Here it is, the twenty-second full chapter of Miraculous Quirks released early in what will be the last of the current surge and a rare second chapter in a day. This is going to be the shortest chapter to date hence why I can get it out so quick and the last chapter I will release ahead of schedule for a while. From now on and at least through the internship arc I will be releasing chapters weekly until I have rebuilt my draft cushion and then I can speed up again once I am at least 10+ chapters ahead in my draft from what has been published. Anyway, that is all the all I have for here though and as there are no questions to respond to here and no guest reviews to answer, though keep the reviews coming as I enjoy hearing from y'all, so I will leave this note here which means that it is time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the 22nd full chapter of Miraculous Quirks.

Disclaimer: I do not own either of these great works of fiction.

Chapter 22: Final and Medal Ceremony

"This is it folks, it all comes down to this!" Present Mic announced to the cheering crowd as the moment they'd all been waiting for was finally upon them. "From the Hero Course, Shoto Todoroki. Verses his classmate, Katsuki Bakugo for the final of the U.A. Sports Festival!"

The whole crowd was eager and on edge as they cheered the announcement for the final battle of the first year's Sports Festival. It had come down to this and two of the big favorites had proven it by reaching the final through several tough battles, especially for Todoroki, to make it this far. Bakugo was grinning eager to get the thing started while Todoroki had his own stoic expression on though unbeknownst to anyone else he had an inner turmoil going on given what had happened in his last two matches.

From the stands, all of Class 1-A watched as their classmates prepared to face off for the glory of winning the Sports Festival. Class 1-B weren't too happy with the fact that this had been a showcase for 1-A, especially as none of their class made it to the final bracket compared to 14 from 1-A and two who weren't even in the Hero Course but that was just how it had ended up and the whole class now strived to get better to upstage Class A next time. Still, everyone was serious as the match was set to start.

"And begin!" Present Mic yelled.

Instantly Todoroki crouched down, and a wave of ice shot out at Bakugo before he could move. From the stands the class could see that it wasn't as intense as the one that had frozen Sero but wider and larger than the one he'd tried on Marinette to cover half the field at the very start. It was so fast all Bakugo could do was blast at the ice as it came to him while yelling before he was covered though few expected Bakugo to be out of it so quickly.

"Is it possible that we already have a winner?" Present Mic said as the ice stopped. "I think so, but we have to wait for Midnight's declaration."

"No, Kacchan couldn't be stopped that quickly." Izuku said looked at the ice as no announcement was made regarding the battle. "It's the right move, cooling him down and preventing him from sweating is the way you counter him but I'm not sure that that was what Todoroki was going for. It looks like he was just trying to capture Kacchan in ice."

"What?" Uraraka asked confused. "What do you mean Deku?"

"Kacchan's Quirk is a hybrid of his parents' Quirks that came out powerful without the need for something like a Quirk Marriage." Midoriya explained. "His mom can secrete a nitroglycerin like substance over her whole body while his father can create explosions from the sweat on his palms, but he can't ignite it directly. Kacchan basically got his mom's sweat composition but only from his palms like his dad along with his dad's explosive ability but because his sweat is like nitroglycerin he can explode it without having to clap his hands together."

"Damn that is lucky." Ojiro said as it explained Bakugo's power just as a series of muffled booms could be heart from the ice. "It also explains how strong his Quirk is."

"It's strong but his true skill comes from his intelligence and battle awareness." Adrien said as Tokoyami nodded from beside him. "Power can only get you so far, brains is what takes the last part to make someone great. Against me he showed how precise his control is all while knowing of my enhanced stamina and figured out my strategy at the same time. He also deduced how my Quirk worked and used that against me when he won."

"Same here, he figured out my weakness by attacking over and over though with that Quirk of his it is easy." Tokoyami said. "We should not underestimate Bakugo. His attitude and personality is bad, but his drive and abilities are those of a true hero."

"By the way what is that creepy sound." Mineta said having been freed from his tape now that he couldn't be a per as the sound got louder and louder. "What is making it?"

"Kacchan." Izuku said as there was a massive explosion, and the ice blew out and Todoroki leapt back from the hole that Bakugo had bored out of the ice with his power. "Todoroki missed his mark and all that effort made Kacchan sweat more so he forced his way out, so his Quirk won't be affected by that ice."

"Man, he tunneled out of that like some crazy mole man." Sero said as Bakugo gripped the ice before blasting himself fully out of it and at Todoroki at full speed. "No one else could have done that."

As Bakugo charged, Todoroki stepped forward with his right hand raise but at the last second Bakugo blasted to the right with his left hand out of the way of it so that he was on Todoroki's left side. He then grabbed Todoroki's red hair and left shoulder as he flipped over the other boy and landed on the concrete still holding a now arched Todoroki before he threw him hard towards the out of bounds mark with a yell and an explosion to accelerate the throw.

It was similar to Marinette's throw only with more power to it and no gut check. Todoroki spun in the air again before he surfed an ice wave like he did against Marinette to avoid going out of bounds.

"Todoroki surfs an ice wave again, looks fun." Present Mic said as Bakugo roared and blasted at him but again grabbed Todoroki's left side.

There seemed to be a brief pause as Bakugo flew that matching Todoroki's ice speed as he held on as if daring Todoroki to use his left side before it was broken, and Todoroki used his right arm to toss Bakugo away. Bakugo landed and turned to face Todoroki as he leapt off the ice and was now standing in front of the hole that Bakugo had made in Todoroki's opening attack.

"Bakugo timed his explosions just right to stay on Todoroki's left side, he's done his homework." Aizawa said calmly. "His aptitude for this becomes clearer as each round goes. Each of the last 3 battles, including this one, Bakugo has figured out something about his opponent and used it to his own advantage the way a hero is expect to do in the field."

"Interesting." Present Mic said.

"As for Todoroki, his attacks are too simple." Aizawa continued ignoring his friend. "It's almost as if he lost his spark after his battle against Midoriya and then something has caused him to hesitate even more after his match with Dupain-Cheng but what I cannot say right now."

On the battlefield, Bakugo had explosions going between his hands and was angrily yelling at Todoroki. It was loud and they could just about hear him. It was as expected to those who knew Bakugo. He was pissed that Todoroki wasn't using his flames like he had in the last two rounds and that was really pissing Bakugo off.

Midoriya could understand that. Bakugo wanted to be the best and that meant beating the best at their best. He'd shown off his full power against Uraraka when she surprised him, forced Agreste to use his Cataclysm against him to show that he could surpass it, he'd defeated Dark Shadow after Tokoyami had used it so effectively against Yaoyorozu and Ashido.

He'd made it all the way to the final and was facing who everyone saw as their strongest classmate going into the Sports Festival. Add in that Todoroki had made it to the final by first freezing half the stadium, then going all out in the two largest battles, most destructive battles against Midoriya and then Dupain-Cheng but he was holding back now. Even though Todoroki wasn't intending to, Izuku knew that Kacchan saw it as an insult that Todoroki wouldn't give him the same battle he'd given his last two opponents.

"This doesn't mean anything if you don't give it your all like you did against Deku and Dupain-Cheng." Bakugo roared surprising their whole class, especially Marinette, by using her actual name, before he leapt into the air and held his arms crossed, palms by his side. "Show everyone that you're trying to destroy me!"

With that Bakugo sent out a series of explosions from his hands to turn himself into a spinning missile in the air. He was rotating at a fast speed in a new move he'd clearly been preparing for Todoroki as he sped it up getting faster and faster as he prepared to deliver a devastating blow.

Todoroki for his part seemed to hesitate where he was as looked up at Bakugo. He was in turmoil still. Midoriya had forced him to use his flames and showed him that he could use them but when he used them against Dupain-Cheng he'd seen how devastating they could be as he still lacked temperature control over them, and she had enhanced resistance due to her familial history. Now he didn't know what it meant to him and yet here he was in the final facing Bakugo, and he knew he needed his flames to beat him.

"You can do it Todoroki." Midoriya suddenly yelled at him from the stands, the quiet in the stadium allowing Todoroki to hear it. "Do your best."

Todoroki wasn't sure what it was, it might have been simply because it was Midoriya that he found the strength to use it. His left eye ignited as for the third time that day he used his flames and raise his left arm, fire coming from it and pointed it at Bakugo who was almost on him grinning like a mad man in the vortex.

As he looked at his classmate, Todoroki remembered the burns he'd given Dupain-Cheng and saw the blood that had run down her arm and side because of his fire and suddenly he hesitated. He was still uncertain, and he had to find the answers to his many questions that his long-repressed memories had brought to the forefront of his mind. He knew where to get them, but he couldn't do it now as his fire went out and he crouched down, encasing himself in ice to try and protect himself.

"Sorry Bakugo." Todoroki said as he embraced what was coming. "Forgive me but I can't give you what you want right now."

Bakugo saw this but it was too late to stop as he finished his rotation and placed his left hand on the ice that contained Todoroki before unleashing a massive explosion on the level of the first and second rounds but not as painful to him this time thanks to the spin. The entire stage blew up as the ice went everywhere and Bakugo landed hard on the ground in the middle of the battlefield thanks to what he was now calling his Howitzer Impact.

"Bakugo combined speed and rotation with the explosions he used again Uraraka and Agreste." Present Mic said as the smoke filled the stadium. "Has that ended it?"

It took a moment for it to clear but when it did they saw the result. On the ice rubble, out of bounds on the grass, and out cold was Todoroki. He'd lost and he'd not used his flames. Bakugo saw this and he snapped realizing what Todoroki had done as he got to his feet and slowly walked before he ran to the icy-hot bastard, grabbing the front of his shirt and yelling into his face about the victory and how he wasn't going to accept it this way. The asshole had better get up so that he could win this properly.

Suddenly a pink mist filled the area and Bakugo was cut off mid-sentence as he collapsed unconscious to the ice in front of Todoroki. Behind him was Midnight with her sleeve ripped as the pink mist from her body did the job it was supposed to do.

"Todoroki is out of bounds." Midnight said once she was certain Bakugo was out of it for a while and raised her left arm to indicate that it was over. "Bakugo is the winner."

"There it is folks, the winner of the U.A. Sports Festival for the first years is Katsuki Bakugo." Present Mic said as the crowd cheered.

"Dupain-Cheng, we should go." Tokoyami said getting up. "We will be needed once everything is done and Recovery Girl should be there given Todoroki's state so if you need her again she can do it there."

"Huh, why?" Marinette asked a little confused as her mind was still on what had just happened in the final.

"Marinette, the U.A. Sports Festival doesn't have a third-place playoff." Uraraka said a little surprised that her friend hadn't realized what she'd accomplished by making it to the final four. "You and Tokoyami were guaranteed the bronze medal the moment you made it to the semifinal."

"Oh, that does make sense." Marinette said as the robots took Todoroki and Bakugo off the battlefield and she recalled that Recovery Girl had told her to meet her in the bowels of the stadium at the podium before the ceremony and everything clicked for her. "Alright let's go, I do need some more healing."

With that she got up a little stiffly and left with Tokoyami as the others waited to go down to the main battlefield once it was cleared. It had been explained to them that should they be in the awards ceremony then there was a special place they had to go so Marinette and Tokoyami made their way there.

"For what it is worth I do think that there should be a third-place match." Tokoyami said as they walked. "It would make more sense that way and I saw matches, I would have liked to have tested myself against you Dupain-Cheng."

"As would I though this is for the best for you as I would have won." Marinette said before she lifted her sling up. "Besides, I'm not really in a state to battle at the moment."

"You think so?" Tokoyami asked curiously. "About the winning I mean. This is for the best given your injuries."

"I know so." Marinette said simply. "You are a challenge for me as you can summon Dark Shadow right away so you have the speed on me, which is a weakness of mine, but I can avoid it long enough to use my Quirk and at that point you're done."

"Your Quirk, it lets you create an item you need, right?" Tokoyami asked. "Similar to Yaoyorozu's only with some different aspects to it compared to hers."

"We both have creation Quirks but that is where the similarities end." Marinette said shaking her head. "Mine is more esoteric and complex though. I can't decide what I get, I get what I need to accomplish the task I have in mind when I activate my Quirk. If it is simple like you saw in the battles today then I can use it as is but if it is complex then I need to figure it out though it's been a while since that's happened with the possible exception of a sparring match I had with Momo. Also, my item is temporary and goes in 5 minutes max. So, you see, my Quirk is pretty different."

"I do and against me you would use it to counter Dark Shadow as that is your biggest threat." Tokoyami said understanding now. "So even if you didn't know my weakness, you would likely get something that can generate light because of how your Quirk works, am I right?"

"Correct." Marinette said with a nod that made her head hurt. "I'd likely use it to counter your Quirk and even without knowing myself, my Quirk will give me what I'd need. Against you though I would have had to figure it out had I not known thanks to Bakugo and that would have been your window to beat me. Both Ida and Todoroki were tougher challenges for me as they can act fast, but Ida is straight speed, so my own reflexes helped there. Todoroki was the one who could truly challenge me with his ice as I had to focus on that first."

"I see that does explain a lot and why you are an exchange student." Tokoyami said as they reached the bowels where Recovery Girl and Cementoss. "That said, I can't grow without facing my weakness so I would be honored if you would spar with me sometime so I can see for myself just how good you are and what kind of light your Quirk would generate to counter mine."

"I'd be happy to." Marinette said as they watched Recovery Girl work on Todoroki while Cementoss began to restrain a still unconscious Bakugo on the 1st place platform he'd made. "We are heroes after all so we should be helping each other, especially now that the Sports Festival is over."

"Yes deary, that is the attitude." Recovery Girl said as they reached her having healed Todoroki and bandaged his left forearm that must have been in the injured in the final. "Now bend down so I can help you again."

Marinette did just that and knelt on the ground before Recovery Girl kissed her good cheek and she felt her body's natural healing speed up. The burns lessened and now she was not in any pain but knew that there was more to be done before she was fully healed. She was also really tired again and glad she was kneeling but put her good hand on the ground to steady herself as she felt a strange hand on her shoulder and looked up to see Dark Shadow there smiling it her as he helped keep her in position.

"Here, eat this." Recovery Girl said handing Marinette a protein bar that she quickly ate again and slowly got up with Dark Shadow's help. "It will be time soon."

"What's going on with Bakugo?" Marinette asked as she got up. "And thank you Dark Shadow, Tokoyami, that helped."

"No problem." Dark Shadow said surprising Marinette as she hadn't realized that it could talk. "I got you, any friend of Fumikage is a friend of mine."

"Yes, it was the right thing to do but more respectful having Dark Shadow do it rather than me." Tokoyami said as he retracted Dark Shadow into him, and Marinette assumed that there was a cultural thing behind it. "As for Bakugo, I too am curious as to why he's like that.

Bakugo was currently in a standing position but still unconscious, so he was held in that position by the restraints. Leather straps around his waist held him to the concrete pillar while his hands were in a special metal contraption that extended to his forearms and was no doubt designed to contain a Quirk of his type in them.

There was also a set of black metal restraints on his arms locking his elbows and connected with iron bars to each other. Thick chains extended from the metal restraints to the base of the concrete that covered them to prevent him from moving too much. To cap it all off he had a muzzle like devise over his mouth and nose that would keep him quiet.

"He will be coming to soon, and this was deemed the only way we can have the ceremony given his behavior at the end of the final match." Cementoss said in his low voice. "We have these just in case and sometimes a student needs them when they let tempers get the better of them during the Sports Festival. Given Bakugo's personality, how that match ended, and his no doubt indignation after waking up from Midnight's Quirk he will need it."

"I see, not great but whatever." Marinette said as Bakugo blinked his eyes open.

The precautions were proven right as Bakugo instantly began yelling into his muzzle and thrashing in his bonds the moment he could. However, he couldn't do anything and with Midnight above them he could be subdued quickly if need be. As he was doing this, Cementoss put his hand to the side of his head as he got a message.

"Alright, looks like it's just about time." Cementoss said. "The battlefield has been cleared and restored and students are gathering above so please take you places."

Todoroki had already stepped up and onto the 2nd place podium without saying a word while Marinette hopped up onto the 3rd place podium as Tokoyami stepped up onto it. He stood neared Bakugo as he could act quicker should something happen, and Marinette was still bandaged so she was a little limited at the moment.

"Congratulations." Cementoss said as the crowd above roared them. "You should enjoy this. Few get to stand on this podium, you have done well to get here."

"Thank you." Marinette said as Tokoyami nodded, Bakugo thrashed, and Todoroki looked contemplative about everything that had happened.

Then there was another cheer and the sounds of a gears. The platform was moving and above them a panel opened to show light, confetti, and smoke as it came into the stadium to the cheering crowds and flashing lights from media cameras.

"The first years have now complete all the events of the Sports Festival." Midnight said to the cheering crowd as all the first years gathered on the now cleared ground of the battlefield and the press took pictures from behind them. "Now it is time to relax and enjoy the awards ceremony."

The screen turned to displaying that it was the awards ceremony as celebration music played. A spot behind Midnight suddenly blasted smoke and confetti into the air as a panel no one had seen before was withdrawn and the medal podium appeared while more explosions went off around the lip of the stadium and fireworks went off in the sky above them.

The first odd sign was the large concrete pillar in the middle that held Bakugo who was thrashing and yelling from his restraints. On his right was Todoroki on the second-place platform while on the left stood Tokoyami and Dupain-Cheng showing the shared bronze medal on the lowest third place platform.

"What is going on with Bakugo?" Sero asked as they all stared at him in shock. "He's all chained up."

"Likely been like that since he woke up given what happened." Kirishima said as he thought on Bakugo's personality. "Pull yourself together Bakugo. You won, be happy about that."

"He's acting like a feral animal." Tokoyami muttered and Marinette had to agree with him on this. "This is unbecoming of a U.A. student."

"It's Bakugo." Marinette said with a sigh. "He takes things differently to the rest of us and likely saw how Todoroki ended that final as a slight."

"Now let's break out the hardware." Midnight said interrupting them and striking a pose that was at least not overly sexy but still a bit much for the situation. "Of course, there is only one person worthy of distributing the awards."

At that there was a laugh, and everyone looked up to see All Might laughing atop the lip of the stadium and everyone began to cheer and call his name. It was clearly for show but with All Might he could make an entrance like this, so it was to be expected.

"Citizens, I am here to distribute the medals." All Might said running and leaping off the top of the stadium to land between Midnight and the medal winners on one knee with a loud impact.

"All Might, the number one hero." Midnight said as All Might was speaking himself, so she had finished when he landed behind her in an awkward moment that Midnight realized as she added. "Ruined that didn't I?"

All Might just grumbled from his position. There wasn't much he could do about it, and he had limited time to hold this form anyway so no point in getting too worked up about it as the crowd commented on how lucky the students were to have All Might as their teacher.

"Now that you are here shall we begin the presentation." Midnight said now holding up a tray with 4 medals on it to salvage the situation.

All Might just nodded as he picked up the first medal. All the medals were of the same design, a simple circle with the U.A. logo in the center surrounded by an engraved laurel wreath with a crown at the top between the ends of the wreath. There was an extra bit was above the medal for the red ribbon with a white band in the middle of it. The only differences between them were that two were bronze, one was silver, and the last gold.

All Might started with the first of the two bronzes and walked up the steps that had suddenly appeared to the platform that had Dupain-Cheng and Tokoyami on it. He started with the former.

"Young Dupain-Cheng, congratulations, you showed great resilience out there." All Might said as he placed the bronze medal around her neck careful with her left arm in a sling and her unzipped shirt over it.

"Thank you All Might." Marinette said before he surprised her by stepping up and leaned down hugging her and kissing each cheek the way the French did, something she instinctively responded to happy to share a cultural norm of hers with All Might.

"You've come a long way since arriving and adjusted well after all you have been through." All Might added quietly in heavily accented by surprisingly passable French that surprise Marinette. "I know it hasn't been easy for you and young Agreste, but I hope you are finding your feet and making a home here with us."

"We are, thank you for all that you have done for us since we got here." Marinette said softly sticking to French as well and keeping it slow so that he could understand her. "This festival really showed us we are part of this world now and coming in third is a great honor to me."

"Good to hear." All Might said breaking back from her and switching back to Japanese as Marinette fought back tears and grabbing the other bronze so that no one noticed and going to Tokoyami to put it on him. "Young Tokoyami, you showed great strength out there."

"Your words humble me sir." Tokoyami said seriously as All Might came in to hug him to showing that this was something all would get as Marinette used her good hand to pick up her medal and look at it, smiling at what it meant to her that she'd won it.

"However, you still have more training to do if you hope to face the many different types of villains out there." All Might said softly. "You can't always rely on your Quirk in every battle you know, and I hope that today has taught you about your weakness."

"Yes sir." Tokoyami said seriously as he looked at his bronze medal deep in thought while Marinette let hers fall back to her chest and wiped her eyes to hold back her tears from All Might's words.

It had been hard for her and Adrien to adjust and deal with the situation they were in and keeping it a secret due to the fact that it was so preposterous that no one would believe them made it tougher. However, they had friends again, people who cared for them and looked out for them and they were together, at school, doing what they loved in the open. It was a lot to handle but coming in third was big for Marinette as it showed her that they truly belonged here at last. There was still pain but it would always be there as they moved on and kept doing what they loved.

"Young Todoroki, congratulations." All Might said distracting Marinette from her thoughts as she looked over to see All Might place the silver medal around Todoroki's neck. "I assume there is a reason why you didn't use your left side even if it cost you the final."

"Midoriya opened my eyes in our match but then I began doubting myself when I used my against Dupain-Cheng." Todoroki said softly so that only All Might could hear. "I think I have an idea of why you are so interested in him now. I want to be the kinda hero you are, but my path isn't as clear as I thought it was. I have a lot to think about and I still have to settle things with someone very soon, but the Sports Festival has made me realize all this."

"I've never seen this kinda look on your face before." All Might said before hugging Todoroki and patting his back. "But trust yourself, I am sure that things will work out in the end."

"Right." Todoroki muttered before All Might pulled back.

He went to get the gold medal and approached Bakugo. The boy was still thrashing in his restraints and yelling against the muzzle as he had been doing all ceremony.

"And now, young Bakugo." All Might said as he stood before the angry student and realized he needed to remove the muzzle so did so as he continued speaking. "This is a bit much. Well, you were true to your word in the pledge and won the Sports Festival."

"All Might." Bakugo growled as the muzzle was removed. "Winning first place like this doesn't prove that I am the best one here. Even if the world considers me the winner, I refuse to accept it like this."

As he spoke Bakugo got more and more angry, so much so that All Might recoiled a bit and glanced away. It was clear that the way Todoroki had acted at the end of the final had wounded Bakugo's pride because of how the match ended but he'd still won so All Might was going to give him the gold medal that he'd earned.

"In a world where we are constantly being compared to one another there are very few who can keep their eyes focused on the top spot, but you are one of them young Bakugo." All Might said looking away and then back at Bakugo who was still angrily growling and being scary. "Please accept this medal even if you have to think of it as a scar. Use it and how you won it to get even better then you already are."

"Get that thing away from me." Bakugo roared as All Might tried to put the gold medal around Bakugo's neck, but he lent his head back against the pillar to prevent All Might from doing that. "I don't want that piece of garbage on me."

"Come on now." All Might said catching the strap on Bakugo's nose as he tried to put it on him.

"Get that trash off me." Bakugo roared as the medal band passed his nose and ended up in his mouth and All Might just left it like that as Bakugo bit down on it and at least shut up.

"Here they are, the winners of this year's first year Sports Festival." All Might said turning away and posing in front to podium as all but Bakugo on it stood stoically while he still raged and thrashed against his restraints. "But listen closely, any of you first years could have ended up standing on these podiums. Think about what you've done today. You've challenged each other, learned and grown on your path to becoming heroes or chasing your dreams as you make them a reality. I think the next generation is becoming our most promising one yet. So, I have one more thing to say and I want everyone to yell it with me. You know what it is."

"Plus Ultra!" The crowd roared as All Might said while pointing to the sky. "Thanks for your hard work!"

"WHAT! That was the perfect time to say Plus Ultra All Might." The crowd roared at him.

"Yes but everyone did such a good job." All Might said sheepishly.

With that the Sports Festival ended for them and they went to get changed before heading back to their classroom. There they learned that they had the next two days off and that pros would now want to recruit them so they would be sorting that out when they returned to class. Until then they had the time off to recover and relax before resuming their training. Little did they know what changes were in store for them.

Well, there is the end of the Sports Festival. Sorry that it is a bit anticlimactic but once the final was set it was more about how those in Class A saw the final and then Marinette got her bronze medal and had a moment on the podium as she can now see how she is part of this world with her success in the Sports Festival. Next up it's the internships so get ready for those and what is in store for some of our heroes. However, that is all I have so I will end this chapter here.
