'd told him as they headed to the station on their first day at U.A. and being shocked back then about it but with the late hour he was amazed and touched that they'd stayed. "Which still surprises me that you commute that far to come to school."
"It's not as bad as you think." Adrien said as they began walking to the station. "The bullet train is fast and frankly we don't mind it. We use the commute to do our homework and our place is right by the main station, so we'll be home almost as soon as we get to back."
"Yeah, it's not a problem." Marinette said a little upset about lying but she couldn't exactly say that Mage could teleport them home from a secluded spot in the station if they gave him heads up like they did today, that might reveal too much. "Plus no one will mess with us in these uniforms. Don't worry about it."
"Um ok." Izuku said trusting that they had it well in hand. "Well thank you anyway. What did I miss while I was out?"
"A fair bit." Ida said. "Basically…"
They chatted amicably about the rest of the day as they walked to the station to get the trains they needed to get to go home. It was nice to do this with friends, something Izuku had never experienced before thanks to Kacchan and his Quirkless existence.
Between that and what they'd accomplished today he felt ready for the future and what it had in store for them as they now knew that they had the potential to become heroes. Little did he know that soon three of them would face something far worse than what they had just faced in the USJ.
Ah a nice bit of foreboding to end the chapter on, just as the first season of the anime ended and I am sure that many of you know what I am referring to with that, while also ending with Izuku learning something new about the French pair but not the main thing as that is still a long time off. Of course, I won't give anything away and there is a lot more to happen before then as we get ready for the next arc but before then is the first of a recurring chapter style that will come up every now and then as a transition of sorts between arcs. However, that is all I have for this chapter so I will leave it here. If you like it or have any questions please let me know in reviews or PMs, I will try to answer them as best I could and post any questions asked between uploads at the start of the next chapter and do follow and favorite this, so you are alerted to future uploads. Do keep the reviews coming as I like hearing from y'all as you enjoy my work, it motivates me to keep producing the best work I can for y'all to enjoy. Until next time.
