Here it is, the seventy-third full chapter of Miraculous Quirks released on the set day that I promised each week. This is a nice, short (by my standards) chapter that is the transition from the meeting into the start of the fighting part of the Overhaul arc so there isn't much to say here about it. As such, that is all the administrative stuff I have for now though and as there are no review questions to answer or guest reviews to respond to I will end this note here. Do keep the reviews coming as I enjoy hearing from y'all. Now, though, it is time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the 73rd full chapter of Miraculous Quirks.
Disclaimer: I do not own either of these great works of fiction.
Chapter 73: Waiting Sucks
The U.A. students all sat around a table in an open plan area of Nighteye Agency a few stories above where there briefing had been held that they'd gone to after it ended. They'd come here when things had broken up in part because they weren't needed for the smaller sessions as their bosses would handle that stuff and in part to just dissect it themselves. Mr. Aizawa would probably come and see them, he was their teacher after all, but until then they had a moment to themselves.
The table was just large enough to fit them all, albeit a little uncomfortably with the Big 3 at one end, Amajiki at the head with Togata on his right and Hado on his left, while Marinette sat at the other head with Momo on her right and Adrien on her left leaving the sides segregated by gender as Tsu and Ochaco were next to Momo while Midoriya and Kirishima were next to Adrien in that order.
There was a somber pall over the table as they sat, and they all knew why. Izuku and Togata had been the ones to find Eri and had in the end had been forced to watch her return with Chisaki despite clearly not wanting to. It was the right call in the moment though at the time they didn't know what the theory was regarding Chisaki, Eri's body, and the Quirk destroying bullets. After the meeting though they knew that the theory was true, and the air was heavy around the boys.
No one had spoken for a few moments after they sat down until finally the silence was broken. It was Izuku who did it, looking down at the table as he spoke what he'd been feeling ever since he'd first met Eri.
"If only I'd rescued her then, even if I had to use force to do it then at least she'd be safe." Izuku said the regret and remorse deep in his voice. "She didn't want to go back but she did because she knew the danger of rescuing her, but I should have done more, I know it."
"Oh man so that's what happened that day." Kirishima said and they all knew what he was talking about, the day Izuku had had his first patrol and since when he'd been so distracted in school due to what he saw as his failure to save Eri. "So frustrating."
"We know you tried Deku." Ochaco said softly, her tone gentle and kind as could tell her best friend was in a lot of pain at what he'd failed to do and resisting the urge to reach across the table to take his hand as that would be a little improper, impractical as she wasn't opposite him, and would be giving into her locked away feelings too much. "No one is doubting that you did, and we know that you'll do anything to save her this time around."
"If this guy's Quirk is as they say it is then there wasn't much that could have been done at the time." Marinette said her tone soft and comforting as she did her best to reassure Midoriya. "As hard as it was, this way we have a chance to save Eri because you found her and notified Nighteye about it. That means a lot."
The others all understood that though no one spoke for another moment. The sadness and remorse from the boys who's found Eri was heavy in the air and even the other members of the Big 3 knew that this was deathly serious as they'd never seen Togata like this before.
They were all thinking of what they'd learned and what the bastard Chisaki was doing to Eri. The moods of the boys had affected all of them and they were so deep in thought that they almost missed the elevator opening and Mr. Aizawa walking into the area having finished up with his business downstairs.
"Is this a funeral or something?" Their teacher asked them as they looked to him. "You are all too morose right now."
"Mr. Aizawa." Tsu said noticing him first and greeting her homeroom teacher. "Hello sir."
"Call me Eraser Head outside of school, this is hero business so use my hero name." Mr. Aizawa said as he approached them at the table. "You know, it's just my luck. Before you got involved in this I was going to recommend that your work studies be suspended."
"What!" Kirishima said standing as the others gasped in shock. "Why would you do that sir?"
"You were listening when Centipeder said that the League of Villains was involved, right?" Aizawa asked them rhetorically. "That alone drastically changes things."
Aizawa paused to let his words be understood. The League was something else entirely and given their actions against U.A. and most of the students present involvement against them in those actions it was something that they all had to understand.
"Here's the deal." Aizawa said rubbing his head. "Midoriya, you still haven't proven that I can trust you again after that fight with Bakugo while Yaoyorozu, Dupain-Cheng, and Kirishima were also involved in Kamino so you three also have a ways to go before you re-earn it. Agreste, I know all about Hosu and your role in what went down there so you're also not exactly in the good books either. However, I also know that if I try to stop any of you, especially you Midoriya, you will do something reckless and attempt to take things into your own hands like some of you have done in the past."
At that Aizawa took a few steps forward and squatted down in front of Midoriya, looking him dead in the eye as he did. The boy needed to hear this so that he could be the best hero that he could be and though Aizawa wouldn't admit it, he knew that Izuku Midoriya would be a great hero when he was fully trained for it.
"So, instead of stopping you I'll watch you." Aizawa said as he made a fist with his right hand and extended it to rest on Izuku's heart. "If you're going to see this through then you've got to do it the right way. Use your head, I know how smart you can be when you apply yourself so show it this time. Do you hear me, problem child?"
"Yes sir." Izuku said with a nod doing everything he could to not cry at his teacher's words of encouragement and support.
"Good." Aizawa said as Amajiki turned to his best friend who was still looking at the table.
"Mirio will you please try to smile." Amajiki said. "We need your strength now more than ever."
"Hey, hey I know what will help you." Hado said holding her hands out to Togata but not touching him as she couldn't reach, and it might come off as a little improper. "Just remember that regretting something and getting all frowny doesn't change things, you know it better than any of us."
"Yeah." Togata said understanding his friend's words as he hardened his resolve and began to get serious about making up for his mistakes.
"I'll only say this once in case it gives a little peace of mind." Aizawa said as he lowered his arm. "Just because you didn't hold onto her this time doesn't mean that you didn't give Eri hope for the future. The fact that you saw here and showed concern and a willingness to rescue her then and there will give her a hope that she will hold on to. It will give her the strength she needs when we come and rescue her. So, keep looking forward, all of you."
"Right." Izuku said understanding his teacher's words and taking them to heart.
"Mr. Aizawa." Ochaco said with a smile at the words her teacher was saying and realizing just how much more he was than their stern homeroom teacher, he was a seasoned pro after all.
"I said that I'm Eraser Head here." Mr. Aizawa said in a slightly annoyed tone. "I'm not your teacher right now but a pro hero who will be accompanying you on this mission."
"I'm your man for the rest of your life Eraser." Kirishima said causing Aizawa to groan at that and the fact that the boy was still standing from earlier.
"Not interested." Aizawa said.
"Calm down Kirishima." Momo said as Kirishima apologized for his enthusiastic outburst. "Just remember what Eraser Head said and use it when the time comes."
"Mirio." Amajiki said looking to his old friend.
"Yeah I know." Togata said rising to his feet a smile on his face again while Marinette had to resist the urge to check for a little white dog, seriously this whole Tintin look was going to really annoy her. "Midoriya, next time we'll definitely save her."
"We will, no matter what." Izuku said with a nod getting to his feet as well.
"Don't get too worked up about this." Aizawa said as Togata sat down though Kirishima and Midoriya were still on their feet. "The Big 3 are one thing, their strong enough to hold their own out there with the pros, as are Dupain-Cheng and Agreste if their records are as accurate as the Principal assures me they are, but the rest of you will be minimally involved."
"Wait hold on." Kirishima said sounding confused. "We all know how good those two are, me personally from getting knocked out of the Sports Festival by Agreste, and after Kamino and the licensing exam it's not really a question at this point that Dupain-Cheng is the top of the class when it comes to combat but we're all in the same class. They can't be that much better than us? Can they? Both lost in the Sports Festival to Bakugo and Todoroki after all."
"Dupain-Cheng, care to elaborate." Aizawa said realizing his slight slipup, but Nezu had assured him that should it come up he was allowed to disclose this though he felt it was best that the French pair do so themselves. "I think now that there is a mission on hand, and that you will both have to play roles in it given your Quirks' importance out there, that you can divulge a bit more about how Francois Dupont does things."
"Right." Marinette said as she rose to look at her friends and bowed deeply to them in apology, Adrien doing the same before rising to look at them. "I want to preface this with the fact that this doesn't mean we are any stronger in terms of physical strength, as Kirishima pointed out we can be beaten in battle. Rather, what Eraser Head is referring to is our experience."
"Oh right." Momo said playing into it a bit. "The system is different in Europe, it starts earlier, right?"
"Correct." Marinette said as she began to give this part of the cover story, one that was considered classified so the class wouldn't have known though they at least knew of their earlier training just not the extent of it. "We start hero training at 13 not 15, which is actually a year earlier than the Americans do, and it is in fact part of why Adrien and I are considered akin to recommended students. However, that training isn't limited to the classroom. Due to the secret nature of Francois Dupont, we actually received the French equivalent to provisional licenses during our first year though the restrictions are greater than they are here."
"It allows us to basically shadow a pro and work with them in emergencies." Adrien said taking over for a moment. "But due to the ages and risks the fact that we are students is a classified secret known only to a select few and we don't use hero names in the field the way we do in hero classes so there are no records. It's why, in some situations, Marinette and I have seemed to be more composed I guess."
"Like how you were in Hosu." Izuku said understanding now why he'd noticed how both Agreste and Dupain-Cheng had, at different times, came off as closer to pros than students. "And the way Dupain-Cheng was in the forest."
"It was the same in the USJ with how Marinette create a drone to surveil the area before sending Adrien to save Kyoka, Kaminari, and myself." Momo added in part to back them up and in part to deflect any chance of suspicion coming her way that she knew more than she let on. "All those times at least one or both of you acted as if you had seen combat and engaged villains or challenges without hesitation. We wanted to ask but, well, so much has happened."
"And all we'd have been able to say was that we had similar things to internships when we were in Paris." Marinette said. "So, we are sorry that we didn't tell you of our experiences more beforehand."
"Yeah it wasn't our intention to mislead you about this." Adrien said though given what else they were misleading almost all present about it did sound a bit hollow to him. "I hope that you can forgive us for this."
"There's no need for any of that." Tsu said to them in her usual blunt fashion. "We understand that the European system is different to the Japanese one so there were bound to be things you couldn't say. We all knew about the whole secret identity thing you guys dealt with before U.A. so having something like this makes sense."
"Yeah and if you couldn't say then you couldn't say, we all have things we can't talk about for various reasons." Ochaco said with a smile at Marinette which Marinette returned knowing that Ochaco was referencing their private chat a few weeks back regarding Ochaco's secret and how sometimes things had to be kept as such. "And we're honored that you can share with us now."
"I will add to what they have said that this constitutes a reading in on a classified aspect of the French hero educational system that is not public knowledge and as such you are now bound to not reveal it." Aizawa said and they all nodded in agreement at that. "Good now, Uraraka, Asui, Kirishima, Yaoyorozu. You four either didn't volunteer for this or in your classmates' case were specially requested by Nighteye so you are not obligated to participate in this mission, it's your call."
"Sir." Momo said getting to her feet and looking at her teacher. "I may not have been requested but I am in the same work study as Marinette and Adrien, I will be by their sides and help them and all the heroes to rescue Eri."
"Yes Mr. I mean Eraser Head after everything we just heard I can't imagine not helping out." Ochaco said rising and slamming her hands on the table. "It's a heroes duty to help and that's what we are all training to become, heroes."
"Yeah if you're going to let us be a part of this then I'd like to pitch in and help however I can." Tsu said her finger on her chin and deciding to leave why Momo was now using Agreste's first name for another time. "Eri will need as many people trying to help her as possible so if I can do anything to help I will."
"The heroes asked you to be in that meeting." Amajiki said not looking at them as he spoke. "I don't think they would have wanted you to be there if they didn't recognize your abilities. I mean I've seen for myself that a first year can shine much brighter than me and that one can pose a legitimate threat to Mirio, so I know that you lot are worthy."
"You're going to have to let what happened with Kirishima go at some point you know." Hado said. "Though I do agree about Dupain-Cheng, who'd have thought that someone would have a Quirk that could actively counter Togata's the way hers can."
"If I can use my power to help that girl even a little bit then count me in Eraser Head." Kirishima said hardening his hands and arms and slamming them together for emphasis as he spoke. "It's what a man would do."
"As long as you all understand that our scope here is limited." Aizawa said seriously not surprised at all that his students were deciding to partake in the mission. "For now, our only goal is to rescue Eri, we won't step in further than that. Given the recent altercation neither the police nor Nighteye believe that the League of Villains and Shie Hassaikai have formed a partnership so the chances are relatively low that the League will be involved in this raid but if it turns out that they are involved, and the league does end up appearing then you guys are out. The same goes for any foreign national that is found, that is Mage's domain and he will deal with them personally. It is why he's been requested after all."
"Understood sir." The four who'd just confirmed their decision to join the mission said in unison.
"Alright good." Aizawa said knowing that there would probably be more to say to them but that could wait until the day of the attack. "Then let's get back to school. You have class and training to do for this. Agreste, given the importance of Cataclysm to this raid and the need for you to have more control over it after what I saw when you and Togata faced off at the end of his little sparring session with the class you will be doing your gym sessions with Cementoss in a different gym alone. That way you can unleash and practice without getting in anyone's way."
"Thank you sir." Adrien said glad to hear that. "I will do my best, but may I request that Momo join me should I need her assistance. There are two things I wish to work on perfecting and her Quirk is perfect for the second thing."
"Should you need Miss Yaoyorozu she will be allowed to join you." Aizawa said as the others rose Momo a little surprised at Adrien's request but willing to assist him in any way she could, as well as surprising a few others with his use of her first name. "Let's just hope that this mission doesn't come to the point that we need to unleash your Quirk on a wide area."
No more words were needed as they all followed their teacher to grab their bags and head out of the agency and back to school. Their respective bosses had told them they were dismissed and to be on standby as they awaited the call in while the full-time heroes did the legwork so that was all they could do, train. All of them intended to do just that so that when the call came they would be at their best to rescue Eri.
The next few days weren't easy for the 7 in Class 1-A that were part of the Hassaikai raid. The pro heroes were working hard to try and find out where they were keeping Eri so the students were on standby until then and for obvious reasons they couldn't discuss anything to do with their work studies with the rest of the class. To alleviate that they trained hard during gym sessions to be in the best shape possible for when the call came be it in physical training or Quirk training.
6 of them were with the rest of the class and showing off a determination that the others didn't have at the moment as they pushed themselves as hard as they could while not overdoing it. Only Adrien wasn't with them as he needed seclusion for his training so he was in another gym where Cementoss had a ready supply of fresh cement so that he could train hard on mastering what he had in mind.
Mage had once said to Adrien and Marinette that the only limitation on their power was their own imagination. That had been what had allowed Marinette to change her item during her activation period if her goals changed and to create her changeable mech suit as an ultimate move. That said, Marinette knew that she had to remember her basics as that was the core of her power and not overcomplicate things before activating her Quirk, that was for the item her Quirk created. For Adrien, however, that meant working on something he'd long been planning to work on but hadn't yet had the time.
When Mage had given them his advice Adrien had first focused on being able to produce Cataclysm anywhere on his body and keeping it going for the max his time limit allowed and then pushing past that limit. Now he was focusing on something else he'd wanted to do as that was what was going to be key to how he could contribute to the raid. He'd already seen some proof that he could do it, now he was working hard to properly master it. It was slow going but he was getting there, and he knew that all this work would pay off in the end.
The rest of the class just marveled at how hard those in their work studies were training, it was clear to all who had started them just from that alone. Bakugo of course demanded that they tell him what they were learning but they couldn't, they just had to ignore them and get ready for when the go call was received.
Yet this was all that they could do, and it was starting to weigh on some of them, especially Izuku of those in Class 1-A. Between the whole failing to save Eri stuff and the dynamics of Nighteye and All Might's relationship and the reason for their estrangement it was all almost too much. Izuku was pushing forward as hard as he could but as he sat there looking at his food while at lunch a few days into their wait it was finally starting to overwhelm him.
When you added in that they could no longer talk about their work studies and Izuku couldn't even talk to his friends about it what was bothering him. Sure, he had those in the mission with him like Agreste, who was opposite him at lunch as the four from Hosu all ate together at least once a week, but this was too open for them to talk and there were too many potential ears for it in the dorms to talk there. He needed to focus for Eri's sake so that he could rescue her, but his mind was all over the place and his vision of his still untouched katsudon was starting to blur as he felt the tears begin to form in his eyes.
"Midoriya." Agreste said suddenly breaking him from his thoughts and causing him to look up at the French boy across the table from him who looked concerned having stopped eating his meat heavy French dish, a requirement right now given how hard he was pushing his Quirk. "You haven't touched your food, what's the matter?"
"Yeah aren't you going to eat?" Todoroki asked looking over from Ida's other side, there had been a few others at the table when they'd arrived at it thus forcing this arrangement. "It's not good to skip meals, especially with how hard we all train."
They'd half expected some of the girls who were on the mission with them to join but they were all eating on their own table elsewhere in the lunchroom. The remining 3 girls in the class had joined them but the reason for it was, unbeknownst to all but Adrien, that Marinette was the one orchestrating it as a way to keep her eye on the other girls in the class. She'd finally come to accept her place as their de facto leader so when she suggested that they have a girls only meal at least once a week, as well as a girls tea and macaroons debrief one night a week, they'd all listened to her.
Marinette for her part was concerned with the others in their mission. Sure, she trusted that Momo would be fine given all the training they'd done, her own personal experiences, and how Momo understood exactly who Marinette was, it was the others that she was worried about.
Neither Tsu nor Ochaco had had a real encounter like this, they'd never really been on the frontlines of the past skirmishes other than Ochaco's brief scuffle with Himiko Toga in the woods and their one villain dust up at the start of their work study had been simple. This time, however, they were dealing with a monster on a scale not even Marinette understood. Then, when you factored in Midoriya's deep involvement and Ochaco's feelings for him and, well, she needed to be there for her girls right now.
Adrien understood Marinette's reasoning for this, and it didn't bother him. They were each other's rocks to deal with their own situation, one that they'd long since reached as close to a peace as they could with it and were moving on for their friends and families, and they would always be there for each other. The others in their class however had yet to really deal with a serious adversity that would need support from friends to cope with though Ida had come close thanks to Stain and Adrien had helped Todoroki deal with some issues in the past.
All that was why they didn't need to be at the same table right now. They had to look out for their classmates, Marinette for the girls and Adrien for Izuku though Kirishima might need it as well at some point. Besides, the bonds that Adrien and Izuku had forged, along with Ida and Todoroki, from their battle with Stain in Hosu were stronger than any in the class right now besides the one between Adrien and Marinette but nothing was going to be as strong as that bond.
"Are you sure you're ok?" Ida asked as he set down his orange juice while Izuku began to eat fast to show that he was ok though none of them were buying it. "You've seemed a bit off for a few weeks now."
"You've been acting edgy and depressed ever since you started your work study." Todoroki said as he slurped up some of the cold soba that he enjoyed.
"That's saying something come from the edge lord of the class himself." Adrien said with a grin. "Don't worry Shoto, you're title is safe in that regard though I hear that there is a hero who uses that moniker."
"I'm just saying I know what that's like." Todoroki said ignoring Agreste's light banter but appreciating it as it did help lighten the mood and add to what he had to say. "I don't want to see a friend go through it like I did if it can be avoided."
"Oh really, I didn't realize." Izuku said stopping his eating and picking up the meat in his meal with his chopsticks but pausing and unable to do anything more as he thought until a swiping sound was heard and Ida put his arm out to get Izuku's attention.
"If you ever want to talk just let me know." Ida said with a smile. "We're friends, right? That's what you said to me back when we were heading off to our internships when I was acting like a fool. I didn't head your advice then and we know how that ended up but, well, you can now if you want."
"Ida is right." Adrien said. "Talking does help, though I know we can't speak right now, but when this is over we will be able to, and we'll be there if you need us Midoriya. Keeping an eye on one's mental well-being is just as important as your physical one after all. Heroes need help like this just as much as anyone else would and we're all still teens, we're not fully ready for this mentally so it will take time. For now, think on the good we will do and use that to fuel you for what is to come."
That was the tipping point for Izuku, and he started to cry. Not his usual heavy waterworks but a small, sad, sniffle as he looked down so that only his friends saw it. That did get the others to freak out a bit, well Ida did while Todoroki was just concerned but Adrien just smiled. It was a good sign that Izuku was feeling this and able to let it out a little, it was healthy for the moment though maybe not the right situation and would serve him better than bottling it all up.
"That's it, don't be ashamed to let your guard down every now and then." Adrien said with a smile. "We're all human after all, we're all friends, so you can let it all out whenever."
"Yeah, it's ok." Izuku said as he rubbed his eyes to dry them comforted by Agreste's words and knowing that he couldn't tell the other two what was going on just yet, but he was grateful to have such good friends supporting him as he scarfed down the rest of his food before putting the bowl down and trying to hold back his feelings of regret and remorse that were threatening to overwhelm him. "Heroes aren't supposed to cry."
"I don't know." Todoroki said looking at his soba as he spoke. "I figured that heroes cry when they need to, don't they?"
"Shoto is right there." Adrien said a little surprised that it was the usually expressionless Todoroki who'd made the point before anyone else while Mineta sat on his other side not listening to them due to trying to get a peek at a General Studies girl who's blouse wasn't buttoned right for some reason. "Crying is natural for humans and bottling things up isn't healthy, that's why they have professionals for the mind as well as the body. Sure, there will be times when you can't do so but you just need to hold it in until you can let it all out. Take it from someone who's bottled up negative feelings in the past, it's not something you want to do or how you want to see the world."
"Huh." Izuku said looking up to see a mix of understanding and sorrow in Agreste's green eyes, a deep-seated sadness that he'd never seen there before and really showed just how much more experienced he was compared to the others. "What do you…"
"Do you want half of my soba?" Todoroki suddenly offered, he actually did know a bit about Agreste's past and how similar it was to his own, though at least he still had his mother around, so if the boy didn't want to go into it in such a public place he'd shift the conversation away from it and help Midoriya out in the process. "I got too much anyway."
"And how about some of my beef stew." Ida added with a smile.
"Yeah sure, thanks." Izuku said as his friends shared their favorite dishes with him and some sides though Adrien didn't offer anything as he went back to his meal.
"Sorry, you know I need to keep this up for my Quirk." Adrien said and Izuku nodded understanding why Agreste couldn't share right now, he was working his ass off to be ready just like Izuku was and Agreste's Quirk required he eat a lot to keep his energy levels high. "My training regime is brutal at the moment, so I need to really keep up my calorie and protein intakes."
"Yeah you've really been going all out with that it seems." Todoroki said hoping to change the topic and managing it though more because Izuku didn't want to ask now after what had just happened, but he would later, and Adrien was already planning on being as honest as he could with his friend about it. "What exactly are you doing that is keeping you from training with the rest of us?"
"You guys know how strong Cataclysm is and what it can do." Adrien said. "It's a dangerous Quirk even if it can only work on inorganic material so in order to improve it and create a true ultimate move I need to have the freedom to truly unleash it without worrying that I may destabilize the gym or get in the way of everyone else's training regimes. I know you saw how I held off Togata, Shoto, so you understand why Aizawa had to stop me back then."
"Yeah I remember." Todoroki said recalling how Adrien was the only one to manage to stay standing when Togata had fought the rest of the class and how he'd unleashed Cataclysm right at the end of the fight though Todoroki already knew how strong Agreste was, he had a front row seat to that fight with Gang Orca after all. "You probably could have brought the whole gym down by destroying the ground if you'd continued."
"Yup so I need to be in a place where I can be away from others to maximize my training." Adrien said. "That is why I'm alone with Cementoss, it really helps me work on it without constraints and as I'm allowed my mask for it I can really go plus ultra without worry because all Cementoss needs to do is add more cement when I'm done to stabilize things. Mo, Yaoyorozu, will be joining me today though as I think I'm properly ready for the next stage of my training and she's the best to work with on that and it can help her Quirk as well."
"That is what U.A. is for so allowing you to do that makes sense." Ida said with a nod of approval. "I hope we get to see what it is going to be like one day though of course don't expect us to be slouches, we will catch up to, and attempt to surpass you and Dupain-Cheng for that matter, we all know how strong she is."
"Iron sharpens Iron." Adrien said with a grin at the challenge. "That is how we will all get better, and you will see it one day. My lady isn't the only one with a few tricks up her sleeves and I am her exact opposite in a lot of ways."
The others just nodded at that. They knew Adrien well by this point, they knew and understood that he was a match for Dupain-Cheng even if he didn't show it as much given her habit of taking things to whole new levels without realizing it. They just didn't know how much he'd improved but in time they'd learn and realize that in combat Adrien Agreste might not lose to Bakugo if they ever had a rematch.
Finally, the call came in late at night two days after Izuku's near mental breakdown over lunch. By that point they were all near breaking and unable to concentrate though at least Adrien felt that he was ready for what was to come even if he wasn't fully there just yet. Now at last, as they were in bed but unable to sleep, their phones went off with the message they'd all been waiting for.
All 7 headed downstairs with the message, none bothering to change out of their sleep clothes, to meet up. It was interesting seeing each other like this with Kirishima's hair down flat as there was no gel in it right now, Tsu's in an elaborate bun, Ochaco's with a cowlick right above her parting that Izuku would have called cute had it not been for the seriousness of the situation, Momo's down but straight and Marinette's still in her now trademark twin pigtails that only those in Kamino had ever seen properly down. The only two who didn't look any different were Izuku and Adrien.
"You all got it?" Kirishima asked looking around as all had their phones out.
"We got it." Tsu confirmed as Ochaco nodded.
"It's happening." Izuku said.
"At last." Adrien added. "Let's get ready, we have a girl to save."
The others nodded as Aizawa and the Big 3 all got their own messages about it causing Togata to meet up outside with Hado and Amajiki as he was in the other hero class to them. At last, it was time. They were to head to wash and then Nighteye Agency right away but in school uniform for the final briefing on the rescuing of Eri. The mission to save an abused little girl had officially begun.
I think that is a good place to leave off this nice, short, sorta filler/transition chapter, as we all get ready for the chaos that will be the raid and all that that arc and the several chapters in it will entail. There really isn't much to say about this chapter as it was a simple one though we are seeing Adrien and Marinette begin to show more of their overall experience and that will be important going forward. Anyway, that is all I have for this chapter and y'all know what is coming next so there isn't anything else to say so I'll leave it off here. As always, if you like it or have any questions please let me know in reviews or PMs, I will try to answer them as best I could and post any questions asked between uploads at the start of the next chapter and do follow and favorite this, so you are alerted to future uploads. Do keep the reviews coming as I like hearing from y'all as you enjoy my work, it motivates me to keep producing the best work I can for y'all to enjoy. Until next time.
