Here it is, the ninety-first full chapter of Miraculous Quirks released on the right day as promised. This is the penultimate transition chapter before we jump into the next arc of the story as what was supposed to be just a brief start to the next chapter morphed into a chapter on its own so that is coming next before we fully get into the season 5 material. Like some of the prior chapters this one is based of an anime only episode with Marinette and Adrien's involvement and should prepare us for the upcoming arc and that that will contain but y'all are going to have to wait another week before we kick that arc off. That is all the administrative stuff I have for now though and as there are no review questions to answer or guest reviews to respond to I will end this note here. Do keep the reviews coming as I enjoy hearing from y'all. Now, though, it is time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the 91st full chapter of Miraculous Quirks.
Disclaimer: I do not own either of these great works of fiction.
Chapter 91: Sudden Hero Training
The schools bells were ringing to signal that the school day was about to start and that students should be in their homerooms already and ready for classes to begin. For Class 1-A this was the case as they were all gathered in their classroom as they waited for their teacher to arrive to start another day at U.A. As they waited they chatted and there was only one thing that any of them could talk about, the battle in Kyushu that day before.
Yesterday, after the reveal of the current hero rankings, Endeavor, now officially the Number 1 hero, had gone to Kyushu with Hawks, the now official Number 2 hero's jurisdiction as his agency was in the city of Fukuoka in Kyushu, for reasons that were still unknown. That was mainly because while there a bio engineered Nomu, one that was according to reports stronger and smarter than the one All Might had bested at the USJ, had suddenly attacked the top 2 heroes.
In an intense and destructive battle that left part of the city damage, though nowhere near as bad as Kamino had been in the wake of All Might's final battle with All for One, Endeavor had been badly injured and almost bested but had prevailed in the end. He'd killed the Nomu, an act only sanctioned by the villain's class level and the threat that it posed, and stood victorious to show that Japan still had a symbol to look to.
It had been a decisive and needed victory for the heroes in the wake of All Might's retirement so naturally it was all the class could talk about. Add in that Endeavor's son was in their class and, well, it was inevitable that they'd discuss it though at least some where being tactful about it.
"Man, Endeavor was unreal yesterday, wasn't he?" Kaminari asked Kirishima. "Really showed his stuff against that Nomu just like All Might did but in his own way."
"Yeah, I was scared stiff when he was knocked down, that was a heavy hit he took." Kirishima said. "But then he got up and kept fighting, it was so manly to watch. That took guts to manage and then to stand tall when he won despite his injuries, it's an inspiration to us all."
As Kirishima had been talking he made the pose Endeavor had made, right fist raise, his eyes closed and tears in the corners of them. It was a pose that all now knew and when you add in that it was the other fist to All Might's famous final pose after his victory in Kamino, well it was a sign of how Endeavor had truly taken the mantle of Number 1 and made it his own.
"That is why he's the top hero now." Ojiro said with a nod. "And after that, I doubt there will be a challenge to him for a while, Hawks and Jeanist just can't compete with that kind of victory as they lack Endeavor's raw power."
"True but don't forget that Hawks was amazing too." Ochaco added. "He really aided Endeavor in that fight, and he was the one rescuing all the civilians so that Endeavor could focus on the Nomu."
"Not to mention how dreamy Hawks is." Toru added and while she did think that part of her, a part she wouldn't admit to just yet, was hoping one of the class would get jealous at that and notice her as more than a friend like he currently did. "You can see why he's number 2 in popularity as well as the Number 2 overall."
"There is a reason that people say that he's too fast for his own good however." Sero said to try and calm the girls down from their Hawks fangirling. "But in that instance his speed was key to saving many lives."
As Sero was speaking the door opened and Todoroki walked in having been the only one of the class not yet present. That was too be expected after what had happened, he would need to be informed on his father's condition after the battle and the school would want to make sire that he was mentally ok as well as that battle had been televised nationally.
"Your old man did well yesterday." Adrien said as Todoroki walked in and towards his desk. "He good after that beating?"
Adrien was leaning casually against the back wall of the classroom waiting for class to start while Marinette sat at her desk in front of him so Todoroki, who sat in front of Marinette, would have to pass Adrien to reach his own desk. The French pair had opted not to get too involved in this chat, but they were keen to make sure that Todoroki was ok, especially Adrien as he was pretty close with the two-tone boy after what they went through in Hosu, and the words Adrien had said to Todoroki after the licensing exam.
Naturally, both Midoriya and Ida came over as well to make sure that Todoroki was good. Between the four of them they had a bond forged in blood, so they looked out for each other at times when one of them needed it. First it had been Ida in Hosu, then Midoriya during the Hassaikai investigation, and now it seemed like Todoroki might need some words.
"Yeah is Endeavor doing alright?" Izuku asked. "That blow looked serious."
"Yeah it seems like it isn't serious though I think he's going to have a nasty scar from it." Todoroki said in his usual tone. "He should be back in action soon."
"That's good to hear." Izuku said letting out a sigh of relief.
"You can be pretty proud of your pops now, huh." Mineta said from where he was sitting on Todoroki's desk for some reason while Momo sat at her desk next to Todoroki's and look at him with concern in her eyes to make sure that he was truly ok. "He really showed that he's the new Number 1 hero."
"Actions do speak louder than words." Adrien said looking at Todoroki seriously, as did Izuku who also knew how messed up Todoroki's relationship with his father was. "And those were some serious actions yesterday."
"Yes, you and Midoriya have taught me that a fair bit this year when it comes to backing up words with actions." Todoroki said which confused some of the people in their group, mainly Mineta and Shoji who had joined them, but Marinette, Ida and Momo understood to some extent though for differing reasons. "I can be proud of what Endeavor the hero did yesterday, that is true."
It was a strange statement, but Izuku smiled at it as it showed Todoroki was making progress with his daddy issues and just let his friend pass so that he could take his seat. As he did the door at the front of the room slid open signaling that Mr. Aizawa was coming in which meant that they all had to be in their seats. He'd barely mentioned that the bell had rung before they were already there, an impressive feat for some of them, but after more than a semester of training it wasn't hard for them to get to their seats in seconds.
"Good." Aizawa said as he made his way to the lectern and looked out over the class. "Because it's time to stop playing around and get more serious, hopefully after the events in Kyushu yesterday you can understand why that is. Things are going to get harder because even though you only have provisional licenses, you have been given the certification to act as heroes in an official capacity. Well, at least most of you have managed that. Two of you remain in supplemental courses to get your provisional licenses."
They all knew who those where, the shock of two of the top combat students in the class, arguably the top two if Marinette hadn't proven that she was potentially better than both of them at this point in the year, failing the licensing exam had long since worn off. Still Todoroki was stoic in being called out on his failure, he'd long since owned it and accepted that he had to restore his honor for the dishonor he'd brought on himself and the class with his actions that led to his failure while Bakugo just let out a tch sound and left it at that.
"As such, from this moment on we'll be kicking your training up a notch so be prepared for anything." Aizawa continued after his words had sunk in. "Now then, for today's homeroom…"
Before Aizawa could finish the room suddenly went dark and two red beacons folded out of the wall above the board on either side of the clock as an alarm began to blare. No one had seen this particular feature before but, well, it was U.A. so they weren't too surprised and just sat calmly waiting for what was going on. That was almost instantly answered as a voice that sounded a lot like the Principal's began to speak from a hidden speaker in the room.
"Emergence drill, repeat, emergency drill." The voice said in a calm tone which instantly got the class on edge. "Hypothetical villains have infiltrated U.A. High School Grounds. Assistance from Hero Course Class 1-A requested. They were last seen in Ground Beta."
As he was speaking the costume cases quickly shot out of the wall in the classroom where they were kept. It was clear that this was to be taken seriously and already several members of the class were getting to their feet, mainly those nearest the cases to quickly get them to the right classmate.
"Please change into hero costumes and report as soon as possible." The voice continued. "Treat this as if it was real and act accordingly."
"You heard the announcement everyone." Ida said taking charge as the class rep. "Let's do…"
"Alright this is exactly why I altered my uniform." Marinette suddenly yelled as she leapt up from her seat with enough force to send her chair backwards into the wall and managed to just about catch herself to say the second half in French so that most wouldn't understand it and the ones who did would either know what she was referring to or in Aoyama's case just brush it off as something from France that Marinette picked up while at school there. "Time for my new Spots On! Kitty, grab my case."
With that Marinette surprised everyone by grabbing the point her blazer, tie and shirt met in her right hand and yanking them with her enhanced strength, literally ripping all 3 items clean off her body by grabbing the point were all met. At the same time, she reached her left hand to her waist to unclasp her skirt at the side having removed the elastic and made it more a fitted skirt for such a quick release, it was what she'd incorporated into her concert outfit so she figured it would work for her school skirt as well and kicked off her indoor shoes.
To facilitate all this Marinette never wore tights, though she had requested several pairs of socks to be made of the same special fabric as her normal bras and panty shorts though in an appropriate color for school with the ability to meld with her costume, something the Guardians could easily do apparently. All this ensured that she could change into her costume in as quick a time as possible as it was always on her and today she was finally getting to properly field test her rapid change.
She showed this by moving her right hand and slapping it down on her abdomen the moment she was free of her now ruined top half of her school uniform, which she'd conveniently tossed at Mineta to obscure his vision of her in just a bra and panties for a moment. The rest of the class got that in full, however, causing many to blush and Jiro to stab Kaminari in the ear with her earphone jack. Her middle finger hit her Miraculous and instantly it expanded before the costume covered her body as usual leaving her exposed for only a few seconds.
Marinette didn't even look as she held out her left hand while her costume was forming and caught her case by the handle that Adrien had tossed to her. She slammed it down on her desk, flipped the latches, and pulled out her items from within. First she slapped on the utility belt she'd worn since the start of the year, the newest addition to the costume based off her old Ladybug outfit, and quickly affixed her mask. Then she grabbed her yo-yo, slammed the case shut and tossed it at the door to latch the handle and yank it open with a sideways tug showing her skill with her support weapon.
"Come on, we have to hurry." Marinette said to the class as she yanked her yo-yo back to her and ran to the door, tossing the yo-yo again at the window opposite it to crack it. "Cat Noir and I will meet you there with an initial assessment as best we can manage."
All the rest of the class and Aizawa could do was blink as they heard the glass first crack and then shatter a moment later showing that Marinette had just leapt through said window, shoulder charging it with all her strength as she went to ensure it broke. It was a strange sight made only strange by a fully costumed Adrien following her less than 10 seconds later.
Adrien had changed almost as fast though he'd actually used Cataclysm to destroy his entire uniform right before he touched his ring so that his costume formed as his uniform was destroyed thus not exposing himself in just his special boxer briefs though all eyes were on Marinette regardless. He'd then grabbed Marinette's case, tossed it to her, and gotten his own. His delay after her had been to sort out his own items, which took a few seconds more than Marinette's, and grab his baton before following her out.
"Well, that was unorthodox, but I can't fault them for that as I've known Midnight to be even more explicit when she changes into her costume though Dupain-Cheng is paying for that window." Aizawa said amazed at the speed the French students had just changed at but that was what the rest of the class should aim for, minus the Midnight level of impropriety Dupain-Cheng had shown. "Take that as a lesson class for what you'd be expected to achieve as heroes."
"Yes we can't let the efforts of Ladybug and Cat Noir go to waste." Ida said as the ones at the walls grabbed the cases and began to hand them out with the exception of Bakugo who'd already sworn, grabbed his case and charged out refusing to be upstaged by the French couple. "Let's go!"
The class cheered at that and got their cases to hurry to the changing room and get changed ignoring the broken window as they did. For his part Aizawa just sighed and walked to the area where he'd watch the training session with All Might but as he did he pulled out his phone to call Mage. The man would be teaching the class some special training after the winter break so he should be present plus after what his charges just did, well that and Aizawa wanted to see his reaction to what he expected would be an interesting showing once his class saw what and who they were up against.
As soon as Marinette was through the window, something that in hindsight she'd realize wasn't her smartest moment, but she was on full hero mode at the time, so she hadn't been thinking straight, she twisted to face the direction of Ground Beta and tossed her yo-yo at a tree to arc around it and land facing in the right direction. She trusted that Adrien would be behind her and began to run towards Ground Beta.
It was an odd sight for anyone looking out to see a girl in a red costume with black polka dots but the as no sensors went off, and the staff knew Marinette's costume, there wasn't an issue as she rushed to the location of the drill, Adrien behind her. He'd leapt simply out of the window and used his staff to slow his descent before running after his partner to get to the area where the hypothetical villains had been seen.
Soon both were in the tunnel that led to Ground Beta and bursting out and into it. From there it was simply a manner of finding a small enough building to reach the roof easily and get a forward position that they knew their classmates would converge on.
That wasn't too hard to find, and they were soon standing on it looking out over the fake cityscape, the perfect environment for them given their past life, and looking out towards the problem in the distance. Thankfully it wasn't hard to see given the smoke rising into the air from an area of the city that was near a river that ran through part of it. Seriously, a river, where the hell did U.A. get the money for these things.
"Anything Cat Noir." Marinette said as they waited and watched, best to ascertain the situation rather than rushing into it as they might not be the best in the class to handle what was going on. "You're the one with heightened senses and with our class I can save Lucky Charm for more offensive purposes rather than start the timer right now."
"True, best to let the class recon team deduce the nuances, they are better than us at that." Adrien said as he looked out at the area that had black smoke rising above and opened his heightened senses before grimacing under his mask. "And no, I got nothing m'lady other than that we're dealing with a fire."
"That's obvious kitty." Marinette said with a sigh. "Nothing else?"
"The smoke is pungent, whatever's burning doesn't burn pleasantly and when you add in the general smells of a city environment my nose isn't going to give good results." Adrien said with a shrug. "I can deal with it though, I'm the best for handling it other than maybe Shoto, and my mask will protect me but I'm no use for scouting. Smell is arguably my strongest sense and right now the fire is negating that."
"Alright then we wait." Marinette said. "It shouldn't be…"
"Ladybug, Cat Noir, sitrep?" A serious, familiar voice said from behind them, and they turned to see Ida leading the rest of the class to their location. "You got here first; Earphone Jack confirmed your location the moment we arrived so any information."
"…long." Marinette finished but she smiled at Ida. "Good to see the speed of Ingenium is still as fast as ever. Alas other than the obvious fire nothing. Cat Noir's senses are dulled by it, we need the recon team to deduce things more accurately."
"Right then that's what we will do." Ida said as Adrien and Marinette rejoined the class and Ida began to address them. "Thanks to Ladybug and Cat Noir we had people here right away just in case but in a situation like this our tactical information is still limited. All we know is that villains have infiltrated Ground Beta. As we saw back in the classroom, we must carry this out this mission as if lives are on the line."
"Ladybug's assertation of what we need was spot on." Momo said seriously and not noticing the slight pun she'd made. "Recon team, you three are up. What's the situation?"
"We're on it." Koda said stepping forward and whistling before turning his head to sky as he activated his Quirk. "Birds of the city, please look for damaged building and people in need of rescuing or suspicious humans and report back to me."
At that a flock of pigeons that called Ground Beta home, or at least those within Koda's range, flew up and began doing as he commanded. His Anivoice Quirk was damned useful for such large-scale surveillance, especially when there was flying animals to use like pigeons who called cities home, and they were already combing the city to find what Koda had asked for.
He wasn't the only one as Jiro also stepped forward and placed one of her headphone jacks into the ground to scan for specific people as she closed her eyes and raised a hand to her head to focus. When it came to the recon team, she was the precision artist able to pinpoint exact locations of people or buildings about to fall based on debris hitting the ground. After all her training she had gotten very good at locations within her large hearing range. Add in that she could overhear things and her intel gathering skills were at the top of the class with only Toru's a match for hers and Jiro didn't need to get close to get intel.
As she was speaking, Momo, at Marinette's reminder, created a com devices and handed one to each of the recon team before the class made their way down to the street level and left the recon team on the roof where they were best suited but with an easy means of contacting them. In that vein she'd also made communicators set to the same frequency for Ida and herself so that they were all in communication.
"I got something." Jiro said suddenly as she rose to look at Shoji and tell him where to focus his sight, it wasn't enough to radio in, but it was enough to get the last of the recon team on it. "Something's going down to the northeast, almost a kilometer out. I'd say 900 meters away give or take and it's right where that smoke is."
At that Shoji rushed forward and grabbed the railing with his one of his true hands and his Dupli-Arms manifesting to form over a dozen eyes that were now straining to look as far as possible in the area Jiro had identified. He was the last of the recon team, not as precise as Jiro was but able to give more general protection and all-around alerts while also having the vison aspect allowing him to see further and more thanks to all his eyes and confirm what Jiro had pinpointed.
"I confirm the smoke is from what looks like an explosion where Earphone Jack said there was something." Shoji said into the receiver he had as he began to focus his eyesight on it and zoomed in as best he could and after a moment when he had the visual. "I got it, it's a building collapsed near the river and it's on fire. Fire suppression needed there ASAP so that it doesn't spread. Over."
"Roger that, are there any people? Over." Ida said into the communication device then released the transmitter while the recon team got him his answer and addressed the rest of the class. "Our foremost job is to put out the fire as quick as possible."
"I can help get those we need there as fast as Ingenium can pull them." Momo said turning from them to fully open the front of her costume as she needed to create a large item for this, so she needed her full chest exposed to make it swiftly, behind her Mina and Marinette made sure that Mineta and Kaminari didn't try to get a look at Momo's impressive girls in as painful a way as possible without taking them out of the exercise, which in this instance was accomplished by slamming trashcan lids into their heads. "Give me a moment."
"Fire suppression and speed." Marinette said as Mineta complained about being denied the glorious visual of Momo's tits. "That's Ingenium, Cat Noir and Shoto at least."
"Use this to race to the scene then." Momo said as she finished creating a large cart that could fit a few people and be held by a runner, it was the perfect thing for Ida to transport several of the class in faster than anyone else could manage. "Ingenium, take the cart."
"On it." Ida said. "Tsukuyomi, Sugarman, Can't Stop Twinkling, we may need you three as well."
"Hold up, I just got a report that someone got swept away by the river." Koda's voice said with an edge of worry to it over the coms devices in Ida and Momo's hands. "Froppy's the only one who can save them I think. Over."
"Ladybug can probably do so as well, but we'll need her strength for the villains so it's me and Grape Juice on this." Tsu said as Mineta rose ready for action his balls having protected him somewhat from the dustpan lid Marinette had slammed into his head and ready to show the ladies how amazing a hero he was going to be. "His Quirk will come in handy I think."
"Alright then rescue squad and extinguishing squad move out." Ida said as he hurried over to the cart to take the driver position as the others loaded up into cart as fast as possible and Ida sped off at full speed with his classmates hanging on for dear life.
"We'll bring up the rear." Izuku said as they began to run towards the danger to provide support.
"We need to keep the recon team on alert." Marinette said while all but Bakugo, Kirishima, and a still dazed Kaminari who Bakugo grabbed for his own plan as it required the princess's Quirk, headed out. "There are villains afoot so we can't forget about them."
"Right." Momo said as she signaled in the request, Marinette really should be the one leading this but as the deputy class rep it fell on her right now to be the voice of the team, but she swore that next year she'd advocate hard for Marinette to become the new class rep. "Recon team, stay alert for villains and relay us any information on them or new developments you pick up. Over."
"Bakugo, Red Riot and Chargebolt are going to hunt for them as well, leave them to it as they're the best for it but keep their presence in mind just in case." Marinette said noticing the other leave as they ran. "And play off them. Remember that Bakugo doesn't play nice so follow his lead if it comes to it. I'm going high, Invisible Girl, take off what little costume you have and be prepared in case we need you."
"On it Ladybug." Toru said as she took her gloves off and kicked her boots off as they ran so now they had a completely naked and invisible girl with them for when needed, that was Toru's great skill and Marinette had a feeling they might need it if they encountered villains and trusted her friend to know how to best position herself should it come. "You can count on me."
With that Marinette nodded and leapt into the air her yo-yo spinning before she tossed it at a rooftop to latch a railing and reel her in, running up the wall when she reached it. She then flipped over the railing and began running along the rooftops in a different path to the class. Her gut was telling her that she needed to be on the roofs and after years of experience she wasn't going to go against her gut. This was where she was best, and she'd be there for when it was her turn to aid in this exercise though she'd see it as real until the very end regardless of what happened.
"Shouldn't we have given her a com device?" Izuku asked Momo as they ran. "I know Ladybug is good but that does seem like something we should have done."
"Probably but this is Ladybug, her instincts and awareness are second to none save maybe Cat Noir and I for one trust her implicitly in a situation like this." Momo said understanding what Marinette was doing, she'd heard her friend's stories of her past life and understood what she was doing to some extent. "Leave her be, it's best we keep her hidden as an ace should we need it and put our trust in our fellow hero that she will act when needed the most."
"No better ace than Ladybug, that girl is something else." Mina said as they ran. "But we need a plan as well."
"Right and I've got one." Momo said forgetting about Marinette for the moment and looking around her remaining classmates. "It starts with Cellophane. When we…"
As they ran Momo explained the initial plan and hoped that Ida had everything covered where they were heading. There was bound to be a twist or turn along the way.
Ida did have things under control, to some extent anyway as he neared the building and came to a halt using the rubble to stop the cart which spilled all the class out into the road by the river. Only Adrien, Aoyama, and Tsu landed on their feet with Tsu heading straight to the river while the others got to their feet to assess the situation. The building was in front of them, and Ida already had orders, orders that would lead to the first mistake of the day as he'd chosen the wrong classmate for the job.
"Shoto you're up." Ida said.
"Right." Todoroki said as he approached the building and before anyone could react he covered burning building and the area around it with a large wave of ice from his right side.
"That's got it." Sato said with a smile.
"C'est magnifique." Aoyama added.
"It won't hold." Adrien said bluntly as he looked at it ready to act. "Ice and fire don't really mix regardless of what Shoto has shone us with his body. I'll stay right here and be ready to act when what I think will happen happens."
No one was really paying Adrien attention as they had covered the flames and buildings and checked in with Tsu who was by the river. She'd found the citizen in the river and Ida, Sato, Tokoyami and Mineta rushed to join her while Adrien waited with Shoto ready for what he had a feeling was coming. He trusted the others would deal with the citizen, who turned out to be Mirio Togata of the Big 3, and focused on what he was going to have to do, this was going to take some power and he raised his hand to his mask ready to activate it's recharging feature for when it came to it.
As Adrien was doing this the river rescue squad had found Togata in the river heading towards a bridge that had been blown up in the middle so had collapsed and there was dangerous chunks of concrete in the way and larger pieces about to fall in around the time Togata reached the bridge. It seemed that Tsu's assessment that Mineta was needed would come in handy as his balls would be perfect glue for temporarily holding the remains of the bridge in place given how they had yet to find anything that could destroy them.
This was accomplished by having Dark Shadow toss Mineta and Sato toss Tsu at the bridge as hard as they could. While in the air Mineta tossed his balls at the bridge in his ultimate move Grape Rush to ensure that some landed and enough did to hold the two large pieces of concrete in place with several balls showing just how sticky and strong they were.
As for Tsu, she twisted in the air to send her tongue out and grab Togata around the waist with her tongue before landing on the side of the bridge and sticking there. The moment she had a secured herself to the bridge she reeled Togata in to get him out of the water and Mineta landed on some of the concrete to complete the rescue.
As this was happening Todoroki had come to make sure that they had accomplished it, but Adrien remained looking at the ice-covered fire waiting for what was coming. No one else was concerned though and Ida used the brief moment to call into the recon squad for an update on the search for villains while they'd been working to extinguish the fire and save Togata.
Shoji was just reporting in that they hadn't found any when it happened. The entire building covered by ice blew up causing the fire to spread more and cause more damage than before though Adrien just sidestepped any debris as he pressed first the timer button on his mask to start the recharge timer for his protein and then another button to activate the latest feature Hatsume had added to it, a signal scanner to allow Adrien to tap into and access the current frequency being used by the coms so he could update everyone with what he was about to do.
"What the hell, my ice should have covered that." Todoroki said from the river.
"All you did was bottled up the flames Shoto." Adrien said as he stepped back to prepare his move. "Ice doesn't quench flames, at least not right away, so you have to smother them so that no oxygen can get to the fire. I had a feeling you didn't do that so there was going to be some way for oxygen to get and build up the pressure until the ice couldn't contain it anymore. It acted a bit like a pressure cooker bomb only on a larger scale, but everything here is inorganic, so I got this. Time for my latest ultimate mover; Cataclysmic Wave!"
With that Adrien activated Cataclysm in the soles of his feet and took control of his energy the moment it left his body and went into the ground. Ever since he'd discovered he could actually control the direction of Cataclysm rather than letting it run wild thanks to finally realizing that Cataclysm was more than just a destructive energy but part of him that bent to his will, Adrien had been steadily perfecting more and more ultimate moves. The first he'd created was Cataclysmic Wave, a move designed to basically destroy whatever was in front of Adrien without moving and he used it right now.
How it worked was simple, he just activated Cataclysm in his feet to unleashed it and then took control of it mentally as he raised his arms to send a line of black, destructive, energy to either side and as far as he needed it, in this case to the ends of the debris. Then he just brought his arms forward and sent the energy in a straight path along the line in a wave like move that destroyed anything inorganic in its path. Thanks to his training, Adrien could ensure that Cataclysm destroyed more than just the item or thing he'd touched with it and used it now to destroy any rubble and fire in his path.
He had to intensify the power of it to ensure fast and complete destruction, something that lessened his time limit for activation hence the need for the recharge feature to be active and concentrate on keeping it only a few inches deep so that he didn't destroy too much ground in the process. It took a lot of concentration to pull off, but he managed it as the building, fire, and almost all the rubble other than some of it that had spilled out into the street was destroyed in a wave of pure destructive power.
What was left was just a baren square of nothingness between where Adrien was and the last remnants of the building, he'd ended it early once all he the fire and falling buildings were destroyed as he couldn't see the far end and didn't want to damage anything unnecessarily. It was full scotched earth in a sense and Adrien wobbled from the energy it had taken but was glad that he'd managed it.
"Woah." Ida said as he, Todoroki and Aoyama joined Adrien to stare at the near perfect square of barren, dust covered ground that had been a burning building moments before. "That was…"
"What we've come to expect from Cat Noir." Todoroki said simply. "Well done, we should have let you handle it first."
"A good learning experience." Adrien said as he turned off the timer but after his recharge shot of protein had happened so he should still be able to use his Quirk for a while. "But remember, fire is inorganic, so Cataclysm works on it, and it's really fast given the fluid nature of fire. I'm the best for fire suppression here, as well as cleanup."
"Damn, Marinette's man is impressive." Mina said from the sky off to the far side where she was just a pink dot to them and forgetting to use hero names in her amazement. "She's right, Agreste can match her."
Mina was in the air because the moment the explosion happened the trailing team was almost on it and acted accordingly by trying to stop the newly intensified inferno. Their plan was simple and called Team Rainy Day which involved Ochaco making Mina weightless and sending her into the sky while Sero used his tape to latch onto her back and control her. Then Mina would use her acid as she saw fit, and Aoyama would add to it from his position to smother the flames thus extinguishing them before Todoroki used even more ice to end it this time.
Before she could the buildings had crumbled as a wave of blackness passed over the fire and rubble before her. In short order everything was turned to dust as Cataclysm swept through it with the fire going out as it was hit until all was gone, and the move ended.
To say that it had caused all of them to go wide eyed would be an understatement. The only one of the team who wasn't surprised was Ochaco as she'd seen the extent of Agreste's Cataclysm control once before back during the Hassaikai raid, Izuku and Momo had been too busy or elsewhere to notice it, but still it was impressive. He'd wiped out the building and destroyed the fire in a single swoop to ensure no more collateral damage or spread of the fire, it was no wonder Marinette saw him as her equal.
However, before anyone could react, though the recon team had picked it up and tried to warn them but failed as it was too fast and with the villain airborne Jiro hadn't been able to locate her as fast as she'd usually be able to, there was a wave of yellow energy that slammed into the trailing team sending them flying. At the same time the Mina was sent flying through the air before the tape that was holding her was grabbed, yanked free of it's creator, and wrapped around Mina too fast for her to react so that she was now floating in the air with the tape around her arms unable to escape or use her Quirk.
Izuku gasped as he looked up, he'd recognized the energy at once and knew who it was. Nejire Hado of the Big 3 was floating in the air on her Quirk that was coming from her feet holding the tape in one hand and wearing an athletic bib over her hero costume. It looked like one of the two active Big 3 members was going to be a villain today and that meant that the other one, Tamaki Amajiki, likely wouldn't be far behind.
"Hey! Hey! Class 1-A." Hado said from above them with a smile down at them as she held Mina in place. "Don't forget that there are still villains to deal with. Today I'm an evil villain that you have to deal with, did you know that?"
"So, Hado's the villain in this drill?" Izuku asked as those still on the ground, specifically himself, Ojiro, Uraraka, Sero, and Yaoyorozu, look up at the Big 3 girl above them. "Is it just…"
"No, it's not just Hado." A new and familiar male voice with a waver of nervousness in it that they all recognized said from behind them causing them to turn and see Tamaki Amajiki walking down the street towards them in his hero costume with a second athletic bib on just as several of the class had expected when Hado showed up. "I'm also a villain that you must beat today."
"Amajiki as well?" Izuku asked now worried. "That's both Big 3 students still active and we have to fight them?"
For a moment they all just stood there as the wind blew Amajiki's hood off waiting for someone to make a move. At least that's what it seemed to be but in reality it was Amajiki's crushing social anxiety and the anxiety he felt over his own power weighing him down as at least 6 members of Class 1-A and Hado stared at him. He didn't want to be here and didn't know why Mirio, and Hado had dragged him into this as they knew it wouldn't be something he'd be good at, but they had done so anyway. He tried to imagine them as potatoes but as usual that failed so he just gave up and turned around.
"I'm going home." Amajiki said as he began to walk away.
"Wait that's it?" Izuku asked confused and shocked by what was going on.
"Is he really just taking off?" Ochaco asked just as confused as Izuku was. "This is a drill right? Shouldn't he be taking it just as seriously as we are."
"I have no idea what he's doing." Ojiro admitted. "I still don't understand him."
"Stop Amajiki." Hado called out from the air. "You can't bounce now; you have a part to play in training these kids up. On that, don't any of you move either or it will be bad, I'm still a villain right now so don't forget that."
Meanwhile behind them and in the area that Adrien had utterly destroyed, himself, Ida, Todoroki and Tokoyami who had joined them in the wake of Hado showing up were all there keeping an eye on her as well trying to come up with their own plan of action. They were exposed but potentially unseen as Hado seemed to be focused on the ones in the road.
"To think they'd pit us against the Big 3, just what I'd expect from U.A." Ida said trying to contain his emotions. "They're really making us go beyond today."
"Remember serious Ida, she has Pinky as a hostage." Tokoyami said his tone as serious as ever. "We have to factor that into any plan of attack that we might have."
"We might be able to sneak…" Todoroki said before Adrien placed a hand on his shoulder.
"No, we won't." Adrien said shaking his head as he saw Hado turn her head to look at them though she didn't seem capable of a villainous glare as it came off as more of an annoyed pout. "She's got full 360 degrees visibility of the ground below from her position and is an expert flyer. We'd never get close to her to land an attack before she got Pinky in the way or got off an attack of her own."
"One of you has some brains but you still have to be punished for trying to stop me, remember I'm still a villain and I'll be acting as one." Hado said her hand now glowing yellow. "Full Charge, output level 30."
"Stay clear, I'll handle this." Adrien said to the other three as Hado unleashed a powerful blast of her Quirk from her hand that send her back with its recoil and shot at them on a spiral and Adrien called Cataclysm to his own hands. "That's…"
"Probably organic." Todoroki said as he shoved his friend out of the way and created a massive ice wall that intercepted the blast with a boom that sent shockwaves all around, knocking the 5 in the street over and while not affecting Togata from where he was on the bridge he still used the distraction to fall back into the river with a smile and some line about falling in again. "Sorry, that had to be done."
"It's energy, I can cancel that with Cataclysm." Adrien pointed out as he let the Cataclysm in his hands fade a little confused by why he'd been stopped. "At least in theory I should be able to destroy it. I haven't met anything inorganic that I can't destroy."
"Theory isn't great for a battle when there are other options and Hado's Quirk is her own natural energy." Ida said not too surprised by Agreste's actions, he had a self-sacrifice streak that seemed to be second only to Midoriya's but this time it wasn't the right idea, and he was glad that Todoroki had stopped him. "So, we can't confirm if it's organic or not and now really isn't the time to test your theory."
"I had the better shield against it but…" Todoroki began when Tsu yelled out to them from the bridge as she and Mineta leapt into the water.
"Togata got washed away again!" Tsu yelled as she leapt. "We need help."
"Right, let's prioritize saving human lives." Ida said. "Leave Hado to Deku and the others."
"Right." Tokoyami said with a nod.
"Agreed, she won't win." Adrien said as he got up and they charged after Togata, Ida running with his Quirk while Adrien and Tokoyami rode on Todoroki's ice as that was the second fasted mode of transportation right now behind Ida's Quirk. "Damn, Marinette won't be happy with me for that."
"Right idea, wrong time to apply it." Todoroki said as they fled.
"Yeah still, she's not a big fan of me doing that." Adrien admitted. "But for now, let's focus on saving Togata, I'll deal with my annoyed girlfriend later."
The others just nodded as they rushed after Togata. They trusted that the rest of the class had the villains handled so they could save the citizen and this time make sure he didn't jump back into the damned water.
Back at the rear guard where the recon team was, the chaos of Todoroki's ice blocking Hado's attack had disrupted them. With all that was going on Jiro couldn't pinpoint anything as there was too much noise for her to sift through, but she resolved to up her training to get better at dealing with such an abundance of sudden noise in the future.
"Should we go help them?" Jiro asked Shoji as he watched the scene as best he could. "Or are we in the clear?"
"Hado still has Pinky." Shoji said his eyes focused on the situation.
"We have to help her then." Jiro said seriously. "We could…"
"Not so fast." Shoji interrupted as he spotted what he'd been looking for as it was the one thing that he'd not noticed when the confrontation had begun. "It's our job to be the scout team and provide support from here. There might be more than two enemies hiding out there somewhere and besides, Pinky's about to be rescued."
"Huh, how do…" Jiro began before a Dupli-Arm formed a mouth behind Shoji and he mouthed a word to her that she could easily make out and grinned. "Oh, this will be good then."
"What do you want with us villain?" Izuku asked Amajiki now that it was clear they were the ones who had to deal with him and Hado. "Maybe we can come to a peaceful resolution of this without fighting.
"I want…" Amajiki began. "…to go home."
"Well then why are you still here?" Ojiro asked. "It's perfectly acceptable for a wannabe villain to go home before committing an act of villainy. We haven't seen you do so which means you're free to go."
"I can't because if I do Hado will get mad at me." Amajiki said shaking his head. "Not to mention Mirio, he asked me to do what I could to help you become stronger heroes as soon as possible but as he can't right now so he's counting on me to push you. That means that I'll stand and fight you even if I just want to go home."
At that Amajiki took a combat stance, a pair of wings shooting out of his back, his fingers on his right-hand becoming tentacles, the other forming a hard clam shell on it as some form of shield, while his feet became chicken feet only they looked like they could do some serious damage. His Manifest Quirk was damned powerful and Izuku, Ojiro, and Sero took combat stances ready to fight trusting the girls to handle Hado as they had a general plan for what to do based on what had happened earlier.
"They're doing this to make us stronger, I get it now." Izuku said. "We can't disappoint them."
"I'm grateful for the chance but this is not going to be easy." Sero said.
They held that poise for a moment as they readied for combat. As they did, Amajiki surveyed the area and realized that two were missing from his initial count when they'd split up to get to the burning building and one of them was…
"That girl who even Mirio recognized as a threat isn't here!" Amajiki yelled panic in his voice. "Nor is the invisible one."
"Now!" Momo yelled glad that all the time they'd bought had allowed for this.
"Uraraka." Izuku added.
"Release." Uraraka said as she released a still floating Mina and then looking up to the buildings around them. "Ladybug!"
All this time that they'd been in the street talking, Marinette had been getting into position. She'd gone via the roofs to ensure that she could use her skills in an urban setting and maintain a bird's eye view of the rest of the class as she made her way to the fire. She trusted that Adrien would handle it, which he did after Todoroki's mistake that the two-toned boy would defiantly learn from, so she focused on the wait for a villain and soon enough one came.
Marinette had to hit the deck on the roof when she saw that it was Hado. The older girl was a flyer, so Marinette needed to be careful. She had to make sure that she was on a higher rooftop for when the opening presented itself, so she subtly and carefully got into position while the others bought her time. There was only one building that fit and Marinette had to get behind it and then climb it without her yo-yo to reach the top, but she was soon there and watched the whole thing unfold.
She saw Adrien's attempt at self-sacrifice, she'd have words with him for that again later, and all that Amajiki was doing and prepared her plan. She trusted her class to trust her to be in position and knew that Momo at least would understand how she could help. Add in that she'd had Hagakure strip her remaining costume and everything was in place for a takedown of Hado by some of the girls of Class 1-A. All she needed was the signal and that was given when Ochaco released Mina.
As Mina fell, Marinette leapt up and to the lip of the building and threw her yo-yo down as fast as possible. Hado had still been holding the tape that bound Mina when she was released and was pulled off balance and down by Mina's fall. However, before Hado could adjust, Marinette's yo-yo had found Mina, wrapped around her and with a yank Marinette pulled her friend up to the roof with her.
The yank again threw Hado off again while Mina yelled but Marinette ignored that. Mina would be safe, and they still had a villain to best which meant it was time for the final person to act.
"Toru!" Marinette yelled as she caught Mina in her arms and unceremoniously tossed her friend behind her and onto the roof where she'd be safe, ripping the tape in the process, and reeling her yo-yo back in. "Now!"
Hado had been thrown completely for a loop, but she wasn't a Big 3 member for nothing, and she steadied herself to aim at Marinette on the roof when Toru leapt off a small ledge she'd climbed onto and shouted at Hado to get her attention. It was pretty basic, but it worked as they were all wondering where she was to begin with.
"Say cheese." Toru yelled as she bent the light that passed through her invisible body in her ultimate move and aimed the resulting effect right at Hado. "Warp Refraction!"
Suddenly bright light flashed right in Hado's eyes and she couldn't see, raising a hand to block it as best she could. That had been what was needed as Marinette leapt off the roof with a flip and plunged down to Hado, her hand raised above her head to create a capture item, her foot out for a flying, downward, kick.
"I can't…" Hado began as she twisted a way and looked to see a blur of red and black falling towards her at a high rate of speed. "Oh, this is going to hurt, isn't it?"
"Sorry but no holding back even if this is training." Marinette said as she reached her upperclassman and kicked Nejire Hado squarely in the jaw. "If can avoid holding back now then I won't hesitate when needed in the field."
There was a sickening crack that all could hear as Marinette's foot slammed into the left side of Hado's jaw and broke it with the gravity assisted kick though thankfully it was low enough to avoid knocking out any teeth. Regardless, Hado was knocked clean out by the blow and Marinette rode her body down to the concrete as she planted her other foot on Hado's right shoulder to ensure the landing and repressed a grimace at what she was expecting to happen.
What Marinette was expecting to happen did as Hado's shoulder hit the ground first with another audible crack indicating that she'd broken Hado's collar bone as well. As soon as Hado was on the ground Marinette leapt off the older girl with a high backflip to catch the capture weapon, a gun similar to the one she'd used in that orientation test against that strange American hero who worked for Mage, and as she was upside down fired it at Hado.
The special substance in the gun, which like the gun had a ladybug print to it, hit the unconscious girl in the chest and hardened. Marinette fired a few more times before she covered all the girls save for her head, hands and feet keeping her pinned, immobile, and unable to fully utilize her Quirk, but it wouldn't last forever.
"Leave Suneater to the boys." Marinette said as she landed and looked to Momo and Ochaco, she presumed Toru was around but couldn't tell at the moment as the girl was completely naked. "Creati, we need something permanent to hold her and some first aid supplies, she has at least two broken bones."
"On it." Momo said as she began to get to work. "Cellophane, I could use some tape."
Meanwhile the boys, mainly Izuku and Ojiro as they were combat orientated, engaged Amajiki. Ojiro started it using his tail and martial arts skills to engage Amajiki's tentacles that were easily strong enough to defend against Ojiro's tail and fight him to create the opening that Izuku needed to land a hit that would render Amajiki unconscious. He managed that by effectively getting caught in Amajiki's tentacles and Izuku came down for a smash but at the last moment he pulled it and held a fist against Amajiki's chest to show that he could have hit him.
"Stand down and surrender." Izuku said calmly. "Your accomplice is out cold, it's over."
"Why didn't you hit me?" Amajiki asked confused.
"I just couldn't." Izuku admitted. "If you were real I would have but I just couldn't."
"This is supposed to be serious, just look what your classmate did to Hado." Amajiki said. "Treat it as such. Not following through could be fatal in the real world."
All Izuku had time to do was gasp at his stupid mistake before Amajiki pivoted and used his leg, which he'd manifested something strong into that was thick with muscles and slammed it into Izuku's gut. The wind was driven from his lungs as he was tossed back to land and slide on his ass a few feet but thanks to how close they were it didn't do much damage and Izuku was still able to fight.
"Don't forget that today I'm your enemy and I will avenge what you did to Hado." Amajiki said as he leapt up ready to land a finishing blow on Izuku Midoriya before trying to figure out how to best counter a Quirk that even Mirio admitted could counter his Permeation if given the time its wielder needed to get whatever item she planned on using to take him down. "So, I will defeat you, all of…"
"Yeah I don't think so." Marinette said not even bothering to change her item as she heard the car approaching. "Toru and I weren't the only ones missing or did you forget that there are still a few boys in the class not present yet."
"What?" Was all Amajiki got out before something large and solid slammed into his back driving the breath from his lungs as he was hurled forward, and he knew that there was only one person it could be. "Is that Red Riot?"
As the rest of the class had been doing their various thing, Bakugo had dragged Kaminari to find a car in the fake city while Kirishima tagged along with him trusting Bakugo to have a good plan. Then, when they found it, Bakugo had the princess put the wires needed to start the car in his mouth as an improvised hotwiring using Kaminari's Quirk. Then they'd driven around the city until they saw the villains and rushed there as fast as Kaminari could drive, which wasn't fast enough for Bakugo's liking, to catch Amajiki from behind.
Still, they'd made it and Kirishima had hardened before Bakugo blasted him off the hood of the car and into Amajiki's back in an improvised wrecking ball move. That was just the first part of it though as the big bang came next as Bakugo blasted himself off the car with his Quirk and at Amajiki eager for a fight with one of the best students at U.A. so that he could prove that he was as good as one of the so called Big 3.
Amajiki had landed on his feet and turned to engage the explosive boy, but Bakugo used his explosions to dodge and avoid Amajiki's tentacles as he got behind and above Amajiki. Still, Amajiki was a member of the Big 3 so he wasn't fooled by this.
"I see you." Amajiki said as he turned to bring his tentacles to bear on Bakugo.
"Prepare to be murdered!" Bakugo yelled furry in his eyes as he unleashed another big explosion to propel himself forward.
That caused Amajiki to let out a terrified squeak and hesitate which allowed Bakugo to slam into him thanks to the explosion and drive Amajiki to the ground before riding his body several feet with his right hand on the older boy's chest as they created a furrow in the concrete from the force of the attack. Finally, they came to a stop with Bakugo over Amajiki, hand on his chest, and furry in his eyes in what was clearly a victory hold as there was no way Amajiki could do anything to Bakugo without taking a massive explosion in the process though with his Manifest Quirk he could probably take Bakugo with him if it came to it.
"Yeah you did it man." Kirishima said. "So manly. Same with how Ladybug took down Hado, we saw that as we drove here. I still have so much to learn to be on your guys' level, but I'll get there I promise."
"Still a girl Red Riot." Marinette called out from behind them as they waited for the exercise to be over.
"You took out Amajiki, Kacchan." Izuku said. "That's impressive."
"I believe that that means that we've cleared the drill as I am sure the others have rescued Togata and ensured that he won't fall in again." Momo said as Ochaco cheered.
"Does that mean one of you can come up here and get me down." Mina called out from the rooftop she was on. "It would be faster that way."
"Not yet." Marinette said calmly. "Wait until the all clear is given. I won't dismiss my charm until we know the drill is over and then I can go and get Mina from the roof."
"Right." Momo said pulling out her radio and calling into the recon team. "Recon team, anything else. Over."
"Recon team, anything else. Over" Momo's voice said over the radio.
"No, it's over from our end as far as we can tell." Shoji said into the receiver. "Anima says that there aren't anyone else and Earphone Jack has confirmed that there are only 25 heartbeats in the city. Over."
"Roger that. Out." Momo said ending the conversation and the transceiver disconnected.
"Well, it's over." Shoji said to the other two. "Ladybug took down Hado surprisingly violently and Bakugo has Amajiki pinned so the villains are dealt with while Togata has been rescued and they're keeping him as far from the river as possible. I don't think Froppy will let go of him until the all clear is given to prevent him from 'falling' into the water again."
"I'm so glad." Koda said smiling under his mask.
"I just wish I could have helped out more, but I understand that in this situation I was best here." Jiro said. "But seriously, Marinette is something else. I know she's been trained for city battles but the way she got in above Hado and then defeated her, that was impressive. Every time I think I think she's got to be at her limit she surpasses it. She's a huge inspiration to the girls at least."
"So was Agreste in taking out the fire and building, he's better than I think most of us realized." Shoji said recalling watching Agreste calmly take care of the fire and rubble in a swift, safe, and permanent way. "And had Midoriya not hesitated he would have bested Amajiki with Ojiro's help. Our class is pretty impressive."
"That we are." Jiro said with a smile.
"The drill is over. The drill is over." The voice that had started all this said confirming the end of the drill as the recon team smiled ready to celebrate a successful drill that night, after their faults had been told to them by Aizawa in an after-class report.
"The drill is over. The drill is over."
Back at the main area, those who'd rescued Togata were already heading in with him glad to have met their objectives though Adrien would need a new uniform, things weren't quite over yet. That was because while Marinette dismissed her charm so that they could look at Hado's injuries and she could leap up to the building with her yo-yo to retrieve Mina from it, Bakugo still hadn't let go of Amajiki. He wasn't satisfied that it was over.
"Fight me." Bakugo shouted down and into Amajiki's face. "Here and now, fight me you manifesting bastard."
"Huh?" Amajiki asked confused.
"You went easy on me earlier, didn't you?" Bakugo growled out his anger and frustration clear for all to hear. "That girl didn't go easy and at least Dupain-Cheng got to face her properly and showed what needs to be done to take out a villain. I will not be upstaged by that French broad again, fight me so I can prove I'm still the best. Don't be a full chicken."
"No, I didn't go easy on you, honest." Amajiki tried to say, and he meant it. "I was terrified of your face and desire to murder me."
"Don't you underestimate me!" Bakugo yelled to shut him up. "And I don't care if you were acting or that you're an upperclassman. Villains have to be taught a lesson. That energy chick was and now I'm going to make sure you also know it. Your done for loser!"
As Bakugo had been yelling his right hand that was still on Amajiki's chest began to glow bright with his Quirk, more sweat had built up thanks to holding it on the older boy's chest. All Amajiki could do was give an awkward smile and wish he'd gone home as Bakugo unleashed a powerful explosion at point blank range right into Amajiki's chest before anyone could react.
"Die!" Bakugo yelled as the explosion went off and from a distance it looked like a skull was formed by the smoke that rose into the air from where he'd unleashed his attack.
When it cleared everyone close to him, mainly Kirishima, Izuku, Sero, and Ojiro, were dazed and their hair all poofy, including Ojiro's tail tuff as they wobbled before collapsing from the effects of being so close to it. With that though the exercise was over, and Bakugo was in deep trouble.
"Escort Bakugo to the faculty lounge." Aizawa said in a bored tone from the observation area where he, All Might, and Mage were watching the exercise. "And take Hado, Amajiki, and anyone else injured to the infirmary. I want a full breakdown of the injuries our 'villains' suffered today."
"Roger." One of the robots said as it began to go to the explosion with some of the other robot helpers while making anti human statements as they went.
"I'm so sorry for that." All Might said trying his best to apologize for what had happened. "I have no idea what got into young Bakugo."
"I'll deal with Bakugo when I see him." Aizawa said. "Everyone else I'll review the footage and make sure that they get the feedback they deserve but Dupain-Cheng is getting charged for that window she broke."
"Come again?" Mage asked looking at Aizawa while All Might went to go make sure Bakugo was escorted to the faculty lounge for his scolding and subsequent punishment for what he just did to Amajiki. "I know you told me my charges had done something hence why I'm here, well that and to begin my assessment of the class in general for my own lessons with them, but surely the damage to Ground Beta is incidental to the drill."
"The damage here is fine and expected, to some extent." Aizawa said. "Even Agreste's destruction there was within acceptable limits given what he did in the licensing exam though it will take a few days to repair that given what his Quirk does on a molecular level. That expectation doesn't extent to windows in the main school building however."
"Dupain-Cheng broke a window there?" Mage asked.
"In her hurry to get to Ground Beta, something I will not fault her for, she changed in the classroom and then used her yo-yo and body to jump out of a window." Aizawa said simply. "Between that reaction and how she took down Hado without hesitation and treated it seriously until the very end she'll get the top mark for this exercise but that doesn't excuse her breaking school property in the process."
"Well at least she took it seriously, but I'll make sure the funds are available for it to be paid for." Mage said before all that Aizawa said hit him. "And by changed in the classroom…"
"I mean she ripped her top, blazer and tie off while dropping her skirt in front of the whole class." Aizawa said in his usual tone. "She was still covered but I really don't want to know what one of my female student's undergarments look like, again, as we can't forget her display in the Sports Festival in her match against Todoroki."
"In her defense, she did have to remove her top then because it was on fire and if she's doing a fast change with her costume then it will happen." Mage said. "And it would be only brief given how fast Technus's new costumes work."
"I know and at least she made sure Mineta didn't see anything, but it is still improper though she won't be punished or docked points for it as it was all within the scope of the exercise." Aizawa said. "In fact, she's going to get points for it because of how serious she treated the threat but still it shouldn't become common. I dealt with Midnight doing that back in the day, back before she forced the rules on exposed skin in costumes to be changed, and I know that Dupain-Cheng is much more sensible than Midnight and doesn't do it for improper reasons, but it still needs to be noted."
"I'll have words with her." Mage said. "And Agreste?"
"He needs a new uniform as well but at least he destroyed it as his costume formed so he's fine." Aizawa said. "And he'll be in the top 5 for that exercise, maybe even second but I have to do a full review and he did stand around a bit and made that mistake against Hado so likely he won't be ranked second for that exercise. Still, their training is showing, which is good, they'd need if for the next exercise where I will really test how they work with others. I am sure you are aware of what is coming Mage."
"The joint training session with Class 1-B and the tryouts for the two General Studies students." Mage said with a nod. "That's always the first exercise of the winter when they change costumes if they have winter variants, and we see if the two transfer applicants are good enough to do so. I'll be there for it; it will be the perfect exercise for me to assess both classes' combat skills."
"As I expect, you're assessments will be useful." Aizawa said. "And it will be good to see the additional test I have for our French transfers. I need to prepare for that though so I will take my leave, make sure you have words with them about today."
With that Aizawa turned and left Mage alone on the observation deck. He was sure that he knew what the test would be, and that Marinette and Adrien should be able to manage it, but it would still be good to watch, the joint training exercise always was. Plus, Mage's gut was telling him that this one might be even more interesting than most given who was involved and the rematches that might occur if fate had her way and in Mage's long life he knew that fate always got her way.
However, he had other things to deal with and turned to leave Ground Beta to address them. He'd deal with his charges in time but for now he had to go and get a report from Fei. She'd missed the fight as Endeavor had ended it before she arrived but had stuck around Kyushu saying that something was up there that she had to investigate so Mage wanted to learn what she had for him. One this was certain, however, things were about to change in the world and the old Guardian had no idea if that was a good or bad thing.
A good old fashioned training scenario and we get to see some more of Marinette and Adrien's experience by being quick to prepare for it and taking it seriously as did most of the class. This was based off the first, anime exclusive, episode of season 5 and kicks off the fifth season material for this story. Naturally one of the 5th season arcs won't be seen as Marinette and Adrien aren't involved in it but there will be plenty of new, original, content once we reach that point along with a full 4 months of pure original stuff to make up for the time skip to season 6 (and ensure that season 6 which comes out October 1st has time to run its course) so a lot to look forward to. First, though, there is the next big arc is coming soon and it's going to be a good one as I'm sure y'all know what is coming and I've even teased it a bit and it is certainly one that I have been looking forward to getting to for a while. That is all I have for y'all however, so I'll leave this chapter off here. As always, if you like it or have any questions please let me know in reviews or PMs, I will try to answer them as best I could and post any questions asked between uploads at the start of the next chapter and do follow and favorite this, so you are alerted to future uploads. Do keep the reviews coming as I like hearing from y'all as you enjoy my work, it motivates me to keep producing the best work I can for y'all to enjoy. Until next time.
